Hello, everyone welcome to the rep health family and thank you so much for being here. My name is benedicta and in today's video we will be talking about an important part of our natural hair regimen. That is mostly overlooked as we go about our daily business activities and also taking care of our hair. We do so much to it to grow it out. However, this important part of our natural hair regimen is mostly ignored, and that is our night care routine. What have you been doing before you sleep? What steps do you put in place to ensure that the hair you spend so much time effort and, of course, your money on is well protected and also given that the type of environment for it to grow and flourish today, we'll be talking about a few steps To follow every night before you, sleep, we've been doing that on myself, on my oldest daughter's hair and as well as my youngest daughter's hair. In fact, we've been doing this religiously as much that my youngest son also tries to do the same. Sometimes so we're talking about three steps that we follow to ensure that our night care routine helps us to retain our length and also helps our hair to grow and flourish. The first is moisturizing your hair. This is um solely dependent on the kinds of products you use on wash days. How well your hair is able to hold on to moisture how? Well you sealed your hair um in between wash days. It mostly depends on the porosity of your hair. So if you have low porosity hair, you try as much as possible to incorporate regimen during your wash process. The deep conditioners you use to ensure that moisture is able to get into your hair, but after moisture gets into your hair and you seal it. Well, it takes quite some time for you to lose that moisture. However, if you are highly porous, the braids are sweats, your hair, absorbs moisture and also um gives out. Moisture is quite fast so, depending on the porosity of your hair, you may need to moisturize your hair. More often than not for us, we do moisturize our hair, sometimes every other day, or it can take like two or three days before we moisturize our hair again, depending on the products we use. I believe some people may love to moisturize your hair every single day. There is nothing wrong with moisturizing your hair every single day, but try as much as possible that your hair um sort of absorbs the moisture before you proceed to sleep. So when you are moisturizing your hair, you can follow any of these processes. You can do the lco method, which is the liquid cream and oil method, and it's layering products in this order, or you can do the loc method, which is layering with liquid first oil and then cream. So just please play around with your hair. Try to find out which product works best for you if products are not working well for you, please try as much as possible to make a change and do what your hair loves for us. We always moisturize with water. We follow this up with a cream, moisturizing cream, and then we use some oil, olive oil or any other oil that we have on hand, but mostly it is olive oil, and then we follow this up with shea butter as well depending on the weather. So if the weather is extremely dry, then we'll obviously add shea butter to it, and if sometimes we have our shell butter mix on hand, then we are going to just use the shea butter mix after we use our moisturizing cream. Also, the frequency at which you moisturize your hair may be dependent on the style you have installed. So for someone who has twist installed, it may be convenient to do daily, moisturizing or if you have braids installed, then that may not be convenient for you. So it depends on the style you have installed. The next step we will be talking about is the type of styles your hair is in before you sleep. One important thing to note when it comes to styling your hair before you, sleep is never to sleep with your hair loose because of the nature of our hair. Our hair is coily and for some people, it's curly, and this enables our hair to tangle together. They love to hang on to each other and, as you sleep with your hair loose, this may result in you having extremely tangled hair by the time you wake up. Also, the tangles that results from us sleeping with our hair loose may lead to breakage, and this is solely from us trying to detangle our hair and presenting ourselves with an opportunity to over manipulate our hair. So when you are sleeping with the styles that are mostly suitable for us as putting our hair up in twist, that is for those who, maybe during the day, had loose styles, it's best to put your hair up in twists or in braids, or you can african Thread your hair as well, if you had a stretch towel before um going to bed, another thing is pineapple in your hair, and this is just holding up your hair up, um everything together and then letting the remaining portion of your hair rest on top at the Top of your head yeah, if that makes sense, we do not like to sleep in buns because um. I feel that the hairband is a bit tight and it can lead to breaking so it's best to sleep with your hair in twists, braids or african thread or pineapple as well. So the final step in our night care regimen, is the fabric. We sleep on what fabrics do you sleep on? Most of us have cotton bed sheets and cotton pillowcases and, as we all know, cotton as well as nylon are highly absorbent materials. So if you sleep on cotton, your hair is going to lose moisture as it's going as the cotton material is going to absorb moisture from your hair. Also, the texture of cotton fabrics is very rough and when we sleep, obviously we toss and turn during the night. Therefore, the friction that results from us turning and tossing may cause our hair to break, because these fabrics are rough and as our hair wraps on it, our hair cuticles may become damaged and it may lead to breakage of our hair. So what can we use to remedy this situation? There are two types of fabrics that you can use. You can either use satin fabrics or silk fabrics, silk is quite expensive and sleeping on a wholesale and veggies or getting quite a number of them is quite expensive. But what can we do? There are three products on the market that has been specifically designed for our natural hair using satin or silk, and the first is obviously using a satin um bonnet. So this is a satin bonnet, and i got this for my girls. It comes in a variety of um, that's a variety of colors that you can buy for your kids, and this is a kit size. They also have adult sizes as well. So it's there's, there's no room for you to say that you don't get your size. In fact, they have even um larger sizes that you can put on um, just throw it on your hair when you have braids in your hair. So this is a satin um. How a satin bonnet looks like also i have over here silk. This is a silk bonnet and i love love how this silk bonnet is it's a bonnet. However, it gives you the flexibility of tying it according to the size of your hair, and this is for myself, it's quite big, and this is the brand from lily silk. I really really really really love them yeah, so you just throw this over your hair and then you tie it at the back of your hand, this ensures that there is also an elastic. There is an elastic at the back to to keep it on at night and it ensures that it does not come off your head. So this is how satin bonnets are. I really like the bonnets because they do not come off at night. Another product is using satin scarves. I do not have a scarf on hand here, but i have something over here. That is a blend of the scarf and the bonus one disadvantage of using the scarf is that is that it can come off at night. So one thing i do is that even if i use a scarf, which i use solely to ensure that my my twists are not puffy at the roots, i i tie a scarf around it and then i place a satin bonnet over it to ensure that it Stays in place, however, this is um. This over here is a scarf. It says, um a satin scarf and it has um these straps over here, which you can just tie around your hair to ensure that it stays in place. So it's like a blend off a bonnet and also a scarf at the same time. This is how this looks. The last product that is made for our hair to protect is using a satin or a silk pillowcase, and for this i have an unboxing to make. So join me and, let's unbox my latest patches, so this is how it is packaged in. I got this off amazon and yay. This is how it looks and just look at the fabric of of of how um of the silk you see it's very soft, very gentle on the skin and also on the hair, and you need to get hold of either satin or silk for your hair. It works amazing, it works amazing yeah. So just imagine your hair being treated to a good night's sleep in this fantastic fantastic. So what you need to do is just take your pillow. Obviously i have their regular pillow case on it and um. It depends on the type you want to get. They have those that comes with a flap um at this side, and just you just put it like this. They have those that comes just like this pillow and they won't obviously don't come off. But i like to get the one with a zip to ensure that everything goes in perfectly and um their hair is protected at night. So that is one thing i try to do. Let'S just put it over just zip it up, and you know that it's going to protect your kids. So just look at it very soft, very, very soft and yeah as you sleep and you toss and tan. Your hair is going to have a free, glide free movement on this silk um pillowcase. If it's satin that you have, you are going to get the same. So these are the basic things to think of when it comes to protecting your hair at night. Giving your hair tender loving care at night as much as you do during the day and as a bonus from using the satin um night cap, the bonnet or the scarf. You have your styles preserved, so you don't have to worry about your styles, getting um, frizzy or looking really pretty bad. When you wake up, if you've had protective styles installed, it precessed the the look of it, the aesthetics of your protective style for babies. I personally feel that, for safety reasons, i do not want to introduce certain nightcaps to them at a very tender age. So when you have a certain pillowcase that may be of help or you can just attack um a material, a satin material or a silk material under their mattress, and they will be good to go. Please share with us in the comment section what your night care routine is. It will be interesting to know. Please subscribe like and share this video with your friends and family. As always, you are a repel because you are precious see you in the next one. Bye
