Welcome to colour takeover by Donna, Bella hair, leaving the revolution of coloring professional hair extensions. I am Ashley rocks your master colorist and today, I'm gon na show you how to make a mermaid first we're gon na pre lighten the hair to prep it for fashion color. Second, we're gon na apply our fashion color. Third, we're gon na custom color our extensions to match her hair and then fourth, we're gon na apply our extensions. Now, let's get started now we're gon na mix our Lightner we're gon na use the very okay, Pat cream Lightner from joy, Co and mix it with 30 volume cream developer, we're now gon na add 1/8 of an ounce of olaplex Terra cream Lightner mix. You can use any Lightner for this service, but I found that that the joy coat cream Lightner works best. So this is our model Laura and we're gon na start the lightening process to prep her for her fashion color, I'm in a section her into four quadrants and start applying the lightener in the back. We decided to apply the lightener in the back first, because it's the darkest in the back. That way, we use our processing time to help work with us and not against us. So this is our first section and we're gon na apply the lightener about a quarter. Inch from her scalp all the way down to the darkest part of her hair. Some of her ends already light, so we're gon na leave that out. We did mix olaplex in our Lightner and we're gon na use our custom cut from our foils, so that that way we can help incubate it and get some more lift with the heat from the foils. I'M also gon na use cotton in between my sections. Just to create a little cushion because I'm gon na leave out about a quarter inch from her skeleton now we're gon na mix our fashion colors for our color Melton. All of the fashion colors we are using are joy, co-vary, okay, Pat color intensities, even though you can use any fashion color. You would like. I found that joy Co works the best before custom coloring your extensions. We recommend that you remove the tape after removing the replacement tape. The next step is to pre wash the extensions. This helps the color absorb more evenly so for our mermaid look today, I went ahead and chose that 22-inch tape and extensions in the color that I chose was number 64. Our first set of extensions I'm going to use our dark turquoise melted into our light, green and then melted in to our lighter turquoise for our next color melt. We'Re gon na use the same two top shades and we're just gon na switch to our lighter neon green color, making sure to keep your brush more at a vertical angle to help not create any harsh lines of demarcation. After we're done applying the color to the first side, we're gon na use our hands and melt the colors together make sure to keep a wet towel and to wipe your hand down before you transfer any color over to any lighter colors. Now that we've wiped your hands, I'm going to go back in Mary, the green into the blue. Now, let's go ahead and flip them over, so we can make sure that we fully saturate the extension now we're gon na apply the color on the other side. Don'T be afraid to spread the hair out to make sure that you get 100 % saturation. I love the FAMAS because the bristles are so soft. It really takes any strain and pressure off your wrist in your fingers. Now that we got color saturated on the extensions I'm gon na massage it in again for our next set of swatches we're gon na use our dark fuchsia melt it into our fuchsia melt it into light fuchsia now for next. That is that we're going to use the fuchsia light fuchsia and a pastel yellow formula now that we got all the colors applied, we're gon na go ahead and flip our extensions to make sure that we get thorough saturation. Remember saturation is key. Now we're gon na. Let them process for 20 minutes no heat, so we just finished shampooing and drying our models hair and we did a couple test - runs to make sure we didn't need to make any adjustments to the formulas. Let'S check those out. This is our darker root, color and, as you can see, it matches awesome. So, let's take a second and talk about color placement, I went ahead and decided to base her color based off this extension swatch. So we're gon na try to mimic this we're gon na. Put her shadow root with our darkest turquoise color and then melt into our mid color and possibly melt some of this third color onto her ends, and this is gon na be our top 12 hour. Extension that way wind the hair. On top of it lays over all the color placement matches perfectly we're gon na apply our dark shadow root, color first and then go back and melt in our other colors. The formulas that we are using today can be applied to level 7 or lighter. If you apply these formulas to level 6 or below your results, may vary, so we just finished rinsing our fashion, colors out and styling our models hair. After that we went ahead and retake to the extensions, since we had taken the tape off when we colored them. So now we're gon na actually section her and start applying the extensions, so we just finished cutting and styling her extensions. Let'S compare it to the before picture, thanks for watching color takeover by Donna, Bella hair view more videos or visit our color takeover portal for more how-to articles and resources on coloring professional hair extensions, I'm Ashley rocks your master colorist stay classy, hair, besties,
