Hey everyone kaylee your friendly neighborhood hairstylist here and today i'm going to show you how you can use one curling iron, three different ways: okie dokie. So yes, today, we are learning three different ways to use your one curling iron. I feel like as long as you have a one inch curling iron. You can do most anything, so i want to show you guys. I want to elaborate on that stance, but i also want to tell you guys about something really cool, so we're going to be using a lot of heat today, and i wanted to tell you guys about this new line that i recently got to go. Do a photo shoot for in new york city, justin anderson, the amazing celebrity colorist, whose work you have most definitely seen his line. Dp hugh released a new styling line and because justin is a colorist, he wanted to bring on a stylist for the line and he brought on me. Can you believe my little heart has not stopped doing this ever since i got the call, so the color fresh styling line is all about styling products that help to protect your hair, color from shifting fading or dulling and they're able to do that by making sure That every single product has a clear base, protects against uv rays and heat, and every single one is water soluble. So it's not going to build up on your hair. Where has this been all my life, whether you realize it or not? Your styling products can really affect your hair, color and so thinking about hair color, while formulating styling products. No amazing, as part of being like the stylist on this team, i got to actually go to new york city and be part of the shoot for the campaign. I got to sit down with justin to film some videos and you can check out dp hughes socials to see those when they go up and also you know what today we're going to show you how to do the hair that i had on set that day, Which is what i'm wearing right now hairstyle number two and a hairstyle number three is actually inspired by the other model that was there on same day. I was crazy. Her hair was amazing and i felt like we need to recreate that as well. Hope that you guys enjoyed this video of all the different ways to style your hair with the same curling iron and with all that said, let's jump into it. Also hello welcome camera b. I have wanted to have two camera angles for the longest time, and you know what i finally did it at first. We have this sleek hairstyle, which for me, is kind of a faux blowout hairstyle for this one. We have to start out by talking about the base that you're working with, because we're not applying heat to all of the hair with this one. So you do want to go ahead and start out with a straight ish base, whether that is your natural hair texture, whether you've used a round brush and a dryer or a dryer brush to get your hair, mostly straight or you're, working with second third, fourth: fifth: Whatever day hair - and you just want to reinvigorate it a little bit so what i've done for my base today is to use the leave-in mist to damp hair. This thing is packed with benefits like detangling bond building, hydrating heat protection, everything you need and then i just added a little dollop of the color fresh blow-dry cream. This adds smoothness and shine and helps to fight against humidity, and then i did what i always do and i created a wind tunnel with my hair dryer. Until my hair was dry - and here we are now - it's not bad honestly, like the shine and the smoothness are already there, but i just want to take it that one little bit further. So it looks like i did the style. So let's talk about the method. You'Re going to go ahead and section your hair into two and for this we're essentially going to use our curling iron, like a straightener, so you're going to take your section and you're going to clip the curling iron in about halfway through the hair and you're. Going to turn it and then slide it slowly through making sure to really curve it at the ends. So from that, you can see that we have a lot more smoothness, it's more sleek and you also get that little bends at the ends. Now, let's let down the next layer and just clip up the very last little bit now for a style like this, you do want to work in larger sections and that's going to help to soften the bends of the curling iron. That way, you don't end up with any kind of harsh bumping under at the ends. It creates a nice smooth bend rather than like straight and then, and if you want, you can get a little closer into the roots. If you have any areas that are still more wavy than you're going for and now, let's lay down the last section now, the most important thing with this method is that you want to make sure that the hair is going straight into the curling iron and it Isn'T interrupted by the clip coming down on top of it if the clip causes the hair to bend you're going to end up with a crease that is not going to look good, all you have to do is make sure that the hair is going straight into The bend of the curling iron with the clip and you're good to go then, finally, for my very long curtain, bangs we're going to curl them straight down, as if i had short bangs but longer, and there you go. I'Ve been doing this for years and years and years when i'm running out the door like throw the blow dryer at my head as fast as i can hit the ends go. I can do this in like five to two minutes, depending on how much time i have - and i like doing it with my curling iron, because you get the band without having to try it's just a great all-around method. Also, can we appreciate the shine okay now on to the second way that you can use your curling iron? This is the one i had on set for gpu and i noticed that the stylist madison hi girl, you're amazing, used a different technique than i normally do, and i love it. So, let's talk first things. First, heat protectant um, guys i'm the model for this product. What that's that's wow, so this is the color fresh thermal protection spray and it is my new favorite because you get heat protection up to 450 degrees. You get frizz fighting, you get humidity resistant and it is light weight and i mean lightweight. You can use it day after day after day, and you don't notice, build up on your hair and i have tiny, tiny, baby hair strands. So if i don't feel like it weighs your hair down, it doesn't weigh your hair down, so yeah big fave. Definitely definitely love that product now that it's in our hair we're ready to curl we're going to start off by sectioning, because that is important, and now we can go to work on curling the hair. The way you want to curl the hair is that you're going to first run the iron over the roots a few times to get them warm and ready to curl. Also, if you have any texture at your roots, it helps to kind of smooth it out, and then i just want you to get the top half of your hair on the curling iron, so you're gon na clip your hair in the middle and roll it up. After that's heated up you're just going to unwind a little bit, so you have some more slack in the hair, because if you're up here, you really can't do anything and then you want to duck the nose of the curling iron underneath your root section, because right Now it's behind the root section and we want to duck it under and bring it to the front. Now, you're just going to slide out to the ends of your hair and roll it back up and let it all go, and i really like it, because you still get that classic curl look. But it's just broken up enough to look a little cooler. So one more time through you're going to be curling, the first half of your hair, so your roots and then a couple extra inches. You want to loosen up the curling iron, so unwind it a little bit and then duct the tip of it. Underneath the root and then slide out to the ends, roll it up to that halfway point and then let it off and you're going to do that at the nape section of your hair and then through the second layer of hair and you'll, be right about here. Okay, just because i want to be a little extra, i'm going to split this last bit in two and for the shoot we curled everything away from the face. So that's what i'm doing here. I do recommend anytime you're going to try a new curling iron technique. Do it with the cold curling iron, because it's just like learning a new dance or a recipe, or anything like that. You have to get all of the pieces together in your brain and it's a lot easier to do that without the threat of heat. So just practice with the cold iron until you're feeling good, then add the heat element in and now i'm on to my final section and for these pieces right next to my face, i noticed that madison actually curls my hair a little lower down than i normally Do and i thought it looked so good - we've done we've curled, we've got lots and lots of pretty little wavy curls going it's time to break them up. Ah, it looks so pretty, and i want to finish this off with a little bit of dp hue color fresh dry, texture, spray. It adds volume, texture and delicate hold, and what i love is that on me it doesn't cause my hair to look extra dry, get tangly more easily. I don't know how they did it, but they did. That is how we did my hair for the dpu shoot. I have been wearing it so much since then. I hope you guys give it a try, because it is a great intro into those kind of new curling techniques, and it looks so good all right now on to our third texture, this one's a little bit more curly, i'm very excited about it again. This was inspired by one of the models on set and it just looked so good. I hope i can do it justice, let's find out. First, let's just do a little heat protectant refresh. Look at that shine though so for this one. We are once again going to be working in sections going up because we want to be able to access the root of every single curl. We do okay for this method. You want to work in as small of sections of hair as you can maintain and you're going to wrap it around the curling iron, keeping each wrap right next to the other one as much as possible. Let the clip of your iron close and twist it up closer to the root, to make sure that you have all of the hair on that iron. Once it's all heated through, you can let it off the iron and do not touch it until it is cool there you go, you can already see how much springier that is than the other curls we were doing. What we're going to do from here is continue. Curling in the same size, sections and you want to alternate directions back and forth, making sure that everything around your face is going away from the face. Honestly, if you can get through this bottom section, you can do everything it is so hard to reach. Okay, let's drop down the next section. You know how, for our very first hairstyle, you kind of want to have a straighter texture. This one would work really well if you already have some curls in your hair, and you just want to touch them up whether it's your natural waves or a heatless wave that you did overnight whatever this is a nice little thing, you can add into kind of A wavy curly routine alrighty last section. Now, if your hair doesn't like to hold this curl as tightly, you can always clip the curls up to cool which i'm going to do with my last section. These sections show the most so, if you're going to like, go quick and take bigger sections at the beginning and put in all the effort at the top of your head, because that's where it shows the most. These are all nice and cool. So we can take them down: okay, okay, guys we have some curls. I think you guys know. What'S next, we've got to break these apart. I want to go super gently and use big, bear claw, fingers and just kind of go through the middle to ends. I'M going to add in just a little bit more of the dry texture spray through my roots, which is actually my favorite way to apply that spray by the way. And then i'm going to grab the dp hue color fresh touchable, hairspray to finish off and i'm just going to do a little spray and scrunch and there you go. This is our more curly texture. I love it. I love this one to throw into a wavy, curly routine or just give yourself a faux, wavy curly moments, and there you go. That is three different ways to use one curling iron, i'm pretty proud of myself. I wanted three different looks that looked way different and i think we did that today. Let me know if you want me to do another one. I think i've got at least one more of these in me. Let'S just see if we can make it happen, and i hope you guys will go through the links in my bio to check out the dpq color fresh line. I love it also check out dp hughes socials to see the videos that justin and i did together. We had so much fun filming them, i don't have. I don't have enough good words to say. I really don't think that i've ever seen like a full styling line with color protection come out and i really love it. I both love it because i love innovation and i love developing new things in the hair space and i love it when things just work and i got both of those - i hope you guys try them out. I recommend so so so so much. But that being said, i think that is it for today's video, if you did enjoy it, be sure to hit that like button to help support my channel and if you're new here you can hit the subscribe button to join the braidaholic family. Here i'm kaylee melissa and all y'all can hit that bell icon to be notified every time i post a new video, but that's it for today, whether you're, old or new or a casual lurker. Thank you for spending time with me and i'll see my next video bye. I can hear justin screaming through the camera at me to try the texturizing powder with this. Is he actually screaming at me? No, i'm just pretty sure he would be or will be when he watches this. Oh, my gosh hello volume justin. I heard you telepathically through time and space you're right. This was the move. This looks so good. My hair has never been this big and touchable at the same time, i'm so glad it's date night tonight. Okay, that's officially it for today, bye

Should I try making ponytail stronger or weaker, change hairtyes or something else?

As the Crowe Flies: Best takeaway - practice the method with a cold curling iron. Practice until you have muscle memory retained. So sensible, but I never thought about practicing. Brooklyn Shelton: I do the last one all the time but instead of leaving it like that I like to do it the night before or a few hours before to let it fall a bit and when I do it before bed I don’t do anything to it I leave it down and use a silk pillow and this works wonders

Noelle Carr: Besides this heat protectant that you used in this video do you have other heat protectant that you like that does not have a strong odor?

_luxylove_: If my clamp curler pulls my hair horribly when I slide it down the hair like you did in look #2 does that mean it’s a cheap metal or a bad quality curler?

Alissa: What curling iron are you using?

Jamie Lowe: I really wish I could use this but I’m allergic to perfume and fragrance

JaJa_Jupiter: Do you know silicon and alcohol free heat protection sprays? I tested some but they all didn't work that well.

Mary Smith: A serious question for ❤Our Friendly Neighborhood Hairstylist❤ or any viewers that have a favorite: what is the best brand of hair ties? Is there a magical variety that offer secure hold, are durable, and yet don't pull our precious hairs out?

Misty Kooser: Can you please share what curling iron this is?

kyles1981au: Is there a way to adapt style 2 curls to a wand without a clip???

Madeline Brock: Can you do a video on Olaplex hair care? I've heard so much about it
