Hi everyone and welcome to this tutorial on what I'm calling be hair slide bun now before I start, I just have to clarify what a hair slide is with regard to this tutorial. This, if you were to look it up on the Internet, would be classed as a hair slide. It'S technically. It'S called a barrette and you just sort of squeeze like that and it pops open. Now, although this is a hair slide, it's not appropriate for this style, because it's so narrow, then it's just going to get lost in your hair and especially if you've got long hair. Like me, it might work if your hair is shorter or thinner, but if you've got hair as long as mine, don't don't use it. What I'm going to be using instead is this hair slide. This is a hair slide that I picked up in Ireland and it's got a hair stick which pulls out like that and that's the reverse - and it goes through like that, and it will only go through one way or the other, which is a bit irritating, because If I want my not that way up, I have to put the slide in from right to left, which is, if I try and put it in from left to right it jams it won't go through. So it's got to be that way. If I want to go rights left that way right, this is a another variation. This is another one. It'S probably came from clothes accessories. Actually I think this one, because it's more flexible, it's it's not made of metal. I could put the stick through either way and that's fine. This is there. This is very captain janeway for those of you who are Voyager fans, some of season 3 of Voyager Janeway, wore these to jazz up her ponytails for that loss. Another example is this and it's it's more like a flexi 8. To be honest, I think, although I've never actually used a flexi 8 in that the stick doesn't come out all the way it remains attached so far. The purpose of the tutorial - I am going to use my Irish one and show you how to create the Sun, keep watching. Ok, so the first thing you want to do is to detangle as always and smooth your hair back into a ponytail in the center of your head. It'S got to be in the middle because the hair is going to go around the hair slide. It'S sort of a variation on the Chinese bun, so nice and central, and tie off into a ponytail. Okay part. Two take your hair stick and make sure that you know which way through the the rod will go without sticking put this bit over the ponytail slide. The stick through one side slide the stick under the bag of ponytail and through the other side like that, and you might want to put it down a little bit, so the design can be seen from the back of your head. Now you can just wearing your hair slide like this. It'S perfectly acceptable way of doing it, but we are going to fine it, and this is where the Chinese bun influence comes in, speak Motel into two pieces and wrap them around the hair slide. This is why it's got to be a big hair slide, because what you're going to do it's try and pull it. So it's underneath the design of the hair slide. Once you got all your hair in there, you can adjust the slide, and now I just need to pin the ends down so get your trusty pop hair grips um. These spinning pin just for the bottom, I'm gon na twist that all the way up to top. Well, just add a bit of security, and then I'm just going to use my ordinary hair grips to pin down any loose ends any stray bits for the sticking out and while I'm at it all I'll clip down my little flyaways as well. Okay, so I've got two hairgrips in the bottom doing the top and one at the front here just to take my flyaways, and that is it. That is your hair slide bun and I think it's a really nice way of showing off your hair accessory. I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial. I shall add a couple of pictures of the other hair slides to sort of show how they look and, as I say, you should be able to do this with a flexi as well. If it worked for you, let me know show me pictures, you know where to find me cheerio. This is the style with an average narrow barrette. This is what it looks like and, as you can see, although it does work because the barrette is so narrow, the detail of it is quite lost in all my hair, I think if you've got hair, that's shorter or thinner than mine, it'll work, a treat

MissCarrie: When I'm sporting a barret in a half-up, I often tend to do this hairstyle 'unconciously' while watching TV :-) Looks nice as well and holds without grips. P.S. Lovely dress!

Louise Anne Bateman: It's great for changing like that-- if I'm a work and have a half-up using a hairslide, and then find my hair gets in the way, I can easily bun the rest around the hairslide temporarily. Doesn't tend to hold without pins though ;0) P.S. Thanks! It came from the Monsoon sale and was a congratulatory gift to myself for losing some weight.

Jens Unique Nibbles and More: I'm excited about this, because I have a hair slide it's too small for the bulk of my hair but too slippery for a half up, so this is a great way to use it. Also I have some really cool barrettes but the metal hinges kind of eat my hair, and I'm thinking this bun would be a nice way to show them off without damaging my hair :)

Kat: Cool! I have that on my comp, too. I just didn't know so much could be done with it, because your video looks very fancy and beautiful! I just used it to edit my new video. I think I'm getting the hang of it.

Anie Pluto: I'm going to try the hair slide bun and, I love the one you have!

Leg over Lass: Wow i always thought we did the bun first then stuck it with the stick off to try this now

Genna Denton: Finally a tutorial with a hair slide! I am crazy about these things if u watch smallville Lana was always incorporating these really.cute hairstyles with those in them. Especially in season 2 and 3. If I were to send u some pictures could u do a tutorial? I can't figure out how do it.

Kat: Love the new video and I see you've taken full advantage of the new "post your own thumbnail" feature! Yay! May I ask what video editing software you use, and how much does it cost?

Louise Anne Bateman: I *love* the new thumbnail feature! I'm glad you like the video too. I used Windows Movie Player 2.6 for the editing. It comes free with most Windows packages (except 7) but can be downloaded free for those it doesn't come with. I've never made a video with a Mac or anything except Windows.

Valyeria's Corner: I just got a Captain Marvel hair holder and had no idea how to use it Thanks so much for this video! I suck at being a girl lol

Lisa Connor-Wacky: Thanks, I love the look of hair slides. Ut can't make them work for ponytails so hopefully this will work for me.

Anu Sharma: I really like that large chrome round barrette. Would you show me the link where I can buy it please ?

officialaisa: Thank you dear!

Stephan H: wow beautiful hair

patty Turner: this saved me i have a metal one and i didnt know how to use it
