How I Put In Tape-In Hair Extensions At Home

Putting in tape in extensions is easy but must be done properly if you're choosing to skip the salon and do it yourself. This is how I do it.

Hey guys welcome back to my channel, i am chelsea a hair stylist in san, diego california, and today i am here to show you how i install my tape and hair extensions. You will notice again in this video. My hair is bright purple again um. It feels amazing, i definitely feel like i got a treatment and i used brad mondo's super purple, hair color, and you will be able to see that whole video from start to end. When i have the extensions in so this video, actually, i think, is going to be posted after that video, because i don't want to spoil the color in case. You guys watch that video or if you want to go, watch it i'll link it below or i think it'll end up being up there in that corner anyways. I have my extensions so there they are, i'm going to go row by row and i'm going to start like right behind my ear right about here. How you want to install your hair extensions you'll want to actually try to do like a what's called a bricklay. So you'll have like two here and then three on the top, where it's like so the two here and then the one in the middle, if that makes sense, called a brick lights like when you see bricks on a building. There'S one in the middle and the two and then that's the kind of outfits together like tetris and now that i have them colored. I can finally put new tapes on if you watched my video and how to take them out of your hair yourself or how or just to see how i take them out of my hair. I showed you guys that i take the tapes off as i'm taking my hair extensions out and that i color them and then now i have to put new tapes on in order to put the tape and extensions in. I use babe hair, sometimes, and sometimes i use whatever other hair extensions. I'Ve used the beautify, no shine, hair extensions as well. Hair extension tape. Excuse me - and this is the packet of babe extensions - that i got the store when i went to go. Get these the store that i usually go to wasn't open, but this one was so. I went and bought some babe hair extension tape. How you put the tapes on i'll show you guys real quick, there's, always a side, that's a little bit stickier, and that is the side where the tape was on last. So i will take one little guy here and then i will just line it up. Let'S see how good is this angle? That'S a really crappy angle, no kind of far away but and then i'm going to put it on tape or put on the hair. Just like that, and then i'm going to do this with every single piece of hair. And then i will show you guys exactly what i'm doing for the installation once i get the tape, the tapes on all of the hair, so i will i'll be back all right. Friends. Welcome back. I don't know why i said: welcome back you're already like in the video, so i finally taped up all my extensions, so they all have new fresh tapes on them and i am going to show you guys how i install them. I'M going to install them all and i'm going to do a time lapse, so you guys can see how i actually do put them on my head and, like i said in the beginning, i'm going to split it right around the top of my ear right here And then i'm going to layer, one two three and then i'm gon na layer, one two, three four and in that order, where they're kind of staggered, what you're gon na need to do. If you decide to try this on your own, it's always easier. If you grab a friend is you're gon na wan na put them here behind you like i do so that way, you can see the back. You will need a pin tail comb. So one that's like this, not one! That'S like this! If you have one that's like this, this is actually what i've used the last few times i've put in my hair extensions. You can get away with it. This one is easier. It is really hard to see the back your head and make it perfect anyways. So i feel like when i do these myself. They are not perfect, but the reason that i do choose tape and hair extensions over other hair extensions is because i can't do this myself, i'm very impulsive when it comes to changing the color of my hair deciding. I want extensions and blah blah blah and i also get really busy, so i never actually get a second to make to make an appointment at the salon. Even though i work at one, i am going to show you guys once i get up to here so, like literally in like two seconds, the next clip i'm gon na actually go in and show you guys what i'm doing and then i will play the time. Lapse that way, you guys can actually see the whole process happen. Sorry, i totally just like get some flowers. These are like stuck in my teeth. Anyways, that's gross! Okay! Let'S get to the time lapse, so you guys can see. What'S going on, i mean not good to the time lapse. I'M gon na record the time lapse now, but the next thing you're gon na see is what exactly i'm doing and i'm going to do it up here. So that way, you can see what i'm doing up close it's hard for me to show you what i'm doing on the back of my head that'll be easier for you to understand now that everything's in the back, i definitely have to be strategically placing certain things In the front, because of my layers are so much shorter in the front layers damage whatever you want to call it. So i already put one here on the side, i'm going to put two right here and then i'm going to end up putting another one up at the top, and then i have one for this side and then two more here. This side has a little less hair because my part is slightly this way and i have a tendency. Well, i'm a millennial. I like the side, part whatever. So that's what i'm going to do, but the reason i kind of stopped the time lapse was so i could give you guys a close-up shot of what i'm actually doing, because it's really distracting for me to do this while i'm on camera. So i like, i said, i'm going to do one here and one here, and you still want to make sure that you're far enough back so i could like pull my hair back or so these little baby hairs aren't so close that you can like totally see That i have the extensions in, but when i put this on here before i make the sandwich, i always do the top of the sandwich. First then, i flip it up and then i again i'm trying to lurk here work trying to look here, not there, i'm so bad. I keep looking at myself. I need to get an actual camera instead of using my cell phone that'll - probably help but anyways. So when i do this sandwich, i do the top part of the sandwich and then i flip it up, and then i use the pin tail comb to kind of clean up the stray hairs that i don't want in the sandwich and then i sandwich other piece Down and i fold it down now, when you put a tape in in you, don't want it like right up to the root because that's how it can pull and then pull your hair out. You want to make sure that it's enough down so that way you can flip the tape in up and down, and then it doesn't rip out any hair. It doesn't feel like it's pulling or anything like that, so i'm going to go ahead and place this guy. It'S funny because i haven't did my roots in a little bit, so i can tell they're a little bit darker because i didn't bleach my roots before recoloring it. So i'm kind of using that as a guideline and right there and then you flip it up and then there's a little stray hairs. You can kind of see easier for me to see in the mirror and not in my camera. But now you see that i have that fully clean, no extra stray hair is happening. So then i'm going to take the tape off of the one. That'S going to be sandwiched, i'm going to place it exactly on top, which is really hard to do in the back you'll notice. I messed up a few times in my time lapse. It'S quite funny! So then you stick it on there and flip it down. So it's lined up and then give it a good pressure push, and that is it looks like it didn't, go all the way perfectly to the right. Now. It'S that extra shine, it's making it look weird. It'S a little shiny anyways. So my next one is going to go right behind that one kind of it's going to go slightly higher, actually just because of the way my hair is kind of laid out slightly higher and slightly overlapping it, because i don't want to have one in the back Corner here either because that's just a great place to have an extension, i've put one there once and i did not like it. It was just strange all right guys, so i'm going to do another one here just to show you guys, i guess, and then i'll go off camera and finish up now. This is where my other one is going to be kind of a little bit over that one, but then slightly above it same guidelines, you don't want it to go right up to the root, because that's how it will pull your hair out and honestly guys. If you are going to do tape, ends tape in extensions, really a pain in the butt to do it, because you can't see the back of your head. It'S honestly, it's annoying. The only reason i do it myself is because again i've explained you. My schedule gets busy and i just don't feel like doing it. Otherwise i would probably opt to do the um the hand tied extensions on myself. I can't do hand tied on myself. Nobody can do hand tight on themselves, so you can do hand-tied extensions on yourself. Girl teach me your ways because that's freaking crazy and i don't know why i feel like i have to brush my hair through. I just like to see how it looks just to make sure it's blending right all right. So that's how i do it. I'Ve got one more sandwich on this side. Three, on the other side, i'm gon na put this one like a little bit higher like up here just to kind of blend this extra stuff. So i'm gon na end up putting it like right about here. I'M filming the ending of this video the same time i filmed the ending of another video so of that brad mondo video when i did a reveal of his color, but my extensions are all in and i styled them and i wanted you guys just to see What it looked like also, they can call me out for me wearing this shirt for three videos in a row, because i filmed all these videos in one day, because i did my extensions. I did my color and just everything at once, and so is it three videos yeah three videos so far in this shirt, i guess i'll change. I got ta do one more today, yeah anyways uh, so i hope that was helpful. If you guys are interested in tape and hair extensions, i am gon na do oh, i might do two more videos today, because i am gon na do a video where i talk about other types of extensions, not just tape ins. This is more of an instructional. So you guys can see how i do tape ins uh honestly, i'm not. I would not recommend you doing this at home, even though i showed you how to do it. If you do, i just want you to be very careful to make sure the tapes don't get caught in other extra hairs that end up getting pulled out, and then you end up losing a lot of hair again those nightmare stories that people talk about once they Use tape and extensions for too long, it's all about maintenance and proper installation. So while i showed you kind of how to do it, i would still be very careful to do it at home or definitely trust your local professional to do it for you uh. Thank you again for watching you guys like and subscribe for more hair content, and i will see you guys on the next video bye. You
