Haircut Short Layers 90 Degree For Beginners

You can cut your own hair. How to cut your hair. Cut the perimeter around the hairline first; determine the hair length on the front side of the head so the client could give you directions on the length. Then establish a guideline on the top of the head; ask the client how much length does she want to be cut on the top. Use finger measurements 3 on the crown and 2 on the bottom. The hairline area, besides the front hairline, is cut using 2 finger measurements and the guideline. Cut the fringe and the front hairline forward to make sure to cover uneven and receding hairline. Use scissors-over-comb technique. Learn the angles of the head and how to determine them. Cut the fringe area forward. Learn how to check your haircut by blending two guidelines together from point A to point B. This is a how-to step-by-step instruction class/video for cosmetologists, beauty school students, barbers, salon professionals, and anyone who likes to cut hair. I'M just gon na cut. She wants short, so we're determining how much she wants and I'm going to start from the side cut a little, and then I'm going to ask her to see how much probably this much anyway much shorter. It is yeah if you can get rid of the curl. The curl cut word starts to close on cats. This is the curl that then I'm just in customer. So this is this length is good, yeah yeah. So that's the length once you determine the length on the side, it's easier because I'm going to go and do the perimeter so just go and cut around the perimeter and then the bot. So what I'm doing is following her hairline, okay, I'll, do the same. On this side. I could cut on the top on the bottom, doesn't matter and I'm going to see and check and feel I could cut a little more. Then I could go down behind the ear. You can call them the skin. If you want, you just have to lift the scissors, then I'll combine the back if you want all the curl out, so I always rough cut first and then customize it. So this little hair I'll cut later, and then we got those hairs right there. Okay, we cut the perimeter and then this little baby hair will cut with the Clippers later on. So we have to decide what you want on the top. I'M just gon na cut a little bit just hold it and ask my client: how much do you want? Like this is good um a lot more than a lot more than that like this, I can tell you here, maybe the more than a little more than that right, but see how I'm just little by little, I'm cutting. So I would know exactly what she wants because, for me short, is a different sharpen for her. So yeah, that's, okay! So that's my guideline and I'm going to bring everything to my guideline, I'm also measuring with my hands. I follow my guideline. I measure its three fingers out, but I also follow my guideline, so this is my guide. Still it's three fingers out of the scalp so here here it is and three fingers straight out of the scalp. So actually I have two different guides to follow. My fingers and that guide, because it's 90-degree, my fingers on the head, see how the direction is changing. The direction of the hair is changing and my fingers tell me where the direction goes, because my fingers are on her head. So this is how the direction changes. My fingers change, so I'm holding three fingers straight out of the head and cutting, but I'm not cutting the front because of this hairline part. So I will cut this forward three fingers and cut it's very easy following the fingers this bottom part. I would do two fingers it's very easy haircut following your fingers, three fingers on the top two fingers in the bottom and then the front would go forward. So I'm just follow the same thing going this left and that's my guideline right there. So you cannot make a mistake, going down turn to two fingers and then cut that will make sure it's short going up, combine the bottom and the top and cut the little triangle out. So this is the middle section. My hands are following her head. Take this part too, and then the bottom is two fingers and cut, and then you combine the three fingers with two fingers that and that here it is this part and that part combine them together still going down measuring my fingers, the bottom, but you can also Do scissor over comb like for me, it's tough to put my hands in there. I can. I have my guide line right there. I can bring this down and I can cut scissor overcome. There'S my guide line and I'm cutting. I could do an angle guide on again here's my guide line right there once it disappears. I cut, I could do the same in here, so I got the whole thing and then I'm going to measure measure out and then, if anything is protruding I would cut so you would measure with the scissor over comb, see how I'm bending I'm bending my comb. I'M not going to go like this. If I go like this I'll cut too much - and this is as far as I go, this is where the hair is separating. This is where the head is turning from here to this point. So there's an angle here and there's an angle here so when I'm cutting the bottom, my two finger part is that angle: is this angle my face, so that's my scissor over comb and I move up and then I use my fingers to move up. I could do the entire thing with the scissor over comb like this, I could do farther father father. My fingers are my guide. Here'S guide and under guide another guide, another guy, another guy, almost done with the bottom, so this part is left. I'M going to leave the hairline forward, so what I did is went from this around to the front and cutting three fingers guideline three fingers straight out of the head. The bottom, of course, is two fingers. Here'S my two fingers there's my old guideline hiding there and my new guideline in the bottom guideline and there we go now once we're done with this we're going to do the front the receding hairline now that we have to bring it forward as a reason that I did not cut this with this. If I did that, I would lose a lot of hair, but I need this hair to come forward. So I'm cutting because I'm bringing this receding, hairline hair forward and this forward and then I would cut and I'll cut on her close to her brow area and if you want shorter, I will cut shorter too. But now I'm just going to go like this and this curls curves, so it's better longer than very short and this hair I'm not going to touch too much of that hair, because I need this hair to cover here and here this part you like this part As as long as this or you want shorter, I'm going to leave it up to your expertise, because your hair is curly yes and it's gon na shrink, and if I cut this too short, it's going to shrink too short. Okay, since the other side was much shorter, I'm going to cut a little bit more. Here'S the guide, here's, the old guide and the new guide, so just combine them together. Then you can bring it forward if anything's protruding, you can cut this part. I just cut their little and then I'm going to check everything. When I check my haircut, I always check the top. I bring it down and I check it was just any little thing from point A to point B, I cut you want your haircut to go around this way and round that way, so I'm checking any little thing I'm cutting and then I will cross check to So combine them together. The bottom part I just check with my comb and then I divide those parts and I have guideline all around, so I keep checking bringing forward. This is the front hair, so point a point B and then I can cut divide it. In half again check divide it in half, because you just want to have a traveling guide go around and if there's any little part you just cut, we run again around again this. This part was from the front, so I'm just going to bring it to the front. Remember you're leaving this front down and if you want to combine this front at the back you're, just bringing the hair all the way back and there's very little to cut because over directing would make this part longer than that. But it's still balanced and the bottom parts. I will just check with my comb. There'S anything protruding. I will do that. Oh I'm, just looking is for straight line four straight lines: anything for tuning I will cut and we'll check the other side. This is the front hair and this part there's a little part that I need to cut and then it's always good to check diagonally vertically different different directions, and my two fingers see the two fingers out because it's around the hairline and I'm checking she's done. Those are the peanut clippers. I like them, because they're light we're good, you just cut them. You don't want to make a very strict line for a lady, I'm not making a man's line in there just cleaning whatever it needs to be clean. There'S anything like this security: you could just lightly clean. Anyway, we did not style. The haircut is just the way it is free.

Pat Lord: I hope you are still monitoring video responses to this tutorial, because I owe you my deepest gratitude!  I live with and care for my elderly mother who has several very serious health concerns.  At this point, she is practically homebound...but like practically every woman of every age, she wants her hair to look neat and clean, and if can look cute as well, her spirits are greatly uplifted. Her short hair was beginning to look frightful as her curly perm grew and we'd had to cancel every hair appointment because of her ability to get out.  I looked on-line at several "how-to" videos and I admit to be terrified of trying to do it.  Yours was practical, calm and with easy-to-follow guidelines.  Your voice, almost more than anything, got me through the experience, as I kept pausing and replaying, until finally, I just listened while I worked, almost like you were there! The end result?  What can I say?  Mom's new hairstyle looked amazingly good and more importantly, it won't require a lot of maintenance. I, on the other hand, was drenched in sweat, shaking (in spite of the calm I absorbed from you?) and my back feels like it is breaking in two!  Everyone of you who do this for a living have my most profound respect!  But thank you, thank you for your guidance!

Marie Conforti: Thank you so much for this tutorial! My elderly mother is now is a nursing home and she asked me to cut her hair...I found your video and followed along with you and it came out so nice, Mom loved it! She was getting compliments all day, it made her feel so good! You were so clear and easy to follow, I will do this for her whenever she needs it. I thank you with all my heart!

jessi burrow: Thank you for this! Im going to try to cut my grandmas hair since she dont go anywhere bc of covid. I already cut my grandpas... my huband and all my kids, but she is so picky. This helps me feel more confident with cutting her hair.

ranchdiana1976: This was so perfect for my mom's haircut. She is 86 and does not feel comfortable leaving her home for a cut. Thank you for your help!

Helen Barker: Thank you, very helpful! I’ve also had to cut my mum’s hair in lockdown so this was a great tutorial :)

Lynette S.: Thank you so much for sharing this video <3. I was able to follow along and give my grandma a much needed haircut and she feels like a million bucks !!! So grateful you took the time to share how to do this haircut and thanks to the beautiful client =).

Tee: Wow she made this cut look so easy to do. In school I try so hard to be perfect by sectioning and taking my time and I still have issues with hair cutting. Thanks for the video...it gave me a new perspective on what I can be doing.

Sianb SFX: During my training as a hairdresser, i only had 2 short hair models, in my first job now and struggling with this type of haircut. This has made it so simple and now i cant wait to use your techniques instead. It will help build my confidence to become a better hairdresser

Nickol Reynolds: Wonderful video for cosmetology students, thank you for explaining everything so clearly and slowly, very very very helpful thank you!!!

Laura Dulski: My Mom has Alzheimer’s and can be very difficult at times so taking her to a salon is stressful. Following your video I was able to cut her hair today and it came out pretty well. This lady’s hair is exactly like Mom’s with the curl in it so it was perfect. Thank you!

Carol Spiller: This will be my guide to cutting my mother-in-law's hair tomorrow. I have watched it several times, and although her hair is thicker and curlier than the lady's in the video, I will do my best. My mother-in-law is homebound and has dementia, but is a cheerful lady despite the short-term memory losses. I am going to smile through the whole haircut, even though I am nervous. Thank you for your great guidance.

Lynne Elora: Thanks for this video❤️. My husband managed to follow it and cut my hair. I was scared when he said “do I need to put my glasses on” but he did a great job. Jeez what we’ll do in lockdown! Amazing

Heather's Heartworks: Great easy-to-understand instruction. Going to attempt my Mum's hair now. Thanks for the great tutorial... here's hoping!! :)

Amy Burnidge: Like others, I am cutting my mom’s hair because of the stay-at-home order. Your tutorial was so easy to follow. Thank you!

K C: Beautiful haircut and wonderful, patient explanation. Most reassuring to find this well-done tutorial. Desperately need my hair cut during this Covid19 lockdown. Now I just have to convince my husband to tackle this project. He is a former engineer and demands perfection....may take ALL DAY, if he agrees to do it. Is it possible for someone to cut their own hair using your method? Or would that be flirting with a major disaster? Thank you so much!

ghouliezhoulie: Thank you for this video! My grandma is in a nursing home and I will use this tutorial to give her a haircut she will love!

l j: Thank you for posting this video! I'm taking care of my 91 year old Grandma and am unable to get her haircut due to Covid-19. I'm feeling more confident after watching this video.

Carla Roush: I, too, watched this to provide my mom's-in-love a haircut during Stay-at-Home Order. This helped immensely! Appreciate your willingness to assist us at this time. While I know I can cut hair fairly well, I do NOT want this to be my profession, so will be excited to get back to some normalcy!

b norwood: My mom lives in a nursing home, is wheelchair bound, and except for paying for transport (minimum $60) she is stuck in the home. The person who used to cut her hair isn't willing to do it anymore. I am hoping to be able to cut her hair myself. She has always had her had cut short like the lady in the video. I'm going to attempt the cut myself by following your video. My mom is up for it because as she says, "It will grow back.... fast." Obviously it will take numerous attempts to get something close to what you have done. Thank you for the step by step instructions.

Andy Schmutzler: Thank you for taking the time to show us how to cut older women's hair. I 'm a 69 yr. old man and I have cut my own hair most of my adult life. If I made a mistake I was okay with that, but my wife is 71 and I've never cut a women's hair before, so watching your video will be a big help for me. I liked the clarity of using your fingers as a cutting guide.

SharpLikeScissors: Thank you so much for posting this video. It has helped me alot. I really love the fingers idea. You can't go wrong with that. I just started a low budget salon with no training and this has really helped. Thank you!

Awesome Tulips: Thanks a million best tutorial ever. It takes the mystery off giving a good hair cut ‍♀️ ‍♂️ ✂️ My elderly mom loved her haircut ❤

Lisa Fujioka: Best instruction for short hair for my elderly mom. Thank you!

Cynthia Poole: I liked this video a lot. I'm in cosmetology school now && we have done a million 90 degree cuts to our mannequin heads, but they all have longer hair. My grandma has been wanting me to cut her hair for her & she has shorter hair like the lady in this video, so this helped me a lot. Thanks for sharing :)

Minn Wise: Thank you for this. I've trimmed my children's hair in the past, but now my 90 yr old mom wants me to do her hair. It's a bit different then children's hair. ;-).

Peggy Pierson: Every time I'm asked to cut my elderly neighbor's hair I watch this video. It is so helpful as I am not trained to cut hair at all. Simply doing a favor to someone no longer able to go to the salon. You explain and demonstrate every step so easily! Thank you!

Maltise1: Hay thanks for this video. Im taking care of my grandmother now and she doesn’t want to go somewhere for a haircut and wants me to do it. This gives me an idea of what needs to be done! Thank you for the tutorial!

Nancy Guenther: I think this will help me cut my husband’s thin hair as well. I’ve cut it twice and it’s pretty uneven especially in back. The detail on guidelines and good camera work is great. Will watch again. Thank you so much!

Debbie Thompson: My mom called me an needed a haircut asap and asked for my help. I had 12 minutes warning and she was here. I watched this video at 1.75 times while she drove to my home. I have no experience cutting womens hair, just my 3 boys. This taught me everything I needed to know and she was out the door in 20 minutes. And she looked fabulous. Your pointers and tips took us to home base! That was so fun! Thank you for doing this video!

joanne delafo: May I add so important tips to this already knowledgable hair cutting lesson. Hair should be kept equally wet all over during the cut. Hair wet will be slightly longer than when it is dry (take this into account before cutting for the preferred results.) Curly hair can drastically look shorter once cut so better to cut less at 1st rather than too much. Curly hair once cut hides imperfections better than stick straight hair which is unforgiving of errors, it shows everything . Taking thinner sections to cut gives a cleaner/ smooth cut, than grabbing thick sections and trying to Finnish faster. I hope this helps to guide you with what already is a great video.

Michelle Duncan: Finally ... a super simple, easy to follow video. Thank you.

Carol Regala: Thank you so much for this. I cut my mom's short hair, it came out nice :)

Truth_ isBeauty: The kind hairdresser has such a calm and reassuring demeanor, she leaves nothing out, inspiring confidence in those of us who wish to home cut. I've watched several videos and enjoyed this one most of all.

J H: Wonderful to find this and just in time to "fix" my 92-year-old mother's hair that I cut the other day. This will shape it nicely as Mom's hair is exactly like this lady's...with the curls flipping up at the back and in front of the ears. I did my best the other day, and she was pleased, but this great tutorial will make it even nicer. It really helps to give our loved ones in lockdown a fresh do!!
