How To Wash Box Braids Without Frizz

How to wash box braids with no frizz either in the shower or without shower, without creating frizz and without messing them up. Wash and refresh box braids after working out, after swimming. I discuss- How do you clean box braids without ruining them? Should I wash my box braids? How do you wash box braids at home? How often should you wash box braids? How to remove sweat and buildup, and cleanse your hair. I demonstrate how to wash box braids with a spray bottle or just by standing in the shower and also give my recommendations for my favorite shampoo and conditioner to use to wash box braids.

Genevieve's YouTube Channel-https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM20v...

Hey guys, it's you and welcome back to my channel. So today we have a very exciting video and, as you can see, i'm with a guest right here, will you introduce yourself hello, jenny? So today i will be washing her box braids and showing you guys how to wash your hair in box. Braids she's gon na be my little hair model for today. So she's had these braids in for almost a month now, there's a little bit of dandruff, but overall, not too bad at all. Her mom just uses grease in her scalp every day, which has been light enough to not cause build up. Now we're just going to wash and refresh everything and in terms of how often should you wash your hair and box braids it'll be different for everyone, but take into account your own lifestyle. If you sweat, a lot, have a very active lifestyle or if you get dandruff a lot. Those are some things that could cause you to need to wash your box braids more frequently. So it's all based on your own judgment and only wash when you need to okay. So to begin what i'm gon na do is start by spraying down her hair with water. It makes it easier if you put it in a little spray bottle like this. Just to make sure that everywhere is damp, and this is something that you can also just do in the shower. You can just stand in the shower and allow all of your hair to get wet, but if it's easier for you to do it outside of the shower first, then you can do this way as well by just dampening the roots of your hair. So i've gotten all her scalp damp so that now i can apply shampoo. So the shampoo that i'm using is this suave daily clarifying, really really cheap. You can get it like three dollars. All i'm gon na do is pour this out into my fingertips. Get it all in my hands like that, i'm just gon na use this to massage it into her scalp. I find that to be the best way to wash braids, especially if you're in the shower. You can just go back in the shower and then put your shampoo in your fingers and then just massage your scalp with the shampoo and because this is a clarifying shampoo it'll cleanse the scalp really well. This is not the time when you want to do like a co-wash or something you want to make sure that you're using a shampoo that can actually really cleanse your scalp. So i recommend this clarifying shampoo that i'm using and, as you can see, i'm focusing on rubbing the shampoo and lathering up the shampoo directly into her scalp. That'S where you're gon na get all the sweat and all the dirt buildup. So you wan na start by focusing on lathering up the scalp and by doing this, this is what will prevent your braids from frizzing up by first just focusing on lathering up the scalp and then later on. Whenever you are washing out the shampoo, the shampoo. That'S on your scalp will drip down and flow down the rest of the braid and the shampoo will eventually wash through the rest of the braids as well. But for now you don't want to go in and start lathering up and rubbing all over the actual braid, because that will cause a lot of frizz doing it. This way causes almost no frizz onto the actual braid, and the shampoo will still be able to run down the braid later on once we are rinsing it out, so i'm just going through her braid trying to get into every single crevice and parting to make sure That all of her scalp is nicely lathered with the shampoo. Now that we are done lathering up the shampoo and everything it is time to rinse it out and again, you can just do this by standing in your shower and allowing the shower head to rinse out the shampoo, but i am sitting gently down in this tub When rinsing out your hair, whether that's in the shower or in a tub like this, you want to just make sure that, as the water is flowing down your hair, you just let the water flow down your hair and rinse out the shampoo and allow the shampoo To just glide down to the ends of the braids without doing too much manipulation to the actual braids and not rubbing too much on the actual braids. If you feel like you want a little bit more shampoo, you can apply a little bit more shampoo out the root area and then allow it to just glide down and allow the water that's flowing down to just carry the shampoo through and clean it. As it's going down and that will greatly help with the frizz so once you're done rinsing it out, and you know for sure that you've gotten all of the shampoo out, i go into conditioning the hair. So this step is optional, but i really like to condition braids because it makes them smell, really really good. This ogx one smells heavenly, it smells so so good. So i use that - and i just glide this down through from root to tip of the braid and just gently, apply it throughout the braid. And then i rinse it out and allow the conditioner to flow out of the braid without me. Manipulating too much. And that is how i am able to not get too much frizz. So now we are done with the washing and i have just wrapped her hair up in this hair. So now she just wrapped it up in this towel and we're gon na. Let it dry for a little bit. Okay. So now we've waited a little bit. They'Re still dripping a little bit, which happens with braids they'll just be dripping for a while, but for the most part they are dry. We did run this blow dryer through it. A few times just to speed it up a little bit, but for the most part, it's dry so right now, i'm just going to use some mousse to just lay down everything at the top make it back being sleek and everything. And at this time, while your scalp is still damp, this is a good time to go ahead and put your oil or your grease or, if you put anything into your scalp, to keep it moisturized go ahead and seal in that moisture from the water from the Shower with your oil or your grease, if you do that to keep your scalp moisturized, if you don't, that's, okay just go ahead and apply the mousse so fresh and so clean. So now we are officially done washing this genevieve's braids. It looks like new she's. Had these in for almost a month, so this is just to refresh it, get it back to looking great smells, really really good and yeah. So thank you guys so much for watching and thank you genevieve. Let me know if you found this video helpful and i'll see you in the next one bye. You know, genevieve has a youtube channel. What'S your youtube channel tell us what do you do? Tinette Izdash!t: I love your channel! I have a couple of questions because I just started putting in knotless braids (this is officially my 3rd time) in my hair. I have to use gel on my roots instead of grease. If I do this shampooing process, will my roots become fuzzy? I ask because this is the first time that I did micro braids and I want to wash them more frequently than my jumbo/normal sized braids (I wanna have these in for 3 months but wash them once a month) I've also never washed braids before. I would just have them in for 2/3 months then take them out and wash my hair. Also, would rinsing and repeating the shampoo process make my braids/roots fuzzy or should I just stick to doing it once? But yeah, main question: would I have to gel my roots after washing for non fuzz? Thank you sooooooo much Seun for your knowledge about your beautiful hair. Your my hair role model, lol. Stay wonderful

Keel He: Seun you and your special guest are just adorable! This method doesn’t work for my fine hair because spit in the air makes my hair frizz lol but I enjoyed watching anyways ❤️
