Hey Glamfam! I truly hope this tutorial was helpful and showed you exactly how to curl hair with a flat iron detailed enough for you to make sure that you have it down packed! In the future Ill be showing you some other curling techniques with a flat iron, and I'll even show you how to deep wave with a flat iron!

Until then, be sure to have a look through some of my other videos, because many techniques I have already taught on this channel!

Until next time GlamFam, Take care, God bless, and STAY GLAM!

Hey glam family Linwood here and today, I'm gon na be showing you guys how to do some flat iron curls on this head of manikin hair here. So I will put a link to this mannequin down in the description box below, but it's always great to learn these new skills on mannequins. That way, you'll have to worry about burning the client. You don't worry about mishaps, pulling hair or anything like that. So links are all that will be down in the description box below today, I'll be using this flatiron here. This is the battle list, Pro nano titanium flat iron, and I like this iron here, just because it's honestly rather slim, it's pretty easy to work with, and it just does the job and it does it well. I'Ve had this baby for years. As you can see, it's pretty beat up by using the salon and everything absolutely love this baby. Okay. So I'm gon na begin by taking this hair and separating it across the nape. One thing that I noticed is a lot of times: people work with sections that are a little too large if they're looking for detailed, a detailed look to their style, they end up taking these massive sections and you don't get an even curl like that at all. So I'm gon na go ahead and clip some of this hair out of the way and we're just pinning up this bottom portion here. So I'm going to tilt you down just a smidge, so you can kind of clearly see everything. That'S going on and we're going to take about a one to one and a half inch size section. Now, when you're taking your sections like this, I do have this hair prepped. With a little bit of a smoothing serum. You can use a slight amount of a holding spray things like that from here we're going to go ahead and grab that flat iron and I'm just going to go ahead and place it right here at the scalp. Now I don't want to grip too tight. So I'm gon na leave lines in the hair like how you kind of see there, so we want to make sure we're doing nice, smooth motions, so I'm just gon na go ahead and take it lightly grip and just slide. It'S all about a smooth lighting motion. I see a lot of people end up doing this and if they don't make that smooth sliding motion, they don't get the same degree of curl that they could. So this is one version of the curl here and, depending upon how tight you roll that iron is going to give you different levels of intensity of the curl. So I'm going to go ahead and roll a little tighter, so not tightening my grip, but definitely tightening how much I turn it. So you can see that slight turn at the base moving pretty slowly throughout here and then once we've let go I'm going to turn. Look at the difference in that curl, so key difference here is on this one. I was pulling off to the side on the first one I'm pulling down and low, so you can see the difference in type of curl that you get so you want more of a loose beachy wave pulled down as you curl. If you want more of a tight curl that can drop into like a looser curl from there, you want to go ahead, just turn it tightly to the opposite side. Now, let's say, for instance, you got to the other side. You don't want all of your curls heading in the same direction from there. You want to make sure that you're picking up your section still come from the top and you're going to turn and bring it down the opposite direction. I see so many people where they get to one side. All their hair is curling in one direction and it doesn't give you that feel that you're necessarily looking for when you finish so you can see again pulling down, gives you that looser curl here so you've got loose wave standard curl loose wave there. So if you want more of a true spiral, turn it tighter, don't pull down at all okay now these will give you, like your lower amount of volume to your style. If you want to create even more volume in the style I'll go ahead and show you the tips for that now by the way, while I'm parting this out, if you haven't already make sure to check out my free hair care guide, you can click the link In the description box down below to be able to download it for free and that way you can be up-to-date on all of the going ons on how to care for your hair all them. So I'm not gon na start out over here again and if I want to build more body at the base, instead of coming from the top I'm gon na come from underneath. So basically, what I'll do is comb that one inch section fairly smooth. Let me turn her bit, so you can see so I'm gon na comb that one inch section fairly smooth and we're going to come from underneath it's still turning away from the face. Now we just begin to pull that iron towards us, nice and slow as we do that we'll go ahead and drop. It twirl that curl and the way it's supposed to go, and you can see how it gives that curl. But it gives you more of a build up of body here so for people who have flatter here and they like a body. This is a great way to build that body up there. So I'm gon na go ahead and show you again coming from underneath. Turning and then going ahead and just lightly pulling notice, everything is a nice smooth movement. The more smooth those movements are the more smooth that curl turns out. If you stop and pause your curls gon na look like you, stop and pause so again, pulling down versus just pulling to the side and pulling out of that hair notice, the difference in the intensity of the curl that you get so it gives you a totally Different style of curl, it gives you much more body at the base. Now, if we're coming in the opposite direction, let's say we want to curl away from the face on this other side. Again, we can still come in here, but now, instead of curling this way, I'm gon na bring my iron and curl it in the opposite direction. So we're gon na curl it with a slight angle, so we're just taking that flat iron and bring it in the opposite direction, still bringing it out towards me and there you have it so, hopefully you guys can kind of see the variance of curls that you Can get, and a lot of this is just a matter of how you're moving that wrist things like that, the more you do this, the easier it gets for you to get a consistent, curl all the way through and ensure that whatever look it is that you're Going for is the look you get now. I personally prefer for like a medium type curl somewhere in between the tight curl and that looser beach wave. So you can see here once you have that hair wrap around iron. You can pull it really almost any direction and you're gon na get a nice smooth, consistent curl out of it now one other rule of thumb and don't forget this is when you are letting that hair drop. Don'T pull your fingers straight through it. Let them cool when they cool they set in place and once they're completely cool. Then you can run your fingers through with product things like that. Otherwise, if you pull your fingers through all the hair, still warm you're pulling that curl down it's gon na drop and it doesn't last as long now. I want to go ahead and show you guys this here with the one-inch side sections. So we've got that they're going in and showing on those one-inch sized sections right. So I want you to see the difference in the curl that you get there and we're just kind of twirling it to encourage the curl that we placed in there versus. If I take really large thick sections, I'm never gon na get as much of a tight curl out of that hair, because we've taken a larger section with it. So now with finer hair, you can get by with a bit more fat. But I want you guys to look at how much more that curl drops. It doesn't get to be heated the same way all the way through, so you can see a difference even in the smoothness of the curl here versus here. This is we're taking a larger section versus a smaller section, so for all those are taking massive sized sections. If you want your hair to look smoother longer those curls to stay better, the smaller sections will always give you a better result. It just is what it is. Okay. Now, when I get up here in the top portion of the head above the parietal Ridge, I prefer to start working almost backwards. This way I can leave the hairline for their very last portion and the reason why it's just because it's kind of trendy right now to do the hairline a certain way. So I want to show you guys how to do that hairline portion. But in the meantime, I'm just gon na bring everything else back and away from the face like this here now, of course, in different time era of genres, all that people did different things around the hairline. So this may change the film when it is that you're watching it, but right now I'm gon na show you the trends for the hand, and so you know just stick with me for that portion here we are nearly finished and then we'll be ready to show You the finalized, look! Okay! Now, once we get to this front portion of the head here, I want to make sure that we're doing things a specific way to ensure it's just a bit more modern in terms of the look, so, instead of just kind of continuing to curl the way that We were doing I like to leave out a portion of that hairline and we're now going to bring the hair kind of out and down just because big hair around the hairline is not currently a major trend. So we're going to go ahead and take this hair. Coming down with our flat iron and bringing a hair back just like so so you can see, I can trace that hair, bring it on back things like that, and this allows me to have a nice curl in the front but still ensure that it's coming back And out of the face, instead of coming directly into the phase things like that, so it allows us to get a nice fall around that face area while still kind of keeping it out of the eye. Things like that which most working I'm not trying to have their hair and you got stuff to do today, you're trying to run over people on your ride home. You know you just you want to make sure that you're considered of things like that, so we're coming away from that scalp a bit pulling that hair right on back and away from the face and doing this with that iron from the up position on down allows You to have minimal volume here at the top, so we're not creating a ton of lift, but we still get the body back here where it's really more so needed. So it just gives you that calm look around the face, while still giving you all this buildup of body back here, because you curled that up in a way so again, coming over here we're gon na grip. This portion of the hairline okay, we're gon na come from the top and roll down in a way. Now, if I wasn't doing this at the camera, I would be doing it from the other side, but maneuvering myself around the camera can be a bit of a challenge. So it's honestly easier just to kind of do things the way I'm presently doing them, but you can see this way. We are able to build those curls without snatching from the final look of that style, see how much more calm it gives us here. But then it still allows us to have that build up of curl right in here in the face nice to hear - and you know on this last one we'll just go ahead and do it the same way we did the other ones. So that way we get a little bit of build then go ahead and bring that on down. So you can see how it just kind of falls nicely into the face I'll. Let that cool or run our fingers to it and then you'll see the final look. Now I'm going to take one pump of the theorem, and this one here is by camera I like, because it's really lightweight this is a revival. So four extremely fine textures are here this one here is great: it is a bit pricey because it's a salon product so don't say I didn't warn you and then from here I'm gon na go ahead and multiply it on my hands in between those fingers, and We just begin to bring our hands through that hair and pull the hair on out and down. Now, if you don't want to separate like this, you don't have to some people: don't prefer to have their hair separated, but I we like it so we're gon na pull it back and away from the face, and then I'm just gon na lightly push on back. Allowing that hair just kind of loosely fall same thing on this side, let's pull it on back and then just bring it back forward some and it always gives a certain nice kind of sultry fall to the hair. So I want you guys to see finish. Look at how those curls are falling and there you have it. Alright, you guys so until next time take care, god bless and stay clam. You know, I love you boo. I hope you learned something and don't forget to download that free hair care guys take care. God bless, stay, claim bye,
