This Clairol video is about tips on how to create highlights on brown hair at home with James Corbett.

Hi there. It's James, Clairol Color Director.. Today, I'm going to walk you through two techniques that you can do together or separately to create beautiful brunette, highlights. You'll unlock the artist inside you using Nice'n, Easy Hairpainting.. The trick is to go subtle, apply, thin, highlights and don't leave the product in your hair too. Long. Remember you can always go a little more dramatic next time.. The first technique is an easy way to add a dynamic twist to your brunette. Hair. Ashley is going to create a few face, framing highlights using the balayage technique, which is really just a fancy word for painting highlights. To create this look in a snap start by combing your hair. All the way back and clip it. Using the included brush, apply the Nice'n, Easy Hairpainting, color mixture. Working with your natural haircut and face shape. You can create gorgeous hairpainting highlights. Technique. Number two is sombre or subtle. Ombre.. These highlights at the ends of your hair, can add a beautiful pop of color and just a little hint of light. Ashley's going to achieve this. Look today using Nice'n, Easy Hairpainting. We're going to start by clipping the top part of your hair out of the way.. This gives you easy access to the underneath section of your hair.. Highlighting here will give you a more subtle, sombre. Look. Next prepare the color mixture. Now brush on to only the tips of your hair. Make sure your brush strokes are gentle.. This will help you to avoid creating hard lines on the highlights. Pay attention to the timer.. The longer you leave the color in the lighter your hair will be. For Ashley. We left the product in for 30 minutes.. Then we rinsed and shampooed. The last step to highlighting and the key to success is glossing with Natural Instincts.. Natural Instincts can be used any time to give that `` just came from the salon'', color gloss and shine.. You can do a round right after coloring, or you can do it once a month to add some subtle cool tones to your hair or to warm it up.. On Ashley, we cooled down her highlights using Natural Instincts brass free, shade in 6.5 C. This is also a really great troubleshooting tip for toning down brassiness.. Many women complain about unwanted warmth or red tones in their brown hair.. Natural Instincts. 6.5 C is a great solution to this problem.. If you want a completely different look, you can use the same technique but gloss with a warm color. For caramel tones. Try Navajo Bronze, 6 BZ. Or if you want to [ brunette ] it up, try Cinnaberry 5 R. Nice'n, Easy Hairpainting highlights at home are so easy. Courtney Sprinkle: I have been dying to dye my hair a dark purple color (again, bc it looks amazing on me!!! lol). However, I am beyond anxious to try out the balayage and/or ombre with a blonde color. I am scares that the blonde will just become brassy and my current dream look will just be a disaster. I have had both boxes of the VS London Lilac and the Clairol Hairpainting kit for weeks now and I have finally gotten up the nerve to do it tmrw morning. So here goes nothing, I will update everyone when I get to the final result and hopefully it will turn out exactly like I hope! wish me luck!
