Hey everybody and welcome to this tiny little cramped bathroom. I think I did a pretty job with my makeup today, but this video is about hair, so I feel like it doesn't matter. Quite a few months ago, I decided to get a bit experimental with hair and I really wanted to try creating a version, at least of nineteen cannons of nineteen hundreds, like Edwardian style, hair, the sort of pompadour that is very much in. If you look at pretty much any photograph of a woman from that period, she will go through here. Probably, and something like this - I don't know if you can see the back in the mirror. Dude, it's not particularly sophisticated. It'S not that hard to do. I wanted to find something that was in between doing absolutely nothing with my hair, like just blah laziness and like fully styling and oh cool, big and fancy. So this to me is a kind of good halfway point: it's very easy to decorate the shape of it, and generally, you might think, is that wee bit weird, but it supposed to be like a cottage loaf. You know what I mean like this: the shape of bread does old-fashioned shape of bread. So it's like a cottage loaf hairstyle. I don't know if it particularly suits me and I have not done the best version of it today. I haven't practiced for quite a while, because of all this lockdown I haven't been able to get any more hair clips or the proper non shiny, hair spray. It'S not as good as I would like it to be, but I did just want to show you how it's done just for so many of you asked. I have a lot of historical hairstyles. I really want to try out, especially some really ambitious, difficult ones. I will get there eventually idea behind. This look is that it's supposed to be voluminous, but suave big and plump a little bit flyaway lots of soft feminine curls, it's very easily it donned. It would look really great with like some big flowers and every bit of feathers or I can get the right kind of hat. For example, it could support a hat, it doesn't freaking move either by the way it's pretty solid. It doesn't move that standing. So I will show you how I've been creating my early 1900s yeah. Let'S begin, oh very small in this bathroom I'm currently leaning awkwardly on the basin, so I'll do my best to get angles where you can actually see what I'm doing. I finally got around to coloring my hair. Oh, I didn't have enough to do the whole lot, whatever that's better than it was very mind, I'm not very good at doing here. So if I can do this, you can probably do it too. I want you to hold onto YouTube videos and we'll look just a whole lot of pictures and things to figure out this here, how the hairstyle is done, so this is kind of my version of it. I suppose so, hopefully you can get some inspiration or whatever. First parts a wee bit awkward, I straighten the front of my hair, but my hair is very wavy, so I thought it would be a wee bit easier that way. What you really want is one of those combs. That'S got like a stick on the end. You know for like separating hair, I do have one, but I have absolutely no idea where it's gone first thing also. I will say that this will be a lot easier if you have long hair, like kind of my length or longer end or thick hair. If you have quite short hair, you might want to look into getting some hair extensions like one of those clip-on buns or something like that or any of those wide pieces of clip in here. This look is about for you and the idea is it's supposed to be kind of large, but soft. You know it's me to be kind of voluminous but delicate and ladylike. So, first we're going to separate the hair from about half way down at the head, so sort of just about behind your ear is where you want it to be separated from I'm. So sorry, if it's like hard to see what I'm doing at any point, it's just so small in this room like there's a wall, there's a wall, I've been really wanting to try more kind of historical hairstyle. So we want him to do that for quite a long time I just never really gotten around to it. This is the only one. I'Ve had a go at so far separators making sure who I can't see something cool grab it once the front half and the back half are separate. It just mean to tie it up with a hair tie to get it out of the way cool. Please excuse me bits of my hair that I did not have enough here died for next, I'm going to take the back section of hair and, with another hair tie, tie it into fairly high bun, so, like quite close to the top of the divide there. I realized I do need the stick type things. I'Ve got this pointy make up brush here I can use whatever you have for fiddly hairstyles. I usually grab a hand mirror or something to see the back of my head very useful. As you can see, this is quite tight, but also a little bit messy, and what I'm going to do is messy it up a bit more see whatever you do this more later. Just helps to do a little bit now also use your fingers. Next is the fun part to do the front, but the big goofy bit in the front, the back in the day and long before the day to which I'm referring, women have used padding and things to do for their hair. Just look at the mix of hairstyles of the late 18th century that is not all natural. They used cushions and frames and padding and things, and what women in the Edwardian era did was they made their own padding, sometimes maybe out of a bit of pantyhose stocked with their own hair and to like a kind of sausage shape, so they could achieve the Pompadour you can't make something like that. If you want to doll here, is quite good, like Kanekalon, fake hair. A long long time ago, I had made the kind of thing of fake hair. I got like a bundle of black kanekalon and I used to use it as a pet to kind of create this sort of quick type thing. When I first started doing my hair the way I usually do it, I used to put like a bit of padding on top, so I could just kind of swoop it over makes things so much easier. So what I'm going to use now - and these are really really useful and extremely cheap - is this thing? Actually I've got two of them here they come in black brown blonde, whatever it doesn't super matter, it's ideal. If you can get one similar to your hair, color, be these things bright, doughnuts that you use for making funds absolutely everywhere and they cost hardly anything. So basically, I've just got two of these and I cut them in half and they fit the purpose extremely. But I am really hoping I have enough with everything: have you been closed for so long and it is the nature of bobby pins to become lost? You can buy hundreds of them and you never see me have any. I have been able to buy anymore and I've got hardly any left, so I really hope I've got enough to do this hair. So I'm going to take the first one of these and I'm going to put it right right up right here. So it's just. Can you see you're like just above my ear, is where I usually put it, and I clip that bad boy in you want to have it kind of as close to the front as possible. You want to ideally use the long bobby pins if you can get them just like that, and the second one is gon na go on the other side, Lexx ooh again, just above the end, you can kind of get it to connect with the other one. Those are there now we can take this up. I'M going to divide this into three parts. You don't have to do this. I find it's just a wee bit easier to do it that way. You'Re gon na have to just give it a wee bit of kick. This takes just bracelet of sucks, but a wee bit of kicks just barely bit of texture powder won't fit. This is just gon na be like sea salt sprays, optional, step, we're gon na, take the trusty fine-tooth comb and we're going to eat it with so slightly. Just a tiny way, but just backcomb this part just a wee bit just for some extra volume, nothing crazy. I want to have like a wee bit of a fringe. Okay, like a wee bit of hair of my face, because I recently randomly chopped it kind of stupidly, so I'll figure that out so with this nice and flat we're going to pull this over the penning and I'm gon na push it forward. It was so slightly and clip it just behind the padding you following me here: can you see yeah we go pulling it over and clipping that piece in place behind the padding might need two or three clips for that part. I'Ll fix my little friend Ebert's towards the end, all right, I'm gon na be using a wee bit of hairspray to keep it all up next section, just a wee bit off the front here. There'S some bangs a bit of spray after sticks, joke tiny, tiny amount of bit coming: dude, dude, well luminous, but soft Andy. This thing doesn't have to be like perfectly covering the pattern when you first pull it on just basically make sure it's it's dead, but it's in place once it's clip, then you can kind of pull it down. So it covers it better like fill with or leave it pick, maybe man. I wish I hey kind of just doing this by feel it's very hard to see what I'm doing and you can kind of pull it a little bit. It covers the padding entirely and and the same game. It was the last piece separating away bits. Look in here some things, they're going to be fun bags to on the curled real card attack. I feel like this look is quite good for me and for those of us whose hair is just it just wants to be a bit messy cuz like if you look at photographs from the time they're a little bit, not too neat. Just a wee bit fly away over in behind. You can see, there's still some padding poking out, and so this is where we can pull these parts we put so that they cover the padding in Thailand. You don't see it at all, tickling my ears, the next bits wee bit difficult. Nobody can describe this, not the ponytail, but the the back of the pieces that we just pulled over these. These bits that we'll be hiding behind the padding I'll locate. Those very very carefully it doesn't super matter in which direction you go. You kind of roll them like that, like a big loop and put that right behind the padding clip that in place doesn't have to be perfect. She doesn't have to be neat and tidy we've. Actually helped us to tie this week, ponytail piece out of the way for a moment, I'm running out of hair clips horrifyingly quickly, so I'm just going to get onto the next button. If there's any like loose butts hanging around or five any clips left I'll be very pleased now I'll put a ponytail, basically gon na. Do the exact same thing, I'm going to separate that kind of roughly into pieces about sort of about this big, maybe leave it more than that. Also you can give the sweet bit of a back home if you like, not necessary, but a texture spray. It doesn't hurt well, so if you can get your hands on any of this, like texture powder, this, like volume, boosting powder, the show's legendary, if you want big goofy here, this is the answer. This is my favorite. One got to be powerful, can't get it in New Zealand. You don't have to I'm just gon na give this little gainer Tipsy bit of a poof and do the same thing as I did with the other pieces. So I'm just gon na go and roll them, and my fingers not like that. But better. Can you see how I'm doing like that and then I'm gon na clip it around the bun. Looking like that out, a wee bit more underneath 20 telefónica make the sort of pseudo bun. This is a very rough job, but I think it's okay, we'll try and get the curly bits to stand up as much as possible. I'M gon na try and fix this. Now don't leave a wee bit out over my forehead, I'm gon na try for substance keeping these here. They aren't gon na stay like that. No, I'm gon na use the hairspray and with the hairspray you spray it on and smooth feel free to use a less crappy hair sprays on this one. Now I'm not super good at this, but it was me, can you just put a hairspray or gel, or even just water wicking, the bangs all the way from the reach and before it dries I'm going to kill it with my fingers pretty tightly? I can't remember if it was better to do it like the curl to do the curl, inwards or outwards. I could don't remember and then the same on the other side. You can leave them like that. If you think that looks cute gives it a slight Georgian flare, these a little like tubular bits. That is not what I'm doing, though, but it's a look so water just to make it extra moist doing this takes a little bit of practice. I kind of keep my finger through it and then slide the pin over my finger so that it grabs the whole lot, the more curl you can add to this hairstyle, the better soft feminine curves, but this like random bit of hair hanging down. So I might give that a wee bit of a curl too. Oh, I just stopped working on my front here. We gather a little bit of a spring dry faster in spring. What I should have done really is made the little bun at the back hi. I think if I've done anything particularly wrong, sometimes when I take these out, they look very stupid and sometimes they look perfect and lovely. So, let's see okay, it's supposed to be really like a spring. I didn't leave that for long enough. I'M just gon na redo that one and I can replace the battery because it's about to die so, okay, that's better! It still feels a bit with the curly bangs, just a nanny just not happening again. I usually like to have it like a really tight spiral. It just doesn't want to so generally. This is a quite off the face style. I like to hear around my face, how's that better, worse really made up this hairspray. It'S really shiny. Actually, I think, maybe like one with a more of a matte finish, would be a little bit better cuz. This is like very shiny. Obviously, that's not the best job I've ever done, but you get the idea at least don't you it's something different to try. It'S something super super out of fashion. This look went out about a hundred and ten years ago, but I think it's ready for a comeback. Obviously it would look a lot more authentic with proper makeup and proper outfit on. It always gets a lot of compliments just because you don't see it anymore. I feel like I look like my own great-grandmother. I know that nowadays, shiny hair is very desirable because for some reason we thought I near equals healthy hair. I believe that in the past there was never a thing. So if you want a more authentic look, don't go for a shiny, hair spray. I'Ve been using this hair spray, I guess it's all a curse and it's probably a shiny. I think it's a fun thing to do it's a wee bit inspired by history and you can get really creative with it too. I mean this is pretty plain, but if you look at a lot of old photographs, you can see that there's all different sort of shapes and things that people would have put their palm. It made something I like to do when I go visit a family so, like I did my hair look kinda like this on Christmas Day, for example, because I still kind of an unusual hairstyle, but it's not as wild and strange as my usual hair. Thank you very much for joining me here in this tiny wee, cramped bathroom hope. You'Ve had a nice time we're just gon na walk when we fetch my part on the in here, and so, if you have not already done so, please subscribe to my channel and, as always, take care of yourselves be nice to each other, and I will see You next time,

Cassaroll: This hairstyle is so beautiful! Especially with black hair. looks Romantic idk lol

First born unicorn: She looks so good with her hair down. Let’s start a petition.

Ivy Mae: I just watched Bernadette Banner do this too! It looks so cool in the end. ^_^ I'm actually contemplating trying out some 1880's hairstyles in the future. I like Edwardian, but I really love the late 1800's fashion the most.

Retto: This looks fantastic, actually! I love the way it creates a unique silhouette with the rest of your look :)

M. H. Wells: This hairstyle is completely and utterly stunning on you. You have such a great face shape for it -- with and without the contour, I'd imagine. Delighted to get new content from you! Best regards from Canada! ♡

Karen Krista Tulinius: How did two very different youtubers that have almost nothing in common both post Edwardian hairstyle videos within 6 hours of each other

jan stan: That was really interesting. I loved the show, "Penny Dreadful" and that had TONS of Edwardian styles and cool looks.

megan lawrence: Honestly, this looks bloody amazing on you! Elegant but still having your style and personality. Absolutely gorgeous

Onyx Crystal: I'm glad you went to using structural padding to help with that style- it makes it so much easier! You can also braid your ponytail for a more woven, tighter bun. Fantastic look!

Subliminal Escape: I've always liked that hair style. A friend of mine used to sometimes do a loose bun but not as accentuated, she used to look like the photo you showed, or like a painting. This is a very becoming hairstyle on you. It reminds me of both Elvira and Bride of Frankenstein.

RandomLozicle: I used to work with an older lady who had waist length hair and she used to have this hair style EVERY DAY for work. She didn't use padding - she just had sooo much hair. She looked amazing <3

Cemetery Goth: Beautiful I love old stuff as well that went out of style hundreds of years ago. & you look beautiful as always

Amanda Greer: One of the only women I've ever seen who looks beautiful however she wears her hair! Down- gorgeous, pony tail - gorgeous, in a devine updo - gorgeous!! Also I could just listen to her talk for hours! Much love from NC

Afthonia Chavvah: Can you imagine if this was your history teacher...

Cat Walters: "The nature of bobby pins to become lost" I've only just realised I have long hair (it's been a number of years) and honestly thought that was bullshit. Nope, can't find even half of the dam things despite buying a whole new pack a few months ago. Equally, this hair is amazing and a great wearable version of the style. I'm giving it a go....if I can find more bobby pins.

Jo Vsitalo: You could totally rock a Frankenstein's Bride hair do!

TheyCallMeRae: Honestly, you look so beautiful with your hair like that. You're beautiful either way of course, but this style suits you so well. I LOVE IT!!

Des / Moxie McD: You look beautiful! That hair is so lovely. Imagine some cute skull pins tucked in there or a bat as a bow. The potential is there.

zwykly pies: Ahh, Gibson girl!!! I love this hairstyle, my grandma always does her hair like that and she started 53 years ago! I was truly shocked when I saw her one day in the morning with hair so long, it almost reached her elbows!

blueeyedtara: My great aunt would style her hair like this every day. Beautiful memory for me. ❤️

Daniel Lloyd: Such a perfect style to give your hair a bit of a break from the teasing! Looks amazing, so elegant and classy! Beautiful lady x

NikyPinkie: I loved this hairstyle on you

j. brandon: This came out amazing! I think it would be a really cool move for you and your channel to do a vintage hair styling series. Especially seeing these sort of vintage styles of hair in contrast to your own personal style would be nothing short of absolutely intriguing.

marla taylor: i wonder what ppl were thinking when starting this hairstyle..:” oh this is such a lovely loaf of bread! let’s make our hair resemble this lovely bun”. this look last amazing on you too

Sophia Nílsson: Hey I'm in Wellington and I have like 4 or 5 boxes of black hair dye I am trying to get rid of (I'm growing out my natural hair to donate so don't dye it black for the next few years lol). Can I send it to you or something?

Ana AC: I love it! Thank you for sharing this, it is also sweet to also see the history nerdy side of you <3 I would love to see a Rococo/18th Century French Aristocracy hairstyle next... Now I'm excited to see an all-black version of Marie Antoinette, the total opposite to the pastel colors!

Emily Calle: New drinking game, take a shot every time you say ‘wee bit’

erica borland: Edwardian is my favourite historical style

E Rose: I think it looks beautiful!!! I love that you’re changing up your hair. I can’t do shit with my hair so I applaud you!!

Satan's Wife: Ah the first time I watched this video, I didn't deeply realized how beautiful it really was, I personally hate it when people assume “old timy stuff, dresses and hairs” are definitely from the Victorian era, I love this video you gave it justice it's an Edwardian style

Madison Anthony: This style is absolutely stunning on you!

JC: This hair AND makeup is stunning!!

Amanda Bailey: I'm so excited for more hair videos from you. You have such great hair for these types of styles and you always look amazing. Love the way you're doing your brows these days btw!

Raven Of Shadows: You should do an Elvira look in a future video. Just a suggestion.

sideshowericka: Okay so I followed your tutorial and it's so easy. I didn't use a hair rat or padding. Just teased and hair sprayed the heck out of my hair Took like 10 minutes. Thanks for sharing this!!

Scandi Snowgirl: I LOVE this look on you! More of these videos please!!!

Dessa Morgan: I genuinely love this hairstyle on you. Being able to see more of your face as well as elongating your neck are two pluses about it. I hope to see you use it again, especially with some sort of headpiece or veil added. Great job.

T Beans: I absolutely loved this and I'm looking forward to more historical hair styles

mischa zav: I think this is my favorite hair look from you, yet.

Katharina Mic: The hairstyle looks so good on you!! <3 This makes me wanna grow out my hair a bit longer and try it for myself, although I have no idea how that would turn out since I never really do anything with my hair haha ;;

Celia Hernando Alarcia: I come directly from Bernadette Banner's Edwardian hair tutorial and she used an egg hair wash and recreated a simple pompadour. She used a hair rat made of her own hair as well. Yours look stunning, historically accurate and it's a much more feasible approach! <3 If only I had the courage to rock this

xfallenxlostx: I think it looks quite nice! If you can get your hands on charcoal pills (or burn the hell out of toast and grind into a fine powder to make your own), you can use a powder brush to apply that to your hair and mattify the shine.

Ксенія Ютілова: That fits you perfectly! By the way, I know a girl who makes a hairstyle like this for everyday. She literally lives in all Edwardian, her dresses, bedroom, even underwear are of the style of 19 century, and some details are real historical artifacts. natalia maraldo: I love it. It's very flattering, and goes very well with your sort of neo-victorian look. Very Gibson girl. L. Valo: Love it♥️please do more of this!

Metzli: How come you're amazing at everything you do? :3

My name is Shell: Her hair down is soo pretty! I leaned on the gothic side of life as a teen, not so much now. I love that she does what she wants and that she has a sense of humor and is kind. She isn’t what you expect from a “goth”.

Nadine Miller: I LOVE THIS LOOK! YOU ALWAYS LOOK BEAUTIFUL

Taylour S.: I did a 1920s replica wedding hairstyle for my brother's wedding a few years ago and got lots of compliments. Took a very long time to do. It was from a wedding in 1920 or 1921 before the bob became super popular and women still had very long hair.
