Hello, ladies and gentlemen, this is till my chair and welcome back to my channel today. I'M gon na be showing you guys. Another sewing technique and I want to educate you a little bit about seborrheic dermatitis. This is a skin disease that my client is currently experiencing. Well, it is a condition that is similar to cradle cap. It'S where you develop white scaly, flaky patches on your scalp. Sometimes your scalp can be red. A lot of these YouTube videos that I've seen where people are talking about how disgusting someone's hair is under it. So and when they take it out a lot of times yeah, that is neglect from the client, but sometimes it's not sometimes the client can be masking a very embarrassing skin disease that, unfortunately, has no cure. So my client here she developed her dermatitis about six years ago and she said when she first started coming to me. She said she was very self-conscious about coming to other salons. Oh right here. Let me show you real quick. I like to pull these through on the sides by the ears. I know you've seen this before. This is a pulling tool just from Amazon, Google I'll probably have it on my Amazon page, and it keeps the sides right there from you having to add the hair into the the braided hair to create bulk. So now you can just hide those tail pieces underneath. Alright, so she came to me, her daughter referred her because her daughter was in my chair and saw someone that I would service in with scalp conditions. Well, let me tell you that real quick, I love picking. Okay, I like to do pedicures I like to scratch up dandruff. I, like I watched dr. pimple popper like all of that. I loved it. For some reason I don't know the more disgusting the better, but I don't like gore like I can't watch boxing. You know what I'm saying like: I don't want somebody to get just beat up in my face. I can't see that my heart can't take you anyway. Okay, coming back to this, so she came and um. You know we did a scalp analysis and before I service a client that has an issue always having to get them to get a consent form from a dermatologist. I'M not a dermatologist, and you know you can see things often as a stylist and you kind of understand what they are when you see them on-site, but we don't have the legal jurisdiction to. God knows anything, it's actually against the law, for us even treat a scalp condition, so she went to the dermatologist and they came back with the diagnosis of seborrheic dermatitis and it affects the hairline, the nape of the neck, the scalp and some people actually get it Over their whole body dermatitis, I'm sorry, seborrheic dermatitis flares happened most in the cold months when the weather is dry and when it's cold - and it can also be caused by stress so this particular client had started a new job. She was in a management position and it was just getting out of hand. So she came to me, you know let her her wits in and she was kind of stressed out a little depressed about it, and I just gave her a big hug and told her. You know you don't have to worry about anything, so I looked into her scalp and, like I said I like the pic and she had a lot of stuff to pick so I got in there and I started you know removing it from her scalp a lot Of stylists had been shampooing it without actually removing it completely from her scalp. So thanks to the Kirk products pre-clearance system, I was able to practice spray. The pre cleanse on do a thorough, shampoo and conditioner and go back behind it with the scalp soother that prevented some bacterial growth, but understand this, isn't the growth that causes D'Angela? This is a different type of bacteria. Now, if she does have medicine, I can't remember the name of the medicine. I tried to look it up in our emails because she sent me a picture of it, but maybe I'll put it in the description box underneath kind of researched a little bit more. But when we braided up, we spray it between the part lines and that helps them like she said that definitely helps her flare ups and I can tell because when she comes back, I don't have as much to pick now. That'S bittersweet to me, because she's one of my only clients that has this issue, that's that bad! So you know when she's, not when she's not flared up. You know it's kind of like yay, but then I'm like, oh you, know whatever anyway, so this hair, that she has right now attractive hair company. It was already pre curled, and I did some brown thread around some of the sides in the back, because I just I'm not the one that takes the sewing out most of the time. So I don't like to, for other people to kind of get caught up and accidentally cut their hair when they're taking these braids out so right here. I want to make sure that the band around that I'm putting this on isn't close to the hairline well to the braid line, because sometimes, when you braid that band, when you sew that band onto the braid and into the sewing when you've cut it out around The edges it just extinct, eeap's like a little thick piece of the band back there. Okay, so we're gon na start with the classic you. This is going to be pretty fast and we're just gon na build up her night all up into her ears. And again, I use one long piece of thread. I don't cut it when I get to the corners, I just flip the corners over and I keep sewing this reduces shedding and it also prolongs your thread like you get to keep your nut really poor longer or you know you don't waste thread. If I couldn't all the pieces off that when you get to the corner every time, it also helps me with my speed. I don't have to keep stopping so right now, I'm going over the ears finally, and when I get to the corner of flip, that's when I do my over-and-under method took the track underneath the braid right there, I'm going to show you detailed when I get to The top, oh, it might be on another video, but I remember doing something on top showing you what I'm doing. I love this hair honestly, but what I can what I saw that I didn't actually well. If I could find a Fault in the hair, I could say that it had true weight, which means that there wasn't any like really short pieces within the bundles. All of them stopped pretty much at the 12 inch that she bought. So I didn't have like a lot of little beanie pieces in and those little pieces sometimes come in handy to a stylist because they create movement and they create body. So, with all of this hair being the same length, it just weighed it down and had him looking really really heavy. So that's a good thing that his hair was absolutely amazing and had a lot of long pieces in it as opposed to more short pieces in it. But when I get through sewing it up, I'm gon na go in and use my cut products, texturizing shear and I'm gon na texturize the crap out of this hair to remove some of that book. Alright, so I'm just building up the sides now and I'm turning the to the ends up toward the face. When I get to the front, I don't over direct them too much. I just kind of keep them. Maybe I'll go like an happen above the previous track and then I'll come back. So when she flips the hair back, it's not over directed too much. You know she can still clip it back. I put a braid right there and you won't see a hump at all, so now I'm getting to the top, and this is looking like one of the lab, the second to last braid. So on the the last braid I like the sole on the same braid. Twice so also underneath the braid in the end, when I'm getting ready to close it off closer to the part line in the leave out, also on top of the braid. That way, I'm not putting two tracks on together, which is going to create a little bulky situation. It lays a lot flatter and you absolutely do not see the braid at all. So this is what I mean. I'M gon na go ahead and sew underneath the braid and a video, and I thought she would have kind of cleared this image up, but she didn't really know how to work the camera. So I guess that's my fault, so I'm getting here and I'm about to flip, but when I flip this is what I like to do. Take a razor blade and since the tracks are double width, they take one of those website. You know it lays so much flatter. I feel like open myself, but it legs a lot flatter, and you can't see this and you can't see the lump now. I probably should have brought it in to the other trick a little bit more, but you won't be able to see it, and so now I'm sewing on top on the other side of the brain, and this is what I mean when I say it like super Flat, you get double coverage on that one braid and you don't have to worry about it. Lumping humping or bulking up now, some styles. They do want that hump right there. They want their bang to go up and then down and I'll put maybe three tricks right. There, if I have to well I'll double up like three so to be a total of six in that crown area, but that's what they want. They want that book and you know you got to give your clients what they want. So yeah I'm gon na close this off. Let me get back to my client, so she does have her medicine and she pulls her hair every single week, sometimes twice a week. That'S why she wanted to go with more of the pre curled hair. Now, with this seborrheic dermatitis, it's it's an O, it's actually. How should I say it similar to overactive sebaceous oil glands. You know your hair, your scalp secretes oil. Naturally, that's what it does and that's how you keep your scalp and your hair lubricated. But sometimes you can have a situation where you can have where it over secretes and that just builds up on the scalp and after a while it gets hard. A lot of us think we have dandruff dry scalp, but no, some of us have actually overactive sebaceous oil glands and that's why you need to get that checked out my term dermatologist, because I don't want to be treating dandruff. If it's not dangerous. You know those are two different, alright, so I'm in here and I'm gon na thank everybody for watching and just kind of like staying true to being electric subscribe to my channel. I really appreciate buddy take the time out to follow me on all my social media sites. If you can, and if you like this video and you like more videos like this, I kind of describe something - that's actually not really happening in the video. Just let me know that too, or if you don't like it, then I won't do it anymore. So you guys have a great rest of the day and I'll see you soon. Bye, bye,

It's caused by a fungus. I just use Head & Shoulders. But you're doing a fantastic job on your client.

Mellisa Gayle: I was recently diagnosed with SD and watching this video maked me wish I had a hairdresser like you where I live that would help me. I feel so alone dealing with and it's like no one around me understand what I am going through.

EbonyW: That condition runs in my family, my mother and uncle have it the worst. Mine cleared up completely a few months after I went vegan and used more herbs. Great video

TheSingingBUn: My brother has this condition. except that he has it all over the body. I can sympathize with her, because I have seen the worst of the worst that Seborrheic Dermatitis could do to a person.

ThatCancer Girl95: I think this is my favorite video from you..you were so thorough in your explanation as to why something needs to be diagnosed by a dermatologist, why you as a stylist cannot diagnose anything yourself and then the way you described the condition itself?! I'm too impressed with you right now! Lol it shows how dedicated you are to HEALTHY hair! Not just making money. You are a jewel in the hair community! Muah!! Much love to you!

IAmMichaelLavelle: Yassss you grew the hell outta her hair!!!! I’ve watched the whole series with this client yassss...... #DoTheWork stylists watch and learn!

Monique Wright: One of the shampoo I was prescribed was Nazirol and the scalp oil is derma smooth. I'm also a retired License Cosmetologist. With that being said, she is corrected our job is to identify scalp issues and refer the patron to a dermatologist.

Gunship: I've never met anyone who's had anything like this done to their hair before so I find your videos very educational and interesting. Thanks for taking the time to film and share with us.

Petria Ruple: I appreciate you for educating some people. Alot of stylist are so judgmental and quick so say harsh things

Cherese: Great info! I have the same issue but it affects my nose and eyebrows as well.

mymysharkable: I have several family members with this issue. I tried medical products but it's expensive and usually once you stop using them the problem comes back. About 10 years ago turned to more natural remedies which have been way more effective. ACV rinse, adding lemongrass and lavender essential oils to shampoo. This has almost completely eliminated the scalp issues in my family. Oh yeah my number one remedy is blackseed oil. Remember your have to be consistent with this in order to remedy the issue. I pray this helps someone.

Camile Janel: Thank you for covering this topic that clients deal and live with. Bless you !

Tricia P: Looks so natural. I have the same problem with my scalp and it’s sad to say that a lot of stylist don’t want to deal with clients like us.

Sheila E: Babygirl, Queen of Hair, you have no idea how many of us with psoriasis need help. You are golden. Step out on faith....you can share and teach other stylist to help us.....we are not leopards!! We simply have immune disease that has no cure. Blessings to You and the Queens you do help❣

I Adore Rina: Thank you so much for this video. I learned a lot especially treating this rare scalp condition and the flip over method using a razor ❤️

knightsaberami01: I love how happy she is and after my Mum's health has just spiraled down, its vital to have a emphatic stylist on board. There were things I wouldn't have thought twice about, but the Doc would come up in consultation. Thank you for being a Professional and a Compassionate Advocate. And please tell your client she is Beautiful. Every. Day. And to NEVER forget that. Thank you. ❤ to you both.

Patricia Watkins: I am so happy to know that we as women have you out there for us! Keep up your wonderful work.

Dante Velasquez: Nice. I have Seborrheic Dermatitis on the top of my scalp and in the crown area. Luckily it isn't too bad when it happens. I find that if I don't take too long to wash my hair ( no more than 3 days for me) it's not a problem, but also using an apple cider vinegar rinse weekly also keeps it at bay.

M J: I have this too and the Head and Shoulders Intensive Treatment with selenium sulfide (dark blue bottle) helps immensely!!! I use it about once a week and it works as well as the prescription shampoo ketoconazole (Nizoral) from my dermatologist. It has a different active ingredient than the regular Head and Shoulders. Hope this helps someone.

T Mia: You really should start an institution and trained other cosmologists how to treat these clients. You are so informed and thorough. I love your vids!

TDM: I have that condition too. The first salon I worked in had a client come in with the worst dermatitis flare up I'd ever seen. The manager discreetly recommended that the client purchase a Nioxin Scalp Recovery (for dandruff and dermatitis) Shampoo and conditioner. I used the product on the client every two weeks and her scalp was 90% better. I was so impressed I purchased the system for myself. It really works wonders my scalp is so clear that I can wear braids again (I had stopped because of my condition).

Beauty InCmajor: Love your love for your clients! ❤️❤️❤️

The Mental Fit Chick: I honestly guys use Aloe Vera plant for my seborrheic dermatitis! It works wonders!!!!! I notice that it helps control it and the more I use it the more I have noticed I don't have it as much and sometimes I won't have it at all!!!

tiana [email protected]: Lovely style& I love how you made the client feel at ease about her scalp condition-and addressed her healthcare needs in a knowledgeable & dignified way!

Shon A: You are an amazing hair stylist. For you to have clients that you make feel comfortable about their condition that's wonderful. You can't find too many of them.

Simple Me: I like that you care for your client, and you've educated yourself. I 'm in SC and I would come to you to get my hair done. I wish I can get a sew in ,but I have to have access to my scalp. ❤❤❤❤ Blessing to you, I pray you continue to be VESY successful.

PawPrint Boxers: I watched both parts of this video and was so impressed. Your clients are so lucky to have a stylish like you. I have long had dermatitis issues mostly because I just have dry skin all over. But I have a few problem areas that I have learned to deal with over time. So nice to hear someone calming working a challenging situation out to the mutual benefit of you and your client.

Ang: I love watching you work, your work is perfect. Girl I'm a picker too! Anything... I'll pick/scratch too so I'm loving these scratches, thx

TeaSPoon: Have her use Nizoral (Ketoconazole) shampoo. I've had it for over 7 years and washing my scalp with that shampoo once a week has made it drastically better.

Jessica: Wow, you did an amazing job!! Loved how it turned out

AmazingGirl169: Hi. I think I have the same condition seborrheic dermatitis. I have not been to a dermatologist to officially diagnose it but after researching for over 6 years about scalp conditions and fungus. I do believe this is most likely what I have. I wear a lot of box braids and crochet braids because I don't have time to style my hair as often as I would like to. However, it leads to the dermatitis flaring up around my hairline, behind my ears, sides of my nose, and even my eyebrow since I do not wash my hair as often when I have those extensions in. It's quite embarrassing and I felt quite alone seeing that no one around me had this issue. i am grateful to have found your videos. Currently I have been using apple cider vinegar washes to help ease the dermatitis, but i will go in and see the dermatologist for help. I wish i was closer to you so that i can come in and be your client. Anyways, your videos has helped me know that I am not alone. so Thank you.

She takes Extremely Very good maintanace care of her hair & scalp. When it comes time to take down her hair .. Fyralynn: Holy shit... never realised the effort that goes into getting a weave. Ladies wanting a weave are not fucking around, they really are dedicated to that hair. 0.o

I’ll be asking my Dr about the medication your client uses because my poor scalp is driving me nuts. It looks to me that she has a relaxer. Does she have a relaxer and how did you work that out with her scalp stop? I would like to go back to the relaxers or chemicals but with the condition of my scalp I don't see how I can do that. Could you help me out? Thank you.
