Is crystal aka curly chris welcome back for another video in today's video we are introducing perm ride 101 series. Y'All heard that right, perm rod, 101 series episode one and you guys always love whenever i do a series of things on like a particular style. So it was a no-brainer for me to eventually come around to the perm rods. Of course, we've done our twist outs and everything we've mastered those right. So now we're going to move on to perm rods, perm rod says, are the things that i really do like to do on my hair. I just like rod says, make a lot of sense, and once you master them, it's like you keep on having the popping hairstyle that you can do so many different styles with and everything so before we go ahead and get into the details of today's video. If you are new to your girls channel, if this is your first time here, make sure you do one thing before you go and that's smash that button down below smash that button down below here, like you mean and join the curly chris sam, we would love To have you claim your seat at the table so before we get into the step-by-step details, let's get into what all you are going to be needing in order to achieve the best perm rod set so, first and foremost, of course, you're going to need perm rods. Now these are the ones that i'm going to be using on my hair. They are the orange ones um. I love using this size. I feel like i get like a bomb definition with these. Also, these are the ones that i did recommend to you guys in my amazon must-have video to get for this week, so you guys can be prepared and do your perm rod set with me. These are the perfect size and they're also going to be linked. In my amazon store, so in case you have not gotten yours, yet it's not too late. I got a pack of that size and it also came with the gray size, so it came with 40 of each color and also some hair clips and a shower cap for like 15. So i most definitely recommend that you pick that up. It'S really affordable price and you get a lot of perm rods, so moving on you're going to also be needing some hair clips. These are also the ones i mentioned in my amazon store and my amazon must-haves video. These are the hair clips. I'M going to be using and then next i'm going to be using brushes. So this is a denman brush and this is a regular defining brush that i got from the joyful bee. So i am going to be going back and forth between these two and this one is also one that i mentioned in the amazon, video and, of course, the thing that we're all looking forward to the most is the products okay, so for my leave-in conditioner, i've Already applied the camille rose, moisture milk and then for the styler, we're going to be using the design, essentials almond, avocado mousse, so now, we've gotten into all the products and tools that we're going to be needing. Let'S talk about the hair, so the reason why i like to start out my my styles with the plastic cap over my head is we go, which let me clarify the grocery bag over. My head is because i am locking in all that moisture from already applying my leave-in conditioner in the shower, so i always get bomb results in a balm moisturized base by applying my leave-in conditioners in the shower immediately after i wash so. This bad boy is already in my hair and now we can go in and look at what's cooking up, underneath here y'all, it's very, very juicy that is correct, like if you have never applied your leave-in in the shower cis or bro. I highly recommend that you try it out now. The reason why i chose a hair milk instead of a regular leave-in is because, since we're doing a perm rod set we're going to be using a mousse right, so we're not going to be using our regular creams or butters like i typically would use on my Hair, so i wanted to make sure that i still got the right amount of moisture, so i made sure to go in with a milk, because the milk is a tad bit thicker a tad bit more moisturizing than a regular leave-in. So we can start over here and just look at how juicy the curls are y'all. My hair feels so good, so moisturized and i'm really really excited to be doing this step by step, because i told y'all that i was coming with a step-by-step tutorial but y'all just didn't know. It was going to be a whole series. Okay and in the series, we probably wonder like what we're going to get in the series you're gon na be getting the installation, the takedown, the separating the volume, also the products, the nighttime routine, all that good stuff and more so make sure you are subscribed and Notifications are turned on, so you don't miss a thing in the series. This okay, bro are you here? Are you listening? Let'S go ahead and start first thing. First, that you want to do is the size sections, those matter so much so i've already applied my leave-in conditioner to this entire section, which means my hair is going to stay moisturized juicy throughout the entire styling process, so i won't have to reapply any water. So i'm going to go ahead and pin this part up using my clip and then we're going to start this going to be one perm rod right here. So i like to do my perm rods, not in too small of sections um, but just around this section. This size right here like an inch um width in length, so they were going to go in with my denman and just define because remember i've already detangled in the shower, so i'm not detangling right now, i'm just going in to define basically and boom. Now, the next step that i'm going to mention is kind of one that you can decide to do on your own, and that is applying oil right here: real quick interruption so about oil. You do not have to add oil to your hair. If your hair gets weighed down easily oil will add more shine, but can also weigh the hair down, so be very careful and particular when deciding if you're going to use oil or not, it is not necessary at all. It'S the step that i took but don't feel like you have to and if you have low density hair, you probably shouldn't. So whenever i do my twist outs, i i follow the lco method, leave-in cream and oil, and i use the oil to seal everything in right. However, we're not using a cream, so i still want to use an oil to seal in my most moisturizing product and that would be the hair milk. So i'm going to go in with a little bit of oil and i'm using the glam. Naturally, oil hair oil wow. I said oil a lot of times and i'm just gon na get about three drops of oil on my fingers and go ahead and seal in that moisture from the curl milk and next i'm gon na go in with the mousse. So, with the moves, we're going to just be applying about two pumps, and that honestly makes maybe too much but we're going to see and go ahead and apply it throughout the section. You really want to make sure that you are paying attention to the whole section, including the ends y'all. The ends are very very important whenever it comes to a perm rod set and the reason why you're about to get into right now so after everything is moisturized, i'm going to take my perm rod and starting at the end where the little rubber band part is. I'M going to put my hair on here and smooth it around smooth around the ends. You really need to make sure that it's very, very smooth at the ends. Okay, that's. That is like super important to getting a popping perm rod set. If the ends ain't popping. The style ain't rocking period - that's the model on this channel. Okay, so make sure those ends are smooth, so they can dry in the right shape and not be frizzy, and then we're gon na go ahead and twirl on up now. Whenever i do my perm rods, i like to uh-huh, do that little motion right there. That'S just something that i like to do um, but you don't have to do it that way and then once we get right here, we're going to take this piece and you want to secure it on the part of the hair. That'S coming over the perm rod. So i'm going to take this and secure it just like this boom and it's going to stay in place. It'S not going to go anywhere. If i were to secure it on this side, it would have gotten loose. So you want to secure it on the side that i just now showed you guys now moving right along. So the next thing we're going to do is part the hair a horizontal once again - and this is how i work with my hair - so i have 40 perm rods, so i'm aiming for 10 per second, so make sure that you know how many perm rods you're Working with beforehand, so you don't run out and then you look crazy on that last section: okay, so this happened to me before so i just now split this entire section, horizontal and created a mini section, and this is going to be two perm rods, so we're Going to go in and detangle and whenever i say detangle this is not going. This should not be your first time detangling today. This is just a courtesy, detangle, basically to make sure everything is smooth. You should have already tangled in the shower so already being detangled right here. Okay, it makes everything much easier. So now, i'm gon na go in with the oil and once again y'all this oil step is not something that is mandatory. Please understand that, but i think it helps with sealing in my moisture. So i do this step and this set this part right here is going to be two perm rods. So i did three pumps on my hands and now i'm going to smooth this on in, and i really love this foam y'all like this design. Essentials. Foam is really really good for ride, sets see how smooth it gets. The hair, that's what you want for a rod set. You don't want to use anything that is not going to get your hair smooth. I also do not recommend using gels for ride set because, since you're rolling your hair up on a ride, you're going to be overlapping your hair and it's also going to be drying in place. So sometimes that can cause a cast and also flakes on uh. If you're using gel - but that's just my opinion, so we're going to work with this one first, i'm gon na do one more courtesy detangle just so i can make sure everything's detangled, because i don't play no games and then we're going to start at the bottom. Once again take your ride pop it open go starting at the bottom, smooth that on smooth it all the way, so that nothing standing out cover the part that you smooth one time and then start to roll on up. Now, i'm not going to do the wrap around this time, i'm just going to do the normal way, so you guys in case anyone does not do the wrap around. This is what you would do for the normal way and you would just go on up and then, whenever you get to the root, i do recommend wrapping around one time just to get it pretty tight right there. You want to make sure it's tight at the root, do not put it loose guys and then secure and boom beautiful, and that's why i like to work in horizontal sections, because i already moisturized two sections for perm rods in one setting. Instead of having to do it twice, you know now i'm going to courtesy, detangle and then start at the end make sure it's real smooth go on up and then i'm gon na do my wrap around do boom another tip, so you guys see how, whenever i Did my perm rods, i did them in a downwards direction, so they are standing vertical. You do not want your perm rods to stay in horizontal slanted, you kind of want to get them to all be vertical, and the reason why is because when you take that down is trained and it's already dried in the direction of vertical. So that's exactly the way it's going to fall so make sure that you do it on vertical that way, it's going to fall in that same direction. So i'm now in the front - and i wanted to show you guys what i'm doing for the front and how i'm doing my parts and everything. So i do one flexi rod at the bottom. So there's i do the same exact rows as i did in the back, where i do one at the bottom and then go up and do two two and two, and sometimes in the front. I end up doing three depending on how thick that section is, since this part of my head is much longer in this section than back here in this section, so i do rows of one two three, you know what i mean, if not i'm gon na show You so i'm applying the oil and then i'm going to apply three pumps of the foam part this in half and we're gon na start doing the exact same thing, but guys make sure those ends are tucked. I cannot stress how important it is to make sure your ends are smooth. If something like this happens, where you get some a piece, that's shorter. I just wait until i'm around that point where i can wrap it. There you go and then i'm going to go ahead and do like this one more time make sure it's tight and then, once again you want to secure it on the part. That'S over and not under the over part, show you guys one more time. So i have about two rows left right here: i'm gon na put perm rods, so i'm gon na split this half way into two so right here, i'm going to do three perm rods and then three on the top. So i'm gon na come back once that's finished and we'll look at the whole head, all right, y'all. So i'm finished my whole head. Everything is done and all this excess product whenever, if you see a lot of excess product, go ahead and wipe it off. If you can, because you just don't want to risk that drying in place, typically it dissolves. Whenever i get underneath the dryer it goes away, but just to help it out go ahead and wipe off any excess that you can and then i'm gon na go ahead and let this dry, i'm gon na sit underneath my hooded dryer for about two hours. Probably honestly until it dries um and then i'll take it out tomorrow, i'm sure, but let me let you guys see the whole thing. So i'm going to come back tomorrow and we're going to see what it looks like once everything is dry. If you are sleeping on it, go ahead and put a bond on top and that way nothing will mess up. So here we are the next day and the hair is fully dry now in order to dry. I sat underneath my hooded dryer for about two and a half hours, maybe maybe even three, just to make sure that everything was fully dry, especially since, like if you are quite like doing the corkscrew ride, you really have to go like a little bit extra in The drying time, because you are now like bulking the hair versus rolling rolling it up on the ride where it's like one layer. So you got to go like a little bit extra to make sure that the hair is dry because you don't want to take it down and and not be dry. Okay, so go ahead and do the extra step and just make sure that your hair is fully dry. So right now you guys are seeing what the hair looks like and honestly everything was really really smooth. The only thing that i hate with these is the sleeping process like it's kind of difficult to sleep, and it's just like that cute also to like be wearing these, but i mean the end. Results are most definitely going to be worth it. Okay, so i know you guys are like: okay, okay, okay, show me the end result: let's go ahead and take these down. I will most definitely get into that in the next episode of the perm rod 101 series. So this is the installation process and then the next video we're going to get into the takedown process and the separating process and the volume process. Okay. So the next video is really really important as well and remember. This is part one of the series. Okay, so we have so much more to get into drop in the comments down below if any of my techniques and tips helped. You also, let me know if you have already installed your rides because supposed to be doing this together. Okay, so let me know if you are also going along with me with this 101 series drop, all that in the comments below, if you are new here, make sure to subscribe to your girls channel, because you most definitely have to see the rest of this series And more also go ahead and give this video a thumbs up, and you all cannot wait for the next video i'll see you guys in my next video peace. You
