Steps:

1. Use scissors to clip the end of the sealed braid away (just below the natural hair is best).

2. Use the end of a rat tail comb to unravel the braiding.

3. Comb out any excess natural hair that has been shed.

4. Comb through any ratting at the base of the natural hair.

5. Use a clarifying shampoo to remove any residue.

Removing your braids is pretty simple.. There are a few things that you should keep in mind.. First, remove your ends. Use the end of a rat tail comb to help pull it apart.. When you do remove your braids, you will see all the shedding of the hair that has been bound up in your braids over the length of your style.. So if you had it in for three months, expect some pretty excessive shedding.. Don'T worry! You are not going bald. Expect to see some dreading at the root base.. Just simply take the end of your rat tail comb and pick through it.. Then take your comb and comb out. Anything that has been bound. Up. Just use a clarifying shampoo to clean out any remaining residue, and your hair will be back to normal in no time.

Megan Coyle: What should I use to wash my hair after installing these? I have a bar of knotty boy sandalwood soap; would that work? What about conditioner? That would cause slippage, wouldn't it?
