Thanks for being Part Of The FSE FAMILY!

Alright guys so we're gon na start off today's technique. We'Re gon na be cutting a curly. Layered haircut can't wait to walk you guys through this, so the sectioning is very simple: it's straight down the center, so we're doing a center parting and then I'm working the round of the head with my next section. So I take a diagonal back parting and then I pull everything over right above the nose angling. My fingers just slightly creating almost like a triangle to the parting right, so the partings angled diagonal back and then my finger angle is angled diagonal forward and that's gon na create a nice extreme kind of push of the weight, and you can see it right there. How it gets short too long and then I'm gon na switch up my technique so notice that my comb is also a razor, so I'm using the Donald Scott carving comb which is available on free salon education.com. So I use that tool as my comb. I also have a scissor, so what I'm doing is creating a nice blunt cut for the fringe and then a soft cut for the face frame so notice how I split it right at the parietal Ridge area right where that head starts to curve down. I bring everything over to me, cut it blunt with the scissor, get myself a nice hard line and then, as I work down the face frame, I switch up my technique using the razor to create almost a scooping motion with that razor to create a nice soft Face frame around the face now this is going to be a curly hair finish, I'm gon na diffuse the hair we're gon na make it super curly, so you guys will be able to see how this haircut looks on curly hair. Now a couple things I'm doing. I'M using a very wide toothed comb, so if I was working with curly hair, which I am here, if I'm working with curly hair, I'm gon na use wide a wide toothed comb, because that's gon na give me less tension. I don't want to pull the hair too far from where it's gon na want to live, naturally right, so I'll work through now a switch up of this technique. Once I get a few inches back on the head shape, I go all razor. I go all in with the razor using the razor to create a really nice soft edge to the layering technique. So what we're doing is we're creating layers around the face, but then also those layers are coming from the back of the head as well. So we're gon na push some weight from the front, push it off to the so our heaviest point at this point of the haircut is gon na, be in the back of the head. So bringing everything over to me cutting it with a razor nice soft edge to the finish, and that is the first side, so you can see all the layers that pop how how exciting this haircut gets now to do the other side. What I'm gon na do is take out just a little bit from the very front and then I'm going to bring over the other side and use that as my guideline one thing I didn't share with you guys at the very beginning in this video that I Wish I would have mixed in at the beginning was that I prepared the hair with Donald Scott prepare, which is a razor cutting lotion. So it helps with the slip and the glide of the razor over the hair so make sure that any time you're doing a razor cut. You have a fresh blade, obviously and Donald Scott prepare, really helps to keep the hair nice and conditioned and healthy as I'm working through it so again, going through with the blunt cut of the scissor in the fringe area and then using that razor tool to cut The rest of the section so using the piece that I just cut as the guide and then I slide that razor down creating that scooped effect and getting a really nice feel to the face frame. So we'll continue doing the same thing for a couple sections cutting with the blunt scissor on the top of the head and then, as I move down to the side, switching to that razor. This is why the carving comb was invented. So you could have three tools in your hand at once: a comb, a razor and a scissor, and I can work and mix and match those techniques. So a scissor blunt cut here and then I'm gon na go down and I'm gon na slide and glide that razor through the face frame. So now I've moved a few inches up the head. So now I'm gon na go all razor and that's how I like to work it now, if you guys don't have a carving comb and you don't want need to purchase anything right now, you can use a regular razor for this technique as well. Just switch just grab your razor tool and use it and then grab your scissor tool. It'S not that big of a deal it's just kind of convenient to be able to hold them all. At the same time, also, this razor is available, like I said, on friis on education, comm and it's 39 bucks. So it's nothing like crazy. It'S not a super expensive tool. It comes in a wide toothed comb and a fine toothed comb, so you can get both. So you can see how those layers move and they work their way back on the head shape. Now we're gon na work into the back of the head. I'M gon na use the 50 % cutting side of this razor. So one side has a hundred percent cutting the other side has 50 % cutting. So I just slide that 50 % cutting from the occipital bone down, which creates a little extra pop of layering in the back of the head to really bring the shape to this haircut in the back. So now you can see all those layers. I'M gon na use joy coat joy, whip a hold number 7. It'S a firm hold foam. You don't need a lot of it, put it throughout the hair, and then I go in with my second product, which is the defy damaged protective shield from joy Co, which is a bond protector, and it's also a heat protectant. So everything we're doing is to protect the hair, to build it up and then bam. Look at that tons of curl to the hair, just using a diffuser working, our diffuser into the hair on low airflow, high heat and just blow-drying that hair nice and curly, and then the last thing I do. I just finished it with a little bit of hairspray and then I'm gon na go in and do a tiny bit of dry cutting. Just to finalize my shape. I like how everything's kind of built up in there, but I just go around the perimeter - do a little bit of tease cutting, which is a half open, half close of the scissor, and I work that around and I also go through right in the face frame Area and I build um, I just take out a little bit of weight throughout that as well, so just taking some pieces random pieces going in and cutting to finalize that shape. So here is our final look. I hope you guys liked this video. Let me know in the comments below, if you have any questions about it, I'd love to answer those, but I hope you enjoyed it hope you learned a lot thanks for watching

KRISSYXGLAM: I love how you demonstrated this tutorial!! You achieved amazing results & I’m definitely gonna try this myself. Thank you

Eli P: Beautiful!!! Great haircut!!! Love it !!! I’ll practice this haircut!!! Thank you !!

Katalina K: Absolutely gorgeous result! Now I wish I had curly hair naturally

Cvetanka Manevska: It looks simple, but it takes a great skill and experience especially for a simple look haircut. Brilliant hairstyle! Great mastery!!!

Glo Glo Rubihess: I love the way you explain your cutting technique. Your patient and clear. Two thumbs up!!

rosa roja: Just beautiful! I love this hair cut.

Paulette Noel: OMG! I have been wanting this hair cut for like over 10 years now. No hairdresser has neven been able to do it. I am sooo keeping this video for my next haircut. THANK YOU so much

Lenka 1234: Just cut my hair with this tutorial. Love it! Thank you

lubna fazal: Yes i learned alot from the way you make it soo easy for us. Thanks for teaching us

Angela Shoson: Simple but interesting. I cut my own hair but it's gotten more curly after i had children. This hair cut looks like something i could still do to myself.

CYNTHIA HICKS PADILLA: Omg super cute! I'm going to try it. I have a plain old razor and scissors. That is the best haircut I've seen for curls!

Leticia Guzman: Omg that’s so cute! Much like the hair cut I used to have!

Alice Walker: This looks pretty cool on the model but I have fine 2b hair and this cut would DEFINITELY make my hair a frizzy tangled mess that is really difficult to grow out because of all the razoring and layering... I know because I've had to grow a cut like this out more than once. Not saying it's a bad haircut but you need to be very confident the shaggy look is what you're going for.

Ant Car: My experience as a curl specialist is that 99.99 % of girls with curly hair find razored cuts or even just texturizing the ends a travesty and can't wait to get their hair blunt cut as soon as it grows out. Waste of time.

T K: It pains me to see you use the razor. Having fine curly hair and have been razor cut before, I can tell you it's a nightmare after a few weeks, it will split and frizz like crazy.

Sandra Solaligue-Pérez: Ho my goodness! That's magic! I love the curly style! ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️

Handy Lady: Nice result. I cut a similar cut with my own hair and my daughter's hair too.

Karla Jiménz: thanks for the videos, there really are few options I can find for curly hair, and you've given me a lot, that's great

Hafsss -: i appreciate the curly hair vids sm, inspo for my next cut!!

Ju Lie: A razor on curly hair? No sir! ▶Absolutely a NO GO on curly hair!!!◀ The curls will split and frizz and your client will look like a poodle for a loooooong time

Shelley Austin Lustenhouwer: Such a tutorial! I'm gonna try it!!

Bella 51387: It's so pretty when your hair grows out in layers and you have a natural shag.

Tamara Doric: Hello ! I really love ve the way you've explained how to cut this style. I would love to do it to myself. Have you any suggestions how can I easy cut the back of my hair myself!

Joyce Rodgers: That cut is beautiful!!! Thanks for the education! You Rock Matt!!!!

euphoricrecall: This is so great, thank you!

Doris M.: Amazing cut I have 3B/3C curls. Wish to have that haircut.

DaughterofYeshuaMessiah: Amazing!!! I would to have you cut my hair like that!!! Love it

Noir Hair SA: Learned so much I have watched it like 10 times. Loved the cut. Just a quick question if my guest wants more of a side bang what do I do

MSEAD123: excellent cut!! I love your technique and wish you could cut my hair!

Rosa Ramirez: Beautiful

Heather Brown: I cringe as I watch you use a razor on curly hair . As a curly girl with fine hair that simply destroys my hair. I have also been told over and over never let anyone touch my hair with a razor .

TheCovergirl01: I love this cut so much makes me want curly hair

Anita Kusler: I LOVE this cut!

The Orange Huntress: LOVE IT!!!

pinky Love: I love it!!

Alena Polster: I have curly hair and a razor makes me look like a q-tip. I agree with all these other comments about curly hair and razor cuts. Maybe someone with loose curls, but not us curly girls.

Naomi Rodriguez: In school we were told we couldn't use a razor on curly hair because it'll weaken the cuticle, what makes the Donald Scott razor different so you're able to use it on curly hair? Also I enjoy your videos.

karen luke: I love this !!! How does it look if you want your hair straight? X

I. Selasky: PLEASE CUT MY HAIR LIKE THAT!!! Loved your talent and cuts ✂️ ❤! Thank you!!!

Erika Moreira: hermoso!

Just Me: I read or heard somewhere that a hairdresser using a razor on curly hair should be avoided. But this looks incredible

Isobel Humphreys: is there a way to achieve this cut with just scissors? :)

Jessie Dawn Dupont: I have thick curly hair and razor cuts always turn out amazing on me, so I don't know why all these people are saying that razors should not be used on curly hair. Perhaps the stylists they use don't know the proper way to use a razor on curly hair.

David Berry: How did you create the curls? What technique did you use?

Simply Steady Hands: I love your work!

Eva Eilea: It’d be nice to see a different type of haircut on curly hair (although that is more wavy) I’m no a fan of those super heavy bangs

Resource Pantry WCUPA: lol imagine he went to comb the hair and accidentally used the razor

Gailde Smith: This is beautiful

Vannee: I was always told to never use a razor on curly hair, Will the result be the same if I use shears the entire cut?

Hack Battle: Why must we always angle? Can't we later while having the length straight across? Is it impossible?

Rosanna Rivas: Thank you a lot fir sharing! It’s that the same technique use for the trendy curly hair ?

Angela Rivera: Razor is awful on my curly hair, always creates FRIZZY ends. I'd love this is it was all ✂️

Gaby D T: WOW! Niceeeee wished i could find a hair stylist that can really could cut curly hair

Somer Styles: Awesome Matt. Really cute haircut

Kitty Kleopatra: Wish someone would cut my hair like this in the Pittsburgh area. ✨✨✨✨

J9601enny: Can you do a layered bob for curly hair please?

Art Mutanjan: Can I use this technique on straight hair?

Christine A Lucas: This IS my hair and I got this haircut (similar) ~10 years back and I can't get anyone to cut it like this again. Anyone know of someone in the SF bay area that can do this?

Soy la Lamia: Excellent!!!

Jesika Thomas: Could you do this same cut with just the razor to get less of a blunt fringe?

Alexis Williams: This is basically a uniform 90/rezocut almost . I like this technique .

Miss Marshall: That hair shredding comb can do some serious damage.

Ruth Vidal: So beautiful

Roya Moshiri: Wow so nice ❤️thank you so much

Art Mutanjan: Love it

stephyclaws: Would this work on finer hair?

Norma Coufal: Beautiful cut

Shirini: How would this haircut be without a razor and only hair cutting scissors? would it work?

Rita Brandow: Hi I really like this hair cut. My hair isn't quite that long. So can I still have it cut that way

Ten Lamps: Can you buy new blades for that comb?

deepak balsotra: thx u so so much to sharing your education Sir thanks u so so much I follow u on last 5 year

Juanita Schaefer: If I go to a salon, what do I ask for? I want this look.

Shirini: I've seriously watched this vid too many times to count.. need to do it on myself! Wish I had someone who could do it for me, but it looks like it shouldnt be.. too hard to do on your own head?

Selina Oakley: Fabulous❤️ I love your videos.

ALEXANDER MORA: Beautiful master...

Chocolate Fudge: Why is my hairdresser absolutely unable to do this to me? Sometimes i think maybe she's just jealous, that's why she fails every time.

Anastasia Beaverhausen: I have heard a thousands times that a razor is not good for curly hair, but my belief is that a razor as a cutting tool does not do bad things to curly hair, a hair stylist that is inexperienced with razors, can ruin curly hair. It's the user not the tool itself. As long as the hair is wet and the blade is new and the stylist is experienced, then it can be a really great tool for curly hair. Now that being said, it is still going to be dependent on the density of the hair on the client. If she has really thin hair, you're not gonna want to go crazy with the razor because of the thinning out factor but when properly used, It can still be a great tool for adding lift to thin hair. Also, the direction of the blade is also going to make a difference. If you are holding it at the wrong angle, then it shreds the hair causing the frizzy, split ends. Don't limit yourself as far as tools and educations goes, there's so many educational videos and information out there now that we have access to at the of our fingers. Throw out old beliefs and evolve with new techniques and explore new and different ways of doing hair.

Lili Lu: will this work if i do it without bangs?

Terri Landry: Razors are not meant for curls I’ve heard? Curls like to live in clumps?

Life9 9: Cutting pieces 9f curles after the haircut and styling is not a good idea. Since, if you wash it and style again it will not fall in shape again like that. And cutting with razor is no good for curly hair.

Parvin Masoudi: Perfect

Andrea Forero: Nice haircut, but the hair looks more wavy than curly. I don't think this would work on my hair (3a/some 3b), especially with a razor! How could I achieve a similar shape but more suited for curlier hair?

Dana Lynn: Please don't use a razor on us curly girls!

Nina Peace: Likes those curls , nice

La Gatita: I just got a cut on my wavy hair that im...not too thrilled with. Its layered but has more jagged pieces than clean layers. She said she disnt razor cut but it felt like it? Idk my hair does better with clean cut lines. This looks good I'd let Matt cut my hair .

Cathy Boswell: If you like wires for curls, this is for you. No razors for my fine curls!

rrodd80: great technique & divisions

Candy Reyes: Iam curly hair, the worst technique you for cut curls is using a razor, blond Sissors only, beautifully sections but not the razor

Maribel C: Omgggg cut my curls exactly like this

Lexi Warren: I thought it was a no no to razor cut on curly hair?

Print97: Хороший урок

Clare O'Reilly: You completely ruined the curl pattern... not to mention that every curl will and up having a rat's tail after - and if - it manages to form. This style might be ok for wavy hair but it would be a disaster for curly hair. Also, never EVER shake someones curls like that. Curls need to clump, not split.

ella val: Super!

Susan Smith: You tube must be putting hair salons out of business..I’ve been cutting my own hair for 10 years now...

Júlia Silva Emrish: wish i had four arms to try this out

Putyourhandsup2thesky: Its BANGIN!

Aliyah Craig: i need you to cut my hair omg

Larissa XO: I wish you could cut my hair!

Margo Steeden: Curly hair should never, ever be razor cut! Unless you are after a head full of frizz!

Ana_B: My favorite hairstyle
