How To Do A Dry Refresh

Wavy & Curly Hair does not look the same on all days of the week.

When we style our hair, a lot of us lose 80% of the natural volume we already have. Using leave in conditioners and creams can be very moisturizing and sometimes your hair really needs heavy products to not look dry. But the result is, your hair looks shiny but limp and low on volume.

Another thing that happens during the week is, your baby hair comes out to play. You have a bunch of frizz, fly-aways and baby hair sticking out all over the place. Some of your curl clumps stick together and cut down your volume even more.

Most of us already know that using water every single day can cause hygral fatigue in the long run. I personally do not enjoy wet refreshes. I only do it when absolutely necessary.

This Dry Refresh Technique should help. It doesn't involve using water. I've shown you quite a few techniques in the video. Pick and choose which one's suit you.

In this video, I'm showing you how to do a dry refresh we're going from this to this. This is my day three hair, as you can see, there's quite a bit of frizz. There are multiple benefits of keeping your hair moisturized during the week, because the more moisturized it is and the more lubrication between the strands, the less it's going to tangle up together, the more moisturized you keep your hair, the less the breakage, the less the tangling. That happens and also detangling the next time also becomes much easier. If you don't keep your hair moisturized during the week and, of course, we're not combing our hair, then the next time you go to detangle, it becomes a complete Nightmare, and so this is something that I would recommend to everybody. The best product that you can use for this is the vilva serum, because this is much lighter than an oil. It will suit a lot of hair types, A few other products that I could also recommend. If you need extra moisture number one is the cures. Rojo. Oil, this is something that I've been using quite frequently. I'Ve used almost 40 percent of the bottle already and another one. Is this Moroccan oil I'll leave everything linked down below and if you feel like you need something heavy and a light. Serum or an oil is not going to cut it, for you then check out the erata oil because I feel like this is a little heavier than the lightest oil that I spoke about. So this is definitely not the heaviest oil that you'll find in the market, but I'm recommending this because if you choose to use this to do a dry refresh, then obviously you get the benefit of your hair smelling, really nice. I also have a code from Arata, but I would say: don't use that wait for the 40 discounts and, if you're looking for a heavy esque oil, not super heavy, not super light, then this is the one that I would recommend. It also works really well. As a pre-poo for almost everyone else, the vilva serum, because this is so light - you can dry refresh with this every single day and it's not gon na weigh your head on one tip, though never start from the bottom. Has this ever happened to you? You went overboard while sotcing you used a little bit bit of extra oil. You started from the bottom and now your ends look crunchy. It is a huge mistake. There is literally no coming back from this, so please be careful, always start from the mid lines. I'Ll demonstrate now I finished my bottle of vilva serum. The packaging isn't great. I had a few explosions when I took this on travel. I have demonstrated this product before I'll link the video up here for this demonstration. I'Ll use the Rojo oil by cures. So you want to take just one drop, because that is totally sufficient. There you go, I feel like that's too much product, so I'll. Just rub this on the palm of my hands: whatever's excess I'll! Just rub it on my hands like this, so that I'm not using too much I'm showing you quite a few techniques in this video. You can choose to do one you can choose to do some. You can choose to do. None totally up to you. The first one is glazing, I'll glaze, the product onto my hairline, starting from the top and then, as you can see, I'll, just pat down all of the Frozen baby hair. I'Ve been getting a lot of comments about baby hair recently. So here you go use this tip. If I see any clumps that have broken apart and aren't looking great, this is my opportunity I'll run my hands down the broken clumps so as to coat them with oil and use my pin curl refresh technique. I have a detailed video where I demonstrate this technique. The only difference is in that video. I demonstrated a wet refresh and in this video I'm doing a dry refresh, It's relatively simple, just figure out which clumps you want to refresh figure out the direction of the curl and then pin them up for a few minutes. It makes a huge difference. You can also Rectify a bad wash tape using this technique. Foreign areas - this is technique, number two rectifying bumpy clumps. These are basically clumps that look very strange and bumpy at the top I'll, take the clamp and, with my nails, I'll graze down the lengths shake and release. If you find any clumps have coil together, you can also separate them from the top, never from the bottom. Okay check this out. Sometimes, when you separate curl clumps, this happens, it gets all tangled up at the bottom again just use your finger or your nail and graze down the legs a couple of times and of course I can stand to do all of this, because on watch day I Started off with a hard hole gel even though hard hole, gels dry, your hair out. There are ways to compensate and over compensate for that dryness. Hard hole. Gels are a key to making your hair look great during the week and that's exactly why I swear by them here you can see another technique. I'M twirling the curl Clump between my fingers. This really helps to bring back some of that lost definition, so keep feeling around to find problem areas, isolate the problematic, clumps and then work on them one by one again here I am working on a clump, that's all bumpy, at the top using my fingers to Reshape the clump foreign there you go next I'll, take out the pencils. This technique works much better in a wet refresh format, but just look at the results, not half bad, very pretty. Just keep in mind that this technique is not going to hold and it's not going to stay if you don't have, naturally wavy or curly hair. Next, I'm using a hair pick a lot of people call this a root comb, a root, pick! That'S what this is. I completely swear by this tool. This is going to bring back all of that lost volume. It makes a huge difference, just keep teasing, lifting and picking up the roots and, as you can see, all of that volume is coming back slowly. My hair looks way fluffier now. Lastly, I'm gon na fluff and scrunch I'll push all of my hair forward and fluff out my roots again. This technique also makes a huge difference. All you have to do is scrunch and fluff. Look at how full and pretty the hair is starting to look just make sure you don't use too much oil, otherwise you'll be left with a greasy stringy looking mess, and you won't be able to rectify that. So these are my results. Obviously, this does not look like my day, one hair, but it is still so beautiful. I did not use a bonnet this week, just a pineapple and a satin pillowcase. Just a gentle reminder for you. It is so important to have reasonable expectations from your hair and what it can do. Look it my hair may not be perfect, but to me it is beautiful. I love it and I would not change it for the world, and this is what my hair looks. Like on a part, let me know what you thought about the dry refresh technique. If this is something you would try, and also, if you're looking for more refresh techniques check out these videos right here,

P S: This is a lifesaver! My hair definitely looks like the "before" part most of the time. I'm going to try this ❤️. Thank you for understanding our pain points and bringing this video!

Nemisha Sharma: Wow! your hair is amazing michelle. And what you said at the start of the video that hair needs to be moisturized otherwise we'll get tangles and more breakage on wash day is SO TRUE. I recently tried using just a mousse and gel (no moisture) and my hair was a tangled mess when I washed it. We NEED a leave-in or curl cream to add moisture to the locks. It makes a big difference! I also saw some of you videos in which you're sporting grey roots. I wanna appreciate that as well because it's important to show natural hair for what it is. Of course, sporting your greys is a personal choice and not everyone is ready to do it. I'm just saying that when you decide to sport your greys, I will be your ardent supporter. Personally, I don't refresh. I have a very active lifestyle so it doesn't make sense for me. I'd refresh then head for a zumba class and then it'll be sweaty again. and I'm tooo tired to refresh after class. But thanks for the option and demonstrating it. I love the pincurl thing you did. May try that some time.

Amisha Pandey: This Dry Refresh Technique is a life saver , also thank you for showing the right amount of oil needed as I always had problems of either too much or too Little

Alka Gupta: 'My curls are beautiful, I love it and I would never change for the world' i had the same experience when I fell in love with my curls and how beautiful they look one me now. Never ever switching to straightening them because I think my hair is frizzy. Dear curlies, the frizz is just your hair trying to find their curl family ❤️

Saanjh Goyal: hi Michelle! I've started using curl up since the beginning of this month and I love how moisturized and soft it has made my hair. but I'm really struggling with the amount that I have to use. my hair curls get very weird and dense and kind of set in one place if I section them and apply the curl defining cream individually on each section. even after scrunching out the crunch it feels like I still have a cast on. i have low density, a little more than shoulder length, medium porosity 3a-3b hair. could you please suggest the amount that will work on my hair according to you or just give an idea as to how I can find the amount that is appropriate for my hair type? thanks!

Thirisha: This is super helpful!❤️ For people like me...who have sinus..this method is such a lifesaver!❤️Can't thank you enough for this hack! Definitely gonna give this a try!✨️

Aparna Das: Got the solution i will definitely try and let you know thank you so much

Harini M: Hi Michelle.. This is really cool and super helpful I wanted to know your thoughts about using curl up oil for this method. Can you please share your perspective? Thanks!

The Baboon: This is so useful! Thanks a lot!

S N: Mam please answer mam.. My clg does not allow free hair.. So can I braid my hair and still manage my curl patterns and curl definitions?

meena ganesh: Hey I've been following you for a couple of years. I've been so into CGM lately and I have only used requil DC & reequil murmuru conditioner. I like the results of my hair but They break me out badly since I have oily acne prone sensitive skin. And I've watched your video on acne and followed all the tips. still I'm getting acne near my ears and cheeks. I'm scared to use/purchase CGM products now. Can you guide me how to proceed further. Can you suggest good salicylic face wash ? Thank you.

Risha Bora: Thank you. This is super helpful for low porosity hair which takes forever to dry and becomes puffy if sprayed with water instead of completely drenched with water

Ruchi Biswas: Hi Michelle! Thankyou for this video . Im new to CGM and I always face these issues when I go for refreshing my curls, will surely try them. And one thing I wanted to ask that is the cgm good for a long term? Is it okay to put the cgm products on hair for a long term ? Cz they do include some amount of chemicals!

Snigdha Ghosh Roy: I am still new to the CGM and yours is the only YouTube channel that I follow religiously. You gave me hope of handling my, what I thought of as, strange hair without doing crazy routines or heat treatments and more. With every wash day, I learn something new about my hair and I am still on kind of a path of discovery. I can't wait to see how my natural curls will eventually turn out... For now it's 2b/2c...I guess...still trying to figure out the porosity...

Debolina Banerjee: Thanks so much for the video. Very helpful :) Your hair does look beautiful

Esther Simick: Thank for such a helpful video! You're the best!

KC: TBE!! Thanks for this ever so useful video!

shalini upadhyay: This was much needed. Thank you. But can you do dry refresh with any leave in cream or runny gel? That would be great too for holding the curls.

harshala kamble: This looks interesting. I m definitely gonna try.

L Mawiong: Needed this!!

Minimice23: Thank you so much for this video.

Tina: Really helpful video.. your hair looks great

Ananya Shree: I am having flyaways on wash days , do I need to change products or use these techniques ??

Tuhina Haldar: only if i had time bro, i'd definitely swear by your methods

Janaka Priya: Hi Michelle ....sooperb....i love it ...i have some problem regarding deep conditioning...i doesn't know how to choose it properly...i have tried some products but it's not working on my hair .. how to choose it?i have coarse high porosity hair

Maithili Khollam: I do the exact same!! I cannot do wet refreshes at all. Also does wet frequent wet refreshes cause the hair to be brittle?

salma: Thanks love

Sree: please make a video on 2a very low density hair ,its styling routine and products. it will be beneficial if you give a demonstration.

Sanchari Deeya: Shona, I was madly searching for this type of comb... But did not know what it is called. Today yr video helped me.. A root comb... Ordered it... Thank you, beta. @michelle

Safreena sheik: Can you review a brand called Cantu available on amazon it's for curly hair

Mamtha Rao: Best tips!

Riya Gupta: ❤️

yashika sharma: Hey pls review fix my curls mousse ..i can trust only your reviews

gabooc:

Sneha Shukla: Hey isn't it too many products on hair on day to day basis. Is it good in the long run?

Akhila K: Love and love only

Shweta: First comment
