Hi everyone, I finally got my hair straightened.

I've been natural for 4.5 years but this is in no way 4.5 years worth of hair growth.

I have had so much color damage and heat damage.

I am terrible at taking care of my hair so that's what I get...lol

I hope you enjoy this video.

I have lots of videos concerning my hair lined up so if you have any questions please leave them in the comment section and i'll get back to you; probably even make a video about it.

I had healthy relaxed hair.

At the peak of my hair, my relaxed hair was between Armpit Length (APL) and Bra Strap Length (BSL).

It broke of to somewhere between Chin length and neck length but I had managed to grow it back to shoulder length (SL) by the time of my last relaxer.

Even though I had lost a lot of length at the time I started transitioning to natural hair, I still had healthy beautiful thick relaxed hair.

I didn't stop getting relaxers because I am against relaxers or anything like that.

I have nothing against relaxers. Infact, I am the only natural in my family and we all get along just fine.

I stopped getting relaxers because I didn't like it, and I didn't see the point.

Also I liked wearing my hair big and curly even when I was relaxed.

I rarely ever wore it straight, so I decided why not keep it natural.

I must be honest, I had no idea about being natural.

I accidentally discovered the YouTube natural hair community and it helped me tremendously.

A few of the ladies I began watching who were of great help and inspiration to me were Naptural85, nikkimae2003, kimmaytube, reniecehairtv, mahoganycurls, HairCrush, etc.

I do not have the hair texture or curl pattern of any of these ladies.

Infact, I do not have a curl pattern.

I have very kinky, frizzy and dry natural hair.

I do not really go by the hair typing system or chart because honestly, I do not see my hair type on there.

I have what may be described as 4C natural hair (only kinkier and frizzier)

But I do not mind at all :-)

I have learned a lot on my natural hair journey and also made a lot of mistakes.

I experienced heat-damage from my latest blow-out due not not using heat protectants.

I have experienced breakage, shedding, dryness, etc.

But I am learning and that's what's important.

I have used a lot of products that have not worked on my hair and I have quickly become a "reasonable" product junkie. (I do not go overboard)

But I do love to try new products.

I have discovered the benefits of using sulfate-free shampoos and silicone-free conditioners.

I have also discovered the benefits of low-manipulation and protective styling such as two strand twists.

I started out not caring and honestly just using the cheapest product I could find on my hair.

This is not to say cheap products are bad but a few did not work for me.

I still use really inexpensive products and the most expensive product line I use is the Shea moisture line.

Like I said, I like to try new products. A few of the products and product lines I've tried are:

1. Aussie, Aussie Moist, Aussie Hair Insurance, Aussie Confidently Clean

2. Shea Moisture Line

3. Beautiful Textures Line

4. Trader Joe's Line

5. Tressemme Naturals

6. Suave Naturals

7. Herbal Eseences ( Hello Hydration, Totally Twisted, Honey I'm Strong, etc)

8. VO5

9. Yes To Carrots

10. Creme of Nature

11. Cantu Shea Butter

12. Organix

13. Giovanni line (Giovanni Direct Leave-in, Giovanni Shampoo, Giovanni Conditioner)

My hair has began to flourish using relatively inexpensive products.

I am yet to try the more expensive products such as Carol's Daughter, Entwine Couture, Oyin Handmade, etc

I am not perfect and still have a lot to learn on my natural hair journey but I have made great progress.

Join me everyone, on this journey :-)

Thanks all :-)

Hey guys so I'm back with another video, and so I recently posted a picture on Instagram. I got a lot of people surprisingly asking offer products you used to make your hair grow and it's like wow people still think products meet your hair cook like that. So much knowledge about her now about our natural hair and I think, for the most part, gurus are very like they're, very good about letting you know that it's not the product. That means that hair go and I'm going to be too good, and I saw her girls or new to you know different things. They might defend me for people and that's it really isn't the product. Since I care you just to your hair, I would be one thing: if people were asking me what product I used to achieve a certain style, you know I know people like my hair was it to name yourself. I just that I get at this a lot in my personal life like my family, my friends and just walking down the streets anywhere. People always stop me and ask me or products you use. Should I Joe's Whole Foods grocery shopping people always asking me so like hey? Why not for my 700 of blowing all subscribers, how I, how I'm human here first of all the first point, I'd like to say that my hair is not showing or relaxer and so um. This will work for you if you are relaxed, but this is what I've used the technique of use on my natural hair, and so you mean see your fullest potential. If you are not sure not saying if you're our lives cannot grow your hair, I'm just saying I'm not sure. Also, if I'm talking up all the things that make my hair grow, it may benefit you to also be natural again and then the first thing is. I leave my hair alone and I think that has really really helped me, I'm ever natural in January 2010, and it took me two years. They YouTube natural hair community, and I think that was a good thing. It was a bad thing for me was also a good thing for me. What'S a bad thing in the sense that I had no idea what to do with my hand, I just seen you outside I'll relax as much as I do my relaxer. So again, she was really good and my hair was really long, but she got into medical school and she moved away, and so when she won't go away within six months, my hair was all broken off. Because I used to go to this lady and she had no idea what to do with my hand. So once my hair, my hair, my phone - maybe here like the top of my browser, relaxed so like neck length and then I was like I'm gon na get to relax again and I guess, what's my hand bridge, I had no idea what to do. I would take my hair type, it seemed great and that's what I did for two years and my hair grew like a weed I hadn't. I wasn't really teaching my head. I would take out my hair, wash it in my hair with nut up cuz. I didn't know about washing in sections I didn't know about tumbling. I didn't want anything. I take out my fridge wash my hair with you know. When you take, I raise your heads kind of knotted and tangled, so you kind of have to tangle and open them up before you wash. It know take out my burrito watch this, not that all wet suits and wash it and then I'll come out of the shower and they try to comb. Through my hair, like I was relaxed, and so I would lose a crop top hair, but then I used to keep my braids in for six months. So, even though I was losing it was affair, I hadn't lost any hands six months, so I was losing a lot of it, but I was that month. I was losing in six months if you think about it. So, even though I didn't have the knowledge and sour susan and lots of hair, I wasn't it wasn't that bad, because I was keeping my bridge in for so long and then every six months I lose at craft time here, but then it wouldn't make that much Of a difference, because it's six months, my hair has been protected for the past. It comes by hand you protect for the next six months, okay to be protected. So, as I say, help is it. It was about that. I didn't know about the YouTube community, but it also helped me because I, my hair was just tucked away and was growing and growing and growing, and so I discovered a YouTube community and 20 tall and I got into that YouTube thing and then so I started My own channel, I started to do stuff to my head. Then it just wasn't me, I'm not good. With my hair, I just I always took that away. Then I can't do to my hair's a ponytail and I'm not good with my hair. So I stopped doing all that. That'S my hair, and now I had a knowledge, so I would wash my hair sections. I would handle our deep conditioning. You know, leaving oil all the good stuff, but then I was so leaving my hair alone. I would wash my hair and twist it up and that could be myself of the week or I would wash my hair do a twist out, and I would be myself of the week doing and during the middle of the week I don't do anything like paint Tag rule and bump fallen turn nothing and not to say those things are bad. I don't know how to do those things. The only thing I can do is twist outs. Braid off I can barely do fractures. I can do it so the front sections of my hair, but when it gets to the middle and the back, it gets confusing. So I cannot you do flat-chest outs in the front of my hair, so I the up. I can't do my hair really help, because I do my hair. I went to Stalin and that's all I can do. I went to stuff with them. I do every day, so I grabbed it out of you for the week or I just leave it in the fridge showing a chest until it's time for watching and the good thing about doing. Those things is that I get less shedding or less tangles, because when I do braids for the week my hair is in braids. It has entangled much because it's in the breed or the twist, its other tangled much and it's just in the braids or twists and I haven't been shedding because I don't really come in and eat chocolate. I lost SOS retaining its thickness and everything and when I would do stir breaks or that first like I regret it to the moon, each other, I don't really demeaning ones or, like you know, medium sized chest and I could friend out for two three weeks and That was really helpful. I really hope my hair goes for a long stretch. I was wearing all of those friend twists. I would just my hair for two three weeks, usually like three weeks four weeks and then I'll, take it out detangle the condition. Do the whole thing and then just the top again, and that really helped me, so that's a long way of saying that not leaving my hair on blue protector style and go find Palacios darling really held my hair grow TLC. I recently went to get my hair done at the salon and I lost too much length and thickness, and so, if you want your hair to go on to experts fullest potential, you want to be gentle with your head. You want to love your hair. You want to care for your hair, detangle gently in small sections with your fingers, then a white comb. Then our done Denman brush what the way you want to do, but it has to be gentle. You can't be breaking out your notes. You can't be no your help finish. Okay, your hair will finish absolutely gentle. We can hurry up, love your hair, give it some TLC and a and then I think, the reason I'm able to be really gentle. With my help - and I do it is because I don't know it's often, I think if I do that often I would get tired of I would be in a rush. I would my hair does take a long time to do a howl, 4c hair more like fuzzy here, but my head, as we take a really long time to detangle and all that stuff. So I think it helps that I'm not in my head. Often I'm in the once in a while and when I'm in there I'm like okay, we've been here in a while, I'm not going to be in here for a while. So it's worth my time, so I'm very gentle with it and huh really helps my hair and then for the products for those of you who I just waited for the products I use and everything I won't say I used any. Oh, I don't think one particular part of products that help my hair. What does help line here is moisture product, so a lot of Frederick's have the moisture line and the volumizing line that shine line, blah blah blah. Oh, do moisturize. The moisture has a volume or some volume that has shined awesome shine. I always get moist or the moist Shea Moisture products. They have the moisture shine anti breakage to help all these things volumizing, I always get moisture what other product values. My products are mainly what you want and Shea Moisture so for those of you who everything for my products, yeah and oils and a homey cheap Atomics. That'S I use, but my point says my shampoos I use sometimes quinoa to each other, sometimes Aussie, moist, sometimes Shea Moisture and I always get the moisture line. I always always get a moisture line, and this is this is because I have really dry tangled much it. My hair, it is not Chelsea, that's how it is so I need moisture moisture so all my opponents in my head moisturize and it's lazy tongue, then it says tangle this less. What let's break in you know all that stuff, so moisture solves all my problems. It may not be the same for you. This will not be the case for my sister, because her hair as soft and shiny to begin with, so it's not dry, so preventing dryness will not prevent dryness because it has one tries to begin with. You know for her, she volumizing, maybe her key, because I has not steak. I do be shiny and Sookie. I think it's a trade-off when your head very thick and voluminous. Sometimes it's hard for it's a shine because, like I go, my hair straighten and it's a pouf because it's so thick and so it's not laying down and flowing and being sulky, and you know so, depending over your head. This may not be a good tip for you, but I always get a moisture line. If you want to get me, a few more meets, buy your product just put moisture needs and that's the one I'll get so get to know your hair. If your hair is very thin, but already very moisturized and soft, you don't know what you get to the moisture line. Maybe you want to get the Fordham Eisen. You know the volumizer line so get to know your hair and do what works for you. But this is what works for me, the moisture line and even though my hair is also dry with regards to what I said about TLC and caring for your hair, it goes it ties into my next point, which is over silent, so, like you always want to Do something to your hair like a mohawk, then it does, then it does then straight hair. They call once then too much of that is bad and that's also going to the Sun. Often I just went to a salon independent that kind of selling you have. This may not be a good soup for you, but going to the salon, often to get your hair done, and I because I just went to the selling and I'm like who, then god I've done this once in three years, because my hair would be all gone. You I wish you guys had seen the floor of hair after my hair was done and it had been searched in Batumi. So you can imagine if you know I keep going to the Sun. If I hadn't reached the Sun, then my hair would be 1/2 or 1/4 what test now, depending on who you are and who your stylist is. I take really gentle care. I take good care of my hair gentle, I'm very gentle with my hand and that's how the stylist was the opposite. So this is a good tip for me, but if you like, if you have no patience for your own hair and you can't find a stylist to be super patience with your hair, then it took it's. Maybe interests go to the salon, but for me personally, in my experience with all the standards of Bin's, they just have no patience for my hair and this may be because my hair is so really you know. Maybe if you have a different section ahead, they may be gentle on with your hair. If you have a 3 c48, there may be gentle with your hair. My hair is really not on the hair type in charge, and they just have no patience with it and they just want to rip it all. They just want to cut it. They just want to be done with it. They just want to shave me bald. So if you are such a person with hair that hair stylist hit outer comment minimize the Solomon visits - ok, I just went from almost whistling to very brush chuckling, so yeah and then with all this, as you can see it, it's contingence a lot. The really important thing is get to know your hair get to know more websites or products. What I don't care, what techniques, what works for your hair cuz? We are all different like everything I said it doesn't even apply to system. We are really close. So now not that the chances are they all will not supply for you. You know in the end, the tenant that you have to really take good clothes, your hair and taking good care of your hair and tells you knowing, which is good for your hair. So get to know your hands initially, you may take some trial and error. I did so much Harlan or I had so many products. That'S where this hell to get together, like I'm not doing this product that we have with us. For that I have to use it. Then there was terrible for my hair. You know took a lot of trial and error. Finally, I go through it. I still have some product I have to get through, but get to know your hair and do what works for you do not follow the chain just so many products, but I haven't tried and being natural for almost five years. You would think that I've tried theirs and I've tried that no initially, I did some trial and error something with I start to it. A healthy person doesn't need a doctor. If something is recognized, stick to it. If you ain't broke, don't fix it. So I start to it. I do try things here and there, but I have my staples, but I stick to so again get to know your hair get to know who works for your hair and stick to it. It'S okay to Chinese stuff, but how's your core regiment have your core products and stick to them. Okay, so that's it! You have any questions. Let me know and yeah the more than happy to answer so again, thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next one, fine

Dina S: Your description box was very informative thanks for taking the time to put all that info

Andrea Banks: I really hope my hair can grow like that omg i am in love with your hair

Tasha G: hair envy! I can definitely relate to what you are saying. whatever you are doing is working well though. I'm three years natural and i have been stuck between neck / shoulder length for a long time. I am still learning my hair as well.

Originaltae Xo: Thank you! The video was very informative. Some people understand you need to be patient that's why it's called "healthy hair journey" she's explaining her journey.. Anyway thank you for explaining. You're beautiful and you're hair is amazing

DestinyC1020: That's why I don't like going to salons sometimes. I feel like they don't understand natural hair. Or, they get so scissor happy! I wonder if they do it on purpose. I've never heard anyone say their stylist grew their hair. They use great professional products, but I don't think they ate in they business of growing hair. They're in the business of making your hair LOOK NICE, or give it a hot new style. But as far as growing hair, I think you have more success doing your own hair at home.

Indii Bleu: Thank you for your honesty and I just have to say, your SKIN!

inspire4success: Imelda, your hair has come such a long way since I've seen you... Keep up the good work...

Yanique West: Wow youre so pretty. And thanks for the video, im personally very good at styling my natural hair so my hands are always in it, but ill learn to just leave it alone. Instead of styling once a week ill change to once a month! Thank you xxx

nhbeautyzone: thanks for sharing your journey :)

ama barton: beautiful hair... how long did it take for you to grow it that long

Shaila Diamond: It's so so true. A lot of stylist see a lot of hair and think 'Hard Work' They really don't know how to manage natural hair. It's ridiculous. They tangle it all up and then pull on it like it's their enemy. They have no clue about detangling and styling our natural hair

aTropicalTwist: "They just want to shave me bald!" Lolll. That is definitely true of many stylists...I have 4b/4c hair and I'm familiar with the struggle to find a patient stylist (that's why I just do it myself). Great Video, thanks for sharing :) x

kiimmberrLyyy: OMG The over styling! Great tips!

Noella Richmond: How did your hair that long? I cut my hair since 2012 because when I was younger I permed it and the crown part of my hair broke off REALLY bad and then the side of my hair was its natural length then I cut it all off, until now it's still it's same length and it grew but keeps cutting and now my hair is VERY short. I don't know what to do. I need help I've been like this for like 6 years

Realtalk: Very informative video. I was not bored nor did I think she was rambling. Real talk.

Joel Milan: I was so shocked when she said she wasn't relaxed

Mo ettienne: how long have you been natural?

Brother with real natural healthy hair: Awesome video.

Linguist Girl Ambie: great video. And you are beautiful.

Maryam Hawsawi: i Much happier when I find a girl has the same color as my skin with long hair and beautiful, but my hair is very bad; can you but the images for products that you use; because I will Order them from Amazon.
