I Tried Four Temporary Hair Dyes That Change Your Hair Color In Seconds

Temporary hair dyes can be an easy, low-cost way to switch up your hair color without the use of harmful chemicals. We tested four kinds of temporary hair dye: Good Dye Young Poser Paste, Gemini Naturals Get Hued, Manic Panic Dye Hard, and Mofajang.

Producer Nico puts four temporary hair dyes in different price ranges to the test to find the best one. She tests the dyes on color payoff, transfer-proofness, and how easily they wash out. In the end, she ranks each temporary hair dye from best to worst.

Nico Reyes Today, I'm gon na be testing out four temporary hair dyes., I'm somebody who does not want to permanently dye my hair, but these temporary dyes could be a fun way to switch up the color. Whenever I want to. The dyes, I'm gon na be testing out, are Manic Panic's Dye, Hard, Good Dye, Young's Poser, Paste, Gemini Naturals' Get Hued and Mofajang.. I'M gon na be testing out the hair dyes on their color payoff, their transfer-proofness and how easily they wash out.. All of these hair dyes are also in different price ranges, so we'll see if the quality of the dye changes with the price point.. The first temporary dye that I'm gon na try out is this one from Gemini Naturals and it's their Get Hued collection and it's in the shade Cobalt.. So, in order to test out all of these dyes on their transfer-proofness, I am going to invite a very tall friend wearing a very white T-shirt into the studio, hug him and we'll see if any of this dye transfers onto his shirt.. I don't see anything kind of a little in the center.. You can see like the slightest tinge of blue like right here and here, like very slightly.. That is really impressive, So the Gemini Naturals [ Get Hued. ] was actually really great, even though I was really disappointed in how much product you actually go. Through., At least I do because I'm somebody with very thick hair., Not a lot transferred onto Grant's shirt when I did my little hugging test.. It'S definitely not the easiest. To wash out, but I do have to say, I am not shampooing my hair in my workplace bathroom.. I am just rinsing it with the water from the sink and seeing how much comes out with that.. Next up, I am gon na try Manic Panic's Dye Hard in the shade Electric Flamingo and it is electric.. This is the pinkest pink. I think I've ever seen in my life. I've heard of Manic. Panic before. Never tried any of their products, but they are a very well-known hair-coloring dyeing brand. Grant Tyler Hug me brother. Reyes Hug me brother, Yup, there's definitely pink. Not here, but we see it here and then I saw some right here on his sleeve.. So the Dye Hard, actually rinsed out of my hair fairly quickly., Definitely a lot quicker than the Get Hued one.. I think that the color, although it was not what I expected it to be, it was definitely not pink on my hair color. It was still pretty cool.. I was expecting a little bit more from the color payoff, just because Manic Panic is like known for these extremely pigmented dyes, but I'm also a brunette.. It doesn't really work the same for me and I should have known better.. I should have known that that pink was not going to happen on my hair. Next up, I'm going to try out the Mofajang Hair Coloring Material.. Now I've done a video on this product in the past. Ew. I don't like what it just did to my hair.. The weird thing about Mofajang is that I can't find its like original source. There's no like online Mofajang store where you can order this stuff from.. I found it on Amazon for $ 7.99, so that makes this one our cheapest hair dye of the day.. We got some right here. We got some right there. When I first tried the Mofajang. I really didn't hate it, but I did hate the way it felt when it dried, and this time it was no different.. It does dry to this really crunchy hard texture. That is just not pleasant., I don't think anybody wants hard crunchy hair., But it did have a really nice color payoff and it rinsed out in the sink fairly quickly.. The final temporary dye that I'm gon na be trying out is the Poser Paste from Good Dye. Young., This is actually Hayley Williams' hair-dye, company., Hayley Williams, Paramore.. We all know her. We all love her.. The color that I got is called Kowabunga, which is so fun because it's green, just like the Mutant, Ninja Turtles., Just looking at it inside the jar. It does look like a much more dry formula than the rest of the colors.. I feel like. I look like the Joker.. Ok, the final hug. Here we go. - Oh, my God, I'm flaking everywhere. It'S disgusting. You can see the green flakes.. My hair texture in this moment feels so terrible and dry and, like there's some weird film on my hair, it feels awful.. I cannot wait to go home and use the deepest of conditioners on my hair, because, right now it just feels dead.. It feels terrible right, now. After trying out all four of these temporary hair dyes. I think that I've finally come to a winner and that winner is the Get Hued by Gemini Naturals., Even though it is the most expensive hair dye that I tried out today. It performed really well overall.. The color payoff was actually great and I thought that the blue really stood out against my dark hair.. I think that between the color and the formula it performed really really well.. When it came to the transfer-proof test, the blue really did not rub off at all.. It was barely noticeable really hard to see, so it definitely did really well with that.. It did give me a bit of a hard time when I was rinsing it out, but it definitely was not the worst.. I used way less of the Get Hued in the end than I did with the Dye Hard, which tells me that I get more bang for my buck with the Get Hued.. I definitely have to give second place to Manic Panic's Dye Hard.. This one was a really great formula and an even cheaper price point than Get Hued, but my problem with it was that I had to use more of the Dye Hard than I did with the Get Hued in order to have a really good color payoff., The Mofajang was fine.. I still to this day, do not like how it leaves my hair feeling all dry and crunchy, so I would definitely put it at third place.. The biggest loser today was obviously the Poser Paste.. It was an OK, color payoff.. I feel like the green did look kind of vibrant against my hair, but when it came to transfer-proofness and washing it out, it just failed. It failed miserably.. So when it comes to temporary hair dyes, I say spend a little more for a product that performs better and try out Get Hued.

Molly Stead: Suggestion: Maybe next time use the same color for each dye. Then we would really be able to tell which one works best.

Just About: I dont think this was a very good test because 1) some of these products clearly state "to be used on damp hair" 2) you should have done the tests on separate days, seems sketch that the order you applied the dyes was the exact order they got in their final ranking 3) I think that electric pink looked really nice on you lol

Lindsey Burnside: I've tried the manic panic and Gemini Naturals get hued, and the Gemini Naturals one was better by far! I've tried on damp and dry hair and both her pretty easy to apply, but my favorite way was applying damp in sections (looks really natural) and then adding a bit more on dry hair for some vibrant pops. Glad I'm not missing out! I'll just buy more colors from them!

At first I thought it wasn't working when I was applying in the bathroom under an LED light, but when I walked out into my bedroom to the mirror in the natural sunlight I was shocked at how vibrant and blue my hair was. My daughter's hair color is a 2 or 4 so when i tried it on hers it looked like a deep purple. I like the product alot. I wore my hair like that to work and most ppl didn't even know it was blue because it wasn't obvious when I was inside. I went to bed with it in my hair without any transfer to the pillow. I think your hair needed more time to dry and sometimes looked like some product was heavier on some of your curls.... But great video! I only knew of two of those products and I'm super excited to hear Hailey Williams has hair products!

nezuko: When you use the mofajang hair dye you have to make sure your hair is wet and use your regular products so it doesn’t come out crunchy (for curly hair) I tried this because I also have curly hair and it works great

Brianna Bustamante: That Manic Panic dye turned your entire head copper so I'd say it did it's job, (REALLY GOOD TOO) being the pink wouldn't normally transfer to a darker color even with a permanent or semi permanent, so a temporary would not gonna have that affect either.

Ha Lg: I use Splat 30 wash bleachless dyes and those may as well be permanent, because they don't fade out. It took years for me to even try that type. No other dyes would stick to my badly damaged hair. But my hair has actually recovered since I switched.

L M: With poser paste, it’s difficult to judge against these because it’s not the same type of product. You can fluff it on, but it’s a colored styling wax. In my opinion, the coolest poser paste looks are the looks that slap it on like a thick paste. Hayley used it a lot on tour and had awesome looks. Also because if it’s texture, rinsing it out with water just doesn’t work. They made it virtually water proof so you need shampoo to break down the wax. As soon as I saw the no shampoo thing I was look oof, it won’t wash out. I will say I don’t like the flaking either though. But it’s super fun to use for concerts and you don’t sweat it out.

Leonel Lin: I’m fairly sure Mofajang translates to magic sauce in Chinese, which would explain why she can’t find the source of it and why it’s so cheap. It’s sold from overseas through amazon only.

Candace the Magnificent: When you work with these products, your hair needs to be freshly washed and conditioned. It works best when your [curly, don't know it would work on straight haired ppl) hair is still a bit damp, never dry. Her first video with the Mofajang happened bc she used it on bone dry hair and didn't fluff it. Also, the color transfer is happening way worse than it has on me bc she isn't allowing it to dry in your hair. The fact the product coats your strings means your hair will stay sealed and hydrated until you wash it out. I recommend watching Laurscurls videos on these to get better tips. You can't do these in your work bathroom without at least a spray bottle and some conditioner.

HermesGeko: I'm pretty sure some of these are supposed to be applied to damp hair. Temporary color can be thinned out if its a little too dry to work with... I have always used a little hair gel. Crunchy can sometimes be fixed depending on the ingredients as well... But I'm not familiar with the super crunchy brand you used. But I have mixed in hair creams or oils before to lessens the color crunch and then sealed with a flexible fine mist hair spray. Dark hair and more temporary product is unavoidable... They haven't come out with a pigment able to cover sexy black and brunette yet... Tell them to work harder everyone likes to have fun with bright color and not have to commit or go boring blonde. One good thing is you don't have to worry about unintentional staining of your hair. It has happened to me many times. I had my hair stained for over two months before ( yellow green blotches) from temporary but I also has it where semi permanent color washed out in less than a week. Lol Your friend is handsome and you are gorgeous in every color from your natural to the green!
