What'S up guys Kelly and today I am doing a super quick video that you have Ximena cleansing a ton and it's about my hair, actually not about nails, maomao makeup, so I got my hair colored in February in the middle of theory, and now it is the Beginning of June, so it's been almost five months since I have dyed my hair purple and, as you guys can see, the color is still super in my hair super vivid still, and a lot of you guys are wondering how I did it, because people are constantly Asking me if I like that, touch-up or like what kind of conditioner I'm using and it was the colored conditioner and all that stuff. I never thought I did anything crazy, but when I've talked to people about it, they're always like wood. So I feared it would be a quick little thing. It'S just three things I do. I heard there were four. I was trying to think of it when I was in the shower, but I like could not remember who it was. But I'm going to tell you guys three things for now and if I ever remember already in the description so keep an eye out for that. But yeah, so let me tell you guys those three things that I do to keep my hair color lasting it for us. So before I get into it, I just want to give a little disclaimer. I am not licensed in this. I am NOT a hair professional. I'M none of these things, I'm just telling you guys will work. For me. This is not any sort of tried and true formula. I dyed my hair, a ton of time. I'Ve done a ton of different colors. You guys remember my hair used to be red and sort of faded into like a cool fuchsia, which I actually have started this purple, but this has always been what worked for me and it's always just been how I've done my hair. I'Ve been dying, my hair, since I was 14 years old, either getting it professionally done or dying myself, and this is just always how I've done hair related stuff, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is going to work for you. So it tell the work for you. I'M sorry so tip number one for you guys don't get grossed out a lot of people do this alright, but I only wash my hair once a week. The reason for that, obviously, the more you shampoo, your hair, the more the haircolor is going to come out. If you like me, have a creepy hair color, you will notice that every time you shampoo your hair a little bit that color comes out, but I have been doing that forever. I have multiple hair stylist. If that's okay, everybody has told me it's fine. I always wash my hair once a week because I had a lot of hair and I always treatment, and I just don't want training them more than once a week is taking so long. So only wash your hair once a week. If you can get away with it, I know a lot of people are always like. Oh, I wish I could get away with washing my hair once a week, but it gets creepy at the end of the day, but like so, I learned this from hairstylist, which is basically don't take my word for it. You guys should go believed if you want to confirm, but, like I have been told that when you shampoo your hair you're stripping your hair of the oil. So then your hair follicles or your head increases the production of oil. The more you shampoo, your hair, the more gritty it is prone to getting. I feel like I know this stuff, but, like I don't know the correct terminology, you know what they need if you can like slowly start to like increase the amount of times that I think you might find that your hair is getting less crazy, so definitely try It if you guys have tried anything like that. Let me know in the comments because I feel like that. Definitely could possibly maybe sort of work tip number two. So this is something that I do in the shower, and that is that, when you're washing your hair only use cold water, that's another thing that kind of blows people's mind is. When I wash my hair, i only use cold water and like in the winter. It'S a nightmare in the summer, it's like a blessing and I always try to time my showers like right after or work out, so that, like I, can do shower in a cold water, if you guys really can't handle cold water showers, just wash your hair in The sink and shower separately, but I only use cold water, so hot water is going to make your hair color come out faster, so your hair falls will open when they're hot and they close when they're cold and when they're open the hair colors more likely to Come out but when their clothes, their color stays any easier. So that's why I only use cold water. I do it when I'm showering, but you do it in the sink. If you need to do it separately, all right and tip number three is to use a sulfate-free shampoo. So I feel like this is something that I have always done, because I'd always heard that sulfates are bad for your hair, so I've always used sulfate, free, shampoo and sulfate-free conditioner. But I also read that sulfates are harsher on your hair and can make your hair color come out faster. So I feel like each thing that I do is like a little bit making better color last longer, when I do all three of them together. It'S like! Okay, your hair, just going to last for a while the specific shampoo that I use. I spend so much money on my shampoo and conditioner, just because it's important to me to have my hair color lasting because so darn expensive to get your hair done. I use the Chi keratin shampoo and conditioner a little link in the description below b9. I need to go order. Some we all do before I upload this video just in case. I don't think that many of you are going to be like rushing divide. The shampoo conditioner it's like super expensive and when I say super I just mean like more sense of the drugstore, because I don't made of money so yeah. That'S the shampoo conditioner that I use it is sulfate free and it also has the characters in it which makes your hair, nice and silky and smooth and all that stuff. And then I guess I have a couple more tips, but I feel like they're, not special tips, it's just like other random things. I use Hot Tools on my hair all the time, if that's also something that's not great for color treated hair, but I also use the Chi keratin pills, and I put that in my hair before I blow dry it before i trade, my before I curl it Before I do anything with it, that's hot and that's sort of like a protective layer over my hair and the other thing is: I try not to go underwater in chlorinated pools or in the ocean, while not tons in the ocean a while kind of locked. I don't go underwater and pull because the chlorine is a super harsh chemical and last just going to make your hair color come out. Super quick, yeah honestly, because I hope to use a quick video I feel like. I said it quickly enough be a pathologist. I have for you guys super easy if you guys have any other tips for keeping your hair lasting longer, leave them in the comments so that other people can see them and use them, and let's make everyone's funky hair, color or less like a really long time. It will be really cool. I think I might redo my hair soon, even though it's still pretty vivid, I feel like I want to kind of add more there's a lot of my hair. That is still brown that I didn't die because I feel like the more of your head. You die the more expensive it is so I feel like I want to do like some extra pieces. I don't know yet, but I'll keep you guys in the loop. Oh one, more quick disclaimer, my hair is super course, so I think color picks up on it a lot in here then some people who have finer hair and I feel like in some situations - you can do everything, but it's still not going to last as long As somebody who has more coarse, hair or hair that absorbs the color a little bit better, I it blows my mind when people tell me that they like dyed their hair, and it like came out the next week, like I'm, just like what our timers are. Less really happy year and like usually even longer than that, it's just that I read ayat because I get bored I want to do other study colors. So if you guys enjoyed this video, give it a thumbs up. Also, oh, you know be cool. You guys should suggest hair colors or like hair accent, colors from me in the comments that'd be cool, I don't know like feelings was a little bit, but I don't know if that's going to match yeah that subscribe to my channel. If you haven't already, I don't usually do a lot of hair related stuff. I mostly do Miller sometimes makeup stuff, but I feel like I can give in to giving you more and related stuff. That'S it. I think I said that three times I guess I feel like there are a lot of people who feel like they cannot do their hair, a crazy color, and I get comments about it. A lot people who are like, oh, like I wish I could do my hair, I'm sure my bad burn. I wish I could do my hair like that, but then I wouldn't be able to work in my job and I'm just like it's not like, though I feel like at my current job. I'M allowed to have crazy hair and it's not an office at my last job. I would leave on behalf of crazy hair. I feel like I've never worked. Actually, there was one drought that I worked at. That was in the medical field that they were like. You can't use it, you got your ground besides that I feel like there are a lot of places that are like opening up to it. You know what I mean it doesn't hurt to ask your employer's. You can do it, that's the other thing. I always ask my employers before I dye my hair, a different color. I just want them to know that it's coming, you know they mean they're like don't. Do it any crazier than this, and I would accept that, but nobody's ever told me that before all right, ha ha good, good, bye,

Kerstin mit K: "I'm not made of money"... :D Pls never change! I'm so tired of youtubers wasting money and spending twice my monthly budget just so they can melt lipsticks or be 'surprised' by a mystery box. I wanna see more youtubers like you. :)

Crowned Lily: I've had oily hair my WHOLE life. As an adult I learnt that washing it everyday was only making it more oily... so I now wash it every 3-4 days. I don't have a crazy color in my hair (anymore) but I always shower in lukewarm water just cause I have wicked sensitive skin so I end up red and itchy if I have a hot shower.

kickchick5683: As a hairstylist you're doing all the right steps!! #soproudofmyyoutubebaby the turquoise would be gorgeous!!

KenzieHurlock: pro tip: I work at Sally and no conditioner has sulfate in it. sulfate is used in soap to make it lather. conditioner doesn't lather. just look at the ingredients. a really good sulfate free shampoo is Ion Sulfate Free Color Defense. I use it and it doesn't strip color at all. and it's cheap. brands are making you waste money by printing "sulfate free" on their conditioners when every conditioner is already sulfate free. you're welcome. love you Kelli!

Trianna Armstrong: if you have a single color in your hair I always add I bit of the dye to my conditioner so it re-dyes your hair every time you wash it :))

Karen MS: Three weeks ago I died my hair purple with some teal highlights and I love it! I think it would look great with your hair too!

Kathy Barnes: I loved your video Kelly, very informative! I only wash my hair once a week now too. I use to have very oily hair until about 10 years ago my beautician told me I was washing my hair to much and it worked. I also use a sulfate free shampoo and during the summer cold water but during the winter luke warm water. Thank you for sharing.

Alice Addams: Hey love! Great tips that's perfect! I just wanted to give you a little tip: the "follicle" is actually where the hair grows out of, the "cuticle" is the outer layer of the hair. Great video xo

kleighmarie: Great job explaining things so they are understandable! I have such a hard time skipping days without washing

Karmen Kay: You're hair looks amazing, I can't believe it's lasted as long as it has. Amazing video Kelli ♡

sidhwen m: "Wash once a week" club! As a teenager I washed my hair every (other) day because it seemed greasy to me but then I gradually stretched out the time in between washes and my scalp got used to it/regulated itself to producing less oils. It's definitely down to marketing and stuff that over the last decades we felt the need to wash our hair as much as daily, thinking that that would be good for it. But the more you wash your hair the more sebum your scalp has to produce - and it becomes a vicious circle. (How great for the vendors...! ;) ) In my case with curly hair, it's additionally helpful to not wash it too often because the lengths will just dry out and become frizzy. Sometimes I actually just use shampoo on my scalp/roots and only use conditioner in the lengths. I think it's called co-wash? (Perhaps that is "only using conditioner for everything" though.)

Dineen Serpa: Aargh! The only thing that makes me color my hair more often than once a month is that it grows so fast!!. Since it's gone gray on the top, it seems like it grows 1/4" in a week! I do all your techniques- I started using cool water to make sure I wasn't melting all the conditioner. And I buy semi spendy salon brands, but only buy them twice a year when the liter sales are half off. I have long hair that's coarse too.

mama brokedown: Works for me too. I have short and very dry hair and find I can go sometimes as long as two weeks without washing my hair. I find my hair texture has actually improved since I stopped washing so much. Love your videos, keep on keeping on!

Gayatri Harish: Amazing tips Kellie....even I have done balayage recently so definitely these tips r gonna help me lots of love stay blessed

Rose H: shea moisture is another really great brand not as expensive as the chi, and you can find it at Walmart. Don't feel bad about only washing your hair once a week I have done it for years, and I find that my hair has become less oily and more easily manageable. Plus if your hair gets a little oily you can always put in a little bit of baby powder to absorb the oils. blue and purple

Brianna James: I like how you get right into the point. I'm too young to dye my hair but this could be very helpful in the future!

CoconutPills: I frequently read the comments while I'm watching the video, and it's crazy to me that you have 300+ comments.... and you have responded to every one! Your hair is gorgeous and your hair care tips are definitely helpful, but I'm most impressed that you are so engaged with your community, it's so good to see creators talk to their fans. Keep up the great work! And I work in the medical field too, the most they allowed was a lighter shade of brown, lol

April Simpson Hunt: Right there with you, on washing my hair once a week. I don't understand why people always seem to think it means you don't bathe...or something. I think that's the reasoning behind the "oh wow. Once a week?!?" reactions. Super helpful video. New subscriber here. Thanks for making this!

Boss Nail Art: excited to hear your hair tips! when I had green hair i washed it in cold water, then when I knew I was gonna dye it back brown I washed it in hot water a few times. The color went from bright to dull after a few washes so I think cold water makes a huge difference :D My hair was colored in the winter time so I couldn't stand the cold showers LOL I will try washing it in the sink if i dye it again! Thanks for the tips Kelli!

Anna Timm: I only wash my hair once a week as well! It took me years to train my hair down to that often. But I have waist-length blonde hair that is a very fine strand and prone to tangles and breakage. Washing more often definitely leads to more breakage for me, frizzies and flyaways, and static electricity and overall dryness. I try not to use many styling products and leave dry shampoo for the end of the week, and brush with a boar bristle brush to bring the natural oils from the roots down to the ends.

Kat Leigh: Hey Kelli! Love this video so much. And I completely agree with your tips. Unfortunately, I live in Arizona and I am not exaggerating one bit when I say that in the summer time, at least where our house is, cold water is not an option. Not at all. The water that comes out the the faucet when it is turned completely to the cold side, is about 99.6 degrees. That was first thing in the morning on a completely overcast day in July which is when our monsoon season is. To be honest, the very first minute to minute and a half after turning just the cold water on it is actually a lot cooler. But it warms up to that 99+ degrees rapidly. And let me tell you that on a completely clear day in the afternoon the water is immediately a minimum of 112+ degrees without that cool temperature start at al. (and I have tested the temperatures myself). I think someone should come up with a way to invent a water cooler that would work like a household water heater does, but for cold water. I know that they would make bank here in Arizona. Who knows, it is possible that it already exists. I just have never heard of anything like that on the market. Oh yeah, my point. Which is that using cold water to wash my hair is only possible in the summer for me if I put water jugs in the fridge and get cold water that way. But you have to be careful about how gold you get the water. Because that is one hell of a shock if you arem't prepared for it. WHOA!! I color my hair at home using Sparks, Long Lasting Bright Color and really like ii. I used Manic Panic for a long time, but it just didn't seem to last no matter what I did. Part of that was because at the time I was coloring it red, and red just does not last. Everyone I have ever asked about it, has hold me that red is impossible to get the same lasting results out of that other colors have no problem at all achieving. Currently my hair is a horizonal ombre joker green, brigh navy, and electric purple, and it is by far my favorite color combination I have done. I always wanted to do crazy colors with my hair but felf that at my age I couldn't possibly pull it off without looking like a joke. But when I turned 45, I asked myself if I really cared what other people thought of how I looked? Not at all. Well, other than my husband. I wouldn't want him to not want to be seen in public with me. LoL We don't have children and no I don't look my age, so I took the leap and started coloring just the underside of my hair in the back. It only took 8 months and I had started to color it all in bright ourtrageous colors. I absolutely love it. The best ever is when a little girl sees me in the store or on the bus and is completely enraptured by my hair. And they in some way tell me in their little small voirce, "I lke your hair, it is so pretty." Or they are whispering to their parent and pointing at me that they want their hair just like that. It is just the most amazing feeling. I get the same enraptured look from little boys with the only difference being that instead of saying they like it our they want theirs that way too. They have this real confused and perplexed look on their face and if they say anyihing it usually is to ask me why my hais is all those colors. It is equally adorable as the little girl reactions. Sorry, one last thing, is I absolutely agree with washing your heir as infrequently as you can. Whatever that happens to be for you persnally. I have also found that if you have really dry hair, like I do, and is only compounded by living in Arizona and even more so from the bleaching process I do to achieve the bright colors I do, is untess I really need to clean my hair because it has gotten actually dirty either from pollution in the air, or some other reason. If I just need to rinse my hair of sweat or dust etc, instead of shampooing my hair, I will rinse it well, and then just use a small amount of conditioner on it then rinse that out. That way I get the benefits of the conditioning without all the stripping of the natural oils on my hair from shampoo. OK WOW if you are still awake and made it this far, you definitely deserve kudos. LoL Hope you have a incredible and insightful day.

Flaca Diabla: THANK YOU! You are now going to save me plenty of cash from my 12 yr old son going to the salon every 6wks for color.

Rebecca Lerma: Because... "I'm not made of money," lol!!! I love her

Bree Penfold: Excellent tips, it's everything I do too and I works!! Definitely throw some blue or turquoise in there. If they are all jewel tones it'll all match and go well together.

Mrs K’s Korner: I wash my hair maybe twice a week. I use Suave shampoo and conditioner. I use warm/hot water. I think it also depends the color in the hair. I've dyed mine red for a lot of years. I told my stylist when grey starts coming in, I'm done dying. I have earned every single one of those grey hairs and im gonna show that sh*t off! Anyway, the red in my hair has faded very little and I have about 3 or 4 inches of growth. I also have a perm that is almost 2 years old and is still in great shape except for the new growth (which is straight as a board!) YES! Add turquoise to what you already have! It would look awesome!

profoundlycan: Your hair is amazing and I love that the color is lasting so long. I have never dyed my hair, but I love seeing good dyes on others. I would love to see what your natural texture looks like though before you straighten. I also only shampoo once a week and use a sulfate- and paraben-free shampoo. My hair is super thick, long, and curly, so moisture is a huge necessity to get my curls just perfect.

Kel H: I have bright burgundy-purple highlights and dark brown-dyed hair, and a lot of the tips you said are a lot of the same ones I use. Red-based colors fade the fastest, which is why I get so proud when it lasts lol. I also use the My Amazing Color Boost Secret Foam Rinse every other wash (suggestion of my colorist), which makes it SUPER shiny and helps balance the hair (I don't remember how it works specifically on the scientific level, but it works). When I feel like it needs a slight color boost, I use a Hot Shotz color conditioner (after the foam rinse, also suggestion of my colorist) in a similar color to my highlights, and leave it on at least 3 minutes.

Amanda Paradis: These are all the steps I followed when I had blue hair and it lasted forever! Turquoise would be SO pretty.

KalishkaRuby: I used to have coloured hair and I wish I’d seen this at the time I literally had to die it at home every 1-2 weeks to keep the colour, which I totally did not keep up with for time and finance reasons. Wish I could do it again but not sure my new job would be keen!

Phoebe Anastasia: I only wash my hair once a week too! And it only gets greasy at the end of the week when I'm ready to wash it again anyways!! People thinks it's crazy but you are totally correct about the more you wash it the quicker your body has to produce the natural oils for your hair, making it greasy in like one day! Oh and for colors maybe turquoise and purple, purple seems to be your color, but also I would loveee to see a pastel pink on you!

Glitter Lifestyle: Be - YOU - tiful! Can't wait for your next nail art tutorial. Hoping it is a summer inspired one!

Viki Wishes: You're hair is amazing! You can so tell how much you love galaxies!xx

steelcutoaths: I'm about to start interviewing for practicum student positions (basically an internship for graduate-level counseling students) and one of my top questions is what their policy is regarding hair color, tattoos, and piercings. Thanks for adding that in because I think it's extremely important to ask/check in with an employer first before showing up to work with dyed hair that isn't a natural color.

THEE Luanne: I only wash my hair once a week, sometimes longer. Unless it gets tangled. I use cold water too, even if I'm not washing my hair. I also condition my hair before I shampoo and use a leave in conditioner after. I haven't used a blow dryer for years. I put my hair up in a bun and let it dry over night. It has definitely made my hair healthier since I color it. My vote is for blue, like a cobalt blue. Turquoise is good too Love ya!!!! XOXO's

Rionach Hobbs: This is actually such good timing I'm getting my hair colour fully blonde with pink highlights next Saturday so I'm so gonna try these to see if it help, and I use to wash my hair separately when I was like 14-15 and with cold water lol, I love you by the way I only found your videos for nail art about 6 months ago and I love them I've tried all your ideas and they're super cute, I think your super talented with all your videos not just the nail art oneslove you xx

Dawn de los Muertos: I'm a retired hair and nail tech (25+ years), you are doing everything right! As for washing your hair, you should mainly concentrate on the scalp, not the hair, when washing. The cleaner your scalp is the better it is for your hair. As you massage your scalp while washing, it will work the shampoo down the hair, which cleans the hair without scrubbing it. You can use cold water but you can also use up to tepid temp, as long as it's not hot. I use "crazy colors" on my hair, too, right now it's black over, purple under. I wash it every 4 days, use a color safe shampoo & conditioner, slightly warm water (just warm/cold enough that I don't scream when it hits my head) and I only have to touch the color up once a year.

Alexandra Vicuna-Perry: Your hair looks so cool (I purple ) I used to wash my hair everyday... I have curly, frizzy, thick, and silver hair, just age and every hairdresser use to tell me not do do that, finally I stopped ...it was so hard I always felt like it was itchy, greasy and it smell bad...it's all about our mindsets...by the way your makeup is always on fleek

Raider Roo: I have been using pop colors for a while now and I looove it!! Just a small bit of advice, turquoise is gorgeous but it does fade a little quicker, and it isn't a pretty fade. It's kinda murky, lol!! Your hair is beautiful. Thanks for another super cute video!!

Kathleen P.: I used to wash my hair every single day, and gradually I let more time go between washes then eventually it got less and less greasy. I now only have to wash my hair maybe 2 times a week. Heck yes it is hard when your hair is so greasy!!! I also use dry shampoo instead of showering!!

Danny: Excellent advice for all hair types

Shepherd Sam: I have orange hair and it usually stays vivid for one to two weeks. Since I don't have loads of money and redying costs around 80 Dollars, I used to stretch the redying to six weeks. I then started to use shampoo which contains a little bit of my colour. With this method the vivid colour also fades but the general colour doesn't change to brown. I now can stretch the redying to eight weeks. Which is a huge money saver. Crazy colours aren't allowed in my job either and I often get strange comments on my hair colour. But I got hired with it and so I redye it as I like. Most people think it's copper though

Sapphire: My hair used to get super oily within 24-36 hours. I've been extended the time between washing my hair for a couple of years, and now I can go over 48 hours before it starts getting visibly greasy. Luckily I work from home, so I can just not leave the house once it starts showing the oil, and try to extend the time further. My hair is super-fine though, so it will probably always show the oil in less than a week. Also note that this method is true of ferrets too! I just got two ferrets last month, and the more you bathe them, the stinkier they get! Stripping their skin of oils makes them produce even more oil, so they get smelly even faster. The general consensus is to not bathe ferrets any more often than once per month, and many owners only bathe them twice per year (during the two shedding seasons, to help them shed faster). That sounds great to me, because most ferrets hate being bathed. Not sure how my girls are going to take it, but I don't want to stress them out if I can avoid it. One last thing, I'm not sure I understand the cold water and hair follicle thing. The follicle is only at the root of your hair, right? All of the color is already gone from that part of your hair, so the follicle opening and closing with hot or cold water doesn't seem like it should matter. The hair itself is all dead cells, so I don't think there's anything that opens or closes on the whole length of the hair, is there? Is there maybe something else going on with the cold water that explains how it helps retain color?

Helene Laforge: I do most of those tips, especially the cold water shower!! IT WORKS!!

Bri_ PlaysRoblox: I need this so much I did my hair colored and I love it like thissss

Kera Fishwick: you should do an indigo color, i did indigo with a purple very similar to yours and they both looked really good together and the blue fades to a lighter color that's like a turquoise and is really pretty!

Kelsie Wilson: I think more people are finally learning not to wash your hair so much! Every 4-5 days, dry shampoo in between, and there is a period where your hair has to get used to it! I don't think turquoise all over would work with your complexion, but if you did your natural brown with some turquoise I think it would look great! I used to work in childcare and one of my coworkers colored her hair rose gold and pink and was told she either needed to cover it up or quit. Riiiiiididculous. Also she quit

Miss Lady: <3 Great video very helpful <3

Amy: I love deep navy/indigo, deep emerald, turqoise and deep purple with brown hair. Your hair is beautiful and you seem like a beautiful person on the inside as well! :)

Kai Stockman: I only wash 1x per week too. Sometimes it lasts longer. My hair gets more greasy if I wash too much. Also once I used conditioner and thought it was shampoo. So I conditioned twice actually and my hair looked so amazing.

Joyce Thomas: I've always loved your hair color. It is so beautiful on you. I would love to dye my hair a deep Burgundy red but I would have to bleach my hair and that part scares me.

Kiz Nibbs: My hair is bright blue right now, but I have super fine hair and use semi-permanent creams, so it fades after like three washes.... Looks cool when it fades though! Mermaid hair! Totally going to try washing it with cold water though, I never thought of that. I love the colours you have, and I think you're right, most employers don't care what colour your hair is!

Katie Chase: I wash my hair once a week too. dry shampoo as needed throughout the week. I was thinking that aqua or turquoise would be pretty awesome too.

Kendra Jarvis: Sulfate free has made the most difference in my hair. I have coarse hair too and it has definitely smoothed it out.

PaulaBGood: OK, so the wavey-chin-gill thing should TOTALLY be your "outdo". I mean...nobody else does that and it's hilarious...it's a keeper

Sara Cain: When I died my hair burgundy, I used the Regis designline enchanted shampoo. Color lasted forever!

kilsimiv09: Teal or turquoise would be really pretty! I currently have blue, purple, pink, and teal in mine and I love them together.

vicki0145: Hi lovely Kelli, I like your hair colour as is & yes I think turquoise would look great, but as a nail tech of 40yrs, when I do a purple colour as you've done I always put green with it as green goes fabulously well with pinks & purples. I cannot guarantee it'd look nice on your hair, but I've definitely got a sneaky suspicion it would look spectacular, but thats just my thinking. I've sent this video to my daughter Mandi, because of the lockdown she cannot get her hair done, its about your length, the worry we have is her hair is bleached, because of 5mths in lockdown its grown & she has gross brown the top, do you know if it would be safe for her to put a colour such as yours on her hair, she's desperate to have a go, but is nervous it might end up a disgusting green or worse fall out, any help would be much appreciated, thanks Kelli. Also thanks you for another very informative & a Kelli fun video.Love from across the pond...…….Xv

ACWells13: While you are correct that over-washing hair can over-stimulate grease production, you can get a fairly good idea of whether you can drop to less or not based on your skin. My skin is *super* oily (it's fine, I'm 33 and I still get ID'd buying beer) and my hair is gorgeous like yours for a day then lank, limp and greasy- and there've been times I've only had the energy to wash my hair once a week and it makes no difference (except it's SUPER gross at the end of the week!!) If you have more regular skin or dry skin though you can definitely get away with washing it less often, but if you have to leave the house people might not be too keen to touch you on day 3 while you're getting used to washing it less :D

HerNameIsHope: I can't believe your hair has lasted this long! My hair is purple and I always have to re-color it every couple months. I need to try showering with cold water. But I have to wash my hair at least three times a week. No matter how long I try I try to avoid washing my hair, it just gets really oily. Do you use a dry shampoo?

RonneeSue Scott: I've never washed my hair more than once a week. I have soooo much hair, and it takes forever to do. I've dreaded it since I was little. I'm lucky that I have dry hair, so it doesn't get oily. It's really thick and curly. What color is the purple in your hair? It's the prettiest purple I've ever seen. Have you ever tried WEN shampoo? It's really pricey, but works amazing, and is great for color treated hair. You can try it for $30. I was going to suggest turquoise, but don't do green. I loved this video. You're so beautiful Kelli, and have such a vibrant personality. You should be modeling or acting! Love you girl!

Garnet: I only wash my hair once a week as well sometimes a bit longer if I'm not doing anything for the forseeable future. In between washes I'll dust my hair with cornstarch to soak up any excess oils but it can lighten the color temporarily. I usually have bleached blonde hair (fading out from hot pink though atm) so the lightening isn't as noticeable. If you have darker colored hair you might notice the color difference more.. I also like to keep my hair in braids or curls between washing. I've found that when I curl my hair it looks and feels less oily longer which was kind of surprising..?

Jessica Smith: I think turquoise would look great as an accent in your hair. I have been washing my hair once a week for years, too. I sometimes do more if I have a thing I'm going to and it's closer to the end of the week and I'm more greasy than I would like to be.

Robin Wolfe: Interesting TFS Kelli I get my hair colored to ❤️❤️

Diana Weaver: I only wash my hair once a week as well, unless something got in it(i have 4 young kids so yeah...lol). however, my hair still does get pretty greasy sometimes which I think makes it heavier and I get headaches. I feel like I'm missing something. And I have thick hair but I CANNOT get my hair to go blonde on my own. And I'm afraid to bleach it. any suggestions for my annoying problems?

BlackThornRose127: Joico semi-permanent dyes tend to last really well in the hair compared to other brands, and obviously the darker the dye is the longer it lasts. If you go for something pastel, chances are it will come out much quicker.

Tay: Please do hair!!! You're gorgeous!! How do you keep your hair from getting oily even though you only wash it once a week. I have super oily hair. I have a mix of course/fineish wavy hair and it's very oily. So do you use a dry shampoo through the week by chance? What do you use to soak excess oils?

Ali B: Great video!!! I love your hair btw!!!

Sarah Houle: So what's a good dry shampoo for the in-between washing days?

Fallon Zoey: Ive been meaning to tell you about 2 things...1. brazilian bond builder which is an additive to protect hair when coloring and also helps people maintain fashion colors. Sold only to licensed pros, but im sure you could figure a way to get it. i follow them on snapchat and their always doing something fun! 2. New shampoo stuff called Viral Colorwash by Celeb Luxury. I dont know much about it but its fashion color shampoo that deposits color. I watched all the insta stuff from the hair show premier orlando and it was a hit there. Check out the celeb luxury page on insta. Oh one more thing....check out the Nexxus pre wash primer. It helps protect the color before washing. Lastly..have you heard of artic fox color?I follow them on snap too and i like their colors. i use to have pink streaks so i still am interested in fashion colors plus i went to cosmetology school so hair is a general interest of mine thats how i hear about this stuff. Some pro color to look into is the new guy tang mydenity line....also joico intensity won hair stylist choice award for fashion colors. Fashion colors are any non natural colors by the way. Check out those 3...artic fox, joico intensity, & guy tang mydentity if your looking for new colors. the purple is awesome on you and turquoise would look great! i was gonna mention a blue w/ greenish tint right when i heard you say that! Also i picked up a crystal nail file after you recommended it and i love it! I gotta rewatch this video now bc i wrote this comment through the whole thing! lol. xoxoPS check out my pic on instagram...@fallonzoey, i just went platinum yesterday and im gonna go more silver soon! Follow me too if you want!

Ima Freewoman: I'm a once a week hair washer. My blonde highlights last forever. I just have to get my roots done when I can't stand them anymore. I do use dry shampoo about once a week.

Maryann Gabriella Peper: I was thinking a tealy, greeny-blue color! My hair is currently a few shades of purple with a touch of wine color. Next time I'll add a little more wine or plum colors.

geekista: I love your eye makeup here

Adrian Collado: I just got my hair dyed but I'm scared that it might wear off really soon. Mainly because I feel like my hair is not coarse and such. Hairsprays doesn't even work for me.

ninegreydaisies: I miss my purple hair so much! I had to stop since my scalp is super sensitive to the color. I think the turquoise would be fun though!

Mystiqueivy: super tips! i do all those things and it still comes out fast :( but i think its bc of what you said, my hair is really thin so, and i do go to the lake often. i know the lake is not chlorinated but i guess it affects it too haha. i dyed my hair in november for my bday, i actually wanted purple but like a black purple and they left it like fucsia at the salon :( it didnt look bad but it wasn't what i wanted so that was disappointing. i went back in december for a touch up and it came out looking the same :( and then the color bled out horribly like an orange and i hated it so ended up dying it brown again which is my natural color :( i still kind of want to have purple hair but its so much maintenance and plus they had to bleach my hair and it felt AWFUL to the touch so all my money lately has been spent on masks and products to try to make it look healthy again and it's looking better now but still. normal colors are so boring but dyeing your hair damages it so much :( the struggle is real hahaha! did you dye it yourself or went to the salon? how much does it cost at the salon on average if you dont mind me asking?? also, i think it depends on the country you live, regarding the jobs. the US is pretty open minded, but some countries arent. i used to be a teacher and we couldnt have visible tattoos and i had to take my nose piercing out when teaching cause they didnt allow that either! now i work as a translator at my best friend's company, and he doesnt care what i wear or how i look lol, so i know i could do sth really crazy even if my mom would hate it, lol. omg sorry this was so long!! i defo would like to see more hair vids from you!!! ❤

Marissa S.: Turquoise! Yes! I'm lucky to have a boss who is okay with my hair color spunk. 2/3 of my bangs are 5 shades of blue/purple and sometimes I'll throw in red. I get compliments often. Not too "in your face wild" that makes people think I'm a weirdo. (If they only knew me lol) Love your tips! I have also trained to wash every other day so far. Greasy hair was my reasoning for everyday but once you get through it, it's worth it! Still shy from cold showers, I love my warm water Might have to invest in your shampoo suggestion.

Elaine Lane: Your hair matches you so well!

Jana Melody Appleby: Hello I jope you and Evan are well! Funnily enough, i have always washed my hair once abweek(I still do) because my hair is so long and I use a lot of water, so I do that to save water!(u can sit on my hair and it's still long enough to stop at the top of my thighs) ;)

Reena Purdy: Cold water closes the hair cuticle...proud you're sharing these tips

Jezek Hashimoto: I have Asian hair and I wash it everyday. My hair is dyed bright red! (And has been for about the same amount of time that your purple has been in your hair.) If I skip one day of hair washing, it gets super oily and yucky. Using dry shampoo doesn't help either; it makes it worse!! >:( I don't wash my hair in cold water since I can't stand to do that; I usually wash it in semi-cold (lukewarm) water. To keep my red vibrant, I make my own color depositing conditioner. I also use sulfate free shampoo for when my hair is dyed an unnatural colour and yes, I have noticed that it does help to keep the color in. I also use SheaMoisture leave in conditioner, on my ends *only*, because it is an ethnic product and leaves my hair greasy if I use it all over.

ashleigh ahumado: have you tried the joico shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair? since you use the joico color I was just curious

Ruthie Cohen: Using conditioner only (no shampoo) for cleaning also helps preserve color.

Kelly Henson: I LOVE YOUR HAIR!!

Jessica Stratton: You should totally do some turquoise! That would be awesome!

Tasha Freeman: Hair discrimination!!!! I would dye ALL of my hair if I thought I could get away with it at work...apparently...I'm "cutting edge"... I have purple and blue "chunks" in my hair but I don't have an all over funky color... I found THE LOOP HOLE in company policy!

Etta: you and simplynailogical both are nail channels, and uploaded hair videos today... COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT

peanutbutteranjali: a color similar to your liquid latex would go really well with the purple! lol

Have U SMILED 2day: I can’t get red out of my hair! If you don’t want your hair to fade much at all go red. First few washes some will come out in wash but most color will stay.

Hanaa: Would it be okay to wash your hair regularly but only use conditioner and body wash?

Paige Woodward: I think blue or turquoise would look great on you!

HIM_Princess_616: Where I work, your hair has to be a natural color. We also can't have visible tattoos or facial piercings :/ I wish I could have wild colors! I envy your hair color!

LivenItUp: I do wash my hair twice a weak :) so I am not grossed out by you washing your hair only once a week

Angela Read: Hi Kelli, I love watching all of your tutorials, I try them, but they never look as nice as yours, but there again, I don't have steady hands & my wrists get tired a lot because I have arthritis, long story about a car crash & long term use of crutches!! .. .. .. Anyway, just a quick line to let you know I heard the same advice about washing your hair too often & I should stop washing it every other day & try it just once a week. I tried for 6mths only washing my hair once a week & it doesn't do anything at all? I have gone back to washing it every other day now for the simple reason that my hair looks & feels like I haven't washed it in decades, it's horrible, it's flat, lifeless & just looks like I've dipped my head in a chip pan. So although it might work for a few, there is probably a minority like me that just can't go 48hrs without a hair wash. My skin is also generally oily. I have a peel off face mask that I use every other day & it feels lovely when it comes off, but even just overnight my skin goes right back to feeling oily. I don't think there is much I can do about it. I do always get products that don't have oil in them, I get a good 80% of my products from "The Body Shop" & they moisturise without the heavy oily feeling, but I've tried everything to get less oily skin, even my Dr is clueless, but from Herbal Remedies to prescription drugs, I've tried every diet under the sun as my Dr thought it may have been something I was eating, but after a carefully planned 2mth diet, my hair, skin & nails are a complete mess. My nails constantly split, I've yet to find a nail varnish that stays put more than a few hours, even with a very expensive base & top coat?? If you have any idea's or talk to anyone who has any idea's, they would be gratefully appreciated. Anyway, I've bored you enough, Take Care & keep up the good work .. Hugzzz xxx

Rebecca Smith: Not washing your hair everyday it'sactually good for people. I heard of the cold water it's true...woah I feel better got that off my chest. I do buy expensive shampoo I don't buy conditioner. That makes my hair oily. I do a hair conditioning treatment once a week. Turquoise! turquoise! Turquoise!.☮

Deanna Martinez: I used to wash my hair every day but then I tried dry shampoo and it went to every other day. now I can do two days with no dry shampoo most days.

lily Barr: Thanks for the info.

Makalah Winn: when we say wash the hair do we mean like actual shampoo and condition or just wetting it. i recently colored my hair and i have curly hair. i wet it in the shower everyday but do an actual deep wash once a week

Alexandria Fitzwater: I don't know if you have a tjmaxx or something similar in your area, but they always have the chi keratin shampoo, conditioner and the oil. It is a lot cheaper there, I have been using the hask monoi coconut oil shampoo and conditioner. It's 5.99 at ulta and you can use the coupons on it. Last week it was bogo 50percent off. It is paraben and sulfate free and has really improved my hair. It does not fall out near as much now. I'm 31 and I feel like the other shampoos may have been contributing to my hair coming out or maybe it's stress too, but either way the bask shampoo smells amazing, it's cheap and works for me. I need to try the chi next time though.

Maia Sutton: Using dry shampoo helps in between washings if people are finding their hair looks greasy.

brurya henig: do you have a suggestion for any specific brand of "crazy" color hair dye?
