All right who needs a haircut if you're stuck in quarantine and you need your hairs, trimmed! Well, you can't go to you see your stylists right now. I normally don't put DIY stuff on my channel, but today I'm making an exception for you. I'M not going to show you how to trim the perimeter which perimeter meaning the lane. That'S quite a bit more difficult to do. If you really really want to me to do that kind of below and I'll do that, for you we're just focusing on maintaining or maintenance until you can get back to see your stylist today, I'm showing you an easy way to do your layers. That'S the same way, your hair stylist does because we use guides and they follow guys, that's just more work than I think you really need right now. So what I'm going to do is just my layer. My hair is naturally curly in it. It'S not doing it all what I want it to do, so I will go in and trim my layer. Your hair only grows about a half inch per month depends on the person, but just know that when you go to trim your hair, because if it's only been two months since you've seen your stylist you're, not gon na want to cut three inches off. Unless, of course, you want more off, but if you're trying to maintain what you have and kind of do what they do, then then be careful much for cutting off. You have like a pixie cut or something like that. This isn't gon na work for you. What I do the bangs that will help, but so what I'm actually going to do, because I don't want you guys to get the perimeter an accent, you're gon na kind of go where the temples are temples and then looking in my screen right here. So I can see what I'm doing so: temples not like low temples but like up atop of your temples. So you almost like your eyebrows, are and kind of go up a little bit and then stop and then go straight back and meet in the middle. With your hair, now, if you have a mirror, you can go check and make sure you have all your hair. You know you're just gon na take the coal and you're gon na comb. It up make sure you, so you can pull it, lay it there. So a lot of your hands pull up hop and I will you'll be able to see what I'm doing, don't worry and here falling everywhere, my hair. Does it all the time because I literally go for days without washing it or combing it through so so you're? Basically, just going to go straight up a top of your head and I want to make sure it's as smooth as possible. Take your time make sure you keep all the hairs in your hand. Okay, now you have all this hair right, Wow, a stylist. We use our fingers, but your pincette might pull it up. The reason I want you to do this is this budget apology pens, because I don't want you to have to worry about take it. If you only do some one section at a time, then I you know you need to blend it into the previous section, and I just don't want to get that far get that deep into it to you guys because they make it more difficult. So what I'm gon na do you can come from this honeycomb to the side I like to come from inside my Coleman, so stick in there and I'm gon na pull up and my fingers are gon na go over it underneath, like scissors, make sure you have All they're here and then pull up and turn it. So you can see it. So it's a lot easier now cause it's under the haircut. I keep the hair like this, but it doesn't matter which way you move up down lies your fingers, have a grip on it, it'll stay and then by now your hands are probably tired, so you're gon na see that hair right there. Now I usually do this over my bathroom sink, but I'm in my little studio thing right now, so I have my towel lay down if it gets loose time, yeah cause it keep talking, do it again from behind, follow it up straight up, bring it down. I trim my layers couple ways to go: don't need too much off, but then you're gon na kind of slowly just go in there and point cut, don't cut straight up and down because you're gon na have a blunt line just go in softly. If you have like longer hairs, they came to them or you can cut it like that and then motley. If you have actually here cutting shears or something that's similar to it, you put your ring finger in the hole. Then your thumb is what moves the scissors? You don't go like this there's. No, you know see. I can't even do that and you don't go like this cuz you're not gon na, have as much control. You need to put your ring finger in here pinky. If you have a lot of these things. Pinky goes there and thumb is what moves this blade up and down now, if you have kitchen shears, I guess I can't really help you there you'll have to find the most comfortable way to do it. Most of you know where your bangs are. So I get your bangs out. If you don't, are you trying to just give yourself things? No, and you don't have any right now I just kind of follow my hairline. I don't have bangs per se. I have face framing, but I have some so whether your bangs are shorter than mine or not. You can follow this, I'm loving them the viewfinder real quick. I have a lot of colics. So, okay, now what you'll do? Did you take your bangs and actually you almost might want to do this dry and dry here. You can see more where they are and you don't want to pull too hard. You don't need them straight because they don't lay me actually like that right once you. Let go of them they're gon na go into their natural habitat, their natural position, so don't pull it taut and pull them down softly, and if you do straight across bangs, then you'll pull them down and then like loosen up and then they'll go in link that You want off and then I'd have you like go in and you know remember just move your thumb and trim those ends up. Okay, I do my angle, not part it. There move this over here, tuck it out of the way, and if you want, like an angle angle, you've probably seen your sigh. Let'S do this, they take your bangs and you pull it over this way and then the Trump cuz you look at this line once you let go of that. That'S gon na go this way to see how this is going to be longer than this corner here. So you'll find the corner where you want it say like maybe I want mine to my chin, so the furthest piece over here I'll take to my chin, loosen it up, and none of those you know come on piece off of it drop it then you're going To play pretty much connected that you're gon na bring your hair over here find your, which my piece is right. There find that and then your face is just going to make sure your fingers are angled, there's my piece and trip and then once you bring it back over here I'll be longer. Now, when I'm texturize that you have really thick bangs, I don't. But if you did that after you're done, you would take this piece up the. Let me some corners there and you would take those off and then, when you lay them down with you, then they'd be a lot softer. Now I'll take my side over here and then just the same thing, you can bring that over meet it and trim it. I don't for face screaming. If you have layers you don't need to separate. I don't have I have layers, so I don't need to separate. If you only have one length of a haircut, but you want some face framing then I would separate an inch away again. Just like you did go this way and then that's the what you would layer and that's what you would face cream. I don't I have layer, so I don't need to do that since I already have bangs I'm going to actually use the existing bang to blend into my space. For me. Have banks then you're just going to go ahead and find if you, wherever you part. So if you part on the side, you're going to take a piece from that side or right in front of that part - and there goes see exactly where you want your face framing and that's where you're gon na start. Okay, I already have that accomplished because I did my bangs and I'm literally then I just comb hair forward and again you're, just gon na have to pinch with your fingers and then see where you can see that transition where it's short and then long slide slowly. You can bring it forward and hope you see it. Here'S really thin and trim it off a little bit goes a long way. You can always do more or if you're not comfortable doing that, you could actually meet, and then you kick this kind of with your thumb again. This motion just kind of go down and slither it down through the hair, really softly me. I don't like that corner there. Other sides always tricky, so I pull my hair through now, there's the shortest piece. So I stopped that, but I'm gon na bend my fingers per se and that's what I'm gon na cut, don't cut yourself. This is more difficult and it's gon na take some time. You know to get used to you know. This is your first time doing it. It'S gon na be really awkward, um yeah. By the way I will be. I have my um wax pot on right now. I'Ve actually been growing them out because I've been waxing and then some tweezing and waxing and on my came home anyways I might as well let them all grow and get nice and bushy. So I can start fresh and get on a schedule there. You have it. Don'T take too much don't take too many chances. Hair does grow back, and I have some fun and play around then do that, but just know that it's always easier to cut more off than it is to put it back on alright guys. Courtney B: To stylist who may not agree with me doing DIY hair tutorials to my channel normally I would not have done this. However, right now, life as we know it has changed drastically for EVERYONE. This includes people who who are unable to see their stylist to get their color or cut done. For a lot of people, this is a big percentage of how they feel better in general. Now, they are stuck at home, no income, couped up which is leading to a rise of depression and anxiety. Or maybe they are still working, at the grocery store, at the hospital etc and feel like they look atrocious. What if, just for the sake of their sanity because if you think that you doing this means you won’t be needed threatens your existence, just know that doing their hair themselves at home has always been an option for them and yes they already knew this. But even those who normally would go to their stylist right now CAN NOT. Not by choice. But by force. Now is the time to give hope and simple advice to people that support us. Everyone has the right to feel good and look good!

Ironbutterfly 🦋: After looking online for days your video was EXACTLY what my hair needed. It turned out GREAT !! Thank you for getting straight to the point ✂️ !!

robynbirde: Thank you for showing the techniques in such a detailed way, this is really helpful!

Alice Moral Denis: THANK YOU!!! I think many stylists are afraid to do videos like these for fear they lose clients. Trust me that will not happen! I will never achieve the color, cut, style, bliwdry, etc. that I have when leaving the salon. Also, many of us are going to screw up so you people will be busy, overbooked busy! And you know if my stylist did videos like you are it would lead to even more loyalty knowing he/she is looking out for the customers I’m times like these. Thank you, these videos will never be the real thing but it keeps us a semi-maintained mode. I know many people say hair shouldn’t be the priority right now or one’s concern, but I disagree to a certain extent because we are home bound, it gets depressing at times, more so for many who are alone in their homes. People are eating more + more sedentary that the norm. If I can entertain myself doing my hair, a manicure, etc., it helps give people a little boost, and it’s something to do. Ok, no more, lol. Thanks again. ❤️

Melodie Frances: Thank you. This is what I needed. Something that will make me look good enough until I am able to go to my hairdresser again. Much appreciated.

Sharon Arnold: Very well explained

Austin Bradley: Impressive

Rina Frutos: Thankyou appreciate it :)

Ashley Hudson: Can you use a pony tail or what do you do if your hair is too long to reach top of half pony tail

linda alden: When you say blend in with your fringe, how do I do this with a shorter fringe, like just at my eyebrows, if I blend at this length wouldn't it like wrong

Connection of Lives & Interests 2020: *I enjoyed your video. Thank you. * Sharon in SC
