Welcome to tips for Clips today, I'm gon na show you the easiest and simplest way to cut your own hair. Turning it from this into this. The first step is very simple. Just part your hair, naturally, how you'll want to brush it after the haircut is over. Then take your clippers. This is the long position. This is the short position, also known as opened or closed. I'Ve taken the number 4 here which reads 13 millimeters and that is in the closed or short position and I'm gon na leave it in this position. For most of the haircut, so the goal here is to fade into the longest hair on top to blend from the number four into my crown and notice how I can blend behind my ears before even turning around. This is a very simple step, but take your time on e, because it sets the foundation for the rest of the haircut and when you're happy with this side and feel that it's blended enough with the hair on top you'll switch over to the other side and You'Re going to do the exact same thing: no tricks just blend using the number four in the closed or short position into the longest hair. On top to help you blend into that long hair. On top the higher I go the further away. I pull the Clippers from my head. If you have any trouble with this step, you can start off with the number six above, where I'm going with the number four and you'll. Do the exact same thing on the back now part of the trick with cutting the back of your hair is actually turning around so that the large mirror is behind you and you're holding a small handheld mirror, as opposed to looking towards the big mirror and holding A smaller mirror behind your head, so this actually helps you can hold the Clippers still in your dominant hand, and just make sure that you go through with the number four blending into the longest hair on top, just as you did with the sides. Take your time and when you're satisfied here, you're gon na switch out the number four clip for number three click. The number three clip reads: ten millimeters and the lever position is still in the closed or short position. I have not changed it, and the goal here is to blend in to the four that you just previously cut you're gon na go about an inch under where you just cut and it's gon na blend very very easily. This is sort of an effortless step and you're going to do the exact same thing. On the other side, when you get to the back, you can already sort of gauge how high you're supposed to go, because you've used the number four and also because you've already used the number three a little bit behind your ears. As you are looking towards the big mirror, so you can see it blends just very naturally very easily to make sure it's a nice and smooth blend. You can move your head around to get some different lighting so that you can see and make sure that there's no patches or blotches of hair and that it's exactly what you want before. Moving on to the next step, the next step we'll be using on number two which reads: six millimeters and it's still in the closed lever position, and you can see for this step. I'M going just a little bit above my ears, maybe about an inch above my ears, blending into the number three that I just cut. So you don't want to go past where you went with the number three you want to go just below that and, as always, do the same thing on both sides. This also ends up saving you a lot of time, because, while you have a clip in it's in the same position and you just go both sides and the back and that's why I do it this way. For the sake of time, in the back, no new tricks using the four, the three and the two that we've used so far, it's actually very easy to blend. I recommend this haircut to anybody and you can actually stop right here and fast forward to trimming your hair on top and shaping up the sides in the back. This is a very sufficient self haircut for anybody. I, however, will keep going because I want it. Just a little shorter on the sides, so I took the number one clip that reads: three millimeters and it's the first time, I'm putting it in the long lever position the open position and I'm gon na go just to the top of my ear. I don't want to go too high and risk messing up the number two that I just previously cut same exact thing on the other side, and now I'm just going to move the lever in the closed position and just go on my sideburns and get a little Bit more of a fade, a nice clean transition again go lower than where you just went with the open lever. One I'll do the same thing. On the other side, just along my sideburns and now this is all I'm gon na do in terms of fading on the sides. I'M done with my fade on the sides. Now I'm gon na start working on the back and the back. I have some cowlicks as you'll. See that are a little tough to get rid of chances are it'll, be much easier for you than it is for me, and that's good news for you. So I'm taking the long opened position number one guard and I'm fading into the number two. This was the last step that I left off in the back and again nothing to it. You just did it on the sides, so you do the exact same thing on the back, but be more careful and more cautious because, as you get to the number one and lower, it gets a little more tricky. As I mention and you'll see me turning the Clippers upside down, often because they have to go in the opposite direction of the way my hair grows and because of the calyx, the hair grows up. So I'm going downwards with the Clippers same number, one clip in the closed position as I did on the sides, and you can see that I'm starting to transition and fade out into almost no hair at the bottom, which will help me to avoid shaping up the Bottom of my neck and blending it into nothing in the back is also called tapering. You can taper the fade in the back. You can even taper the fade on the sides. It means to blend it out into pretty much a zero and the last step. I'Ll. Take all the Clippers and guards off put the lever in the long position and go along the bottom of my neck, just to make sure that it perfectly fades out in this final step of the fade, if you're brave enough to try this step and to go This short, be very careful because if you go too high, you're gon na have to start a lot of your fading again and use some of the other clips, which is not a big deal. You can always fix it, but it'll just take some more time, but be very cautious with this when you're using the Clippers without any guards. You can tell that this really works for me, because the more I keep going, the more I'm getting rid of the cowlicks and all the lines that are back there and you'll see by the end of the haircut. It'S gon na look a lot better than when I started or if I hadn't faded. This short, I receive a lot of questions on how to cut the hair on top. So let me take a minute here to demonstrate this is the simplest way for me. I just run my hair through my hands and you sort of get a feel for. What'S too long, the hair starts curling at the ends and it's a little bit longer than the rest of the hair. That'S what I'm trying to pinpoint and I cut about half an inch to an inch off. I keep rushing my hair and when I sense that something is a little too long or it doesn't look the exact way that I want it to. I go ahead and I pinpoint that hair and I give it a couple snips and, as you see, I just feel it out. That'S the best advice I have if you're a beginner at home. The last step is the shape up. I'M just shaping up around my sideburns and my ears: cleaning up any extra hairs, making it a nice smooth transition between my sideburns and my beard and now for the trickiest part of the haircut shaping up the back best advice is: take your time hold the mirror In place and let your brain sort of get acquainted with how, when you move one way, you think you're moving one way, you're actually moving in the opposite direction. So take your time here. All you want to do is make a perfectly straight line, and since I already tapered off the back of my hair, I won't have to worry about the bottom line. The horizontal line. Only these two lines on the side take your sweet time. Few minutes, once you get this step done, you are done and you will be left with a great haircut. I am not ambidextrous, I'm not a lefty, but I found it a little bit easier to use my left hand right here and because my trim of lead is in the shape of a tee, I can use the edge of the blade to pinpoint the exact hairs. I want to cut, and that is a it was such a big transition from where I started here is the final product. You can stop at any point in this haircut depending on how short you want the sides so you're flexible. I went pretty short just to show you variability. I put some product after washing my hair, here's what I started with quite a big difference and here is the finished product. I hope you learned a few tips. I hope you're able to cut your hair at home. I hope everyone is safe and well. Thank you for all the support for this channel. I'Ve linked the Clippers and the trimmers that I used here in my video description below please subscribe share like comment here are some of my other videos and I'll see you at the next video

Peace Ninja: This looks so easy! I’ll give it a try Results:

Rays Metal Tracks: Its been 8 months since I first saw this video and I've cut my own hair ever since. The first few times were a bit tricky, but now I finally have a feel for it. I come back and watch it for a refresher each time. Has to be the most helpful video on YouTube! Thank you!!!

Oliver Nordin: Youtube watch next recommendation: How to grow your hair faster

Nicholas Woo: So, I've done this twice because of lockdown and it really worked quite well. I honestly don't know why I've been paying so much money the past 30 years when this works out so well. I've paid money for worse haircuts!

Fabian Rott: Absolutely awesome tutorial, ended up way better than I expected. I was a bit cautious with the length, so I started with a six and ended up at a two, which still gave me a nice haircut. Definitely will be trying again in a month!

Psicologia Transpessoal 108: Tried to cut my own hair yesterday and the result was a disaster. Followed this tutorial today and now it looks amazing! Plus, it feels so manly to be able to cut my own hair. Looking fresh now. And feeling great. Thank you so much!

Brian Aiello: GREAT video! I’m an older guy (63) and started cutting my own hair over 30 years ago. All my friends thought I was nuts even giving it a try. I used the same method you use but at first I didn’t use the progressively smaller guards — I think I just used a 5 and then trimmed around my ears and lower back. It took me a few months to feel comfortable, and eventually stopped using the mirror when doing the back. You are so right about getting the feel for doing this. It becomes very comfortable just like you said. Cutting your own hair not only saves you money, but a lot of time as well! And you can tidy up anytime. I’ve tried to get my son to do it but he won’t even give it a try. By the dude, you got some great hair there!

Gareth H: I've been cutting my own hair since lockdown, and now it's quite long on top I was nervous to take some clippers to it but got GREAT results with this tutorial. Thank you bro. I will say with Wahl that dropping from a closed 2 to a closed 1 guard is quite a drop in length, so get yourself a 1 and a half guard to fade the lines out if you're using Wahl clippers

Soroush Yazdani: Love this guy!! Literally because of this guy started cutting my own hair and all my family were shocked because how good the fade looked, last weekend I gave all my male family members haircuts by following these steps and it came out great!! Thanks brother!! Keep up the great work!!

Kirsty Macfarlane: I've been cutting my husbands hair for 26 years and he's always been happy with an all over number one or zero! He's wanted a fade for a wee while and I didn't have the confidence to do it until I watched your video. I did it yesterday and it looks great! Thank you so much for your help and education, much appreciated

sunnyvibess_YT: This was a great tutorial. Everyone was amazed at how great my hair looked. This is the second time I’ve watched your video and was very easy to follow and do! Thank you!!!

T T: This is awesome! I thought this was too hard for me to ever do on my own, but this video made it easy. Now I can do most of it even without a mirror. Once you can do it yourself, your standards regarding your own hairstyle/grooming rise. I used to think it was normal to have the back shaped only when I get a haircut every 2 months. But now, I do it myself quite often, with the 'new' look available all the time. The standards have risen.

hitlikeagirl09: Thank you for sharing! I’ve cut hair for the men in my house a couple times since lockdown. It came out ok but could be better. They’ve asked me again so the pressure is on. I found your video and it answers so many questions I’ve had, especially the whole open/closed thing. I’m feeling confident for my next round. So glad I found your instructions. You Rock man.

Enes Sertkan: Amazing simple and easy way, thanks, this was my first time cutting my own hair, and I believe it looks really nice for a first timer.

robbierisque: Great tutorial, and good job filming that in a way that makes it easy to follow along in my own mirror. Thanks to you I have a fresh cut and it feels so good!

Maaz Ahmed: Thank you for making this video. I've watched so many of these, but this one was the most helpful. I managed to cut my own hair, and I'm really happy with the results. Cheers!

theoriginal: PERFECTION!! I thought I was gonna learn something new but this is exactly what I do!! Very happy to have watched this. You do a great job!!

J W.: I've been watching a lot of self hair cutting vids and by far yours is the easiest and simpliest way of doing it. I also appreciate the fact that you explain every step in a clear and concise manner so that it was easy to follow. Also that you let the viewers know where the lever locations is at at all times whether it is open or closed which is important. So many Ytubers who make this kind of vids never show that which is frustrating. So I really appreciate it. Thanks so much for making this vid. I'm definitely going to try this out.

fabs tems: Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed and I think this style will go really well with me!

Marcel Lecours: Thanks so much for this great video. Love the lack of fancy intros, fanfare and preambles. Informative and to the point. Just followed your steps and gave myself a pretty decent haircut. I'm very impressed at how well it went. Thank you!

Luciano Aldana: Thank you for showing us how to cut our own hair in these times of sheltering at home--that was a homerun!

Steve Kinney: Great video! I have been cutting my own hair the past few months using this method and it has come out perfect everytime.

Richard Hooper: I staretd to cut my own hair in my 20s as no Barber in my town had a clue, I'm now a qualified Barber and can cut my hair to perfection with a low fade better than most barbers can! So give it a go this is a great video and shows how to use all the combs down to zero and it's not too hard to master. I sometimes go to a barber just to try them out but everytime I come home I have to finish it off, I think they tend to rush!

Rebecca: Thank you very much for this tutorial. I really appreciate it! I have been on YouTube for the past hour trying to figure out how to cut my teenage son's hair and this is the best video I have come across. I have taken notes on what you said. I feel confident that I will do a great job based on the great tips you have provided. Thanks again!

Tony Jablonski: Brilliant video. Thank you so much for taking the time to help people cut their own hair. You demonstrated everything really well. Job done!

Hayk Samvelyan: Your tutorials have helped me keep my sanity during this pandemic and I have successfully done my 3rd haircut thanks to you.

John Regan: This is probably the best guide I've found. We wear our hair the same way which definitely made it less of a guessing game but I was able to give myself basically a bald low fade with this guide and my room mates all thought I went to the barber. Thanks man!

Tony Milone: Thanks for your detailed explanation. Very nicely done. I didn’t do the same haircut, but the techniques you explained helped me to achieve a good haircut. I am actually getting compliments on my hair, which I think is hilarious, because I barely know what I am doing. You gave me enough to get started. Thank you.

MooseyCanuck: I've been cutting my own hair for 10 years but never blended my hair because I didn't know how to do it lol. But this is such an amazing haircut tutorial. Thank you so much! I will try this

inversie: Thanks for the tutorial! I was super nervous when I started, and thought I messed up when I went to do the back, but everything turned out just fine. Not a perfect haircut, but it's better than a lot of haircuts that I've paid for in the past. Took about 1.5 hours all in all with lots of breaks and time spent partitioning my hair to make sure only what I wanted cut was getting cut.

colibrilibre: Great tutorial. My first cut was not so great, but OK though. I am still practizing. The second time now it got better! (y) Thank you so much! I will keep on trying and hope one day I manage to cut it just as perfectly as you do!

Sam Boswell: Wow you made that look easy. It’s difficult enough doing someone else’s hair when it comes to blending etc. I rate you for being able to cut your OWN hair so good! Thanks for making this video it helped me a lot

DragonWarrior7771: Great tutorial! Mine came out great for my first time. The key is patience, don't rush it and you guys will do great too

MarioBrosZr: Just did mine and actually looks pretty good for a first try! Great video!

N M: This is the best beginners' hair cutting tutorial on YT, and I've been through hundreds. He starts with a #4 straight up to blend the top, which anyone can do, and then slowly transitions down to a #1. My barber does the same. It is hard to mess up #2-4 since no skin is visible, just be careful with the smaller guards. Most other tutorials here have you starting from a bald line and working up, or playing with the taper lever 4-5 times during the fade (half way open, 3/4 open, etc.), or something else ridiculous.

raimund Penu: Great job, buddy! This worked really well! Mine looks a lot less even than yours but watching this video first definitely helped :) Thank you!

Rems151: Great video! I've been cutting my own hair since late March but I just use a 4 on the back and sides and scissors on top. I'm excited to try and fade my hair! I cut it every 3 weeks so I'm due for the next haircut on the 21st.

Chenga Feyr Hudafis: Fantastic video! Got rated 8/10 for my 3rd haircut all thanks to you!

Mandeep Sehmi: This is really good, I followed his method during the first lockdown and after a few haircuts, I was confident enough to start skin fading from higher up. It takes a while but now its so much easier and I can get my own haircut done in 30-45 mins every 4 weeks

Robertgmz5: This is exactly how I cut my hair! Same technique and it came out great! Great job man! You're helping a lot of people!

keith shwalbe: An excellent set of clear and helpful instructions. Thank you.

Ahmed Khan: Thank you so much, I cut my own hair for the first time today. You made it look easy though :P it was difficult but following you step by step worked really well.

pesetas64: Brilliantly done! Thank you! I'll be doing this soon!

David Morrell: Just what is needed during the covid lockdown. Thanks it was very clearly presented and got me started.

Mike S: Thanks man, you gave me the confidence to cut my own hair and it actually came out pretty good. You rock.

Robert Benetton Sarmiento: More power to you brother. Thanks for sharing this video. I learned how to cut my hair during this pandemic and it helped a lot!

Patsy Fernandes: This is one of the best hair cut tutorial I have ever seen. Very well explained.

Ruben M: Thank you so much. Very satisfied with the results. Got me over the fear of the first haircut!

Todd R Klein: Great instructional video. Presented in a very straightforward and uncomplicated matter. Superbly done.

Preci Capiral: Thank you for a very clearly shown and explained tutorial!

Bean Spock: Excellent instructive video! I really like the points where the uploader gives good advice about the mirrors use and where he gives clear warnings where the user must pay close attention not to mess things up. Thank you.

Vero Moreno-Diaz: What a great haircut! You do a great job doing it and explaining how to :-)

VinceFS: This is the best haircut tutorial I've seen. I appreciate you explaining the open and closed guards. You keep it simple. Part your hair. Use a 4 guard to shave up to your part and use a lower guard for each inch you go down to your ears. Thanks dude.

Raven Batchar: I tried it first time, looks easy on the videos but I am satisfied on how it went overall- I went to 12mm to 9mm was too nervous to go lower, definetly has a learning curve! but the hardest part is over which is the first time! looking forward to cut my hair from here on out!

David M: Amazing! Cut my hair the other day. Came out ALRIGHT, but I left it a little long on purpose in case I needed to go back in a correct something. This gave me a good idea on how to approach and fix the fade. Cheers!

אמיר אופיר: Thank you. I just tried to cut my hair (took over 1 hour) using your method but with 24-20-18-16 mm (I like it long) and it worked. You sir, are amazing

jackplunderbones: Thanks for sharing this man! I watched your video, and just tried cutting my own hair for the very first time today and my wife says it looks as good as when I get it cut by a professional!

Brynn Neilson: Great tutorial. Very clear and logical. Thanks.

Asdrubale Girolamo: I have been cutting my own hair for a couple of years and I can almost do the back part without a second mirror! it's kind of fun, plus it's something that will always be useful to you for the rest of your life, you can do your hair however you want and whenever, saving a trip to the barber and a little bit of money as well.

Green Smoke: I cut my hair today and it was awesome , and I was shocked that I can cut my own hair that good , my wife said you cut it very good. Thanks man ! Stay healthy !

ccsrey14: Thank you so much. Just cut mine and it looks great. To anyone having problems with their cuts. Remember you can always take more off. So start long on your first go.

pdavda: Great video! Thanks for the tips. Especially the tip for using the "big mirror" to see the back rather than the handheld mirror. Your videos have me the confidence to cut my hair during this lockdown and I think it turned out really well.

Kedgwell: I watched a number of tutorials, but this is the one that worked for me. I actually gave myself a decent haircut. Part of being a good teacher is being reassuring and encouraging, and this guy does that. There are no wasted words here, nothing to distract you from the task at hand, which is cutting your hair. Two things: I didn't want to use scissors, so for the top I used the clippers with attachment 5, which worked decently. I might try 6 for the top next time, to leave more hair, but 5 was OK. Also, I decided I wanted a line at the back of my neck, so I looked at some of his other videos where he shows that. I'm grateful for this video and this channel.

Duha Ikiz: Dude great advice. I have been cutting my own hair for a year, but never watched a tutorial until now. There are a lot of good info here

Crookqt: Out of all the videos I've watched to do my first haircut this is the best, simplest and easiest also the haricut itself is simple and easy. Thank you kind sir :)

Pablo Ortega: Changed the game for me! Easy to follow and my gf says my hair looks pretty damn good. Thanks for the vid!

Sean Davies: Girlfriend cut my hair following this video - cut turned out great! Thanks for the well explained and easy to follow tutorial!

BrownOath: This was so helpful! For a first try it came out pretty good. Great vid!

Juventino Godina: I've been cutting my hair for awhile and I've never liked the way it came out. Today I watched your video and cut my hair afterwards and your tips made a big difference! Best hair cut in a long time. Thank you!!

Linda C.P.: I just cut my 91 year old mother's hair for the first time. Thanks to you....I did a great job! Thank You!

Dan Azar: This is Lisa, and I am a hairstylist who is losing her hair a bit. Thank you for this video. My hair turned out perfect. Your instruction was so easy and so clear. Amazing.

Jamie: thanks so much for this man! was really nervous to do it myself for the first time, but it turned out surprisingly really well! anyone hesitating should just do it, this technique is great. cheers again!

L F: I now can cut my own hair pretty good. Getting better each time. Instructions from you are so much appreciated. Thank you.

Ludo: Thanks for the video ! I watch it every time I need to self cut my hair in this lock down period of barbers (but I'll get back to them asa the reopen). Not that difficult to do, even if I never feel comfortable ... Thanks !

APerry: Mate, thanks so much for this tutorial, you legend. Never going to a hairdresser again, super pleased with the results; some advice to people doing this for the first time - start with a high number like a 6. It’s really hard to go wrong and it looks fine as a 6 anyway - it’s actually a good level of shortness.

Stephen Young: Thank you for sharing your video! By far, the best and easiest hair cutting video in youtube land! I got admit, in the beginning and had never cut my own hair before, I had rat bites but kept at it. I have been using your technique now for over 25 hair cuts and the "errors" disappear and gets easier. No paying, no waiting, no finding a barber . . . and best of all, getting the look you want! At least something positive came out of the Covid lockdown! Thanks again!

Yann LL: Dude you literally just saved my life I gave up waiting another month for a haircut as I'm looking more and more like a caveman (last haircut was in January, didn't have time to go before lockdown). Just received my clippers today, and man I will go to town following this tutorial!

Patrick Lynch: Thanks for this video! Just cut my hair following this strategy and it looks great.

jeffwang0725: I cut my own hair using this technique for the first time. I am very impressed with the results. It took me 1.5hr. Big thumbs up to the video.

Danqo Dusk: You did an awesome job, and provided great instructions. Thank you! I'm going to try the cut with longer guards and see if I can get the feel for fading. Kudos, bro!

Jay Jordan: Wow thanks for this video! U gave me the confidence to try it. I surprised myself with how good it turned out. Will continue to keep learning this skill. :)

Luke Hall: Thank you so much my dude! Just gave myself a cut with the new clippers I got and it turned out amazing, followed your instructions except for the top I just went over with the no10 comb. Thanks again brother!

Jake Biddlecome: I've been cutting my own hair for years, but honestly it didn't look great. I had looked up videos to help before but decided to look again and glad I came across this one. Simply explained, adjustable to varying styles, and enough detail to feel confident trying these tips myself. You can't overestimate a useful video like this. Thanks for sharing!

Hoss Bonaventure CEO: Just finished my haircut and it looks GREAT!! Thanks for the video dude.

ModelSport: Great video. Best I've seen and at just 10 minutes, perfect to watch twice. Well done.

davis thomas: Thanks a lot for the stages and steps! Didn't expect mine to turn out as well as it finally did.

JozefN: I just tried cutting my hair for the first time after watching this video, and honestly it went super well. I think you just made my barber lose a client. Thanks!

The Soloveichiks: Worked beautifully! Keep calm at the beginning, it will start out looking TERRIBLE but really turns out. I have hair that layers similarly to his but curly (think mop top). Followed this guide and it worked out great! Had my mom do those last 3 lines on the neck. Better than any cut I've paid for.

jdmxxx38: Thanks for the video. Great demonstration of how to handle the process. Very useful.

nypd4683: I’ve been cutting my hair for 5 years and this video finally made it easy.
