How To Get Your Hair To Hold Curl

Keeping crit hey, everybody is Danielle here we're here at my salon here in the good Beach, tkw styling and recently I've had a lot of people. Ask me I recently kind of chopped my hair and I've. Had a lot of people. Ask me: how do you curl short hair, and I actually do curl a little bit different than what I do for long hair, because I have, even though this is really close to my natural length. I do have kind of some shorter layers in here and another question we get to is Val. I'M sure you guys all know Val. If you watched last week's video and Val has a very specific curl to and when we're here at the salon, you know depending on what client it is I'm like. Can you do the Val curl, or can you do my curl and we kind of started to refer to my curl as like the bouncy curl, with longer hair and extensions, I prefer a little bit bouncy hair and then, as my hair has been shorter, I've been Doing it a little bit different so in this video today, we're actually going to share I'm going to share how I curl my shorter hair and then we're also going to go over to Val here and she's going to show us the bathroom. I think that's like a cooler name: mine's like the bouncy curl. Yours is the Val curl and like can I have the Danielle curl, but it's like too many syllables like Danielle curl, like Val curl, just like is smoother for some reason. I'M going to start curling. My hair, I actually don't use any product when I am curling my hair, meaning I don't put anything before people always asking that, but the nice thing with it at hair extensions, is they hold the curl better? So if I have somebody stop me they're like oh, I love your curls, I'm like. Ah that's cute good extensions cuz. They end up holding the curl longer I don't know, and if you've tried to curl your hair before you don't have extensions, it might look cute when you leave this on and then like five minutes into your day, you no longer have curls, so I usually will Pin up the top section - and this is a 1 inch - this is a 1 inch barrel - bail, yeah! Ok, this is a 1 inch barrel barrel. When I have shorter hair, I usually go with the smaller barrel. It creates kind of a cute bendy, messy curl and then every time I probably direct the curls away from my face. I honestly curl it very similar to if you've seen some of my long hair, curling tutorials. I just leave out the ends and make it a little bit more messy and sometimes I'll do a wrap curl like val is doing, but if, for some reason that takes me longer - and I just think - I'm quicker doing this way so the trick to a curl Is starting kind of mid-shaft and not leaving it in too long and then kind of pulling the curl out and - and I always with with hair extensions, a lot of people will stop me and ask me: you know how I love your curls. How are they seeing it, and that's honestly, one of the nice things about having hair extensions is they do hold curl better than my regular hair a lot of times. You will see photos of hair and how its styled and we love it, and you know it will look good as we leave the salon and then like 10 minutes later goes flat. So that is one thing: if you've kind of considered wearing hair extensions, that is one of the positive things I feel like is they hold? They hold curl really well, so you can see I'm grabbing about 1 inch sections and I'm trying to talk and curl the same time. Apparently that's harder than you would think, and - and I usually again, I'm just curling away from the face wrapping midsection here. Leaving my ends out, but what I do is I go down just the very last bit, so it's not too straight, and it has a little bit of a subtle Bend and I'll kind of go through here and grab some of these pieces underneath and kind of Start to wrap or I'm not wrapped curling a bow - is doing more of a wrap, curl and Val doing the bowel curl. What should I call my curl? I can't call this on the bouncy girl. This is like my short hair curl, so you can kind of see. I mean this, I'm just kind of refreshing some of my curls, but you can see how that kind of looks and then I just usually tousle it. I'M going to kind of refresh this side too, so you guys can see fellas over there curling like a speed, speed, lady, so Val talk to us about your ear. Curls, like she doesn't look just a little bit different than I do kind of the same thing, though I if it's frizzy, I smooth it in the curling iron and then I wrap it always holding this up and wrap it away from ya, and I wrap away From the face and then hold it, I always leave a lot of ends out and then, when I'm done, I pull it. So it doesn't like keep the form when it taut yeah and then keeps it, and then I always like, if it ever looks too curly I'll get a flat iron or the Crillon air and like push it down to so I barely have the manticore. Curls are very similar. The one thing I noticed with, if I do a wrap curl, and especially if I'm using a curling iron, is specific to wrap curls. I feel like the curl, will last a little longer. Do you feel, like a rap curl last longer valve and a regular curl um? Well, I just think it's the extension here that holds it. I don't think it's really that it's the wrap curl. It doesn't matter how I curl my hair. I just think it holds better with the extension here if you guys have been following some of my work and you're kind of wondering hey. You know I don't necessarily want to look like. I have extensions and I want more hair. You don't have to get super long hair. You could always go with a shorter look in order to get kind of the styles that you're desiring so say you have. You know mid length, hair, but you're struggling in the sense that you can't get it to hold curl or maybe the color is not showing up to what you're. Wanting on one of the biggest problems I find when clients sit in the chair, is they say I want this color and I have to explain to them. You know if they don't have extensions, they don't have the density to have the color show up like the photo that they are showing me. So one of the things I want to kind of - let you guys know, is that if there's a specific color or cut or style or curl, you may need more hair to pull that off, and it doesn't mean with extensions that you have to have super long Hair, you can have what I call a filler row that can just enhance your color or the fullness or their overall curl and style of your hair, and so, if you guys have been following my work out, reach out to me, come sit in my chair.
