Misconception Of Black Women & Weave

http://twitter.com/sweetaddictions

Hey sweetie the sugar candy, and this is good and you're watching sweet addictions, TV yeah - and this is the video about when and weeds, are the misconception now. As you can see, I have taken mine out just for this video, okay, there's mom, so cuz a lightweight stem from is I ask: do i I sought a cut okay that I liked and of course I was going to cut my hair because just in case I didn't like it, you know I was gon na use, we've cut it and see. If I liked it and someone came and said no, you need to wear your natural hair. Why are you trying to be someone you're? Not but women from Atlanta are a hood rats anyway, when it comes to that or something like that - and my thing is this so because I want to, I would have got weed to cut it just to make sure I like to cut before means, I'm trying To be something, I'm not and a big misconception to me when people look at black women and weave is oh, they got it because their hair won't grow. Now, my hair is nothing longest pop okay, but if you see I do have some length to my hair. Okay, men, when I can't weave it's because I like to do different styles, you know I'm saying like cuz, my hair comes about where's that I want it snug to the middle, but like almost to my bra, strap right here. It'S not I'm not wearing weave, because I don't have hair underneath is because I like to change. Yeah yeah y'all know everybody who's new, like any. Every other video you guys new. I like to change my hair, do different things. I may not necessarily want to have it as a permanent cut or a permanent color. So I'll use leave to do that. But then there are people who can't grow their hair, who need weave, are used weave to feel better about himself. That does not mean that they do not love themselves. Are they want to be something that they're not? And another thing is: when people we that's all they think of, is black women baby? What do you not understand that the men on your money, I'll have all the wigs Peter? How long ago that was see ya white man been rocking wigs for the longest, but when you look at black women all of a sudden, even if she has some type of link to your hair and it's hers, you still think it's weak. You know there's white women who get ponytails put down in the middle of them all Jessica, Simpson, Britney, Spears, Jessica Alba. Well, I'm right, but now in LA and they'll get it to get full. But do you hear their hood wrecks because they wear we they're trying to be something they're, not because they wear weave? No, but soon as a black woman? Does it I'll go bracelets? Oh, I know Briggs unless I wan na. Thank them. I pass it on along and my thing is this. I think I heard it right when that movie good hair came out when I forgot her name, Regina King and the lady asked well, why did y'all get perms? She said? Well, why did you color your hair? It'S the same thing with one black women, even with black women who are natural, it not all level. The week when we first started, like I said the first eight months, my hair was natural, weave no crimes, no nothing. That was our here. No, we even know anything, but we had people. Remember a girl who came at us talk about why yeah y'all got weaving yeah, I'm not proud, but then we don't have channel that she had braids extensions. Oh that's different. Those are individuals, get the hell out of your fake hair period and they ask well why, wouldn't you feel proud to have this in front of that? But it's like some people need it to manage their hair. You know just because if we do, we both have perms before you know we're gon na get it out of it. You know that doesn't mean we're not proud to be black. That'S just like when you look at a white woman and her hair was brown, but now it's blonde. Does that mean she's not proud to be white? Sounds stupid right? No, she just got her here, but you mean she's not proud to be white. Okay. Well, we just put a bomb in send me so but buried or not proud to be black and need to be proud of what what kinks and I hate it, what the hell! You know man came to get a lot of heat when we do stuff. Like change our looks up and stuff like that, um she touched on hair color and you know you all know like likes it. First, I don't know how many months we were on my hair. It was not, as I did my hair in February, so I'm a full month strong, my hair was black. Okay, then, on top my hair, like towards in February, think blonde all of a sudden I'm trying to be white right. Okay, now I dyed my hair blonde, not because I was trying to be white, but because I wanted to change same goes for me. Getting a perm for a very, very, very long time I was natural um in case you didn't know about me. I get a relaxer okay from the. We call it once a year that, sometime in the summer months, when is hot and humid and her hair gets frizzy. Now we all notice a lot of products for natural hair to control the frizz and all the dumb stuff. But I decided to go the easy way relaxer and do what I want to do with my hair, not because I wanted to be white. Oh what you know. I was trying to be white because it made my hair a little bit easier to manage. That'S it at the end of the day. I really don't feel like me and can't even need to explain what we do to our hair and why but we're doing this video because of a couple of people that jump get it well. You know it's Tim for one person, but you know must back you know we catch come on heat on certain things. You know and like I said at the end the day we do certain things I hear because it's convenient period you know one video, I told you, I really don't do we and I don't, but I did put it in my hair because, like one time we Had a bit show twice, we had an event to go to you. Just look it easier. You know a lot of people don't want to keep putting heat on their hair. A lot of people don't want to keep putting chemicals in their hair. No, they don't have to do that, but they want to do it because it makes it easier to manage so the we may put a we go whatever you want change it up. Just like that, give your arrest and that's why I that's that's what the reason why I wear weed because see I don't like to keep putting heat on my hair, see when you got on weave. You can curl it every day about great. You know: Ian's! None of that cuz why you can cut it off, but you can take it off the bosom alone and, like we stay on the go, so it's so much easier like what we've, if you have weave in you, don't even really it could just be straighten. It looks done you know, here's my Empire straight. I need it done. It looks like it needs to be done. Your fan, but have you been weave? It would have had a little thickness. Oh and you know lock. That would have been good. So you know that's why I started like on my end. That'S why I wear weave, because I like to give my hair rest. Okay, how I give my hair rest from the curling and the because you know without being natural cuz, like I said she gets like one primer a year. I think you said I get like two. You know I get wanted me out of here and I get one towards the middle cuz. Then during the winter I just let it be muumuu, never happy. You know, cuz go but a lot of people. We call it a lot of slack. Like I said, with the first eight months, we started sweet addictions, who's, our natural hair and then we hit within we got hit with you. Have we yeah? We got you got weeds, we know that's, we you got, we tease, but then, when I put weave in tracks, then it was you anyway. What do you know and there's a lot of people who need it to feel good about themselves like I don't care what you say you could have on a bad outfit, but if your hair is not right, come on women, you know, even though, but let you Get that hair done baby and you fill in it. You know it's not to say I am my hair, it's to say that you like, when you look nice when you look good and not even with natural women when natural hair, you like it when your hair just read, you know if you've got that front is Just right and you got the trans and they are milking or anything ready, yeah you like it. What it's just right solve that preference hello to say to look at black women and call them hood red because they wear weave and tell them that they're trying to be something that they're not! Is so ridiculous to me. Because when you look at a white woman - and she has in extensions down to here or if you look at Kim Kardashian and them think it works, did I even Courtney Courtney? She went to the hard to get out extensions done. You know, but when you look at them you don't you automatically think that's their hair. You don't think twice about you, don't think twice about it. I could show you our picture when I was 20 mine was here before I went to Germany and headwater, took it all out shaft, but people always thought it leap all the time, I'm pretty sure picture right after you, hey Avery, when I see at the bubbler At the table we have a rolana think he probably thought that was leave too. I mean really. I don't have like before we started doing video like it's a totally different Bob and we put yourself out doin Street. You know I'm saying when you're not doing videos if you're not in the public eye, you can do whatever you want to don't matter. You know, but this is kind of still new to me because I feel like why do I have to sit here and explaining you what my preference is with me? You know I'm saying and I want to touch on something yeah. It'S totally left where we're at in the day is the same thing: what about people they lose their hair or don't have here because of something and they go Beweave. Does that make them well? Do they want to be something that they're? Not you know, I can speak on something my mom. She had cancer, she died of cancer, but she had to get chemotherapy lost. Her hair lost it. She put away, though, because she wouldn't look a little bit more presentable. I mean just think you grow your hair. Thick pretty something happens to it: it's gone women, women, you know, we love our hair. Even if you choose to cut it off, you want to get faded up. That'S your choice. What your line! If you lose your hair, it is beyond your control and you want to go add something to enhance your pictures. It does not make you want to be something. You know it doesn't mean that you know and you're trying to be something that you're, not because it's not it's not the case when I dyed my hair by when I dye my hair red, I did because it was a preface I wanted to change. I like to change it. My look too we're not cutting my hair. That doesn't mean that you know where was the white hairstyle? What was that mean? I don't want to sing. I just I don't understand how women, okay, your natural hell, I'm about to be natural again, oh my about to be natural because I haven't had a perm since June, but that does not mean that I'm gon na talk bad about the next person that decides go. Get a damn relaxer, oh you're, trying to beat now it's a preference. We said that was the hair, stop again preference, no with the big guy who liked the brown Nebraska lice kid okay, but it's a preference yeah and also just touch on it. Like my stepsister. Sorry, oh my god, their hair was so thick, like probably just a handful. Their hair was thicker than my hair and her put together and it was long and wavy and so gorgeous and later on. She she had alopecia, hmm, it all fell out everything her eyebrows. They ever had everything, and you know at first she tried the wig. Thank you did like it. So now you know we just bought a bunch of she's got a different. Color scars go with all her outfits, and so she tried and she didn't like it. Okay, but what if she did like it, so then she's trying to be something she's, not I don't understand and make her I'm white right right, because the basis stamped it was a really short haircut that I was talking about getting in it was you know, you You'Re, a hood you're, a hood rat. If you do that and you're trying to be something you're not so if I were to cut my real hair in that same style, but I have still been trying to be something I'm not. But you know what was funny is when she told me about the situation, the conversation, this person even added, and then you had to go, find white woman right because the hairs the I was on, I was on a white woman. What'S that have to do with the hairs, I think you know a lot of it and y'all got access a lot of crazy, like I said, double standards. If you seen right now, if, if we had three women in front of us, one was black. One was white and maybe one wasn't was Asian and all of them had hair down their back and we said which one has weave. I can carry the white one will pick the black girl and they'll say: that's not right, you know and well yeah. You know. Damn well, they would all pick the black girl and, contrary to popular belief, there's a lot of black woman with long hair that there's no weave in it. But even if people where we dead doesn't mean anything everyone today, mama wears weave, but within my before. Maybe not you know, but 95 % of folks in all races have tried. So we buy clip-on, ponytail us and things let's get together. I want to ask something: even with weed you can get short ass hairstyles with week. You can get quickly, we could be short, but does that mean that? What does that mean that you're? Not that's? What'S everybody, I'm I'm all hair cut that way, because that me feel mean, since it was that same cut. You know that still mean I'm trying to be something. I'M not people need to give together. Man are, you know, is this crazy? It really need a sanded like I really don't I mean, and this day and age we still think that any black woman with long hair means weave, but anybody else you wouldn't think twice about them. Having a weaving a help me come out even with quite need from counter-daesh away, I was gon na hear. Nickname was here, nobody even come on, get it together, get it together like every every pop diva. You know. Has we a good read? I don't think so. I mean I don't understand, oh well, according to the way that they came with and you were weed you're illiterate. I guess be on Facebook and read. I got, I guess up it's stupid, like it doesn't make sense to say that only black women, where we even were hood Rhett's, because we do get it together and I know there's a lot of things that we've missed on this, because we're just trying to go On off the top with it, but I know there's a lot of people who have touched on it. You know Atlanta sister, I know she's natural, some other people who has something to say about this. Please make a video response and post it under this video, because we would like to hear what other people have to say. Even if you're our man and you feel like women are black, women are hoodrats because they wear weave and all that post. Your response. Let'S, let us hear why you think that now it may be your intention at you, if you're a man, you don't want to date, a woman who wears weed. That'S fine, but there's a lot of women who do even if there's a piece here, a piece there to make it a car. You know whatever the case may be it's there and not only black women. Do it that's what y'all need to get to y'all head quit profiling, black woman as old Z, they just where we cuz there's a Rex in this when the the white lady on occasion, lady, had a Hindu in that just walked past you probably has a head Full of a chip - it's okay for them, but it's not a white man get a toupee. Oh, oh, oh! No, the white man. Does that mean he wanted to pay because he's trying to be something that he's not oh, he's gon na be something he's not, which is what please please. I mean I really want your comments on the air man sweeties. I will cha to write down all in my bag. A couple points to the situation: I've seen men with weaves when they get breaks yeah. If it's too short, they think it is sticking out they're making longer thicker. Does it make them something that they're not Waverly? Show me why cuz, I guess even what be sky he did since when we even heard, even though he's been mixing hair long hair he's gon na pop some weaving their realness, so it is come on man, let's get it together. Like I said, I really want to hear what the man have to say, because the comments stem from being a man when it came to me that I was a hood rat and because I wore weave and then I'm trying to be something that I'm not. You know, and he get it together, let's get it together. So please women too. I would like some of my natural sisters, the right you know to put some things in that we may have missed. You know people my women who do use relaxers like even now. People would say that we have, I haven't, had a perm. What did I get weave in August, Parsons obvious? But people wouldn't think that it's called golden hat ceramic flannel, but Superman get into you're not supposed to do this Masum holes to straighten your hair regardless and use chemicals or a fan on because you're trying to be something that you're. Not you want this bit long. Stringy hair so you're trying to be somebody or something that you're not understand that. Okay. Okay, please please! We want responses, whether you agree with us or not, it's cool. We still. We want to hear because we made you know if you agree, I mean if you disagree, what we're saying and you can you give your points then we may be like. Oh okay, we never thought of it. That way. Yes, nothing to wear, maybe we're missing something. If you agree, you know, write down, you know certain things we miss. We would love to hear it. Definitely if you agree with the gentleman who said women who wear weave, I heard Rex and they just trying to be something that they're. Not if you agree with that, please tell us why you think. That'S the truth. I mean, I know something y'all gon na say because you know you know it's just back in the day when our skin was thought to be bad, our kinky hair was, you know, thought to be bad, so we wanted to emulate the Caucasian, and all that I Know something I'm gon na save it, but we're talking about right now, right right now. We know why it was for like that in the beginning, we're talking out right now, because you could say even if you say that at the beginning, it still even everybody else of different races. You do the same thing and it's not that old. Any same thing. I'M gon na do it too. It'S just that, like she said some people they needed to be managed. Well, they just want to change they just wanna change, which at night are you like like, and I can put myself in those shoes right every other day. I only got some different, I'm having different in a couple weeks. It may not even be a couple, maybe next week you know, but this discipline. What I want to do it's my money. If I want to spend some money and get a different hairstyle, but get it weaved cuz, i don't want to click mind. I just want mine to rest and i want to quit the flat iron and things like that. That'S my business. That doesn't mean I want to be something I'm not mm-hmm. That means I have the way to do it. Look I want to do it, you can do it because it's my body is your boss, mine, it's hers. Yes and it's yours. You can do what you want to do to you, you and you you over there how you doing talking to you in the person behind you, Hey so y'all make sure to post. In response, we would love to hear what we may have missed. What you agree with what you disagree with, we would love video responses, but if you can't do the video you know, write your comment and there's a lot of people to get your little hit. A lot of people say all candy. I couldn't fit all this in. One comment is what you do you do you come in, you posted, didn't you reply to yourself, so it goes up under and you can finish what you got ta say. Yes, indeed, look tidbit, you learn something every day. Yeah, are we hi sweeties insulins, as always thanks for watching and tell a friend to tell a friend to tell a friend yes subscribe, and I want to shout out all the new sweeties who coming and especially the ones that's been doing your research? I can tell those new cuz y'all: go all the way to the beginning. Y'All leave a comment on my video, so we appreciate that and there's two people's birthday today, let me shut them out heavy weight, uh H s, G 56, happy birthday and Queenie. What'S up baby, it's my birthday! Is she watching your? Do i age I'm trying so hard? Alright, y'all, I'm ready for all the spots. Okay, hmm

Teedy247: Thank you candy and skittle for this video. I agree with every point you made in this video. There are so many misconceptions out there about this subject, I think this video was a needed segment ; hopefully it will clear up some of those misconceptions. I myself look at wigs, weaves, etc as an accessory and think that it is used to enhance the beauty one already possess; much like make-up or jewelry and I see nothing wrong with using these accessories.

mispinkblac: I have been struggling with my hair since I was a little girl, breaking combs, crying through my hair being combed and braided. I am now almost 22 and I still have hair issues even though its thick and long and I get it done every 3-4 weeks like clockwork. I say this to say that perhaps weaves (for some people) are used as a mechanism to not deal with their hair issues. Im dont feel that way but it is plausible. I love your channel.

Tinanicole: I just want to thank you for doing this video , i wear weave and i love everything about being black (i wouldn't want to be any other ethnicity ) . I really hate when people make this misconception .And to add i wear my natural hair out just as much as i wear weave .

ichoose2bhappy: Thank you for posting this video. I think it just needs to be said because so many people want to judge black women and everything we do. So now these people have an answer. Self hate encompasses the whole of who a person. I think it needs to be said that since the pressing comb was invented people have been saying black women aren't pretty or beautiful. Some black women believed this crap but, most of us didn't. We will always know who we are and express this in any way WE deem fit.

Felicia B.: THANK YOU for posting this topic! I really want to share my story in case there are other women out there who think they are alone....... I, too, wear weave. My reason was out of necessity. I suffer from alopecia. About 3 years ago, my natural hair fell out to the point I could no longer hide it with clip-on ponytails. Someone at work (a white woman) even asked a friend of mine if I was a cancer patient!! I was MORTIFIED!...

lwebb7800: I have a nice length to my hair, but, I am still a WIG QUEEN ! I LOVE being able to have those different options. I have rocked the extremely short damn near bald look and I have (now) grown it back out. Anyone can do what they choose with their own look. Good gracious, some folk just always need to say something about something. STOP hating and just start loving and supporting folks choices. If you don't like then don't "YOU" do it, but don't hate on others who choose different.

Liv Kin: I couldn't stop laughing at 2:18 when you said "The men on your money all have on wigs!" It was just the way you said it that made me laugh. I have noticed a lot of contradiction when I talked to other people. Other races can wear weaves without criticism but when black women do it's a problem. At times I get questions about my hair. Sometimes I wonder whose business it is what I do with my hair. You both speak the truth. Great video.

J. Blue: Great video ladies :) Keeping educating these folks!

Felicia B.: Mind you, once I first got my weave, I then didn't know how I would explain this to men. And in the "heat of the moment" I didn't want my man to try to pull my hair and both of us get embarrassed! LOL But what I've come to figure out is MOST MEN DON'T GIVE A DAMN! I still have a hard time explaining the alopecia to them, but telling them I have weave has become MUCH easier. Anyway, I hope my story helps someone out there to become more comfortable about weave and/or alopecia. You are NOT alone!

Natalie Brown: I will say that when I got my hair braded into box braids I was accused of being a "whigger" and that I only got the braids cuz I wanted some black man to like me. That was utter BS, I just wanted to get braids. Braids were so cute. But NEway, there is too much drama over hair. It's freaking HAIR!

Brittney Washington: i perm my hair all of the time. yet it's still healthy. i'm glad you ladies made this video because i hsve been having a problem with what people have to say about me perming my hair. I damn sure don't do it to look white, i do it for convience. not to mention my hair is very thick so putting a comb through my natura form is painful.lol. don't get it twsted i still wear braids but i like to perm my hair, not because i want to be white but because i fucking like it on me.

Arie C: I love this video...I wear my real hair, I rock wigs, sew ins, partials....however Im feeling determines what hair I may be wearing that day!! I love the versatility and variety of weaves!! Haters and can kick rocks!!

Arie C: I love this video...I wear my real hair, I rock wigs, sew ins, partials....however Im feeling determines what hair I may be wearing that day!! I love the versatility and variety of weaves!! Haters and can kick rocks!!

Ashleychanelol: this is EXACTLY how i feel too. i made a video about it along time ago. i might see if i could use it as a response video to this one cause its how i feel about weaves. just an accessory

arahsrat: Even though I've never worn weave in my life, I do understand the reasons why other ppl do it: give hair a rest from the heat, easy to just wake up and go if they're too busy etc. I too am a victim of ppl thinking I'm wearing weave for the fact that my hair goes past the middle of my back and is very thick. Not only does that irritate me, but also the fact when I tell them that it's all my hair, they ask me what I'm MIXED with...as if I can't just be black with long hair...?? Pure ignorance...

africanigbolove: I 100% agree with what you ladies said. You ladies hit it right on the head!

eyerize37: We do need to stop the stereotyping with one another, I decided about a year ago to go natural so I cut off my relaxed ends about a month ago but wore weave before and during my transition, I just wanted to stop doing the relaxers for healthier hair, but I also like toswitch up my looks with weaves. Before I cut my relaxer out my hair was mid back length and even with that length I still wore weaves for convenience. You two crack me up! Great video

bammy84: preach it ladies.....i've been natural for 6 years but always wear wigs...i wear wigs because it's more convenient and not because i'm ashamed of my natural hair....can't remember the last time someone even saw my real hair....lol...but everytime i meet someone, be it a man or woman, they ask 'is that your hair?'....

Willisha Dionne: You beautiful ladies do NOT have to explain why you wear what you want to wear! These nosy people always have questions concerns and comments for black women that they did not birth. You both are beautiful and how ever you want to wear your hair, rock it! For all us black women!!!!!!

Felicia B.: I had no idea what I was going to do. There was a wonderful woman in my office who confided in me that she also had alopecia and now wore weave. I had no idea it wasn't her natural hair!! She was kind enough to put my weave in for me. She and the weave have been a GOD-SEND!!! Alopecia can chip away at your self-confidence as a woman. It's not a vanity thing, but we are definitely judged by our looks and hair is towards the top of the list.....

JustKayd: @justkayd I'm a damn proud weave wear-er.. And it helps 2 bring out my self confidence that my own kind helped 2 tear down!! So candy u look damn good with ur weave(and its funny cuz when u wear u natural hair..they hate..and when u do..they hate) anyways yall keep it up LOVE THE CHANNEL!! Keep it comin

Anita Volpato: Preach girl! Love my hair....

ichoose2bhappy: Really! I don't weave my hair because its costly and doesn't seem to last. I braid my natural hair. Thanks for another view because for the life of me I can't understand why any black women would want to look like a white girl. I think it maybe more accurate to say that certain hair resembles that of a baby doll or a horse. Again thanks for your insight. If I had a weave and somebody told me I was looking like a white girl I'd have that shit out before the day ended. I LOVE being a black woman.

Brittney Washington: well thank you. i keep it healthy by washing and setting it every two weeks, plus i get it deep conditioned to keep it strong. before i go to sleep i keep it wrap it then tie it down with a silk scarf. plus i perm it atleast every 3 months. i like to stretch my perm for as long as possible. And when it is time for a touchup i let the blow out my roots.

Leyanne: only listened 5 MINUTES so far & I LOVE THIS VIDEO! was hoping someone did a vid like this

msmarty87: ppl have to realize that sometimes you need to give your hair a rest. also sometimes ppl have an opportunity to change up their style. Iv tried everything ive been gold almost blonde now im trying red hair ive tried to be natural for 4 months its all on the person. ppl can do whatever they want when it comes to their hair

Glo Merriweather: once again... it's about convenience. getting a perm takes a lot of the time out of combing and buying all the the extra product to manage "afro-textured hair". It's not about the hair being bad... It's about manageability. plain and simple.

j wilson: I love you girls and I'm a loyal subscriber but yall don't even need to spend 20 min explaining all this to these ignorant people that send you stupid comments and ask dumb questions about your hair and this is coming from a white male. All the best to you sweeties! J-Dub!

Natalie Brown: Hair is hair, no matter what color you are. It's a fun accessory to play with. I love weaves, xtensions, wigs, clip ons, braids etc. It's all just fun. If who u are is ur natural hair, cool, but it's just hair at the end of the day! Wear what makes u feel comfortable.

Yoooo: thank you! that was my main point throughout my statements!

ashleytv: And even though it REALLY irks me that we're one of the only groups of ppl for whom it's not acceptable (by us and others) to wear our natural texture... wigs and weaves don't bother me. But then again what you eat doesn't make me shit either. If so, I'd be more concerned about what you put into your body and on your scalp.

Oreo718p: I love this video. Me personally I am a african american with natural hair. I don't have a perm in my hair and I love my natural textured hair. From time to time I do weave weaves, ponytails, braids, etc not because I don't love my natural hair, but because it's a protective style to ley my natural hair breathe and give it a rest from all the styling I do with it. People have their preference of what they want to do & I can proudly say I have a thick head of long afo hair and I still wear weaves

Pretty Lou: Hello! I have had my natural hair since I was born, and I don't feel negatively towards weave. I think the individual who addressed that comment to Candy, was a little ad libbing. However, there are SOME black women who put weave in their hair excessively, and fit every negative stereotype of a black woman today... that may have made him say that.

sirmike309: THANK YOU! WELL SAID!

LilyRose: Also, it's probably because I wear one but I can usually tell when a white girl, Asian girl, or Mexican girl is wearing a wig or even extensions (which around here a lot do!) but I have met a lot of black women who have worn a wig or a weave and I didn't know! They sure know how to blend and make it look amazing! I learned a lot about styling hair from black girls!

Ally Mark: First video I watched! Thanks to the skorpion. I think you two are amazing :)

Ebos S: I do not agree with you, but understand. I am glad that we are seeing more natural hair styles in our every day lives and on television. I know it is going to take a lot for us to get out of the "slave mentality" and realize that black women are and can be beautiful with their kinkycurlycoily hair. It hurts to know that you (and I at one time) felt my kinkycurlycoily hair was not beautiful.

sayrawr101: i know how you guys feel... im a pacific island and have dark skin as soon as i came to America everyone often asked me if i had weave on or if it was my natural hair..to me coming from a different country the concept of not having your own hair is strange.. but i finally figured its just stereotyping...and ignorant people...

Tomika Johnson: I love this video...because Im natural people think Im converting because I wear weave at times...no I put it in so I dont have to do it or to protect my hair so it grows and get healthy! Why are people so ignorant...and all up in other peoples business...thanks for setting them straight!

Sha'Metrius Thomas: because I love to try new things with my hair before I actually go out and cut all my hair off but at the end of the day you are you with your hair relaxed, weave, colored or even a wig some of these people that leave ignorant comments really need to get it together

gemini _flower: I WEAR MY REAL HAIR ALL of the time , i cant stand to wear someone's hair all of the time , occasionally of sometimes , but 99% of the time weaved up , i cant do it lol...it makes me feel uncomfortable ..

Justine Sambol: Ive been getting perms since I was like 8ish and I think its the best thing for ME...Its easier to manage for ME...Now lately I have been getting sew in's bc I wanna add extra length...alot of ppl ask why I wear weave when I have a good length of hair, but its just something that i wanna do...Even when I dont have weave ppl still think I have weave...I dk its like u cant please everyone...you shouldnt have to explain to ppl what YOU wanna do with YOUR hair...*smh*

Natalie Brown: It's a shame the standard of 'beauty' can't be the love and positivity that radiates from a person's soul. That would be the best standard to have. We live in a world with such messed up priorities. Sad.

disiz sumbull: Good Video Ladies... I agree with most of your points... keep up the good work :o} .. (no nit picking today)

gcoleman6: I go thru the same thing. I have really thick natural hair and whether it straight or curly people assume I'm wearing a weave.

Melrose0219: I agree with mscherish08 when my hair was down my back I had micros and my boyfriend was tellin me "you have too much hair to be wearin weave." Black women like to switch it up. My hair is natural now and growing like wildfire but I still wear kinky twist so i dont have to damage my own hair. I wear weave for heat and damage protection.

Ari M: - I Definitely Agree With You Ladies . On The Fact That People Act Like You Two Have To Justify Your Actions On What Your Doing To Your Hair .

mscherish08: my hair is as long as Candy's hair but recently i had micro braids in my hair. The entire time i had them in i had ppl tellin me that i shouldnt have had em in cause my hair was too long. i did it because i wanted to do somethin different to my hair and also because i was goin off to college i dont wanna do my hair everyday.

Taryn Bell: some dude asked me if my hair was real. and the funny part is. my hair is past my bra strap and it is all mine 100% but i wear weaves all the time. like wtf.

kira kyei: i feel yall. people think my hair is weave. EVERYDAY! they always say your hair is so pretty,is it weave??? i get so mad sometimes.

Shekalia J: i love my weave my hair growns better with it i dont have 2 worry about damage i dont have 2 worry about breakge i dont have that "wash and go hair". my hair is naturally thick and i don't have all day to manage my hair. people should get over themselves and stop hating on women with weaves. there are several different reasons for wearing weaves. it is pure ignorance to judge a women by there weaves and look down on them. my hair is hella long and i owe it all to my weave.

SIMPLYME100: You tried to break a stereotype/misconception but yet created others.I do agree with some of your points.

hawa kabu: There is nothing wrong with wearing wigs or weaves!! They are a great form of protective styling.

DearNadia: I'm working on a piece for Dialect Magazine that hilights the fact that there ARE black women with real long hair, both natural and straightened.

Keona W: I feel like this, I used to wear tracks and now I do not. I am black and when I look at black women who wear long flowing weave- yeah I now think it looks silly. I don't relax my hair but I do flat iron it. White and Hispanic women also flat iron their hair. That does not mean that I am not proud to be black.

Yonnea: People think I have a weave and my hair is natural. So I'm like, what do you think, I have Bob Marly hair in my head?? Even if you grow your hair long they still think you have weave up in there.

KoukiBuri: @babegurl821 you just named all the reasons why I like wearing wigs and weaves every so often it's all about style and management for me.

SwtTeri93: i get that alot as well. im a black girl and my hair is really long down to my empire line and curly but easily straightened. majority of girls i know, especially black girls, ask me if its real. someone even went to the extent to pulling it really hard cuz they didn't believe it was mine. but the thing that surprices me is that the white girls in my school are the ones who get weaves but everyone questions me. i guess thats how it goes in society. thanks for the enlightening and funny video x

monazoom: I don't have a problem with weaves as long as it looks good on the person wearing it. The only problem I have is when women with flat ironed/relaxed hair make fun of people with natural (unaltered) hair OR when women with natural (unaltered) hair look down on everyone else who has hair different to their own natural texture. Do whatever you like with your hair but be respectful to others who make alternative choices.

ashleytv: The difference in weave use among the races is that when Black Wmn wear weave, we tend to wear straight hair, but you rarely see other races rockin' kinky hair. So that means it's not just about length or protection (for everyone). It's a little bit deeper than that. With that said, I'd never call someone out of their name for simply altering their hair. That's ridiculous. I might go as far as to recommend that they LEARN how to love, take care of, and accept their natural hair. That's about it

MadMaxxieXD: I don't wanna argue cuz I do see where you're coming from, I'm just saying everyone should live and let live, like if you don't like it don't date her or whatever but I far too often see people getting attacked over what they choose to do with their hair and it's SO petty and unnecessary because if they wanna do it for whatever reason they can, point blank. People shouldn't be attacking each other over stuff that doesn't effect the other person, natural or not it's a preference.

O'cia Bozeman: i agree w/ everything ya'll said im 16 and i've had weave im my head...........but it not like i wanna be sumbody else.....i just like to stay looking gud,....i keep my hair done no matter what, thats just how i am.....ppl really need to get there shit together!

ardeania daniels: i love weave its my bestfriend lol i stop'd the perms cus its break my hair off so for my hair to grow track it up and keep it goin its look beautiful and its always done let them hate, they just mad their weave aint bomb lol

Cerebral: At The End Of The Day Its Just Hair, Im Natural And I Still Rock A Weave Sometimes Its Great To Have Options. Nobody Complains When Women (usually White) Cut Their Breast Open And Put Silicon In It

sammia8989: Amen sistas! It's always an issue when black women do it even though majority of non-black women fill up their scalp with India and Korea.

clod8: You are awesome! Great answer!

Ashleychanelol: lord jesus i loveeeeee the red hair skittles!! luv it luv it luv it. i see weaves as an accessory just like earrings, scarves, hats ect. hell in stores like claires (an accessory store) they sell....*gasp* hair extensions and pieces. its mainly white girls in there too. i posted a response video cause its the same view as you two have.

Jessica Johnson: We like to experiment with our style just like every other race who the hell are you to judge someone for what they choose to wear see that's our problem everyone feels so entitle like there criticism actually means something there are so many other things that are important we need to stop judging each other that's the problem with black women we are all not going to have the same view point on things doesn't mean we have to judge and hate someone for doing so you like to wear natural others

Lyric442: I like you girl. Lol. You make much sense. You ain't speaking nothing but the truth. Yeah I say it! Love you!!!!!!!

maichai: omg, what a mess! our society is so messed up. i am natural but i have NO problem with weave. I cant stand how ppl jump down black women throats over some tracks..loved your video, yall are beautiful ladies, and funny!

gcornelius308: You know what? Sisters aren't perfect. We've got issues. They've got issues. But overall, we good peoples. We're the imperfect match. Don't nag, that's her job.

Ms Harris: Im currently wearing lace front wig so my hair can rest and i can look good while my hair recovers.Because iv damages it so much over my 20 years of life, im waiting at least 8 months to perm or flat iron my hair again... So that y i wear WEAVE

Brittney Washington: yes indeed it is. you should be able to do what you please with your head without slack from other people. it's all about what makes you feel good. i want to color my hair so bad but i know my mother will give me an earful. that's all good because it's my shit! and i'm pretty sure you look good in any color.

AfroLady352: Yall are doing such a nice job.

ggscrapstoo: Ok - You did the vid back in January.. but thanks... I happen to have androgenic alopecia. the long and the short of it... it's hormonal and every women in my family has it as well. so thanks for speaking up..

taliyanna28: iagree w| yall. I always got a perm, just to keep it straight and just to manage. I am not my hair, i just like my hair straight and sometimes curly. iagree with yall.

gigi29125: I was just having this convo the other day. Caucasians (Going all the way back to European days) have in the past and still wear wigs, weave, and have chemically processed hair as well. With that said its not just BLACK WOMEN Egyptians wore wigs, Asian royalty wore wigs, the Romans wore wigs....Hell everybody's ancestors probably wore artificial hair :)

Younique semyhR: @bammy84 I am natural and I didn't start wearing WEAVES or WIGS until I went natural. Its because I don't want to damage my own hair with too much heat. People are just ignorant. Wear what you want and explain yourself to no one.

ペク: I agree you have to do Whats best for you Hell it's your hair. . . I agree when people wear extensions instead of chemically dying or relaxing their hair. Alot of people are harsh on black women about their hair but nobody says anything whenever you see a non black person getting lip implants or getting a tan or wearing extensions and another thing why does everyone assume we want to look European ? people are crazy

hollyboo21: B Woman: 1) Perm/relaxer- straightens, smooths hair W Woman: 1) Conditioner/blow dry- conditions, manages hair B Woman: 2) Sew-in/extensions- add fullness & length to permed hair W Woman: 2) Extensions- add fullness & length to natural hair B Woman: 3) Caucasian/Asian Hair Weave- covers head of afro hair W Woman:3) Big Ass Afro Wig- covers head of white hair. NOT! White women feel no pressure to hide their hair under full-on racially deceptive wigs, so why do black women?

Asant30: When we relax our hair it is actually straight. Everyone regardless of race uses products/techniques regularly to get their hair silky. And some African Americans have the same texture of the weave when the hair is relaxed so a lot of women look fine with or without weaves. It's just the pre-existing belief that if a black woman has hair that is silky & long it must be a weave but that is not always the case.

Chanell Rose: sto make a long story short this past sept i relaxed again cause the so called "Good man" had been watching me for a year before we got together and what atrracted him was how i kept my hair done every week and switched it up he never said he didnt like it natural but the other way better. well i wasnt happy every time i let them put that sh*t in my head it was like returning to bondage

Vegan Deterioration: lol so so funny i love ur channel

Colet's Corner: I agree with what ya'll are saying! It is just some hair!!! I am a mixed black woman and I have always had a lot of thick long hair and I like to change as well, I used to cut it all off and ppl would get mad at me, "it's Just hair", I don't care!! I sometimes wear a wig when I want to have a short do, because hubby doesn't like when I chop it all off, but he understands that to please him , I go out and buy a damn wig and the rest is history..No identity issues here!

Ashleychanelol: oh lord!! also paris hilton is the damn queen of weaves! her hair is naturally to her damn chin. once time she went to two events back to back. one with her natural chin-length hair, and the other event she had hair to the middle of her back. nobody said nuttinnnn.lol

Dave Law: Now you sound more reasonable but I do not feel like I was attacking anybody I was just voicing my opinion on why I don't like certain things. you raise good points also and while I don't agree with BW wearing hair hats It doesn't prevent me from having great relationships with the women in my family as well as my close female friends. They know how I feel about it and they see where I'm coming from and life goes on. :-)

LilyRose: I don't feel you're trying to be someone you're not....that's the most stupid thing ever! If you want to wear any type of hair then that is in fact who you are..you're a person who wants to wear something. Just like makeup, clothes, & nails. I wear a wig because I have alopecia. I don't feel that changes me or makes me someone else. I just want hair that I can style and feel good about. Haters suck and you two are gorgeous! Much love!

Mr S: Reasons Black Women wear Weaves 80% Laziness 10% Want to look cute/different hairstyle 10% Damaged Hair or cannot grow hair due to medical etc. Yes the REAL numbers are in!

clod8: You are one of the heros in the world!! It's sad that there is such pressure to look "wh/right" when the people can't even read or write!

T maine: well... iam a 24 year old woman who has work in hair salon all of my life...and i have had every hair style u can think of....and now iam natural and i do not see the big problem ...... black womenn have the upper hand when it comes hair cause we have so many things we can do wit our hair and it not the BIG OF A DEAL.... ppl do what they want 2 do.....LET IT GO!!!!!

LaniceW: As for myself, I don't wear weaves or get perms, but I do straighten my hair. Does that mean I'm trying to be something I'm not? If I don't like the natural look and rather flat iron or press my hair, that's my business. I'm not trying to be anybody but myself.

arahsrat: HEALTHY HAIR is gorgeous, rather it be natural or relaxed. And is def true that natural is not largely accepted. I've even played w/the idea of going back natural but I'm not at that point yet. But still, just b/c I decide to relax my hair for now, how come I'm judged? Hair is like an accessory these days. You cut it, grow it, dye it, dread it, weave it, wig it, etc...whatever you're in the mood for. I've even seen "natural" people dye their hair or dreads but yet still preach about "natural".

Shaolin: @ohiodelight2008 That happens to men too, kinda like how i defend wearing braids at age 17, i dont care what these black women think of me. shit ill stop wearing braids when black women stop wearing weave.

ashleytv: I definitely agree with BlaQSocrotes. I think you said it in a polite way too. Kudos

Chris: WELL!! Lol to be honest like you girls said it's a personal perference. I think if you want to wear weave do it. I do like girls who have long hair to be honest, but just because a girl wears weave doesnt mean they arent being true to who they are, be it race or whatever you want to say. I think ppl who say mean and nasty things about things that are so trivial really have low self esteem...they just want something to have to argue about.

Sarah Jones: Preach girl... Lol @ 2:18

Prestige: I like all textures of hair, from the kinks and curls of Afros and dreads to the straightest hair of all. I say if you wanna wear weave, do that shit. If you wanna wear your natural hair, do that shit too. Dye your hair? Great! Go for it! Don't pay attention to what anyone says because they're being judgmental. Do you. If that's what you like, do it!

Redtady: THANKYOUUUUUUU!!

Brittney Washington: i'm going to do and make a video about it.lol. thanks for the request.

Hope Wiley: @hwiley09 but you know I don't dislike my hair cuz I think I'm cute w/ my TWA (teeny weeny afro) cuz I have nice features and a nice facial structure, but you know different people don't always look hot w/ the same hairstyle cuz it's about what frames your face in an attractive way.
