Hey everyone Kayley your friendly neighborhood, hair stylist here and today we're going to talk all about how to take care of your hair at the beach or the pool., Because summertime can be a little bit damaging on your hair. I want to help you live your best hair life so that you can have gorgeous healthy mermaid hair every day of the year, and I want to help you especially know how to do that during the summer.. So, let's get into it. Number. One is actually give your hair a break from the pool, slash ocean as much as you can., Especially if you're going on vacation for a week and you're just living it up in the water and outside in the sun.. That'S awesome.. I hope you have a fantastic time.. Please take me with you., But while you're there, maybe just pick a day or two where your hair doesn't get in the water. It'll, just give it a good break from the chemicals or the salt and help it to be a lot healthier when you get home.. Also, if being a fully submerged swimmer is not your thing, then just don't put your hair in the water.. It will save you so much as far as damage to your hair or trying to rehydrate after the fact. I at least know for me. I don't care about swimming fully under the water.. It doesn't do anything for me.. So a lot of times I just don't get my hair in the water at all. Number two make moisturizing a habit.. Now I feel, like I say this in winter for winter's reasons, and I say this in summer for summer's reasons. In general moisturize, your hair.. It makes so much difference guys. Like if you wonder why your hair isn't shiny.. If you wonder why it's frizzy., If you wonder why it breaks easily. A lot of the time it's moisture. So moisturize it. I recommend a leave-in conditioner when you get out of the shower and I recommend a deep conditioner once a week.. I will link my favorite ones down below., But just in general, it's going to be a really good thing to add in in the summer, especially because salt dries your hair out, and goodness knows what all is in a pool., And that will not be great for Your hair. So when in doubt moisturize it. Glad we covered that. And just conditioner is probably not enough.. Here we go., I feel, like a lot of us use kind of a daily moisturizer for our face, but when our face is really super dry or it's been through it, it's been sun exposed. You pull out the extra stuff right. You pull out the mask the aloe, whatever your go-to is., That's what we're doing for our hair when we add in a leave-in conditioner or a mask., So moisturize your hair, ,'kay, Cool. And number three. This might be the most important do not leave salty or pool chemically water on your hair any longer than you have to.. I feel like the reasoning, for that is pretty obvious. The longer that you let things that can be damaging to your hair. Sit on your hair, the more damage they do.. Okay. So when you get back to your house, your hotel room, your whatever and you're all tired - and you just want to go to sleep for the night, stop yourself and jump in the shower first., Because your hair needs it.. I had a friend who went on vacation with, like caramel-y, slightly reddish, highlights and came back with teal ones as a result of leaving water in her hair and not washing it out.. So I'm going to save you all from the teal highlights and just tell you now rinse your hair. Glad we covered that.. Sorry guys, I'm real sassy about this, because I really care about it.. So I'm going to be real. So now that that's out of the way, let's talk about what you can do before exposure, while you're at the beach or the pool and after. Spoiler, the before category is the biggest one, because it is very important.. So, let's start with some stuff that you can do even if you're just going to be outside in general, whether you're getting in the water or not just some stuff, that you can do to help yourself out.. So the first thing you can do is protect your scalp.. A lot of you were actually telling me in the comments that you have experienced: scalp sunburn. I have as well. I don't know, which is worse accidentally running a hair brush over a sunburned scalp or the flakes that happen as it heals. In general. The way you protect your scalp is similar to the way you protect the rest of your skin.. You can use SPF you can use. A hat is pretty much your options.. Some ways that you can use SPF without gunking up your hair are one you could use a SPF spray like you use for your body. Spray, it directly on your hand and then use your finger to apply it to your scalp, your hairline anywhere else. That might be exposed, especially if you're wearing a hairstyle that has a very distinct part like pigtail, braids or anything that like.. But you can also do the same thing with a SPF face serum or even those little powder sunscreens that you use for your face.. You could use it as a powder through your scalp as well, and that can help to just add that prevention. You do want to make sure that, as you reapply sunscreen, you are reapplying to your scalp areas as well, and that should help a lot.. You can. Additionally, if you burn super duper, easily, invest in some adorable hats and scarves that will help to shield the sun's rays, even more.. The second thing that you can do, whether you're in the water or not, is protect your hair from UV rays.. Now this is something I have more recently become aware. Of., Essentially UV rays can damage the cuticle layer of your hair and that can lead to things like dryness, frizziness tangling.. It can lead to breakage if it's severe enough and if you have a specific hair color like a really cool fashion, color or red, or anything like that, it can fade a lot more easily with UV exposure.. So we don't want that.. The good news is that a lot of products do actually provide UV protection., I feel, like I see them all the time on the products that I own, when I'm looking at the benefits., So take a little gander through your hair care collection and see, if any Other products, you already have have UV protection and then use those., But if you need one they are available at so many price points at so many locations, so just take a little look., The ones that I personally use a lot are the Kristin Ess dry, conditioner. The Ouai memory mist and the Bumble & Bumble dry oil. In general. It doesn't need to be a crazy thing.. It'S just one extra little step, especially if it's a spray. You just spray it all over your hair. You're good to go.. It can just help to counteract any negative effects of a week in the sun. Okay. Now we move into the water-specific tips.. The first thing you can do is kind of fill your hair up with good water.. Essentially, you can just jump in the shower. Get your hair wet, you could grab a spray bottle, spritz your hair., Either way it helps to fill your hair up with water. That'S not full of salt or chemicals so that when you do get in the water, it's less likely to absorb all of those things. And then, in addition to that or on it's own, depending on what you want to do, I really recommend adding in an oil On top of it., Now, if you already have the damp hair, just add in some oil over it and that's going to help to coat the hair so that the good water doesn't get out and the bad water doesn't get in.. And it also adds a lot of moisture along the way.. So again, summertime is a drying time for our hair.. So this can be an extra way to get that moisture and shine back in. To save you guys from a really long list. I'M just going to link a lot of my favorite oils down below. I'll make sure to get a lot of different price points.. I mean it can be as basic as just grabbing some coconut oil from the grocery store or as fancy as Kerastase., Whatever you want. And then the very last thing that you can do before you head out to the pool or the beach is kind of a Protective style., If you've already got water and oil in your hair, you probably want to do something with it, rather than leaving it down. Unless you just want to go for the full, wet hair look., And if you can pull that off girl do it.. I have tried.. I cannot, But basically anything that you want to that, will keep your hair a little bit more together, so a bun, a ponytail braid, slash braids.. I think anything that kind of condenses the hair is a good idea, because that way, when you jump in the water, it's less likely to get tangled and it's less likely to absorb any negative things in the water, because when your hair is free-floating, it's like all These little individual strands that are much more susceptible than if they're all put together. And just a quick reminder of one of our previous tips.. If you air, putting your hair in braids, especially pigtail braids, remember the SPF on your scalp., Because I'm pretty sure that especially the back middle of your hair is not usually exposed to the sun, and that would not be a fun place to get sunburned.. Am I right Yeah, I'm right., I feel like the way I utilize this is to get my hair wet, put some oil in it and then I'd put it in a little top knot with a cute, scrunchie. Or I'd put it in a low braid and have A scarf either here or braided into my hair.. So that's all the stuff you can do before you get to the beach or the pool, and if you did all of them girl you get a gold star.. I definitely don't expect you to do every single tip, but I do like to give you all the options that I know of so you can make the best decision for your hair.. So that being said now you're at the pool or the beach. You're having a great time, what do you do now? Okay, we'll talk about it., So after you've jumped in the water, especially if you are swimming vigorously or if you're in the waves, I'm going to assume that your previous hairstyle might be done-zo.. I recommend taking it out and then putting in some leave-in conditioner, and then you can put your hair back up.. You can put it in a bun, you can put it in a braid, and the bonus of that is that it's probably going to dry in the sun you're going to have the sea salt all up into your hair when you're doing that, and then when you Take it down you're going to have gorgeous beach hair. Like the best way to get beach. Hair is at the beach. Or the pool conversely., But I have been using that leave-in conditioner tip since I was like middle school, maybe freshman in high school.. I grabbed my little Garnier Fructis leave-in and my hairbrush and my nice thick hair tie that still had the metal joiner on it.. You guys remember those. Why did they make those - And I put it all in my beach bag and I'd head down and after I swam around? I did that which was my first ever hair routine, because I didn't do my hair until college really. Shocking right. I know. It's done good things for my hair over the years., I mean I'm still doing it like I'm, not going to tell you how many years later. And then once you're done with the beach. If you're going to get food just embrace the beach hair., If it looks good down, wear it down., Especially if it dried in waves and you've, got the sea salt like normally, we use heat and products to create that, but you just did it with nature.. That'S pretty cool. Enjoy that just really embrace the beach texture. When you can. And let me just segue., I need to talk about this. Beach products. Just so, you know surf texture beach products, whatever they are meant to fake being at the beach. They're, not typically meant for using at the beach., Because they add in the salt and wax and texture that you get from being there.. So if you ever use a surf spray or a beach texture, spray and you're at the beach you've, just double beached yourself., I don't know about your hair, but my hair would not respond well to that.. Just wanted to throw that out. There. You can fake the beach or you can go to the beach.. You should not do both., Okay, so now after.. The good news is that the majority of the work is in the before.. So first thing: if you did go ahead and do the oil throughout your hair, you've added a leave-in conditioner. All of that, it's okay to shampoo, your hair to get all of that out, because you do still have all that moisture on there. So A. You need to get it out, but also B. Those oils are going to protect your hair from any shampoo being overly drying. On top of the pool that you've already had., I do recommend a micellar water shampoo, because those remove oils very effectively but they're, also very gentle.. There'S an Herbal Essences, one that I love and Kristin Ess has one that I love there'll, be a link below. Either way. I really recommend them because again, effective and gentle.. Now, if you didn't use oil in your hair or a lot of leave-in or anything like that, and you just went to the pool or the ocean, then I would actually skip the shampoo.. I would rinse my hair really well I'd, give myself a good scalp scrub, but then I'd just use conditioner to condition or wash my hair. You're, counteracting the alkaline that can come from the salt or the pool situation, and you keep from over-stripping your hair any more.. Overall, it can be a really good effect. If you do find that your hair gets weighed too much doing it. That way, add in the shampoo every now and then just to see., But in general I think a conditioner wash could be a good idea, especially if you're going to be on vacation for a full week. You definitely don't need to be using shampoo every single day unless you're using oil every single day, then you probably want to.. I do have two problem fix recommendations.. First of all, if you feel like your hair is getting really build-up-y and one way you can know that is that it doesn't feel totally clean after you've washed it or you notice that you're putting on a leave-in conditioner or something like that, and your hair's feeling Sticky, it probably means you've got build up on your hair and I recommend using a clarifying shampoo.. It just makes sure everything is squeaky, squeaky clean. Whenever you're using a lot of products on your hair. It'S good to do that every now and then anyway, just to make sure everything is good. I'll link a couple favorites down below, if you guys want to see, but in general that can be a good thing at any time of the year. But I do feel like especially if you're swimming in ocean water you've got a lot of stuff getting on your hair. So if you need some extra help, getting it clean, that's a good way to do. It. And second problem fix is if your hair turns funny colors from chlorine. My condolences., Even though I haven't had that happen, I have found a hair line that I really love for so many other problem fixes.. It has a very well-reviewed swim line, so I will link that below.. They have these little crystals that you mix in the shower and apply it to your hair.. I'Ve used their hard water ones, they're like blond-fixing ones and they're, very, very good. So I have high hopes for the swim ones as well. Again link below for you to check out if you need it. And those are my summer, hair care tips and tricks to help you and your hair live your best life. This summer., I hope you have some new stuff to try out, but just in general, try to stay conscious of your hair during the summer. Doesn't have to be an all-encompassing thing, just throw it a bone every now and then so that, while you are enjoying your Very wonderful vacation, zenned out state. You also know that your hair is doing the most., But if you guys have any tips or products that you think are great for the pool or the beach. Let me know in the comments below.. I love learning directly from people. What works for them., Especially if you tell me your hair type, because I always love knowing what works specifically for different hair, textures and styles.. So I'd love to hear that in the comments below.. But that being said, that's it for today.. If you enjoyed this video, please hit the like button to help support my channel.. Thank you for spending time with me and I'll see you in my next video. Bye.. Let'S go to the beach each. Let'S all get away. ( hums an upbeat song ), I'm extra saucy in today's video.. I don't don't know why., I'm just very opinionated., Always luxurious mermaid hair.. I know I want luxurious mermaid hair. I have to wear stranger's hair to get that

Kristin Hardin: Loved “Sassy Kayley” She was here to let us know she’s serious. Thanks for the tips! I literally need all of them. I always get scalp sunburn because I just forget that it’s a thing until I’m flaming for a week after ‍♀️ maybe these tips will help serve as a good reminder!

cloud cloudy: This girl explains hair better than any other hair stylist!

Dove Couteau: This is amazing!!! I am a diver, so I am in the pool ALL THE TIME, which has made my hair very damaged. I have been looking for a video like this for so long and will definitely be using these tips! ♥️♥️♥️

Alice Jones: A great hairstyle I use for swimming is a braided bun (it's so easy!) It does create a few flyaways after a while but otherwise it stays put. I have quite long, thick hair, so it also prevents my hair dripping down my back or other awkward places!

Shauni: Kayley: MOISTURIZE YOUR HAIR! My very dry hair: LISTEN TO HER AND MOISTURIZE ME! Me: I'm sure the rinse-out conditioner is enough..

Sadie McC: I've already been following virtually all the advise in this video, and after a month of swim team my wavy hair is still pretty darn healthy! So, everyone, listen to Kayley--she knows what she's talking about, especially washing without shampoo--I suggest mixing 1 part apple cider vinegar, 1 part water and 2 parts conditioner to make a chlorine-removing conditioner-cleanser-thing.

Yazaira Cruz: Kayley looks extra good in this video!!!

Vicky Coile: Can you do a video over scrunchie hairstyles for the summer please

Abi McGlone: The matrix sunsorials set does wonders for my long dry hair when in the sun and for the pool. I use the protective spray before exposure and then the shampoo and leave in conditioner. A bit on the pricey side, but is the only thing I've found which stops my hair from getting crispy after swimming!

Silvana Juarez: These tips are gonna be great for summer thanks Kayley! ❤️’s-Silvana

AndreaRenata Gomez: The fructis, brush and hair tie routine it's my entire childhood, thanks Mom for the tip and thanks Kayley for reassuring my hair routine for the summer

Kristen Holley: Yay! Thanks so much for doing this video! It's just what I wanted and so very helpful!

Abigael Schonewille: I'm living for the sassy Kayley!!! ♥️

Lisa Kudulis: I LOVE the Kristin ESS Line. I always use her leave in conditioner, and the take a little bit of her recovery balm in my palms and just apply it to the last 4 or 5 inches of my hair after it's towel dried. IT HAS LITERALLY SAVED MY HAIR. My hair has always been on the drier side, and moisturizing it has changed the game.

SavedSinner 03: Love the video! Perfect timing too, I'm supposed to go swimming tomorrow, and there are a lot of great tips!

lovestasiaxoxo: thank you so much for this video!! I am a lifeguard all summer long and I struggle with not wanting to wash my hair every day but also get the sweat and chlorine out of my hair!! xoxo

Heidi A.: This is so helpful!! I’m doing a two week surf camp with my cousins starting tomorrow!! We’re in the water about 7 hours a day!!

Vee R: When I was a kid I thought my mom was crazy when she would run my blonde hair under the shower head before she would let me swim but it always prevented my hair from turning green or having that really strong chlorine smell, I do it to my daughters hair now too! Gonna have to add in that oil type though!

Liz Clavell: When I was younger, my hair used to turn green when I went into the pool. My mom would get that out by mixing baking powder with warm water and massaging it into my hair. I would let it sit for like 10 minutes then wash it out in the shower.

Sam Lee: Thank you for the tips! I’ll definitely try out the oil or leave in conditioner one before the beach!

Serenity Araiza: me : kayley: MOISTURIZE me: *runs for the leave in conditioner* OKAY

passionateday: This is so helpful, thank you! I found this doing a search for my 9 yo bc she has super long hair and is on swim team and surfs so we need these tips

Alex S.: Thank you for those tipps! I’m happy to hear that I was doing it right exzept the oil to protect it. Could you talk about to much haircare? Found out a while ago that I was doing to much for my hair and that it got too soft (in that makes sense)

HilBG: your last video of your 20s and you're blessing us with all this wisdom??? I'm eager to see what 30-something Kayley brings!

Johanna Belle: Loved this video! Very interesting yet so funny. Great editing.

Rachel Law: Would be able to give us a tutorial on the "wet hair" look?? btw I love you so much and you're very talented!

Angela Faist: Great info I swim in a pool 5 days a week for fitness. I have long curly dyed hair. My hair is obviously very dry. I use a pre swim conditioner, a swim cap, I rinse within 5 minutes of getting out of the pool. I use a post swim shampoo once a week and condition my hair after every swim, deep conditioning about once a week. I use a leave- in conditioner daily. What else can I do to give it moisture, shine and body?

Emily Pope: My favorite shampoo that has really softened my hair and made it feel healthy is Garnier Fructis pure clean it has aloe Vera extract and in a pretty turquoise bottle. The shampoo has good leather but not too much with helps my hair to not get tangled in the shower and the conditioner is so so creamy and feels so nice. It’s really changed the health of my hair. I used to use my moms shampoo ( herbal essences volume) because that’s just what she used so I used it too. But I just went off the fact that the garnier fructis lookednkimda healthy and it smelled good and it has really worked! My hair used to be really dry and frizzy, but now it so smooth and soft and healthy with minimal frizz. I put on my conditioner and honestly a ton of it then I continue with other shower things (about 3 minutes) then I comb through it and rinse my hair and all done! My hair also doesn’t get as tangled!

Lily Huang: As a lifeguard and swim instructor, I can assure you that the pool has a lot of damaging chemicals. Coconut oil really helps a lot for both skin and hair!!

The Rippress: I have super fine hair that has ringlet curls/ super defined waves that don't like to stay cute. The bumble and bumble UV spray is great for UV protection and it doesnt weigh down my curls. I can tell its working because my naturally blonde hair hasn't gotten any lighter and the bright red I add doesnt fade as fast as it has previous summers.

torisaywhaat117: Can you do a video on how you do you hair like this from beginning to end, without fast forwarding ? I have a similar hair texture to you and would love to get my hair to look like this!

Anais De Los Rios: Love this video ❤️❤️❤️Super helpful for my upcoming vacation. What are some cute protective hairstyles for the beach/pool???

Elizabeth Yates: This was THEE best hair advice!! I'll be putting oil on my hair before the ocean from now on!! And also wetting it before ! Total hair genius!

Elizabeth B: Yesssss! I needed this for the summertime!!

Anaid Mendoza: I’m going on vacation to Mexico where the humidity is very high, what sort of products do you recommend I use when over there?(: Ps, love you and your tips are super helpful!

Bri Holder: I have a similar hair type to you and I've been following your tips and tricks as well as sending your vids to my family that shares my hair type My hair hasn't looked better. Thanks for the instant glow up!!

Jessica Islas: Definitely running the brush over the scalp sun burn!

gara21co: I need a tutorial for that makeup!!! Amazing!! Thank you for the video!!!

Kayla Cook: GIRL YOU LOOK AMAZING you look so bronze and glowy and your hair looks incredible omg

Ginger mermaid: I have red hair and in the summer it lightens so much but my my favorite UV protection is sun bum 3 in 1 leave in helps so so much

Liana Powley: Amazing video as always, Kayley! :-)

lumosnox: I already do a lot of this stuff, I’m so proud of myself

Rachel: uhm...I need a tutorial on these curls!!

Ashley Keller: Your hair looks gorgeous in this video

Devin Harris: I love your hair in this video!the little extra wave is beautiful.

Yeliz Sari: Thank you for this video ! It was much needed !

Heidi Bowie: Soak your hair should have been tip #1. I swam on a swim team for years and never had issues when I drenched my hair before going into the pool or ocean! My friends didn't have issues, either. Rinse before and after every experience!

Olivia Casalinova: Thank you for this video! I love your videos and it helped me because I have long curly hair and I am a competitive swimmer.

A&H Tillery: You look absolutely adorable in this video. Could you do a tutorial on how you did your hair in this video?

Noemi De Francesco: Sooo helpful OMG!

Jamie: This was just the video I needed! Girl how did you know? ❤️

Cinderfire: I put my hair in a bun and leave no parts in my hair. Also always apply and reapply a special conditioning protectant. I rinse after ever swim and reapply the treatment. Every.....single....time. Cb several times in one pool trip. My hair is soft and tangle free every time. It works I’m telling you. Also a jar n shades. Always. The holy grails

Courtney Mermaid: Every pro mermaid just chuckled at the “take a break from the water” comment hehe! Great video and solid tips!

Larissa Jen: My hair is fine, long, nasty no style hair - *lol* that’s why I watch your videos. Thank you for your tips!

Belles Brunette: Literally my hair is so dead from the pool so this is perfect.

Sara Dabjan: When i go to the pool or sea i sleep with olive oil the day before then wash my hair without shampoo put conditioner all over it then go to the pool And right before getting it i wet my hair with normal tap water

Lisa B.: Could you please do hairstyles for the swimming pool ‍♀️‍♂️

Ana Lorena: Kayley getting sassy over haircare is a MOOD

Ashley H: Ohh! this made me nostalgic. When I was little my grandma would always tell me to get my hair wet under the pool rinse shower things before i got in, then rinse my hair after I swam to make sure my hair wouldnt turn green XD I always got those shampoos that were meant to be used after swimming to wash away chlorine, I wonder why you never see adult versions of those at the store. Meh, i still use the kid ones anyway XD never too old for cute shampoo.

Amanda Reddick: Kayley! I have a question, I live in Canada so we mostly have beaches that are lake water so no salt! Would you still do the same hair care? Whenever I go to my cottage I feel like my hair is always softer when I wash it in the lake! But could the water still be doing damage? Also thank you so much for the SPF on the scalp tips cause I just got a bit of a sun burn on my scalp and it’s sucks!! Thank you!! Love your videos

Duda Wanderer: This is super helpful! I’m going on a month long camping safari, so I won’t be able to do all of these things, buuuut I am picking up some coconut oil as soon as I land. That and biodegradable shampoo and conditioner will be it for a month! Wish my new balayage blonde luck . Any tips are appreciated!! ❤️ I am travelling with carry on luggage only, so I’m limited in liquids and sprays. I’ve got wavy, thick dark hair with a flaky scalp and blond highlights.

Annita Hayward: You're fantastic and so are your tips!

jesoneluv21: Does adding oil to your hair and going in the sun damage your hair or burn it like it does to the skin?

Missy Wolf: I’ve heard of people putting on a hair mask before going to the pool (when not submersing their hair)... what are your thoughts on that. And letting the sun really heat it up and help the hair absorb it. Good idea,or crazy?

Stephanie Lynn: Sooooooo helpful! Thank you!

Cas Bolson: I forgot to add sunscreen to my part when I did rope-braid pigtails... It was horrible. My go to is usually a French or Dutch braid so my scalp isn't exposed, plus my hair is LONG so leaving it free is a no go. If you have layers some hair can come free and you can either fix it or embrace the boho vibe, and after it dries it's wavy and pretty for styling. I've even done a French braid and then put the braid into a bun and it works so well.

Weirdo: Aveda Sun Veil is one of my favorite summer hair products!

whistlen away55: I just recently returned from a beach vacation last week I used Kristin Ess hair milk oil the whole time, ( before the beach, and after showering after the beach) my hair LOVED the moisture and I got the cutest natural beach waves. I miss the beach

Eva Crombach: I’m a natural blonde and my hair turned green last year from the pool. I read on the internet that ketchup would help get the green out, it sounds really weird, but it helped.

Uroob Sharique: loved it so muuuch and sis the waves are A LOOK

SoraNowhere: Just rinse all over or go take a quick shower and get the salt/chemicals of your entire body. And moisturize all over, your hair, nails and body will thank you. Btw I have curls (They look like I have a perm, but is just the result of my mom being white and my dad being black) and argan oil works wonders with my hair. I have this hair mist (Yes, like a face mist, but for your hair) with argan oil that I use when my hair is super dry between washes and then I use deep conditioning every single time (I wash my hair twice a week) that and I have started to get my hair trimmed every 4 month cause well, I wanna grow it out after I had a straight perm for two years so.

S Staton: I love this! Would you possibly be able to do a demo? I’m a visual learner ❤️

Grace Bobel: Thank you, this is so helpful

Rachel Goonan: How did you do your hair?!?! it is perfect for summer!

Caroline Childers: I always wash my hair after the ocean or pool, I cant stand the smell let alone leave that stuff on my body

Lilly Hayworth: My hair type is dry, bleach damaged, yet somehow shiny and healthy looking. But the pool does a number on it! I have found that using straight up citrus juice kills the chlorine. So immediately after swimming in a pool my hair will start turning green, so I put straight up lemon or lime juice all over it after shampooing, then shampoo again, and I condition the heck out of it. Then I go in with a hair oil once it’s towel dried.

Mary Treaty: I am allergic to chlorine so i rarely swim in pools, because a lot of them have a lot more chlorine than i can handle. I usually swim in lakes/large ponds which a lot of people find gross, all you have to do is shower, but its so cool to swim with the fish(one time i caught 5 fish bare hands,we ate good that night). Ive been to the beach once with my grandpa at 4(it was the last thing we did together before he died. My grandma always takes my siblings and cousins to the beach and not me because she hates me. She's made excuses like she didn't want to lose me when i was little and now that I'm 17 it's because im not 21(my siblings and cousins are mid 20s to 30) and she doesnt want me to feel left out by not having alcoholic drinksNEWS FLASH GRANDMA i feel left out not being able to go

Laura_W: Can you make a video about short beach or pool hairstyles

Kara Partridge: Greatttt tips girl! Love them!!!

Kathy Juarez: Im so glad I saw this video bc I was ready to buy a beach spray for my tropical vacation AT the beach

MsSemki: Thanks! These are great tips!

Savannah Romaine: Alright, I occasionally get this problem with my hair. I'll get out of the shower, let it air dry a little, put in sun bum 3 in 1 leave in a and a little sun bum argan oil, and blow dry it. Then when I'm done, it looks like I have dandruff on my forehead and scalp but only near the the front. What's going on with my head?

Emma R: You helped me so much thank you this video is great ❤️❤️❤️❤️

e batdorf: Have you ever gone somewhere so humid that your hair never dried? That was my experience in Cozumel last summer. Now that I know about humectants, I would switch up my products, but I don't know if that and the shea build up is what did it or if my hair was just going to stay wet in a place where people are constantly perspiring.

Celeste Stratton: Supergoop, a sunscreen brand, just came out with a powder that is a scalp sunscreen. PLEASE REVIEW IT KAYLEY!!!!!!!

F K: Can I still use a clarifying shampoo with recently bleached hair? My hairstylist said not to because of the damage..especially not drugstore products but my scalp is getting greasy Thank you for the video :)

Samantha Richards: Do you have any tips for swimmers? I'm in the pool 5 days a week plus activities with my family, I'm so scared that my hair which is really soft and moisturized now, but I can feel it kind of drying out.

Minnie Fawcett: I really enjoy your informative vides. love you Kayley xoxo

Jules: Hey Kayley! Quick hair question- is it damaging or bad at all to use shampoo and conditioner for dyed hair...even if mine’s never been dyed? (Long story lol) Thanks!

Kayla Blaze: Could I double shampoo in place of a clarifying shampoo?

Lozza Ren: In Australia we have UV/chemical hair masks that you put in your before you go into the water - if you can’t afford that we just use the classic “wet your hair with fresh water before going into the damaging water”

MeiZ Ink: Love your curls in this video. Can U do a organization tip on hair clips and other stuffs? Can really use some inspiration.

Mo O: Thank you!! I needed this!! Love you!

Christy Boyle: Golden goddess eye look! Would love to know what products you used for the makeup look

Carla Bosch: This may be a stupid question, but: wouldn't an oil be bad for your hair if you are going to expose it to the sun? I've always been afraid that it would "fry" it (?) I love these tips though and will definitely be using them! ❤️

Chantelle: Could you please do surfing hairstyles that would withstand the waves this summer? X

Emily Hansen: Loved this vid! Too bad it came after I spent time at the pool last week, lol. Oh well, they were great tips.

Catherine Cross: My hair actually bleached and went lighter a few years ago and I've avoided the pool ever since

julia becker: As a sailing instructor I live in salt water wether it be spray from the powerboat or swimming with the kids I find I don’t have time to fix my hair during the day and that I have to wash it everyday between the salt water and sweat it just feels disgusting. I discovered the herbal essences Mercela water shampoo from one of your videos a few years ago and it’s amazing with the salt water with out drying to much. I try not to wash my hair on my day off to try and help as well. Once or twice a week I’ll put a bunch of oil in my hair and braid it and it does make a difference I have thin but wavy frizzy bleached hair so oil is great. I used to bring a leave in conditioner for days I do a pony tail but stoped for some reason I should start bringing that again

helena: when putting oil and 'good' water in your hair, do you have to put it on all of the hair (tips included) or just focus on the scalp?
