How to do a fade at home step by step the easy, fool-proof way. I'll give you all the information you need to cut hair at home like a pro. This is the easiest way that I have found to fade my son's hair at home with great results.

The clippers I used were the Andis Envy Adjustable Clippers in red: https://amzn.to/36VvBtY

For the Shape up I used the Andis T Outliner: https://amzn.to/35YKp9Z

3 Year Protection Plan: https://amzn.to/2zWNcpl

To clean your clippers try Andis Cool Care Plus: https://amzn.to/2FWQvNy

Make sure to condition the hair after cutting to keep it healthy and shiny.

Thanks for watching!

The first thing you want to do is detangle the hair. If you have a hard time getting the comb through just spritz it with a little bit of water to make it easier. You don't want to skip this step, because, if you do, the Clippers will snag up the hair, making the process painful. Once you have your Clippers cleaned and oiled you're ready to get started, I'm using the andis envy adjustable Clippers. The first thing you want to do is take the lever on the side of your Clippers and push it all the way back, so that the teeth are at the lowest position. This way, you can get the closest possible cut for this first section. This haircut is all about creating layers for this first layer. You want to go all the way around the head in a u-shape, creating a line that slopes downward in the back. This line doesn't have to be perfectly straight, but it is the base for your haircut and all the other layers will follow this one. So try to keep it as neat as possible. Remember it's important to go over each section thoroughly to make sure that the hair is all cut to the same length, keep in mind that hair grows in different directions. So just because it looks like it's all, growing downward doesn't mean it actually is. You may have to go over some parts horizontally and vertically to make sure you get a uniform cut just take your time and keep going over the section until all the hair is cut to the same length. Now that we finished the first layer use the lever on your Clippers to adjust the teeth up or forward. This will make sure that the second layer is just a little longer than the first for the second layer. You want to cut about an inch and a half above the first layer, following the original line that you made and again you want to go all the way around the head in a u-shape sloping downward in the back. You can see that I'm flicking my wrists when I remove the Clippers from the head, while creating your layers. If you slide the Clippers exactly to where you want them to go and then flick them away, instead of just lifting them, it'll ensure that you don't cut off more than you mean to now attach your number-one guard, with the teeth. Still in the forward position, then go all the way around the head in a u-shape to create your third layer. The size of the third layer will depend on how much hair you want to leave on the crown, since I want his hair to be cut low everywhere, except the crown I'm going to extend the third layer all the way up to it. But if you want to leave more hair on the crown, you can make your layer smaller. At this point, you need to choose which guard you're going to use for the crown of the head, because I, like his hair, pretty short on top I'm using a number-two guard, with the teeth still in the forward position. If you're not sure how long you want the hair on top to be start with the bigger guard like a number three or number four and then work your way down until you get the length you want now it's time to blend your first and second layers, Because the teeth were pushed all the way back on the first layer and all the way forward on the second layer, you need to go right in between to blend them, so use the lever on the Clippers to adjust the teeth to the midway point between all The way forward and all the way back and use that setting to blend those two layers together. This is going to take a little time and effort, but just keep going over that line until you're able to blend it out. Now, I'm switching back to my number one guard, since I made the second layer with no guard and the teet in the forward position and the third layer with the number one guard in the teeth in the forward position, I'm going to blend those two layers together Using a number one guard and the teeth in the back position, because that's the midway point between those two settings, then I'm going to use those same settings to blend downward just to make sure that everything is meshing well together, don't be afraid to keep going over. Your lines to make sure they're blending you will be able to tell if they're not blended properly, I'm going to go over that front section one more time with the number two guard just to make sure there's no overhang using a fine-tooth comb. I'M going to speak all those hairs forward so that I can get started on the shape up. I start directly in the middle of the hairline and then move to the sides from there. If you're going to freehand this, it helps to step back every now and then just to get some perspective. If you want a foolproof way to do the shape up, just use a cosmetic pencil to draw the line first, and then you can just cut directly on that line so that you won't mess it up when you get to this part, use the edge of the Clipper to go around that curve, don't try to lay the whole clip or down otherwise you'll get a sharp straight line instead of a curved line now clean up the back the sides and around the ears and you're done
