Do you have fine thin hair that you just wish was different? Are you like me who loses patience and just wants to rush the process of getting longer and fuller hair? If so, keep watching, because i'm going to be breaking down both external and internal options to help you get the long, fuller hair, you want hey everyone i'm summer, today's video we're talking, hair extensions, the benefits of them and how to have them without being stressful. On your scalp, or compromising your possibly already fine, thin hair, this video is sponsored by keratin, providing us with all the options for healthy hair from the inside out. I'M so excited to go through all the benefits of extensions and the results these products can give you all which i will be touching on later in the video with all that being said, let's get started so typically, i have always kept my hair in a shorter Bob most of my adulthood, with my fine, thinner hair, that cut, is what typically makes my hair look best, but you know i get bored, i'm sure you can relate and i'm like, i want to grow my hair out. So this is where extensions can come into play. I have had extensions on and off throughout the years and pretty much any time my hair is touching, my shoulders are longer, it has extensions in it. The two most common reasons for extensions are to either add length or thickness or possibly you want both of those with that being said, though, extensions can do some damage on your hair so to ensure that you don't put any additional stress to your scalp or hair. I'M going to be going over five tips to know when getting extensions and products you can be using at home to help promote a healthy scalp while also helping to thicken and strengthen your hair from the inside out. I currently have fusion extensions in, but everything i go over today can also be applied to tape and extensions as well tip number one, don't overdo it with thickness and length, while it can be so tempting to pack in the most extensions your hair can possibly fit This option can lead to putting too much stress on your hair and scalp, leading to possible breakage and thinning out your hair. In the long run. This was a common mistake i made in my early 20s wanting all of the hair that i just naturally didn't have packing in too many extensions adds a lot of weight to your own hair and scalp that you might not be able to handle tip number two. Keep your natural density in mind when thinking about extensions. This also falls in line with tip number one, but it's most important. If you are adding extensions in while growing out your hair, it's obviously so tempting to want that model or mermaid hair, and while it can be achieved, it's not always the best thing if you are trying to grow and maintain a healthy scalp when getting extensions, while Growing your hair out, i recommend trying to mimic what your natural hair density looks like. I have recently this last install finally taken my own advice on that here is my natural hair. Prior to my fusion extensions and my current hair with them. I did not add any length just filling in on my sides, while not overdoing it, with the amount of extensions added in tip number three length and thickness come hand in hand. You need to understand that if length is what you want, the thickness has to match or be greater to blend in the gap. So if your hair is, let's just say my current length and you are wanting to add length to below your chest, you have to add in a lot of extensions, to fill in the gap to be able to add the length. If you don't add enough hair, you will be able to see where your real hair ends and the extensions keep going. It'S not a good look, and this is another point where i have finally taken my own advice. I really wanted to add length this last install, but with my hair being so fine and thin on my sides, i didn't want the extra stress of extra hair, so i opted for just thickness and honestly, adding in a ton of hair is a lot of work Which i will touch up on in my next tip, but last for tip number three is that it is also good to realize that, even if you're, okay with the extra stress on your hair, depending on where your natural length is, you can only add in so Many extensions, if you have a bob and you want your hair below your bra, strap, it's not going to happen. Tip number four use the right products and be prepared for a high maintenance routine. This is going to be our most involved tip. Having extensions is not a wash and go kind of life, they require a lot of additional time and care compared to not having extensions. Prior to washing my hair, i like to brush my hair thoroughly making sure to get out any tangles. You want to use either a wet brush or a boar. Bristle brush do not use any combs or hard bristle brushes at your root when having extensions they will get caught in your hair, leading to possible breakage or slipping of your extensions. I like to work. My wet brush all through my ends and mid area, and i will use my boar bristle brush directly at my roots, to gently work through my extensions. You want each individual extension whether it be tape in or fusions to be separated on its own, not tangled in with another, should you have any extensions that tangle together gently pull them away from each other in order to separate and then brush at your root to Smooth out any leftover tangles now that we have brushed through our hair, it's time to wash washing with extensions, you want to make sure that you are using good products since having my fusion extensions in, i have been using keratin's freshening duo. Keratin has been in business since 2015, providing quality products with natural key ingredients. The freshening duo is free of parabens, silicones and sulfates, with natural key ingredients like apple stem cell sea kelp, extract coconut oil and rosemary oil. That will help keep your scalp healthy and cleansed and promote growth, while not being harsh on your extensions to wash your hair with extensions you'll want to get your freshening shampoo and gently scrub. Your scalp i like to sort of lightly scrub in isolated areas, lifting and moving my fingers to the next spot, as opposed to scrubbing all areas simultaneously. As your extensions grow out, you want to avoid matting your regrowth and working in gentle. Isolated areas helps to get your scalp clean without being too rough. I have been so happy with the freshening shampoo on top of its benefits. I appreciate the lather that i'm able to get with it and it leaves my scalp feeling nice and clean when applying your freshening conditioner you'll want to start at the ends and work your way up, while avoiding the bonds of your fusions or tape and extensions. Applying conditioner directly to your extensions can cause them to slip out of your hair. It'S best to work in smaller sections, really making sure that your hair is getting coated, and then i will take a wide tooth comb and gently comb. The conditioner, through my hair, avoiding my roots once you're out of the shower you will want to lightly towel dry, your hair and brush through your hair same as prior to showering with both your wet and bore bristle brush, i will link a few brush options in The description below it is very important that you brush your hair out when wet with extensions. After i have brushed through my wet hair, i then like to apply a scalp serum scalp. Serums are extremely vital. If you are someone like me who has thinner, hair or specific spots that just grow at a slow pace, i have been using this past month. Keratins intensive hair growth drops throughout my scalp and on my thinner spots. This is a drug free serum that contains a dht hormone blocker. You want to apply 25 drops throughout all of your hair and add more to specific areas. If need be. I end up adding in an additional 25 drops for my two front sections that are the most thin once you have applied. The drops you want to gently - and i mean gently - rub the product into your scalp aggressively, rubbing, isn't going to work the product into your scalp any better. This feels so nice and tingly on my scalp. It smells wonderful as well. Making me feel like i'm getting a little bit of a spa treatment at home. The biggest important so with scalp serums is that you have to use them every single day, whether it be morning or night, in order to see the benefits of a scalp, serum or spray. You have to use it religiously and typically anywhere from one to three months. In you will start seeing results another great option to pair with scalp serums, if you are looking for the best way to grow and thicken, your hair is to also take hair growth. Vitamins keratin offers a great vitamin option formulated with biotin and folic acid to help prevent breakage and shedding while building strength as well. This is to be taken twice daily, having extensions means no going straight from the shower to bed or letting your hair dry. The extra weight from the damp extensions adds extra attention to your scalp and hair. Imagine jumping in a pool with all your clothes on and just trying to go about your day. The weight of the water on your clothes, weighing you down would be noticeable and a discomfort. That'S how it feels for your scalp and your hair when letting your hair air dry with extensions once you have brushed through your hair after your shower and applied. Your intensive drops you're gon na, want to add your styling products for your blow dry, i'm using keratin's volumizing system, which consists of their root volumizer and volumizing mousse. You guys know me: i can't live without volume products, so i was so happy. Keratin could fulfill that desire. The root volumizer is to be applied directly to your scalp and the volumizing mousse to your midsection and ends. I then like to spray in their high gloss mist, which is going to give me some heat protection as well as frizz and humidity control. For the most part, you can blow dry your hair, just like you would without extensions, it's obviously going to add a little bit more time to your blow dry than without them. But as long as you are using a soft bristle brush to dry your hair, you can style as normal. If you want to see more about blow dry tips on how to get the most out of your products and your blow dry, i will link a video. I did recently in the description below, as well as in the pinned comment that will help you out with that. Once your hair is dry, you can either flat iron or curl, as you typically might just be sure, to avoid putting the iron directly on your extension bond or tape, as that can break the bond down or the adhesive down over time. Last but not least, for tip number four is when you are sleeping, you want to sleep with your hair in a low pony or braid. This keeps everything in place and prevents any tangles from forming throughout the night. While you are sleeping, i like to use a soft scrunchie to pull everything back tip number five, give your hair a break while extensions are so fun and can be a great way to get you through the hump of growing out your hair or filling in those Sparse areas it is best to give your scalp a break in between sessions when i am doing tape ends. I like to give myself two to three weeks off every three months and with fusions i like to give myself four to five weeks off to let my scalp rest and breathe. If you are torn between wanting to give your hair a break and putting extensions back in clip-ins can be a great temporary fix that you can put in for either your date night or an important event you might have, but they don't require the commitment of tape. Ins or fusion extensions and i can link below a few different options for you as well to check out. So there are my five tips for having and living with extensions. Remember tips, one through three. If you want to ensure that your scalp and hair do not receive any extra stress, that extensions can cause, if not applied or maintained the correct way and tip number four is key to remember when living with extensions product and daily care is vital to the life Of your extensions and your natural hair and scalp remember, the vitamins and intensive growth drops are the best option for helping your possibly fine, thin hair. It is key to take and use those daily, and i promise in the long run your hair will be thanking you all of keratin's products mentioned in today's video will be linked below with an exclusive discount. In both the description and pin comment, i have so enjoyed using them since having in my extension, so go ahead and check them out if you are in the market to try out some new products.
