What'S up guys welcome to today's video today, i've got something special for you, guys we're gon na dissect how to cut layers in fine hair. I'M gon na make it as simple as possible for you guys so that any time you go to to layer, fine, hair, you're, gon na think about this technique, and it's gon na help you to keep that density. Keep a nice blunt edge and have a ton of movement in fine hair. So sectioning is simple: uh deep right hand, side parting, so you can see that on her right hand, side and then on the other side, i go a little bit deeper, even because that's going to be the heavy side. That'S the side. That'S going to kind of fall over cascade over um, because she's going to part her hair in that direction. So then the second section i'm going to take here is separating the front and the back i'm going to do this on both sides. So what i do is i want to match up the density so uh the amount of hair that we have in the back. I want to section that away and then the same amount of hair that we have in the front. I want to section that away as well, so you can see how that hairline kind of moves forward so follow that parting right down to the hairline you'll, see that i have a tiny little piece. So i take that. I move that to the front and that's going to separate the front and back, and i just clip that away now to keep this nice and simple we're going to go vertical straight down center back and then i'm going to work a balanced line in the very Back of the head to start this haircut, so keeping everything nice and clean staying organized with the cut that's going to keep this uh consistent throughout the entire time. So a nice horizontal section right behind the ear. I do that on both sides and i can start cutting my line in the back now. I talk about this a lot, and what i want to get into here is that i i don't always cut my baseline first, but when i'm working with fine hair, this is tip number one. I really like to cut my baseline first, especially if i'm trying to create a nice uh illusion of having a thick blunt line at the bottom. So i base the haircut off of the baseline. I cut that baseline all the way through, so we're basically going to cut a one length haircut on this underneath part of the hair, and what i mean by balance is if my shoulders, if i'm facing straight on to the back of her head, i'm cutting parallel To my shoulders and her shoulders, so what i'm doing is creating a nice horizontal straight line in the back uh. That'S going to have a little extra weight or length push to behind the ear, but not much, and i just want to keep that line. Nice and blunt so i'll take about one inch sections throughout it. Now, if you have a client with fine hair, sometimes you can take a little bit thicker sections and i want to uh kind of baste that hair this haircut on that as well and there's some things that we're going to do in the front when we start To layer, that's going to be more condensed cuttings, so really cutting a lot of hair at once, because when you have fine hair, there's no reason to take multiple sections throughout it. If you don't need to as long as you see your guideline through the hair you're good to go, so i'm going to continue my way up. The head shape i'm going to do the same thing on both sides and then we're going to move on to the sides of the head all right. So now we've finished up the back. Now we're going to move on to the side. So i take a small guide from the side and i bring that over and i cut a nice balance line on the side of the head. So again, looking at the section, i cut the section parallel to my shoulders. I stand right in front of the section as i'm looking at it and that's the line that i want to create. So a nice balanced line we're going to work our way, all the way up the head and then we're going to move on to the opposite side, and so now, as i finish off this second side, what we're going to do is we're going to move into Elevating so elevating the hair creates layering right, so we haven't layered the hair at all, just been cutting a really nice one length, blunt uh, balanced haircut now. What i want to do is i want to start to elevate slightly. So this is the part side. So this is the side that she's parting on what i do is i elevate it up and over completely condensed section, and i just point cut into it - to start to create a little bit of movement. But i don't want a ton of layering on this side of the head, because this is going to be the weakest side. This is all the hair that will ever be sitting over here. The rest of the hair is going to be sitting on the opposite side of the head. We need that hair to create the illusion of having super thick hair, so just softly layer. It like i did and now we're going to move into cutting the heavier side and creating all the layers that are going to live in this cut. So what i do is i want this to live right around her chin length. So look at my finger angle. It mimics the jawline on the opposite side that creates an angled fringe for me, that's also my guideline. Now i'm going to lift that entire section up from the top and i'm going to point cut into it and cut it the length that i just cut. My guideline so super fun because it's a condensed haircut, you can do this because it's fine hair, i mean you could do it on thick hair too, but it's just not as practical, but working with fine hair. You can condense a section down, pull it all over to the one side and cut it but notice where i pull it to, because if you don't you're not going to get those lengths that you want on the opposite side. So look at the explosion of layers that happen just from pulling the hair up over to that side. Point cutting into it! So now i'm just going to kick it up with some moroccan oil mousse, i'm going to put that in the hair for a little bit of hold and shine, and then i'm also gon na do a root boost. I'M gon na spray that at the root as well, because you want a nice lift to give it that volume uh as you start to blow dry. So i work that product in then the blow drying process happens, pretty quick so and i'm not going to show all of that to you guys. But what i do is i power dry. First then, i go in with a paddle brush and i smooth the hair out, because i want a nice shine and polish to it and then i finish it off with the wand iron and i just wrap each individual hair around. So i spray moroccan oil protect on there uh first, obviously to protect it from the thermal heat and then i go in with a wand iron and i just individually wrap small sections, get it super curly, and then i break up those curls with my fingers. As i work through it spray in some dry texture spray, some hairspray and just finish it off that way. So you can see the volume that pops on the top. I got my inspiration from a photo. I saw online where somebody was super fine hair. I could tell, but they wore it all over to the one side and it just looked really really cool. It looked super full, even though they had that fine fabric. So all you fine hair lovers out there. I hope you guys enjoyed this video. David Wilson: Thank you so much for this, we have been in lockdown for months and hairdressers are closed here, my wife was so desperate she made me cut her hair, and she is really pleased with the result. Considering she has come home in tears from pro hairdressers in the past, I am beyond grateful for these clear and straightforward instructions.

Angela Hagood: Love the technique. However, it would be more beneficial to see this done on a real model. My daughter has very fine hair and wants this type of cut, but this mannequin has way more hair than her. So, of course the cut will look fabulous. Hope you can line up a live model with actual fine hair and show us how it works for real life. Love the information you provide!

Kim McGuinness: Just did this, as an amateur, on my daughter and O…M…G! It’s a beautiful cut, her hair has never looked better! Thank you for this tutorial

kate XWV: Just tried this on my daughter whose hair is even finer than your models....it turned out amazing! Thank you.

Gogo A: Love this cut and you're absolutely right about it being a fun one to do as well. Along with the point cutting which is so important for the finished texture on fine hair especially. Unless it's a cut with a heavy weight line and precision angles fine hair looks terrible done with a blunt pair of scissors imo. Great video. A+

festivelady826: I'm 66 years old and have literally worn my hair every way under the sun. This is, hands down, the BEST video I've ever seen on how to do a layered cut on fine hair. TRULY THE BEST VIDEO!!

Jamie Olson: Watched this. Cut my hair step by step, being very conservative in the amount I cut. Turned out great, now I may go back and cut more on that top section. Thank you, this was the simplest tutorial I've seen and gives a great cut!!!

Caprena Confer: I'm a hair dresser myself and you truly inspire me and still over 8 years still learn new techniques from your videos actually did a shaggy haircut today in long hair from 1 of your videos.

Cheryl: I can't believe how real the hair is on the model. They've come along ways since my time. Love the look! great job!

Vickie Bruton: This is a perfect cut for fine hair and is the cut I would love to have from my stylist. Great job!!

Shannon Herrick: I was able to follow this and cut my own fine, thin hair. Thank you so much for posting this!

Shelby J: Thanks Matt. This cut looks amazing! I like how it looks curled too. :) I have fine long hair. I also have been favoring the shag and v shape ends lately. Do you think those would work for me?

Bobbi Wolfgang: This is EXACTLY MY HAIR! Even the side I part on. I will take this with me for my next cut! Thanks.

Chelle Bright: Fine hair is pretty with the right cut. It’s just hard to find people who know how to cut it. It took me ages, and finally found the right person. If you find someone too, tip them well. They have a skill not every stylist has.

MJ Lamborn: Love this look for fine hair. You got so much volume with the product and styling.

Lin Bat: This is great...Going to try it for my fine hair. I was looking for some kind of tutorial since I've cut my own hair all my life, but now that I'm older, I need a refresher for the right way to do it! lol Thanks - very helpful!

kathleen mccollum: Perfect TRIM Great to watch a hairdresser trimming hair, without walloping it all off.

Suvarna Patil: Great work as always I loved watching the cut , Useful technique for getting dense volume

Lili: Very helpful! I will actually go to a salon (sometime) and if the stylist won't watch/copy this, I'll find someone else who will. I have baby-fine hair, and always struggle with getting it to look decent. Mahalo!

pimpmyride: Gorgeous and quick. Perfect for great clips.

Aprill Roberts: Enjoyed this tutorial. I’m trying it out for a client tomorrow

Brandi Bannatyne: Love this cut but would love to see a variation on a client who changes their part regularly.

Stanislava Dimova: Very easy and very helpful. Thank you to share this with us !!!

Jennifer Anderson: Okay so I just did this cut on my hair. Only difference is I kept the back longer. I parted it down the middle in the back and brought the hair up and toward the front and did point cutting. It layered the back. Looks nice and fluffy after scrunching. The only other saving grace I can impart is never use conditioner on your hair if it's fine. A good moisturizing shampoo with no dyes, sulfates or parabens is the best. If need be a light leave in detangler Scrunch, scrunch, scrunch!! Oh! And a diffuser dryer on cool!! :)

One4ChristJesus: This is so awesome! This is something I can definitely do myself. Ty for sharing.

Karen: I'd loooove to have this style for my super fine hair!!! My hair has always been a pain!!

Jayne Weaver: OMG! THAT is talent, you make it look so easy, LOT of skill, thank you!

Marike van der Walt: Great video! Can you do one for people who wear a centre parting as well? Thank you! X

Beth A. Gardner: I have the identical hair texture and color. Love this video from start to finish. Thanks

Vic Ellie: For the regular cosmetologist this video was right on. For the unprofessional that is going to try this fine hair shrinks when it dries. And it can shrink even more if you pull it down hard when you cut it.

Jackie Brown: Love this style and texture. Thank you!

Eve: I do this haircut on my mums fine hair, it turns out amazing

Gi Gi: I wish you would have shown more of the cut while the hair was straight so we could see the detail. Women don't always curl their hair everyday if at all, so it's important to see what the cut looks like straight.

Kim K: Gorgeous! That’s the haircut I want!

Connie Cload: Wow we need more hairstylists like you the majority of hairdressers have no clue

L Fuentes: Please show more cuts for fine hair with bangs that will work with a wash and go lifestyle. Thank you.

Alexandria Morrall: Love this you make it look so easy

adopta un corazón: I love this haircut, looks so nice and modern

Carolyn Feldman: I think it's great that a stylist is showing how hair is layered! However, I watch the details of perfect trims and layering from years of modeling. Would I let him cut my hair...no. The ends are too sloppy. I don't like ends that look like they need to be trimmed.

Natalia Cantero: This looks fabulous! Great idea fir Christmas and New Year Eve look! Yum :-)

Tee Lee: That's awesome, I have fine hair and I do my own hair. Gonna try this style now

Stacie Heroux: Wish you would’ve showed the technique I’m curling my hair. It turned out beautiful!

Joanne Marie: Beautiful! I was totally fascinated with this video, and I'm not even a hair stylist.

tonisback: Great tutorial. Fabulous technique.

Marina Martinez: Excellent, my hair always needs layers because it's fine also.

Leslie Douglass: Sorry I'm late to the party.... LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this cut. Thank you for making it so simple and easy to follow. I have watched this 8 times. BUT... what about the back? There is no layering in the back. I know you wanted to keep this full and with a good weight line, but no layers in the back?

Glenys Ward: Beautifully done!!!

AM K: It would be a miracle to get my fine hair to look like this

Melba Dcunha: All are beautiful talented hairstylists showing, wonderful, amazing haircuts which transform the models into even prettier beauties I just love watching their work. .Thanks a million.

Baby girl Magic: Sir I love you techniques but I’m left handed, would there be different hand positions for me because I’m left handed? In watching your videos I’ve learned more from you than I have in the last 20 years of being a hair stylist and with that I want to thank you!

Lyn Cressler: It's beautiful .. always ! Thank you Matt

DJKOSTAS1000: Thank you for spending time to do this For people that really want to learn ❤️ God bless my friend

Luann Nielson: Hi Matt, thank you for tutorial! You are the Best!!

Seventies Girl: Great video. I have fine hair but a lot of it. I just had a haircut and this is exactly what I wanted but didn't get. I wish you had been there cutting my hair!

Devon Seamoor: Nothing wrong with the cutting instructions, that's valuable knowledge. It's the second day that I start fo watch these kind of videos, to find ideas, insights, and possibly confidence too. Either by going to the hairdresser, or cutting it myself. I've done my hair, for many years, cutting it very short, about 4 cm. length, equal all over my head. Very easy. Now, I've let me hair grow to the length of my shoulder blades. It's beautiflly grey with white parts from the temple to the crown. I'm now wearing my hair tight, with a twisted tail bent upwards, fastened with a hairdresser's clip where the top and back of my head meet. I'm thinking about cutting my hair in layers, leaving it at a length of where my mouth is, slighly longer maybe. But the pomp and circumstance of using a hot hairstyler, and wax, or hairspray, or any other substance, no way, not for me. My skin starts itching, I can feel that stuff in my hair, making it sort of.... breathless, clogged, in short.... uncomfortable. I'm thinking about creating grey extensions with wool of a grey sheep, matching with my hair, weaving them through it. Just as an experiment, leaving the present length. I do love dreadlocks, but my hair is fine, the only way to create that sort of look, is by means of extensions, and sculpt a lovely hairstyle with it. I'm not sure how it comes out after washing it, haha. Surprise?

Hilda Treviño: Beautiful!!!❤ Thank you!!!

Linda Anderson: I have very fine 73 year old hair. Kept it cut short until Covid. Now it is at my shoulders and some below. It has a curve, not exactly a wave, to it. Have subscribed. Thank you!

carol ratcliff: A great demo and cut. I do have a hard time seeing the products used. Can you list them for us?

Flossy Jones: This is what you call a hair stylist patient taking the hair and section it explaining the haircut not just pulling down and cutting. This guy is totally professional. Wish I could get him to cut my hair. Most hairdressers are sloppy and lazy if you know anything about hair styling. You would be shocked how lazy they are when you are sitting in their chair I have been a hairdresser many years and cannot get my haircut watch other hairdressers while I am sitting there or in someone's chair and just totally see . Hairstyles not taking the time or the patience to cut the hair correctly or to style it. It totally disgusts me cuz I've been too high in shops and all around and cannot find a hairdresser that really actually care and take pride into what they are doing. Every hairstyle is should treat the client if they were cutting their own hair.. this hairstylist could have taken shortcuts and cutting and styling this mannequin. With a few wax it would have been done and that's exactly what a lot of hairdressers do they don't take the time or the patience. And the majority of people don't know that they are really getting a wham bam thank you ma'am haircut. Don't forget to give that big huge tip that they're all expecting.

Cecilia Clark: Oh why can't I find a beautician this good, knowing about a blunt cut & point cut, or even knowing about fine hair. Everyone I've had just guess & hopes for the best.

littlean24: Wow. That is a great cut and style!!

kakhead23: This is fantastic, thank you!

FluteHooper: I would love more fine hair vids!

HAPPY GIRL: Hello. from Mauritius. lovely haircut. my hair is much much longer. the first time I had such a haircut was when I had lots of hair loss due to stress after a big problem at my workplace. you wield yr hair scissors magically to do a great haircut and it turns any person with fine hair into a super pretty person full of confidence. can u please do a video on waist long fine hair with curtain bangs, bring in volume and also side bangs to remove the split ends as well. I wish you can show an educative video like that so that I can get an idea what to tell my hair stylist as I love my long hair but I want curtain and side bangs with lots of volume and also show how to style my hair anytime. lots of love from Mauritius. kindly reply back.

Char Williams: I just need to be able to take my head off, Soo I can do this too myself.

TEREZ VITEZ: Thanks for the education. I live in Serbia ( Europe ) & I have many problems with learning English from the films, but your speech is excellent,so I can learn by hearing using the correct pronunciation & intonation. THANKS ! Greetings !

Micro Sp20 Lect: Absolutely breath taking!! Some human beings are simply super talented.

Harley B.: What do you suggest for people like myself: of course very fine hair, natural waves, and layers that never really grow out from the top down. Not yet met a hairdresser that can do anything other then perform trimming on all the bits of hair to sort of “clean up” ...same style for so many years ... this head of hair has not grown to shoulder length since before my son was born 23 yrs ago. So odd. I hair dry for a bit, but let it mostly air dry to avoid any further breakage. The forehead hair breaks wicked, and serious uneven bangs ... sigh. I avoid using a hot curling tool. I do use good hair products. I certainly don’t mind the fine hair, but a total mystery as to why it never does grow much with only trimming every 4 mos ...hmm. Great video btw. At least for people who can grow out their hair. Idk, it’s #hairenvy with me PS ...have tried Biotin and other supplements over the years & not noticeable results to speak of. Age 56, have calmed right back in colour treating with foils (no bleach used anyways). Any hope? ✌

Shelly: Very nice styling like that style Cool online training sweet ! Thank you

Ann7.C: Super cool and fast technique Thanks.

Sheilah Gilleland: Can’t wait to try this one Matt!!!

paula smith: Love it! Thank you

Desy Marianne: I want to try this cut to curly hair . I think will be look fantastic . Thank you bro for this tutorial video.

Mila Fonacier: Thanks a million for sharing your experiences ,knowledge n good wonderful amazing tricks of the trade.. lots to learn in hairdressing for sure . ..hope u do more of it .. Let's keep learning more n more about it everything . I like your trcks so useful to me ..godbless you

SimplySpotON: Lov it.. do u have a list of the products u used? Would sure like to know where to get them.. and if I was in your area.. I would definitely have u do my hair.. thanks so much..

Saffron-Scotch & Universal Oneness: As someone who’s had fine hair like this my whole life, root products are a major fail.

Kim Zeck: Gorgeous! Thanks very much for sharing

Kleio Petrou: Perfect...i will try it to my next client...thank you....

Jaquosh: Nice technique, but what about the other side on the left, under the crown? Did you also layer it by pulling the hair forward or not?

Stylist Resing: Really love it all your work are just perfect can you teach more about pixie cut

Diana Mance: I love it I'm going this Friday to the hair salon I'm going have my hair styled and cut just like that ty

Tina Albritton: Love it! I need him to cut my Fine Hair!!

Lorian D: It looked better wet after the cut, than the actual finished style.

Best Friend In Your Thread: This is great, thank you!

Starr Rivers: Tried this. My fine hair gets curly when it is layered and the layered pieces stick out after a couple of hours. Back to straight non layered hair.

parvin zarrin: That was the best and easy hair cut ever I learned

J Flo: That is a nice cut. I’d like to see how it would look air dried.

Liz Oxley: Seems I'm late to the game. But love love that cut. I by no means am a stylist however I do have fine hair. I have fairly long hair, like even with the bottom part of my bra. So the question is can that cut be done while maintaining length.?? Again, I loved it. Im 63 years young and feel I better get some kind on shape in the front before I look like my chin/face dragging the floor.

Pamela Dandley: I love this except if you dont have time for the full style using curling iron , you need the hair to lay better and not just straight down. I have fine hair that is medium length, I think we need more angle, like more of a long shag look. Just my opinion.

J W: Wow, cool haircut! So pretty!

Naomi Ackerman: I like the techniques and style. I'm wondering if there is a way to do this only using very few (and natural) products on hair that can look greasy when using oil.

Anonymous Mom: When you cut inside the fingers like this, you must stop at the second knuckle on your fingers so as not to cut yourself.

In Your Face!!: I have fine hair but it’s all one length and it’s very long. Almost touching my hips in the back. I really enjoyed this haircut. I wish I could take my head off and give it to myself LOL

Mika: That’s a cute style... love the texture! What if your hair is fine but curly and thickest in the middle. Would this make the middle appear even thicker? My thinnest hair is all the surrounding edge so I’m curious

Lilia Lisa: what a pleasure it is to watch a professional work

Leah Brum: Wow looks fantastic. My hair is even finer and less than the mannequin head.

Mia Austin: It ‘s so beautiful haircuts Thanks for Sharing!

Bethany Moales: everyone: ok just gunna brush my hair out real quick w/ a fine tooth comb before I start this DIY!! people w/ fine hair: after 15 minutes of combing...*whew* ok now I can start

Connie McMurry: I think he's using too much heat for styling fine hair. I used rollers of all sizes and also used a steam machine with rolls on dry hair. My hair is fine and thin so I really have to protect it from heat and too much combing and pulling etc.

Stella Landaburu: Felicitaciones desde Argentina hermoso el corte!!!!!!
