How To Remove Tape-In Extensions Like A Pro | Tips & Tricks

Tape-In Removal Tips from Kari Fuller

1) When applying Tape-In Remover, only saturate a few bonds at a time (do not soak the whole head, as it will make the adhesive gummy and difficult to remove)

2) Use a small piece of paper towel to remove the leftover adhesive on the hair to avoid sticky fingers

3) When washing the client’s hair, add a little baking soda to your clarifying shampoo beforehand to create a paste. Apply the paste where the wefts were and wash the hair clean (don’t forget to wash a second time with shampoo & then condition thoroughly)

4) When removing the Tape-Ins from client’s hair, pin each weft onto a styrofoam head to keep them organized for easy re-installation

Hey everyone, I'm Carrie with babe, are any of you guys looking for tips or ideas on how to make the removal of the tape and extensions just a little bit faster and easier. Well, let me share some of the things that I like to do to make the process just a little bit easier for me. First of all, when I apply the oil based remover, I apply it just to a few wefts at a time, the longer it stays on the gummy or it makes that adhesive and the harder to remove it from the back of the tape and west. Next, as I remove the wefts from the hair, I'm going to use a small piece of paper towel to roll the edge of the adhesive up off of the top of the weft. Then, when I remove it, it sticks to the paper towel and not to my fingers, so I can very easily drop it into the garbage can and keep my fingers nice and free from that tackiness or that stickiness. Then, when I go to wash my client I'll mix a little bit of baking soda in with my clarifying shampoo to create just a nice little paste when I put it into the clients hair, I rub it in to where those extensions were installed. And then I can take just a comb and slightly comb through that section to help break up the stickiness that it's in the clients hair right there rinse it nice and clean shampoo. It again and then put my conditioner through it and blow-dry it out very fast and very easy. And last but not least, when I remove the extensions from the clients hair. I use a Styrofoam head and some wig pins to attach the wefts to to keep track of where they go back, so that when I apply them back into the clients hair, it makes my cutting and blending really fast and really easy. Hopefully, some of those suggestions and ideas will help you make the process just a little bit easier for more tips and solutions with baby hair extensions.
