What'S up guys, it's greta and welcome to today's video, where i'm going to tell you how to prevent staticky hair. This is something i have struggled with my whole life, because i have long hair that rubs on things and the winter comes around and it's super dry and my hair just goes, and that is so annoying you put on your jacket and your hair just clings to Your chin and your neck and it clings to your shirts and everything it. It'S like one of those things where you just it's hard to explain, because it's just that annoying and that bad. So maybe, if you're from a climate where things are warmer and more um humid a lot of the time you don't deal with this, but here in the midwest and uh, where it gets really dry in the winter. We deal with this a ton. So i've got eight tips for you today to tell you how to prevent this. Each and every one is important and they are different so make sure that you watch the whole video to hear all of the tips. So, let's get right into this video and start with tip number one tip number. One is something you probably hear all the time and maybe not in this scenario about steadicy hair, but you hear it for so many things and that is drink more water. Our hair is dry and we need to make it moisturize from the inside out so by starting with drinking water. Your body is going to be way more moisturized so start by drinking a lot more water. The other part of moisturizing, is doing a hair mask now. This is something you can do more frequently than you normally do. If you do them at all, you can start to think about maybe doing it once a week. Whatever is working for you, whatever your hair needs. My one uh thing i want to mention is: please: don't use coconut oil. I know coconut oil is like one of those things where everybody says. Yes, i put coconut oil all over my hair and it's so great. It'S not. You might think it's great because it's coating the outsides of your hair, but it's actually trapping your hair around its molecules, which are way too large to actually penetrate into the hair shaft. So by doing that, it's actually suffocating your hair and not allowing moisture inside. So probably go with something different than coconut oil. It'S not great! It'S not good for your skin. It'S not good for your hair, so um, it's good for cooking, though so, if you like, cooking with it, that's great, i love cooking with it. So um keep it in the kitchen where it belongs. Uh hair mask that you should be using is something that's going to be deep conditioning. Argan oils are really good or anything that you know isn't like it's coconut oil. You know you find something that works for you, and maybe you really like coconut oil and that's your thing: i'm not going to tell you how to live your life, i'm just letting you know what it actually does on a molecular um size. You know it's really not doing anything good for you, so maybe uh, like i said before, put that aside and find something that's actually going to penetrate into the hair, shaft and moisturize your hair. The second tip is: don't wash your hair every day. Now i get super oily and i could wash my hair every day um, but this isn't something you want to do, especially in the winter, as things again are just really dry. The more you're washing your hair, the dryer it'll, be the more you're stripping uh your natural oils, out of your hair, so that your scalp is producing more and more oils, so you're getting oily, but your hair. It'S also dry. It'S like weird, because you're fighting two things that seem opposite and nothing's helping, so my suggestion for you is to either just extend that period between washes or what i've been doing. Is i wash it with shampoo and conditioner one day the next day i rinse it, but i scrub it really. Well, so you're scrubbing out a lot of like the dirt and oils, but it's leaving some of the oils there. So your hair is still moisturized and your scalp doesn't have to produce extra oil, so you still feel fresh and i can usually do this, maybe once or twice in between shampoos, and i still feel pretty good, although occasionally i do want to add some dry shampoo To that which is totally cool, the other part of this one is you shouldn't, be washing your hair with really really hot water, and i know this one really stinks, because, especially in the winter, we want a nice hot shower, because it feels good because it's freezing Outside but it's really bad for your skin and really bad for your hair, because it just sucks out all the moisture and dries everything out. Tip number three is to use products with poly quatnernium 11, and i don't know if i said that right. It'S kind of hard: it's a long word um, polyquaternium i'll, put it up on the screen, so you can see it. This is an anti-static agent and helps to dice disperse disperse um, the electrical charges that gather in your hair as it's rubbing on things, so that you don't get to a point where it's actually staticky, so it disperses those charges and it therefore is anti-static. This is something i looked into. It is a rated number one on the ewg's scale of good to bad chemicals and number one is the best it can be for yourself. You can also go to ewg's website and look up any product chemicals ingredients that you're questioning and see how good those are. But i actually use a product and let me grab it for you to show you so i have been using this product by alterna and this is the perfect iron spray, and this has the uh poly quad nerd poly. Where is it? Let me see: poly quaternium. 11 in it - so i didn't know this until i did some research on products that are good for anti-static and looking that up, i found that that's a really good ingredient. For that, then, i want to do more research make sure that it's like a safe ingredient in in my products and upon further inspection. As i already told you, it's safe and so i've been using this daily and i i spray it in. Even if i'm not going to be blow drying or using any heat on my hair, just because i know it has that anti-static properties and my hair gets really staticky, and this has been so incredible. I haven't been dealing with very much static at all this winter. So i think for sure this is probably like the top tip find a product that has this ingredient use. It love it and let me know in the comments down below, if you have something like this or if you go and get it and tell me how it works for you, because i'm super interested to see how it's working for other people and then anybody else Who'S interested can go down and see those comments to see how this is working for you. So, let's help each other out by leaving that comment down below number four is use less heat and, like i said in the last tip, i'm not really using heat on my hair. The only time i really use it is, if i'm going to bed with wet hair - and i hate that so i dry it first um and a lot of times i'll, just dry like the roots and stuff like my hair, is actually still drying from my shower. Um this morning, so that's something i'm totally used to is air drying, my hair and that's really healthy for you to do and it's not drying out the hair. If you are using a heat product blow dryer or something, this comes into tip number five and that is use an ionic blow dryer. So that is going to take care of positive negative electrons and give you the ones that you need so that you're not creating extra static and opposition in your hair tip number six is use a metal comb or brush when combing you're brushing your hair, and that Is strictly because plastics are gon na rub and cause more static in your hair tip number seven is uh one of my favorites. Besides the ingredients in tip number three, this one is use a humidifier, so as soon as winter rolls around and the and the air gets cold and dry outside i bust out my humidifier, and i pretty much have it going 24 7.. As long as i'm here, i i turn it off when i'm not home just so it's not running in case it runs out of water, but i have that going right now. I love it. It super helps that just keeps the air around you moisturize. It helps while you're sleeping so your hair doesn't get dry and get staticky by rubbing on your pillowcase, like all that kind of stuff. So if you have a humidifier use it to your benefit, tip number eight: this is our last tip. This one is using more organic materials for your tops and your scarves and your hats, and maybe even your pillowcase or something and by doing that, you're, not creating all that movement. That'S going to create this static on on natural and synthetic materials. So if you think about you putting on your puffer jacket and those being synthetic materials like polyester, that is rubbing on your hair and that is going to create a ton of static. So, if you're opting for more organic materials like organic cotton or something that will really help bring down the static that's created by the rubbing, because, of course your hair is still going to rub just as much on these materials, but they're not going to create as Much static. That concludes all eight tips that i have for you today. I hope that you learned something new and that you can maybe replace some things or change some things up in your winter routine, because that is so important so normal. We change up our skincare in the winter. We should change up our hair care and by taking care of these few things, you shall live a better, less staticky life and let me know if it's working, for you be sure to leave those comments down below and if you have any requests and videos you'd.
