Hi guys, how are you I'm Robin welcome back or welcome to my youtube channel this little world right here is man for himself if you like, hair product reviews here, how to's fragrance skincare, grooming and videos like this, then this channel is for you. Please do press subscribe right now, okay, we are well and truly into this. I'M sure if you've not already cut your hair or had someone else cut your hair, then you're, certainly considering it. I know that mine is out of control. I'Ve gone big, I've gone, swept back, I've tried everything and I'm gon na I'm gon na stick out for a little bit longer, but I've broken down some top tips here. Really, five steps for you guys to be able to cut your hair at home or preferably help someone else cut it. Now. It'S been it's been two years since I did my barber training and in theory I feel pretty comfortable in the actual practicals of it. I mean I don't know if I'd, let me cut your hair, but I am, I know some things that are going to help you. So the first thing really in this is the prep. This is so important. You need to have the right tools, I'm at the basics, I would say to get a clipper set. These don't have to be expensive. I find some really like decent ones for a good price, and I put them in the description, but these will come with the different clipper grades attachments from an 8 really - which I would say you probably won't be using. This is more about fades and about having super short cuts that are just gon na look really neat all the way down to 1/2. Also, you want to be preparing the hair when you are cutting the hair when you're cutting the top generally, you want that to be wet, or at least sort of spritz, with a bottle or just chuck some water on the top, but when you're using clippers, you Want the hair to be dry before you cut, you want to sort the hero into different sections. Now, when you look at the head and that the here you've got two points here, these are called the recession points you're going to do something called a horseshoe shape, which means you're going to get a comb and you're gon na run it from one temple point The recession point up and round, and it's gon na dip, just ever so slightly onto that jutted out bit of the head. That'S the occipital bone of syphilis if it'll bone right, so you've got that bit. You'Ve got the top of the hair and you're gon na. Just pin that back if it's long enough just to stick on the top of the head and then you've got the u-shape and the hair on the back and the sides. That is the prep done next you're gon na be getting into creating a guideline. Now, most of you guys or women who are looking to maybe cut your partners here, your mates here, your flatmate, whoever it might be. This is where you decide what grade you want. Let'S say you want a one fade: we're gon na pop the guard on now. You'Re gon na notice on your M Clippers that you have got a lever on the left when it's up it's closed when it's down it's open. That is going to add when it's open an extra half on that. So you want that closed. Now, you're going to decide what grade of fade you won, it might be a it might be a 1. It might be a bold fade, which essentially is guard off nothing there and it's closed and that's just gon na go straight into the head. But, let's just say it's gon na be a 1. So then, you're gon na decide if it's gon na be a high fade, which basically means that guideline is gon na be higher in the head. Give me a mid fade, which is about there or if it's gon na be a low fade, which is generally just on to that ear. Point you're gon na create a line of the guide from the ear all the way down. It'S going to dip slightly under that bone. Just ever some like the tiniest bit and it's gon na come back up in the rain, but you're gon na go up and you're gon na go again to the head, making sure not to push in you're, not jabbing. It you're going against the head nice and smooth note. The way that these are created is they've got a slight scoop on it. That doesn't mean that you're scooping up and through that's meaning that you're putting this square part here against the head, and it's gon na. Allow that space between the head and the Clipper to take off that one grade, that's it next. This is about fading, so you've still got that top of the hair left. You'Ve got the sides you're starting to boot, in what you're going to do is you're, going to go one up from what you had so we're gon na go up to a two we're gon na go up and over that line again, because this is scooped like This you're not going to take off too much, so you want to hit that guideline that you did and work up and off it, and this is gon na start to blend in you're. Gon na do all the way around because it's shorter, lower down you're not going to take anything more off, you're gon na then work down a half and you're gon na start open. So that's push the lever down and again you're gon na hit that same line, because it's scooped you're not gon na, take too much off then the guide it's now shut and you're gon na do the same and you're gon na work. Your way down until you again hit that guide agreed working down in those half measures until again you hit. That guide is where you stop, and this is how you get that feed it's working in those half increments of a grade which allows it to be faded and blended. Now in this part, this is where you're going to start to sort of taper and soar. Take that neckline now, if you've gone for bold or you've used foils, then there's nothing to taper, because you've gone right down to the skin. But if you've gone for cr1 feet, then still you're gon na have some hair left at the bottom of the neck. So what you're gon na want to do is just leave about two inches from the bottom of the neck and you're gon na go in half measures from that one down. So basically you've got the desired length here. That'S your one. You'Ve got the feed going into a two just slightly above it. You'Ve got the bottom of the neck here and you're gon na go 1/2 1/4 and bald to there, and that's literally gon na be on the skin, so you're not taking much hair off at all. But really you're just creating this perfect gradient of nothing of the bald skin up into the desired, which is really the healthiest biggest part there and then going over just ever so slightly to work up to the longer hair. Also, if you do have a little set of Detailers, which are these smaller ones, this is where you can use just a tiny bit and get around the ear, be careful, just sort of pulled at your back ever so slightly and work round. This really is just going to make that cut to look even neater, but if we're just going for the basics, you can stop there now getting into the top of the hair. I think this is like actually the hardest bit. When I was learning I found it. I actually put it really hard I've been it hard to use scissors. I found it hard to get it as it should be, so you might actually just get Clippers and do that buzz all over. But if you are doing the scissors again, just working in a regimented way will help so get those clips out there here, you're now gon na put a guideline in so again, look at the top of the head and you're gon na create a guideline straight down. The center, like a strip, then with this strip here, you're gon na pick up the front of the hair and you're gon na decide the length. So the guide length of that here, picking straighter perpendicular so 90 degree to the head and taking off as much or as little here as you want, then this is a case, and this is why this kind of needs someone else to do it. It is so hard to put your on here. If you are going to cut your own here, I might even leave the top and then just kind of blend it in or just mess up. A little bit depends how long it is, but with a guide, you're gon na take back slightly with a hair between the fingers with a bit at the back. So a bit that's not yet being cut again pulling straight up and you're gon na just snip off you're gon na see bits that are longer bits or shorter just hit over the top of that bit. That'S longer repeat: drop a bit from the front pick a bit up from the back pull back a straight up: snip snip snip. Checking on that guide. Fingers should be 90 degrees to the top of the head - repeat - repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat all the way to the back then you're gon na take a bit from the left, so you can either go square to the head, which means you're going to keep a bit Of that guide, which was the center and a bit from the left, that was never in that you're gon na cut straight across or way you're gon na curl, just ever so slightly and go with the curvature of the head and you're gon na cut again picking Up a bit from the back dropping a bit from the front and back and back and back like this sort of stuff, makes me nervous where, when I was cutting, so keep this as simple as possible. If you are going to cut keep it simple, then go back to your barber. These guys and women are like they're professionals and they know what they're doing. So. It'S the back and sides of the main thing, but you're going to sweep back cut a bit more cut a bit more you're gon na. Do that whole left side, then I'm gon na go over to the right, taking a bit from the center again with a bit from the right and you're gon na work. All the way back, the top is hard. I'M not gon na lie. I always struggled with that. Do sort of be careful with it and also if you are looking for sort of hairstyle tips and tricks, and you want certain styles, then the new hairstyle directory or man from SOUTHCOM has got loads of them and also some barbers have sent in there's a how-to Guides so you can follow from the start to the end to really nail these cuts. The top thing cut the backs being cut. This is where you would either leave it disconnected, which will be the easiest thing, and if you are just having this sort of maintenance cut, then do that or you would connect it and that's really making sure that this at the sides blends into the top. This is where it could all go wrong, so I would say, as far as possible, maybe leave doing that and but if you are going to do it, it's all about removing that weight line and just finessing as you go. The final step in all of this is to finesse, and this is the touch and feel go around the head. Look into the mirror be slow with it dry it out see. Are there any patches which look real? I mean there should be no patches, but if there are any patches - and they look really heavy - then think about going up her grade and working over that just to buff. It out always go err on the side of caution and go higher and then work down. If you're going down, you can't have that hair back on start high and work town and around the ears just get the scissors, and you can be very careful and going round that ear down onto the side just cutting into it slightly and but yet trust your Eye or don't trust your right, you know trust your eye and see how it looks and see how it feels and if you are cutting someone else's here, move them into the mirror, move the mirror around and take your time, and I still think ride this out. If you can ride it out, go back to your barber. You'Re gon na have a beautiful canvas of here loads of hair for them to work with, and this is where you can really choose a style that you want for the rest of the year. That'S what I'm doing and for now this is hell actually having all of this. I just want it neat, but I am gon na keep on going with it or give us a go, and let me know how you get on or let you know how you got on cutting someone else's here. I want to see pictures you can send from them to me your man for himself. I won't laugh because I wouldn't be able to do it myself, so when so, do send them.
