I just don't you guys to use like hair care, that's and there's a lot of hair care out there. There'S some other good hair cares out there, but there's a lot of knock on hair cares out there, and i want you guys to use the best. Welcome back to our youtube channel honey, i'm so excited because we are back in session for another gorgeous episode of hair school. Now, here's the thing: i am a sought after busy grown-up, who is doing like 75 businesses. She is busy honey. I'M stunning the curls are popping. This has been like the cutest hairstyle of all time, so i kept it and i'm never taking it out, and we showed it how to do this same. Look on the channel, which is in the description below if this is the first time that you're seeing it i just oh yeah, my job triceps. I thought that they were giving me chickens, but then they were like. I was like cute girl. My arms are working so hard to like stay attached to my body and i'm really proud of them. What'S the first question autumn cunningham wants to know i've never cut my hair and i'm nervous to find the right stylist. What red flag should i look out for? I'M more concerned about your red flag, honey that you've never had a haircut in your life. Okay, the only red flag you should be looking for is the one on top of your head, walking into a salon literally saying to her anybody in there that you've never had a haircut before you're walking around looking like sasha trusova, the russian figure skater that has Hair down to her ankles, or maybe it's like for a religious reason, and you just escaped like a christian cult and then i shouldn't be making fun of you, because maybe you, like literally escape okay well, first of all, if you've never had a haircut before, i'm Gon na answer seriously, if you've never had a haircut before go on instagram try to find some stylus in your local area. You could like look. I mean if you've never had a haircut. I don't know if you know how to use instagram, but there's this thing called a hashtag and you it's like it's like a pound sign, and so you could put up like like your city um like amishville, pennsylvania, um, amishville, pennsylvania, local hairdressers. Oh, you guys can't even use electricity. So how the are you gon na do that um she got to instagram. She did she actually she's she's, not i'm amish, phil you're right she's, not yeah. Instagram is like your new yellow pages. So you want to go on the instagram. You want to find people in your local area so like if you're in, like houston, like do like hashtag like houston salons, look at the salon, see some stylists there um and look at their work and see if their work is on hair types like yours see. If you like, the way their hair, looks and then reach out to them and ask for a consultation, i think a consultation is a great way to establish a relationship with your hairdresser on the first time. So you can kind of like see if you're all on the same page, and you can talk to them beforehand like if the consultation goes well like did you have time to cut my hair afterwards or you prefer that i come back at a separate time. I think, on the whole, some things that are not good is, if you should always have your consultation with dry hair like if they go wet your hair down right away, like that's, not great, because you want them to like go through your hair and like look At the haircut beforehand and like see what's going on before, they just go straight into like start doing stuff. One way to know that your haircut doesn't look good is, if you get there, she cuts your hair. Then she turns you away from the mirror and then starts to curl it with a curling iron. That'S a telltale sign that you got a up haircut so if they break out that curling iron, you girl, so colleen victoria, wants to know what a great double name by the way colleen victoria, the best products for very thin gray hair. I'M looking to help my mom with her hair, the best product for fine gray, hair, thinner, fine, gray, hair is embody shampoo and conditioner by jv and hair care. It is going to set her hair up for success. It'S going to be amazing. Then i would say: go on with some sort of foam it's great to give fine hair some mousse. I love like ample angora by shua mora's good, but she's a little pricey. If you want to like not be so pricey, you could go for like famoliant by aveda, or you could go for way. Dad they have a great foam. Foam is great. Like a volumizing foam, a volumizing mist would be gorgeous um and then also the air dry cream would be nice to give her a little bit of texture. It'Ll never get clumpy, it won't be heavy it'll, be really easy for her to style. Ashley a-s-h-i-l-l-y wants to know how do i prevent and treat hairline acne, or how does she want to stiff her hairdresser by telling her to shut up and not ask her any stupid questions? I remember you ashley. This sounds like her again. It sounds like her again like she's changed her account, she's come back. That is just your stylist trying to help you, i just for clarity, ash and more on your hairdresser's side. She'S. Okay, no she's, not a question she's, not okay, and we won't tolerate it. Ashley. One unwanted trend this year was this particular woman named ashley harassing us. She wanted to take this makeup sung and she wanted to shove it down her hairdresser's throat. So she wouldn't ask her questions anymore. She had the nerve to double second triple quadruple, guess her hairdresser. For kindly trying to refer to her heat protective products, what does she want to know again? How do i prevent and treat hairline acne, it's new for me, making sure that you're washing your face every night is really important. Sleeping with your hair back, i think, is important: making sure that your pillowcases are freshly cleaned and maybe with like a fragrance-free detergent like maybe get a couple extra sets of pillowcases so that they're ready and just like change them. A few nights a week, um like a little more often it could be that, like you're, just oh, i'm stressed oh, your phone clean your phone off clean the phone off because, if you're like me, i'm stressed hairline hairline acne can sometimes be like stress and, like Anxiety so make sure you're taking care of your insides, make sure you're drinking some water wash your face for at least a minute at night, like literally 60 seconds. I love those la betiola just like wrist guards, and you put them on like while you wash your face and it allows you to like wash your face at the sink at night, without splashing water everywhere, they're amazing. It will, i think, that's gon na help. The question for miss laura lou is how to grow out gray, gracefully and focus on hair health. So when we're growing out like an all-over color and we want to go gray, there is a lot of ways that you can handle this. First of all, you're going to need some time and some patience and you just got ta. Let it grow um. Once the line gets. You know a few inches, you could just get twiggy with it and do like a gorgeous cropped, beautiful, shorter, little dew and grow. It out that way, um you can also find a colorist who specializes in like really really really corrective bleach and tones um. There are some people like this one guy jack jack, martin colorist. He does incredible bleach and tone transformations of like restoring people back to salt and pepper, but you really have to find an expert who only does that or who does that type of hair color, because the second you go to someone else that doesn't know how to Do that they're gon na jack, you up, for instance, this one time when my mom had cancer. She was like. I survived cancer. She already had like a cute little gray, bob she'd grown it out and she was like. I survived cancer. I don't want to have gray hair anymore. I want to feel younger, like make it brown, and i was like, are you sure, and she was like yes, so i made it brown and then she was like. I hate this maintenance. I miss my gray hair. This is way too much work like what the hell, so i was like oh mama i'll, do it out, so i bleached out the brown. I left it off her roots and then i put this like gunmetal gray over the bleach and tone that matched perfectly with her natural color. She was so impressed until that pigment faded out and revealed like the pp, yellow hair underneath her hair and it looked so dry and crusty that my grandfather, who's, almost blind literally called me and was like there's something going on with your mom's hair. But it was 27 15.. It was a different time. I didn't know - and really i didn't get it light enough before i deposited that color on it and that's why i got to go to someone who really does those hair colors like all the time i was experimenting on my mom, but like it's a whole thing And the most important thing to know when you're growing out your hair color to silver, is that you're doing it for you, if you're going through something and your hair color isn't looking right, it's nobody's business and you're beautiful and remember that roselle carm rosalcar wants to Know i had a baby six months ago and i'm now losing my hair in the front. Please help what do i do? Okay. So this is a really really really common issue. When people are pregnant, they stop shedding their daily hair. So when you're not pregnant, you would lose like 80 to 100 hairs a day on average, depending on what you read. There'S like it says, different things that on average that's how much we lose and when you're pregnant you stop shedding. So you build up all this hair and then, when you have the baby like the hair, starts to shed a lot. So if it's shedding just a ton in the front one thing you could do not having seen you it's kind of hard, but you could do a fringe like do a little fringe. Take it from back here, comb it forward and do a little fringe. That'S one choice: um. Another thing that would really help out is actually our pre-wash scalp oil. So if you have any hair, that's trying to get out of the follicle, but there's something plugged in there. The turmeric is going to help to decongest that then there's a bizabolol, that's a really powerful anti-breakage, so pre-wash gallbladder would be really good. You could experiment with a fringe. You could also do like little scarves. A little hair ties little headbands and also just remember, to be easy on yourself. You literally just like gave the miracle of life. That is no small feat. That'S a big deal, there's all sorts of stuff that you can experiment with and play with. As you grow, your hair back out and don't worry, it will come back. Layla wants to know, tips for growing out an undercut or buzz cut. Okay, so tips for growing out an undercut. It'S actually pretty easy, because if you have an undercut, it's you know underneath and when you actually grow your hair out. This is like the last thing that you need to grow up because it's starting the lowest so an undercut you just simply let it grow for a buzz cut. The way that the head is shaped, the nature of the hair. If you cut your hair short, it just didn't cut it. It'S going to be a mullet every time, and the reason for that is that this hair, underneath your head, it's already starting here, whereas this hair has to travel from the top of your head all the way down here to just meet where this hair is starting From so, if it all grew out at once, the bottom layer is going to be the longest and you're going to have a mullet and and for some people, that's fine, because some people are like that's my length. I don't want to lose, it don't touch it. If a shaggy mullet, isn't your thing and you'd rather, like you know from your buzz, have like a short cropped cut and then more of, like you know, like a short bob and then grow it out that way, you're just going to keep cutting that back up Until it turns into like a one length bob and then once it gets into the one length bob, you just don't touch it, you just kind of let it grow until the back drops out of the bob it'll turn into like a long layer thing and then You'Ll need to get a haircut when you have like almost like this haircut like a one length, and it's all here, one length and it's like starting to get heavy, there's lots of different ways, but really important to find a hairdresser who you trust to continue to Go to throughout that grow-out process. Diane mary126 wants to know the best tips for maximum hair growth, so the products that you put on your hair are very important for hair growth. I get that not everything has to be jv and hair, but here's the thing. Okay, not all products - are silicone free, not all products are sulfate free, our formulators, our chemists are scientists to put so much into this line. I really do believe that nothing else works. The way that jv and hair does, which is why i'm always talking about it? It is so important to me that we use clean beauty because it's better for our water, it's better for our planet, but in jv and hare's case. Not only is it clean beauty, but it also is way better for your hair. I just don't want you guys to use like hair care. That'S and there's a lot of haircare out there. There'S some other good hair cares out there, but there's a lot of knock on hair cares out there, and i want you guys to use the best. Sidness 99 wants to know. If you could do anyone's hair. Who would it be? I don't even know you know what the thing with that question that is so hard is that it's like i like to help people who ask for help. I don't want to just like go be like. Oh, let me do your hair, so with that in mind, like i mean, i think it would be really fun to get to style, beyonce's hair, not because she needs it. It looks perfect but, like obviously miss tina was a hairdresser and i've seen all those hbo documentaries of beyonce, just like going at her own hair with scissors like getting her hair like just how she once i think, it'd be really fun to just like play. Hair and like play kitchen beautician with them and just like style, hair and have fun and like talk, and i just like, really want to meet beyonce, obviously so that so that's our hair school. Thank you so much for coming today. Jonathan Van Ness: Class is in session! If you missed Hair School Part 1, here you are: https://youtu.be/LPraLL8FrPM Also, tell me something funny.

Patricia Balzer: I do have to agree with your advice about using the pre-wash scalp oil. I’m also 6 months postpartum and used it and it came back and more!

Ashley Robert: LOVE "My arms are working so hard to like stay attached to my body, I'm so proud of them." I love the attitude! ❤️

Breonna Mabry: I will take literally any advice JVN is giving. JVN hair products have changed my natural hair game! I'm desperately hoping the company drops a mousse or gel in the near future! I swear, no one knows hair like Jonathan.

Cristina Camacho S: You bring a huge smile in my face with every single video you do. Your energy is everything! Thanks for making it my little pocket of joy today. Love you forever, JVN!

eyeseajujubee: JVN gives great advice! I love how appreciative and kind he is about his arms at the beginning. A good reminder to be kind to ourselves

My Fair Yoga: Can I just take a moment to thank you for being a neurodivergent celeb success story? Every time I watch you, I am so happy to see someone who rocks their ADHD like I do. God bless you, JVN!! #representationmatters

HELEN LARA MURPHY: I loved the tip that was shared on Insta about using the moisture mask on dry hair. The woman in the post was putting her hair up in a sleek bun and it gorgeous. I added a little into my hair before heading to the gym this morning. Mostly to have a nice scent around me before becoming a sweaty mess but it definitely made my hair super soft.

Liv Norrman: You're literally amazing, I get so much energy from just listening to you. In addition, the content of this video was very inspiring and instructive. Thanks so much!

Sarah VanWassenhove: I came here specifically to gush about how much I LOVE JVN Hair products. (These fabulous tips are a bonus to my morning.) I have wickedly sensitive skin, and always have trouble finding hair products that won't anger my skin. Most of the time, I just wash my hair and forget about trying to style it. Not anymore! Thank you a million bazillion times for these products!! You're an incredible human.❤

Ally Shaw: Gave me terrifying flashbacks to growing out my pixie cut. I've never had more haircuts in a short span of time than I did then in order to avoid the dreaded shaggy mullet. But it's okay, as JVN said, we got past it.

danYELL: Love how JVN always had a figure skating or movie reference for everything! And my "tell me something funny" is that my sisters and I finally got my mom to check you out.. she has been reading your books and she keeps being all "didju know this" and "didju know that" about you.. like a lil high-school girl!

Kacey Jane: Loved this ! So just recently bought the JVN heat protection cream and was hesitant since I have always used a spray but let me say it is literally perfection! The consistency is ideal , you can make sure your getting it through all your hair and ends that need it and it makes your hair silky soft without weighting it down plus I feel like your get more product bc you know how much to use vs the spray you end up going through so quickly ! Love this product thank you !

Andrea Carpenter: I love that you addressed a few questions about hair growth and hair loss. I’ve always had lots of hair and my hair has always been the number one thing about me that I am the most confident about, so it’s been scary that in the past few months my hair has been shedding like crazy. I’m literally cleaning out huge clumps from the drain every time I shampoo (twice a week). I started using the JVN Trusted Trio and though I’ve yet to notice any new growth or change in the shedding (I know it takes a while to notice results) I can say that I’ve never used better hair care products than JVN and I’ve used some of the “best” in the business. I’ve also noticed since using the Trusted Trio my hair seems to be changing texture? I’ve always had super straight hair and now when it air dries (which these days is every time I wash it) it’s drying wavy, especially in the back, and I love it! I’ve always wanted wavy hair. Anyway, I’ve always taken really great care of my hair (even through my phase of bleaching and dyeing it pink, mint, silver, blue, you name it I’ve had that hair color ), but now my hair is thinning and the shedding is alarming and driving me bananas. I’ve never shed so much hair in my life, even when I was postpartum or when I was bleaching it every 6-8 weeks. It is now closer to my natural hair color for the first time since 7th grade and I haven’t gotten it colored since before I started noticing the excess shedding so I don’t know if there’s any correlation there or not but it’s never been less “treated” and taken care of and yet it’s falling out. I’m seeing my doctor on Monday and I’m planning on addressing this with her. I don’t know if it’s a medication I’m taking, hormones, lack of vitamins, stress (I recently moved from the LA area to the Charlotte area and that was stressful), or an underlying health issue that’s causing the hair loss, but I’m willing to do what it takes to get to the bottom of it and to try whatever might work to help me get my beloved hair back Thank you Jonathan for all that you do and for being so passionate about creating truly amazing products that address all the issues we face with our tresses. It’s obvious that you care and that you want the best for us

Ishtar Saiyady: Okay, so like I almost started crying when I found this channel and all these glorious hair tips! I got my JVN line of products and my hair and I are on cloud 9. But like...you said you like helping people that ask for help-- JVN, you glorious human, will you do my hair?

Theresa Sestina: Jonathan, oh my God Queen! You are amazing! You are honesty tells the true story when it comes to hair and loving people... You're honesty keeps me coming back to class! Absolutely adore your inspiration and energy! Thank you!

Deby Nash: I've now got your entire line, Jonathan (I'm using the Nurture) and after just a month, am seeing a gradual improvement. I finally love my curls !

Kirsten Webster: Great content! I had a baby 10 months ago and decided to grow out my colour when I fell pregnant so the advice for growing out hair (including some grey) and postpartum hair loss really resonated. Thank you!

Erin Mullen: You're one of the only stylists that doesn't seem to be pushing your products just to sell them. I can tell how passionate you are of your line and everything I've tried from you has been a miracle for my hair!

niha: This is my first time at your hair school and guess what I already love it! You are the best here, I want to share my experience or you can say struggled with hair from 9th grade until now, I'm 23 now, and losing my hair is a big concern for me, and I am sick of it. I used to have thick, strong, and long hair but not anymore I want peace in my head forever. Can you help me with dealing with this problem that'd be awesome? a lot of love and good wishes for you and your humorous and amazing team out there.

Scarlet Vanessa: I love your videos. They are so informative, and I learn things I had never thought about. Thank you for all you do! ❤️

Astrid Espinosa: Here after 7 tips for healthy hair. Can’t believe there’s so much I didn’t know about hair care, I’m surprised I’m not bald thanks for sharing JVN.

Bitchen Boutique: I totally vibe with Autumn and not getting haircuts… I got a bad haircut in like 1986 and I did nothing but trim off the ends of my long hair until like 2003. I AM NOT KIDDING. I didn’t even know what to do with my hair because it had just been hanging long and wavy for all that time!! Then I met a beauty school student who literally designed a perfect cut for me and I trusted ONLY HIM for a few years… and then one night we were at a friend’s house (WARNING THIS IS A HORROR STORY!!!) and I asked him if he had his kit cuz I needed a trim and we went outside so we wouldn’t hog the one bathroom in the house. NEVER GET A HAIRCUT NOT IN FRONT OF A MIRROR! That dude decided I would look so cute with “bangs” only when he asked me if I wanted them I said no and he ignored that and didn’t give me bangs he gave me the same awful mullet I got in 1986!!! I cried for WEEKS, y’all. Luckily everyone at that party ripped into him, including his boyfriend, because EXCUSE ME HOW DARE YOU NOT GIVE ME WHAT I ASKED FOR AND TRUSTED YOU TO DO. I wore pigtails for like a year to disguise the mullet while it grew out, and I was literally starting a new job at the time so I was like this quirky woman in her 40s who wore her hair in cute pigtails and I just went with it!!! The only sad part is I’ve never gotten that perfect bombshell haircut back. Close but not quite. That jerk did do something great and I haven’t figured out what. But he will never ever touch my hair again!!!

Jennifer BBB: Yay! Whenever I get my next pay - I’m investing in the large bottles of JVN hair products maybe the purple ones or the turquoise ones! ☺️ Thanks JVN truly

Lord Farquaad: JVN I shit you not, you LITERALLY get cuter every time I see you!! BLESS you for being the watchdog for my personal care routines. Btw, my skin wants to send you a thank you card for the Shu Uemura oil cleanser recommendation I got from your podcast!! That treasure changed LIVES, honey, including better baseline reactivity levels for two straight male friends w/ rosacea! She is out here doing the LORD’s work, people!! Recognise! I fukkn love you! ‍♂️

rannricki: My heart! I am “embracing my grey/white” for the first time now that it’s getting warm enough to get back in the pool and my color slips so fast and I needed your comfort. I am paranoid I look crazy (4N/CH to 40% white) and the salon consultation was bonkers. With your gorgeous strength I will try to be patient! All love x

Tyler Hicks: I’m a guy who lost buzzed his hair out of frustration because I wanted to start with a blank canvas so to speak! I have such coarse hair and deal with frizz. I noticed when it was longer it was breaking? I’m a minimalist when it comes to haircare so any help I’d appreciate! Love the channel so much ❤️

Anneke: Your volumizing shampoo and conditioner has completely changed my hair! I’ve been using it for 3 months and have thrown out all of my other products. Thank you!

GartenMama: My hair questions were also answered, although I didn´t asked. (Maybe I should think about using instagram, too) I am so reassured now, because you explained the problem with hairloss due to pregnancy and after. I have the same problem, my daughter is now 2,5Y and it seems to me that I have only 1/2 as much hair on my head as before the pregnancy. I have no bald spots or something like that, but I am now pregnant again... I really hope that after this pregnancy I do not lose the other half of the hair as well!! But when you say, that it will come back - I believe. I am trusting you, Jonathan! When it doesn´t come back, I will call QE !! That would be funny, I think! Whatever.... You did a really good video - as always. Love it and love you!!

Brooke Myers: Pre scalp oil and vitamins combo has made my hair grow like 4 inches so quick! I’m growing out from a lob right now

Mel: Question from a 35 yo Queen: Does teasing cause baldness? For example, I tease the sides of my scalp and lock it in with 4 sprays of OGX volume hairspray on each of the 4 sections. I gently comb it out at night and repeat in the morning. P.S. No worries if you don't reply. Still ❤️ you.

Corrin Voeller: Jonathan! Your hair care line is to die for!!! My daughter used my shampoo and conditioner from the JVN line and came up to me and said “please buy me this stuff! I need it!” It’s so good! The heat protectant is everrrrythang!!!

Era Woodson: *On Set Of QE* Bobby/Karamo/Tan/Antoni: Hey, this hero looks great! JVN: *sees that they are named Ashley* Also JVN: *spontaneously combusts*

Table for Two Show - Phil and Jane: After a long stressful day at work, it’s always nice to watch you, as you make me smile.

JenXStv: You literally make my life better just by seeing your face thank you for being the stunning Queen you are

Kiki Gilmer: I simply adore you so much. ❤ Also I got your new book last weekend and I'm about half way into it. Thank you for everything.

shrimp noodles: Yes JVN thank you for keeping us up to date !

Freckled One: You shine like a diamond, JVN. <3

Teresa Fino: I'm 62 and consider myself fairly health & beauty savvy. I still learnt something new today. Love YOU. Love your work. Can't wait to see you downunder in Melbourne!

Louise: I use JVN’s Embody shampoo and conditioner and air dry cream for my fine grey hair! The shampoo and conditioner give my fine hair body without being too drying. I don’t used heat tools on my hair so the Air Dry cream is perfect and smells fabulous! These products are also reasonably priced. Thank you JVN! Love your channel!

Emmaline Voorheis: I’m an athlete who swims a lot during the week, and my poor hair keeps breaking at my hairline because of my cap do you have any suggestions?

Natalie Uygan: I loooove your videos so much ! You are truly amazing!!!! I love your energy and positivity!!

Trinity Trout: the timing of this video thank you queen Jonathan! my hair needed you

Georgia Elizabeth Walton: Omg i Never knew that hair dressers were looking at what we have and not just playing with our hair and making small talk about what we want. shook

Julia Linnette Martinez Vazquez: Im transitioning. Embracing my curly hair and I got your entire line. Im so happy I did. Just need clarification on how to use the serum

KathieExplores: Wish I could see more reviews of your product for people with thick curly hair. I've just learned how much moisture my hair needs and beginner in using products in general. I thought frizz and tangles was my life lol. Love your vids!

luv2garden1: I adore you, Jonathan ❤️ I purchased some products yesterday, can't wait to get them! I don't like silicones, on my face, in my hair, on my clothing....

Rebecca Fenaughty: This video answered so many questions I had that I never asked you! Thank you!

Erica: Hey Jonathan! Do you think you could maybe do a video where you go through the different curl types (2A-4c) and talk about the best haircuts and products for them? I'm a baby 2b-2c with no clue. Last time I tried to get my haircut the hairdresser ASSURED ME she had done curly cuts before. She BRUSHED my hair, put in seasalt spray and accidentally cut a section WAY shorter than all the others. Left looking like a frizzy mess and havent dared get my hair cut again since (2 years :((( )

Angie L: Love you!!!!!! I have been listening to the second book. It’s so inspiring xxxx

Komaljit Kaur: I love you Jonathan and I hope JVN launches soon here at Singapore! Watching your videos encouraged me to keep my curls and blond my hair. Love you and your videos

Rabbit: Since this video asks about hair growth, and haircuts, What haircuts do you recommend for balding men to keep them from doing combovers to hide the balding? Thank you for the awesome videos!

Just Today: Hey Gorgeous JVN!!!!!! Has anyone told you how absolutely stunningly awesome you are yet today ????????? Well if not, then this is from all of us:  YOU ARE AWESOME JONATHAN AND WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!
