Let me just start by saying, as a black woman, hair is a serious matter, especially when we travel before we travel. There is serious and meticulous planning that goes into our vacation hair. We pick the style schedule, the appointment weeks in advance, buy the products and our hair and sometimes slide out of work a little early just to make that appointment all to achieve the most luxurious, Graham worthy hair. So what happens when you take all that away and just hop on the plane as it will? They know how to do my hair? Will they have the right coal? Will it be too expensive and will it take all day hysteria chase you on this episode of Sisterhood of the travelling flat eyes, so we are in Vegas for the week and basically, we are just trying to figure out what type of hair salons exist in Vegas. That are, for us, that'll do a good job, just in case we're in a pinch and can't get our hair done before traveling to Vegas before coming Vegas. I don't have time to do my hair, so she's a lady on the move. Ladies and gentleman, a lady on the move, listen so I'm a little bit nervous because normally I have like my goats and people like everybody, you don't have people in different places, so I have a person in Jersey. I have a prince in New York. I had my first fish when I'm home in Georgia. I just know that, like what I'm trapped, I just know it takes a really long time and so, when I'm traveling, I want to be spending time doing like the things that I came to do, and I just know that if I come without my hair done, That'S the whole day gone okay! Well, I'm excited I'll, be there tearing one, it's really really cute. How are you I'm good Danielle SS yeah nice to meet? You welcome hi Chiara, and this is me Ori hi me Lauri. I CR! Yes, man yeah, welcome you guys. So I detangle mine - I just did like with conditioner I'm like a little Co watch like not a lot of product. Isn'T it at all, because I knew I was coming here today. So it's detangled! It'S pretty dry right now because there's like I said, not really anything in it. I work a lot and I just don't have the time to do it. Nor do I have the upper body arm strength. Do you deep condition regular? I do Naveed condition regularly to be quite honest, like I just kind of shampoo and put in a leave-in. If I'm at a salon like I am today, then the stylist will normally deep conditioned and that's about as often as I deep condition. Okay, so I'm gon na recommend that, because your hair is dry, that you do deep condition more often at least once a month, you do have a lot of dryness on the ends, but keep in mind that this is aged hair here, okay, so it's just older Hair and that's why it tends to look thinner or see-through if you're wanting to grow your hair longer, we usually recommend trims between three to six months. If you're wanting to maintain shape in style, we recommend a little bit sooner so between two to three months. So, are you tender-headed? Yes, okay, we do we. We definitely recommend that our guests that want that service to come in to get it done versus doing it themselves at home, because at home is where the damage usually happens, putting too much product in their hair. That'S oil base or butter base: that's not a heat protectant and it just sizzles. So that's permanently straightening your hair. Another mistake is not using a heat protectant. Another mistake is not making sure that the hair is already detangled and smooth prior to picking up the flatiron. So if you, let's just say you let your hair, air-dry and you're like oh I'm, just the flatter is gon na straighten it. It'S not it's just gon na you're gon na cause damage that way. So it's good to try to get it smooth using the paddle brush to stretch the hair and to smooth it. That way. First then go back in with the heat protectant and the Flatiron. I'Ve never done this during the trim process. Freddie. Have you ever done all this when you got to turn? No, you I'm the only one that does this as a hairstylist, where artists we're creative but you're, really sculpting a shape, so we're all done with your cut. So now we're gon na go over. How does that feel? How do you like it feel your hair fill the ends? Tell me what you think: do you, like the shape, try to pull it up in a pouf yeah, so we're gon na come over to the shampoo bowl, all right so how's that temperature, if you could feel it yet, let me know we're gon na start with Warm water and then back off to cool only whacker, really beep, angrily. I needed it to be like okay, approximately expose my Harold is been and I'll be real cute and ready to hit this town if it feels a little uncomfortable. Just let us know, hey yeah is Emma okay. What we're gon na do next is we're going to Pat the water out of your hair, using our microfiber towel. We'Re just gon na get the water out gently that way. First and then we're going to moisturize your hair with a butter to steal your hair to seal in the moisture and then we're going to use a custard to define your twist out and then we're gon na sit you under the dryer after we do some big Fat chunky twists, okay, so we're going to hopefully be fully dry in 20 minutes ready. Oh my gosh! Absolutely you can make it stretch it. Oh good! The shake is amazing. This shape is insane. This shape looks so so so good. So so much you're amazed. Do you love it? I love it so much so, and this was all you remember. I said I was just the facilitator. This is all-natural. This is all you ghosts. Layaway me me, flip your hair, come by. Oh yeah, don't look in the back. Growth. Is not research is ready, it is helping me this is some next morning and we are about to attempt to take this twist out out. I'M a little bit scared cuz, I don't know. But okay, let me see the moment of truth. Since I was a chunky twist like she thank you like a loom, they look juicy yeah. As you see, I have my mother Jesse button. This is out. This is like a twist of rebel, nice and plump. I'Ve done chunky Swiss before, but what I do with mine is I've been to not after is twisted, so I have even more and you know because it can be the chunkier. It is the least definition, but I'm just trying to do this exactly as shoes. I feel like for me to achieve a little bit more definition on day two I would have had to like ban tsunamis, which I'll try that too right and see how it works. For me, it looks a little bit more like Dave for hair that we're gon na feel like this is more of your vibe than how it well yesterday, I feel like this is more my vibe to it feels very, like moisturize, I'm, which I appreciate, because my Hair was so dry going for her yeah and, like your ends, look really good yeah that a nice trim and a really good trim a very thorough trims. My man look good, we'll see how it holds up together. You have an event, I'm not where you may be doing like a little bit of like physical activity may be sweating a little bit so we'll see how about a little bit and we'll see how it holds up. When I like put these muscles to the test. Hey guys, I just finished performing I'm here to give you an update on my hair and tell you guys it looks so good like it is full-on 7ds Diana Ross like it's just amazing. It'S just bomb bomb hair, a low key looks like a wig, but it's not. It saw me girls, the chunkier twists and especially as the hair gets older, like it just looks so full and it's just like just look like it's like never-ending, like you can't even see my scalp, it's just hair everywhere. I also think Danielle and her team are just really really good with hair health, because my hair feels so soft, so hydrated so moisturized. I wish I could touch it maybe come in. Maybe you can touch it. It feels so good and I'm obsessed so yeah. It'S just super full super. Healthy, no split ends, just all life, all body. So thank you think yeah. I radically curly love you guys, and I will see you next time on the races.

Kayla Moore: Best vacation style is braids/twists PERIOD. You ain't gotta do NOTHING lol

SatounoKumo: me: not a black woman me: never do my hair me: never going to Vegas "Let's watch this."

msakikibee: I feel like the description of this video and what actually happened does not match. Really Essence just made an appointment at a salon to go get her hair done in Vegas once she got off the plane. She already knew where she was going. I dunno...I was just expecting something more. Also as an aside, I personally cannot stand when two people are working on my hair and do not try to balance each other. Instant headache lol

R K: shes gorgeous everything hair skin face body and personality bubbly charisma

Thatgirlcarri: This happened to me! So I went to Vegas with my hair done. Went to a spa and my treatment came with some kind of hot oil treatment and I didn't realize it! Oh did I mention that I am natural and I got my hair freshly pressed right before the trip! Ahhh! yeah. I was internally freaking out as the oil was running down my scalp. We were only on our first full day of the trip and still had two full days to go! I was like what am I going to do! definitely didn't want to wear my hair in a bun the rest of the trip! We were staying at the Cosmo and surprisingly the DryBar of all places, in the Cosmo, had several black stylist. I was able to make an appointment for that evening and they were able to get me back right! Shout out to the girls at the DryBar Cosmo!

M Q: I love African hair and I’m asian..it’s unique to their race as far as I know. I love that people are flauntin it now

Catherine: When she asked "are you tender headed" I FELT THAT

Angela M.: I LOOOOOOVE how she asked Essence if she was “tender-headed”! It hurts sometimes!!!

Katie Bradley: African hair is so amazing and gorgeous. I’m completely jealous of how much it can change and be manipulated. Y’all hair is gorgeous and I’m obsessed (my hair is so boring!)

JustSay Jackie: That shrinkage after they washed her hair was wild! I have never tried to go to another city with my hair not done. Getting my hair done before a trip is planned ahead just like packing lol.

KinksandDrinks: I just love and appreciate how this video is informing so many people on what black woman go through to slay during a vacation.

micro kirby: I never knew girls do so much planning to get their hair right before traveling

Jessica Sponseller: I feel like this would be a good thing to do like Kristin's suitcase show But for people with natural hair. I think that would be helpful if not interesting.

MrsJShepherd1: Essence's hair looks so gorgeous after the salon, the stylists did such a beautiful job with the shaping and styling.

L.R. Red: As an adult I've gotten my hair professionally done twice. Neither experience was worth the time or money spent.

imarockstarification: This was misleading. She didn't go out totally unplanned. She's just being natural while in Vegas. I don't see the difference with if she goes to the salon before going or as soon as she arrives, specially in such a big city where she could make an appointment that fast in a salon specialised in curly kinky hair...

Renee Ocran: Is this gonna be a new series A struggle I can really relate to and would love to see more of this content only once it’s safe for people to travel again and the curve has been flattened. Stay safe everyone ✨

Paula Jean: I have such a hardcore hair obsession, I hope you guys do a ton more of these videos for me to binge!

Sprinkle of Serotonin: After this pandemic, I’m flying to Vegas to get my hair cut by her

Hanna V: This was such a great video! I am caucasian but I have super thick and curly hair, and there is so much pressure to straighten or change my curls. These women were so kind and knowledgeable about hair! I love how they are helping to inspire women to love their natural curls!

Jeanie Jean: Black women have been natural for centuries and I've never seen one with true knowledge of healthy hair growth purposefully comb through their hair/any curly hair while dry or unmoisturized. They were supposed to wet her hair pretty thoroughly, to see her true natural curl pattern, in order to trim where her ends were the most thin, uneven, or frayed..Also that pulling on her hair to shampoo, condition, and 3 people in her hair at one time?! Could've weakened her edges, nape hair, and root shafts. BuzzFeed didn't really represent the more kinky curly hair textures in the best light with this one. Gave me dingy-esque vibes, I'm hoping that was just an act on everyones' part just for the video views?. The most important part of being natural and embracing your true self; Is really knowing your hair, correct self care, and the proper way to take care of/grow your hair no matter what. Sending love and positivity to the ladies of this team and the bloggers....But it is disheartening to see their female commentators/bloggers, just go along with everything, and act peachy all of the time. Honestly, that experience would've weirded me out, having all of those errors occur. Then to have all those different energies massaging all up on my scalp...smh...lol..Kudos to her and the Vegas Style team for spreading love though. SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL NEW MUSIC&MORE UPLOADING SOON❤️✨

Megan Redress: I will never complain about how long my hair styling takes! My hair is long but mostly straight with a bit of a wave.

Mahalia Bazile: LOVE THIS! Honey, you slay, Honor hairstory while celebrating difference. Love Black hair <3

Aurora Sun: Your hair is so beautiful! Mad respect! Please make more videos for curly/wavy/coarse/difficult hair types! Essence looked not only amazing, but confidant and bold, love it!

Taylor B.: Looking for a stylist like her in my town! One thing I've missed since going natural is going to salon regularly and getting my scalp massaged.

Secundra Beasley: Thanks to Freddie, Essence and the AS/IS crew. Love this!!

Amna H.: The stylist was so chill ! Loved her !

KenzieHurlock: I have 1b hair, but when she said she never deep conditions I was shocked. Similar to my reaction at work when a middle aged woman with type 3 hair had never heard of curly hair products and was using purple shampoo on her brown hair because it "made her curls nice". I instanty recommended her something for her hair type. I work at Sally Beauty.

Mellissa Boomer of the Night: this just came on and I watched it, but I so love your hair...so very happy more woc and stylists are promoting woc to wear their own hair in a natural way. Hopefully things will finally take a turn promoting this.

Liane Reading: I haven't watched very many black hair style/hair cut videos before it was really interesting seeing how much work is put into getting their hair done. It was a really nice informative video gave me some insight into what my black friends go through to do their hair. Love Freddie from Ladylike and the other women Essence's hair style turned out super cute props to the hairstylist in Vegas.

Marz Cobia: I love the idea of this series so much!

Nicole Early: The only time I need more than 1 stylist working on my hair is for braids! Seeing 3 people on 1 head gave my tender-headed self anxiety.

Amarie: Yes ladies! Lets let our hair breathe for a change. Sometimes we just need to let our natural hair out and give it a break.

Keisha T: I love seeing a professional black hair salon

Crazy WoolLady: Love this video idea! Would love more of this!

Tanya Carrie: Combing 4c DRY and no even well moisturized bahaha no thanks. Ironically she said the damage happens at home, looks like there was damage happening there too

Sarah P: Freddie always looks so effortlessly gorgeous, I had no idea her hair involves so much work!

T.K.: never have I ever seen kinky hair (my own for example) trimmed in it's natural state while at the beautician

Indigo Ashanti: This title alone reeled me in. Having to do my hair on vacation takes so much time

Darkn_ lovely1: I can’t wait for my hair to be large enough to wear into a large full Afro. I’m so excited

Rachael Hickson: The 70's fro style suited her SO well!

Blyndeaf: Damn, this video made me wanna move to Vegas just so this lady can do my hair

Jessica: As soon as I saw this title I felt the struggle!Where my black girls at?

YourFriendlyNeighbourhoodVue: They all got beautiful hair, more black women should be taught to appreciate their beautiful hair instead of ruining it with perms.

Cinnamon Smiles: I had no idea how easy I have it with straight hair

Mary Bast: Essence, you look absolutely gorgeous!!! As soon as you said Diana Ross, I was like, yaaaaas, that is exactly the vibe I'm getting!! :D Glad you found someone in Vegas that worked well for you! :)

Laela Jackson: Shout out to the lady shampooing her hair for actually getting her edges. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a video of a black woman getting her hair washed and her edges are missed

lusanda ntintili: I've had dreadlocks for 16 years and keep fantasizing about having an afro and this video both scared and reassured me but my hair rn is definitely much easier to risk trips with

Ahjusshi _Brown: The only time I travel without doing my hair is when I go down to Jamaica bc that first day is set aside for linking up with family and getting my hair done

ashley ellzey: Now this is the content I love to see

kg: LOVE her hair shape and texture So beautiful

Janine Sellers: Hair is gorgeous! Makeup was everything for the performance!

Jocelyn Ruiz-Moreno: As a Latina, I have thick and curly hair, but nothing like this. I wish I did, though. Essence has such beautiful hair ♥️

sdooot x: the energy in this shop is unmatched

Jeannie Thompson: Obsessed with the final hair look! So good!

Phoebe Taylor: So basically this is a version of Kristin’s without a suitcase series ?!?

Lemuella Kotey: *THE AMOUNT OF BLACK GIRL MAGIC IN THIS VIDEO ALONE!* I'M SO HERE FOR IT

naturalcollegiate: My scalp is tingling just watching this. I miss other hands doing my hair.

Danea Speaks: I saw this title and said, “Oh nooo..I’ve done that before.” Literally went to Vegas without having my hair done lol

Olivia Salyers: As a white woman I am so thankful that 1. I know how to curl my hair with a hair straightener 2. I know how to straighten my hair with a hair straightener 3. I can throw a straightener in my suitcase and roll out

Anika Maier: My 3a hair already takes so much time. Kinky hair must be crazy to handle but I love it so much!

Savnut: I absolutely HATE figuring out what to do with my hair before vacation its exhausting

S: As a non curly hair girl, this is so interesting to me

Not Me: Look at Fredi taking up spaces!! Thank you for the content as/is !!!!!

Indigo Ashanti: The whole opening, Freddie was preaching

Cassie Turnbull: I'm a white girl training to be a hairdresser and can I just say... you women are so amazing! Where I am I don't think there is a lot of demand, so I haven't worked on natural hair, but I find the precision and the artistry amazing. I'm constantly reading and watching natural hair care stuff, with my barely 2C hair, because I find it so enthralling! I realise that so many people are really disrespectful, intentionally and unintentionally, so as well as talented you ladies are so patient! The versatility is mind blowing! No disrespect intended, all admiration!

Dolly: I’m obsessed with her hair! So gorgeous

WiseLinguist: This is a fire program. Well done!

Nati Eatsalot: I didn't know this was a series until now and I'm excited!

Carleen Peters: I love this. I love cocoa butter. When she said 'Are you tender-headed' I felt like I was among friends.

Amireer Baker: Omg she looks like a goddess! Loved this video ladies!!

Cynthia Harris: Her hair looks so luscious

dropsdelamiel: Bay bee! That shape!! That’s a perfect cut and it flatters your face beautifully

Rhea Nicola: I love this! I’m going to be moving to Vegas. I’m definitely going to look her up

JulsieGamerMove: I honestly really like their hair

Nasian Ahmed: jesus christ essence legit looks like a model without make up

Sarah-Marie White: Black Girl Magic ❤️

LondonJess823: Everyone’s hair in this video is amazing!

Joanna: I'm black but I've never seen multiple people washing one person's hair

T Pine: These stylists have such beautiful heads of hair!

Yaria Samavan Carlan: My daughters hair right there. So much learning going on.

Song Ki: Shrinkage be so damn disrespectful tho

Amara: I looooved this and the whole idea, and we definitely need more videos (it'll be a real gag if you come over to the UK lollll). Can the name Sisterhood of the the Travelling Flat Iron be shortened though. Cu that movie is a bit overused

Niamh Bailey: I thought that this video was going to be that they dont go with any hair products or items and they would have to find a shop that has what they normally use

DW.Harry: I don't know about you black girls, but I get nervous when someone of a different hair texture than mine (I have 4c) does my hair. It did come out bomb though!

Kristel D: Essence is gorgeous and her hair is beautiful. Now I missing my afro!

Júlia Kercsmár: Are you sure you wanna have 5 pounds of desert dust in your hair in 109 degrees? You guys are heros. Im caucasian. Had 4b hair down to my butt when i visited vegas in around june 15th 2017. It was 110 degrees. And the buildings reflected the heat so hard. It was many years ago so i don't remeber what part. But we were walking around between tall mirror glass buildings with high-end stores on tbe first few floors. I was in my shortest shorts and a tank top and i tought i was melting away. Interesting vid on how to care for natural c type hair though. Thanks.

Budleee Bazz: Love a good black girl magic hair moment, but the title shouda been Black Women Goes to Vegas to get their hair done. Also I amazed how low maintenance Essence keep her hair, just shampoo and leave on. Probably the second black woman that I saw on youtube with a simple hair regime. Also that salon looks like a very positive place to be in. Also the tips for straightening is nice

insert name here: Just casually mention that our girl was PERFORMING without much context ,,,

Jane Lee: UGH your hair is so so beautiful

BlackGirl Magic: Natural Hairstyles are the best for vacations.. twist, any style of braids, etc . Wigs too ladies lol

Melissa Hardin: The cut is great for your face shape. Looks great all natural.

Vayu Winds: her hair looks like a piece of cloud its so pretty

reanne: essence's afro is so pretty!!!

Aubrey: All of these women are so beautiful omg

J White: Love this video!! braids would be the perfect vacation hair thoo

akua baryeh: okay im done ive lived in vegas SO LONG and so many of my fav YouTubers come I JUST WANT TO SEE FREDDIE SO BAD AND SHE CAME TO VEGAS MY HOME AND I DIDNT EVEN KNOW IT
