ABOUT ME: Hi guys! My name is Alyona. I was born in Russia. I'm a musician. And I love art, makeup, fashion, style and beautiful environments. I love playing with makeup and fashion, but at the same time, I’m quite a minimalistic person. I don't like the idea of being fixated on the body too much. I have an alternative and unconventional viewpoint on beauty, the body types and face shapes. I love helping other women find their "it" and finally discover their beauty and boost their confidence.

I have several series on my channel that you might be interested in such as: Body Types, Contouring, Makeup History and Makeup Transformations. Also some random beauty hacks about skin care, hair, nails and beauty in general.

Okay, so would you look good with short bangs or baby bangs or mini bangs or micro bangs, whichever you call it? It is turning into another series on my channel because i already did. Would you look good with blonde hair? Would you look good with black hair? Would you look good with the bob hairstyle? I have another video about banks just overall banks. Would you look good with banks in general? You can check this out. It'S very interesting because i'm talking about both structure of your face and stuff like that about many many other things today, i'm gon na be more specific about short bangs, because short banks is not same as um, regular size, banks or long banks. It'S all very different accessories. I can call it as an accessory. I do think that banks is more an accessory than a haircut, even though it is a haircut of course, but it changes essence very much. Even the length of your hair is not changing the essence. So much as the short bangs, so it's very easy to change style completely by having these short bangs or not having the short bangs so see. The the short bangs is a very small detail, but it can change the whole vibe the whole outfit. You can change everything which is interesting. It'S just this tiny detail so to understand this or this accessory, and in our case it's a small bangs. We need to describe it. How does it look like so it's it looks small. It looks geometric, it looks sharp. It looks horizontal, it looks delicate, it looks symmetrical, it looks flat. Basically, it's a small stripe on your body. Of course they can be different, they can be dressed differently and, of course, a lot of things depend on the uh texture of your hair. Your hair can be curly, uh, straight wavy and so on and so on, and also it matters how you cut it. You can cut it very straight and blunt, so all the little hair will be same length or you can cut it in pieces slightly sheer on the ends, so it would not be that thick and that geometric, so that also influences on the overall look and we're Gon na now discuss so as far as i already described that feature as being small, geometric, delicate and sharp. So this is basically the face. It would look great on the face that has delicate bone structure. That is pretty small. That'S pretty sharp facial features, and that has some geometry going on in the face. Some faces are very rounded, and all the outlines of the face are whether very rounded or very squarish, but soft wide with some flesh on top some faces can be very bony, very, consisting of angles and sharp edges, so those small faces with those sharp edges. They look from my viewpoint, the moons, the most in balance with these short bangs small facial features, small bangs, delicate facial features, delicate things. Sometimes i think that can be a conflict because between the overall look and the banks - and it happens when imagine a woman with large bone structure, a slightly wide, slightly squarish - imagine she's wearing something boho natural hanging on her unconstructed with loads of interesting unconstructed patterns. Something not geometrical at all, something that is not drawing her silhouette in a certain way very relaxed. She has very relaxed hair layered with undefined ends that her ends are not geometric and then, on top of all that she has this very geometric small things. I think this is when it's becoming out of sense, not even out of proportion out of proportion too, but even sometimes the proportion matches the sense doesn't match. For me, it just doesn't make sense, maybe in some cases that could look pretty interesting. We'Re gon na discuss some of the looks. Some of the interesting looks in the end of this video, so i'm gon na. I just found some interesting pictures for you just so we would discuss like how it looks like what is what message is bringing to us, but just in general you see what i mean yeah, so we can have sometimes the conflict of shapes, but it's not always A bad thing, the conflict on shapes, because, especially now in the modern world, we have conflicts of shapes everywhere. Every cover of the magazine now has it they don't try to match things they own country. They try to create that edge, create that unharmony unbalance in some look, but that's a different situation, because the way they are creating it with a certain light, with a certain photography with a certain bone structure of a lady. They do have certain vibe in that, and they do have certain why they did it, but some women they do it just because they liked that small banks on this girl that they just checked her pictures yesterday and they love her. That looks so they did it tomorrow. They will love and another woman in that very unconstructed dress and they get it so and they become combined combination of things that don't match or things that don't have any sense. Let'S get a feeling of it: go into the history a little bit, i'm not a historic on myself. I love history of fashion, very much history of makeup history, beauty in general, so maybe first geometric banks were found many thousand years ago in egypt, cleopatra right. Egyptian people, they loved everything geometric, so their houses, their chairs, their furniture, their their dresses, their hairstyles and even their makeup was pretty geometric. It consisted of very precise lines, very sharp lines. It was very defined. It was very geometric, so that kind of a bangs can remind us a little bit of that culture right slightly egyptian culture, then a bit later jean dark. So there was a lady, the warrior she probably cut her hair shorter. There are some drawings, where she's wearing that small fringe there's just some information that we have from the those times um. In some pictures. She actually is wearing different kind of hair. What i've read that she did cut her hair short and she did have like, like a short bangs on front too. So that makes sense from the practical viewpoint to have that kind of a short bangs and that short hair in general uh. When you are fighting, then we have amazon women, amazon riemann. I don't know also correct me if i'm wrong, that's some information that i found amazon women women warriors. Maybe they didn't have that short bangs, but this is what sometimes we can see in different movies, how they looked long hair. We don't know if they had long hair. Probably they did a long hair and then they had some kind of a band band-aid. Here some kind of a stripe, and maybe it had some kind of a religious meaning or it was something that was holding again their hair on the side. So it would not fall down on their face when they're in a battle or they're fighting or just they're. Just riding on a horse - and in this case that short bangs, sometimes it does look like this hairband you see, so it does look like like a symbol on those old asian times. They did use some kind of special jewelry metal things that were hanging on there on them. It was just many things had their own symbol, why they're wearing them so in this case the combination of the very short bangs and long straight hair. That looks a little bit like amazon woman. Then we go 1920s flapper bob yeah. It became very popular and actually the history of bob. You can watch this video. It'S very interesting. Also, i'm talking more about this type of a 20s bob in the 20s. We see that short banks and short straight bob. In 1950s we have pinup girls right, so women were curling their hair, so so their bangs were curled. So as the rest of the hair, everything was in harmony, you see, so, even if they did like a hair. Bun on on the back or updo of of the hair, the outline still was pretty rounded and made curled by curl. Their look was pretty certain in this case and the banks. If you look at that from the side, they were also pretty rounded. That kind of banks, of course looks slightly different on any face because it is already has this roller kind of shape. We'Re gon na talk about it soon. So it's so. You would see the difference. So this is more like a pin-up fringe. Sometimes maybe it could be more straight, but it still was slightly rounded. This is how we imagine a pin up women, rounded cheeks, rounded lips, rounded, nose, rounded eyes, rounded, hair and rounded small bangs. You see, 1960s audrey happened. Her bank sometimes was pretty blunt and geometric, but most of the time it was slightly wispy on the ends: boyishly tousled and curled slightly on the side, sometimes curled upwards, so it wasn't extremely sleek. Sometimes she could make it a little bit more sleek. So it would look more tidy, but the rest of her look also was more tidy, so so she would dress her accordingly to what is around here. So she could make it slightly fluffy just to give that more childish look, and she looked amazing in that. But at the same, at the same time, in the in the 60s, it was such an interesting fashion. Decade in london on the streets, you can see women wearing these short bangs vidal sassoon is a very famous hairdresser who started doing very geometric haircuts care by hair. It was so precise it was so exact, so the geometry of it was a revolution in in a haircut. Basically, a woman would not spend too much time curling her hair, all the time she would just wash and go so it would be hair by hair, very precise. So at the time in london also, women were wearing shorter, bangs and but the rest of their outfit was very, very geometric. Trapeze dresses right geometric shape, bob's very geometric shape, or it could be bob with curled ends, but it would be slightly curled bangs too, so that geometry was still very precise, but it was slightly rounded. It could be slightly rounded, but the outline was still very, very precise. In the 80s they started doing curly, hair perm right women with straight hair. They wanted their hair to be what like a wild mane, so they were doing permanent curls and they did have their bangs shorter, but those bangs most of the time were pretty tousled and also curly as the rest of their hair. So the overall look, it was pretty matchy because the oversized hair oversized bomber, for example, oversized pants everything was kind of slightly on. I don't care side, so that short fringe. It was pretty volumized and pretty tousled too. It wasn't flat on their face like that. So it didn't bring us any geometric element, so you perceived that type of a hair like the overall hair in the 90s. They started doing that small, sparse short bangs punk culture also became very popular at that time, and women started doing different piercing. They did it before they started doing it before, but in the 90s it just became like a movement. They had that short geometric things, but at the same time she could have. They could have some different colored hair, very intense, dark eye makeup, very intense brow makeup. Everything is exaggerated, they didn't need to make themselves look feminine or pretty, or something like this. It was a different idea. It was like a punk experiment protest. It was like more symbols than pleasing to the eye kind of situation, so you see historically, we can sometimes notice this or that element in the look and how it looks like within that overlook. Maybe there are more short bangs in the history of course, combined with different looks, but i just i'm just showing you that one, these short banks doesn't do much. It just starts doing much as a combination of all the rest of the elements. So what is around it? How is the rest of the hair is doing? What do you have underneath? What kind of outfit do you have and what kind of ideas even do you have about life and stuff? Let'S forget about the vibe for a second: let's go back to the proportions, so at the beginning of this video i already told you right so um short bangs is a very small, geometric piece on your body. So if you have, for example, small and delicate facial features that will probably can look proportionately good on, you doesn't mean that maybe you have different style of the clothes and everyday style different vibe. Maybe you don't want like don't feel like it, you don't want it, but it's a different story. If we only talk about the proportions and the the bone structure, then this is what's happening right. If you place something delicate to something delicate, something geometric to something geometric. Nothing is playing in a contrast, so it looks kind of like in harmony one with each other. Now, if your hair is straight, then these bangs is also flat. This is another word how we can describe this type of a bank banks. It is flat even longer uh banks. It is not as flat because longer hair, more air in between your forehead and this fringe, and so on. It'S just longer. Basically it's hanging here, it's just more material, so uh it has more air in it and shorter bangs. It'S basically lying on top of your forehead. If your hair is straight so maybe you remember, some people say never do small fringe. If your face is round because you will have this wide line and then your face will look even rounder because of this horizontal line. It'S not in every case. You also have to look at the profile of a person, because many asian girls who have rounded face they can look amazing with this short fringe, and why is that? Because the short fringe is flat. Their faces are also flat. If you look at the profile, many of their faces can be on a flat side, so their nose is not very prominent forward. Of course, all asian faces are very different, and some of them can actually have very prominent features, but that's what i noticed like those asian people who have pretty flat faces flat noses. That means like almost no shadows on the faces, so uh nose is so flat. So it's almost on the same level as their cheeks, so i think just because their face is so flat and the fringe is so flat. It looks very harmonizing on them, even though their faces can be very much on around your side, so that short fringe actually looks beautiful on them, and this is why many russian women, for example, or ukrainian women they have we have rounded faces, but we also have Prominent faces, if you look at the profile, some sometimes some faces have more prominent noses. Sometimes lips sometimes more prominent chin, sometimes more prominent cheeks and they can be white at the same time and our hair, i'm from russia right so and our hair is very often pretty thin and pretty straight. So when we do this short bangs, it's like a small hat here. It just doesn't have that air enough in it to repeat the facial prominent features. So sometimes it looks just too big of a contrast. This small, geometric and very flat element on not small, not geometric, and not flat face, so it starts working as an optical illusion and your face is just moon coming forward more now another thing, this small bangs - we can see it's small. It is small, especially if the shape is very geometric, then the shape is more understandable from the distance automatically everything that is very precise and sharp, it's more understandable from the distance so, and we can see that this short banks is small and it doesn't matter. What is the size of the forehead of a woman if she has, if she has longer middle part, for example, longer nose, part or longer bottom part of her face this? This part looks even smaller and it slightly visually can shrink the hair area. So her the top of her head, can look slightly more flat and those elongated parts of her face can look more elongated. Just as a contrast with this small and shortish element on her head, so i can shrink the hair situation here on top and automatically make it even larger here and make it larger here. So just be aware about this: if you have long face - or you have bottom part or middle part too, elongated there's another thing happening. That is called optical illusion. So this is the face here. We have the bangs right, so you pay attention on these lines, because this is the outline of your face. You pay attention on those two lines and it depends on where these lines are going before the fringe. For example, if the lines go straight here, then the illusion optical illusion, we kind of with our eyes can predict elongate the line here, and we think that some sometimes we might think that this face is just endless in there. It just goes up there like this. If the lines go like this, when we have perception that the face is gon na finish soon, so there's the end of the face here, so sometimes that kind of bangs can look like it's like a wig that just somebody put on top of your head. So it's kind of like floating on top and it's gon na fall down any time any moment. If your face goes this way, and then there's veins like this, so we can predict that face is going even wider in there, but at the same time everybody has different size of their forehead middle part. So, there's a lot of addition to it, not everyone with, for example, those lines can look similar person with, for example, whose lines go like this. She she won't look same as another person with similar lines just because uh the overall length of their face can be different. The width of their face can be different and and so on. Maybe they have that their hair also on the sides here so because that small bangs can actually be narrower here - and here you have your hair, for example - yeah can be narrower. So in this case, you are kind of covering the parts of your face here, and it can look pretty nice when you have this part very wide on the sides. Yeah and just central part of only is short banks, some women. They really make it very far. So their temples are opened, so it all looks like she shaved these parts and it looks more like punk style. It always looks more feminine, more soft. If you have hair here, because men are the ones who are shaving their temple area, so sometimes that happens too. So if you already have these bangs, you can just open your face and just look in the mirror and see what is the outline of your face like where is it going? Is it actually going narrower? Is it going straight? Sometimes, if it's going straight, then then your face really can look pretty elongated over there and have give the feeling give the feeling that is not ending in there. But it's just interesting to know in terms of like optical illusions: uh from my viewpoint, it's not influencing on the vibe and on the style very much, because proportion is once one thing and um the the vibe and the way you look in general is another thing. So i just think that in general, if your facial features are very like small, sharp, geometric and delicate, they can look pretty cute on you. But here you should see whether your face is closer to tomboyish, face or delicate and very soft, with soft cheeks soft lips, because in those two cases the two different short banks can be more harmonizing, for example, for a more dry and tomboyish more straight lips. Sharp nose, sharp eyes face more dry with the more torch cheekbones, for example, uh, not lush, not voluptuous, for you, probably that small, geometric and flat bangs would look amazing and for women with some full flesh on top just make your banks a little bit rounded because It also um. We also look at you from the side. You know so you just uh you just analyze your features, pin-up style, remember, yeah, so pin-up girls. They were very rounded forward. Their cheeks were rounded forward. Lips were rounded forward, so their bangs was also looking. The most beautiful when it was rounded now let me analyze some pictures that i found on internet and what is matching and what is not matching. So in this picture, what do we see? I see a little bit of a punk style combined with a little bit of amazon, woman, warrior kind of style, and maybe punk style actually goes from some kind of a warrior style. Maybe there's something something of an ancient warrior in them too. So you can see that her face is pretty long, her hair color, the way her fringe is looking the way her brows are looking. It'S telling me that she's more on a punk side, rather than an attempt to look kind of glamorous. That'S my thoughts very beautiful girl, but she has pretty normal eye makeup, so it's kind of like a combination. Now this is very typical. I think mistake from the photographer's side and people who are doing this photo session. For me, things are just not matching very well here, because the girl is very beautiful, very beautiful girl, but what's happening. She has that very interesting coat. The coat is very small. It'S slightly gothic, but it's very short. So it's kind of like rethinking about this right. So she looks slightly gothic too so people who, like gothic culture, people who, like that gothic vibe, they sometimes do very intense makeup, intense hair, color, very and they're wearing black, and they go to the forest with a lot of snow. Just give that some kind of mysterious medieval vibe of a fairy tale about the dragons, princesses and women warriors again we're coming back to women warriors. So from my viewpoint, the makeup itself is closer to a pin up girl, two precise brows for me that long hair with undone ends again. The haircut itself doesn't make sense to me. It doesn't match from my viewpoint to this makeup, so i just don't know what exactly she wanted to tell us like who, who is she like? Who does she want to be because the makeup is done very beautifully? It'S very perfectly done it's slightly too and more to a person too precise. From my viewpoint, it's too perfectly done and slightly exaggerated for her phase two. I think, because her face is not very sharp. Already looks slightly aggressive, especially with those brows brows can really change. Your look, brows can add so much aggressiveness if you're, making them very sharp shape and very precise and very dark very contrasted, especially. She has such a white skin so on that white skin that it looks even more aggressive than this bangs doesn't quite make sense. To me, combining with this long hair again this bangs and that long hair looks more like amazon woman. But then, if you're, amazon woman, you would probably wear a different outfit and absolutely different makeup, because amazon woman, she was more natural here for sure so yeah. So, for me, that fairy tale has some missing points. I don't quite connect them in this case. I think it just looks slightly old-fashioned from my viewpoint a little bit old-fashioned that uh mushroom natural hair color. On top of this mushroom hair color, you have those highlights which are yellow color just on the ends, then this combined with this kind of a haircut combined with this volumized blowout combined with this fringe. However, the structure of her face, i think, is very good matching to this kind of um over here. It'S just the the vibe itself, the hair vibe. I think we could choose something better for her for her features and for her vibe just in general. I think it's just the overall structure of the hair the blow blow out that the fringe everything is not matching very well. I think. Maybe it's just my personal preference, it's very it's very possible. So don't take my word seriously at all like what you see. That'S true for you again, we have same situation, looks like russian girl somewhere there platinum blonde platinum blonde is the hair color, that is weather natural for northern girl. Very northern girl with light eyes, light brows, light lashes and she has that white hair and then, when this hair is undone or this, hair has like a short fringe like, for example, in this picture right. So it's also pretty similar, also short bangs, also but different vibe, no makeup kind of like a woman warrior like um amazon woman. So it does make sense to me like old matches like a fits one shape fits another, but in this case it kind of doesn't match. The platinum blonde in this case is artificially made hair color in a salon, and they started doing this white hair color in old hollywood, when women had their short hair, curly or later straight, very bleached white hair color with the gowns with glamour. Something are artificial and then did maybe her fringe is not very short. It'S slightly on the shorter side, just because it's above her brows, she has pretty precise makeup again very precise makeup, the short bangs long hair. Again, i don't understand why it's artificially made, but it's like long hair and she's sitting. Obviously, with this precise makeup on the field among flowers again, the girl is very beautiful round soft slightly wide face face yeah. She made her fringe slightly rounded too yeah, but she made it very, very white, and then she has that straight platinum, blonde hair, floral, dress sitting very naturally in in the field so - and she made this precise makeup with this - contrasted brows, so woman, naturally having that Kind of a hair can't have this dark brown makeup again, maybe closer to pinup, but then it should be slightly pinned up here, slightly pin up here and maybe not in the field right so again, something like when they do these photo sessions. They don't ask themselves enough questions, i think they just get whatever like somebody wore this pretty somebody had this pretty somebody had this. It was pretty somebody had this. It was pretty combining this girl. She made her fringe asymmetrical. Her facial bones are quite large and quite elongated, so in this case i just don't understand. Why would she do this asymmetric fringe? She looks gorgeous. She looks amazing. I think she would look amazing with curtain bangs, maybe with slightly longer hair or if she doesn't want longer hair. She could still have same length but same front hair on the sides that would frame her big bone structure of her face so beautifully so yeah. It just doesn't make sense quite to me. Maybe it's like it was a punk side of her that it was just wanted just to do something unnatural, something irregular like when you're opening like that one side, but, on the other hand, yeah. I understand that everybody who's building their look. I don't think they everybody's trying to be very beautiful, harmonized, balanced and stuff people have different purposes actually, with their look, some disagree with somebody, so they want to express their disagreement within their look. So we don't know it's just. Maybe it was done on purpose this girl, i almost love it there's something that is not matching first, i couldn't understand why. First of all, we don't see her face very well and she's very beautiful. She is very rounded and very like a candy, her makeup. As far as she has red lips and not too much going on here, her brows are not very aggressive, so i can say that her makeup looks a little bit more to a pin-up. Aesthetic bangs is rounded here also looks more like a pin-up aesthetic, even though the banks is pretty flat or maybe a little bit rounded. She made it, but it's still pretty geometric, but this geometry she's not she's, not having that very straight line. Yeah she's, having that slightly a rounded line of her fringe, which is very nice because she has very rounded facial features. Probably it's a bob that is making me slightly confused glasses, also, i think very cute right there peanut glasses, actually, but probably it's just that geometry down here. Maybe if she had that updo or she had more rounded here, we have, i think, modern, pin up situation lips exaggerated with the aggressive brows black hair, like short bangs with black hair, looks slightly different than with white hair, as you noticed already with white hair. Again, it looks like a northern warrior woman in case she has something more natural here in terms of makeup and stuff and uh. If we talk about black hair, i think it's more like gothic or witch situation or again pinup yeah, peanut, girls, they're very contrasted. Some of them have very whether very bright white hair or bright, yellow, honey, hair or bright red hair or bright black hair. So many women who try to go after that pin-up look. They try to make their hair very, very black and have that short bangs like that, so pretty glamorous makeup yeah, i would say she, it's kind of like modern, pin up slash, gothic effect. This is another thing. This is again one of those things that i told you about white hair, pretty sheer ends of her hair, not geometric. On the bottom. Her face consists of blunt edges. They are not rounded, not very delicate, so her bones are quite her. Bones are slightly squarish, but they're rounded slightly. She has some flesh on top, but it's more like a muscular flesh. I would say so. Her face is not quite prominent, but it's not quite dry at the same time, so her fringe. It looks much drier than her face. I think it's too flat and too short for the rest of her face because of the proportion wise uh, her middle part, her bottom part longer, and that small fringe, it just shrinks that top part a little bit shrinks. That hair area a little bit so her hair looks a little bit more flat. Her head looks a little bit more flat and, as i contrast it plays like the face, is kind of coming forward a little bit and it's just looks a little bit bigger on the bottom and smaller. On top and again i don't see the match between hair color fringe and the rest of the hair. I just don't see the match. The rest of the hair has no definition. No geometry. It'S like hanging down there have um kind of layered ends. Yeah some hair can be pretty like undone on the ends and looks very beautiful, very natural, so they can have sometimes like sheer ends and it looks great. But in this case it doesn't make sense, freshly cut bangs, okay, but here yeah, it's like not matching. For me, it's not matching, and it's not matching the hair color too or that's it. It'S just my opinion. What is true for you is true, for you. Don'T invalidate your perceptions, that's just what i see and i just wanted to share with you. How i see these things and how i perceive those things? Let me know guys if you want to do these short bangs on yourself. If you changed your mind, uh and don't be, don't be worried. If you did it and you didn't like it, because hair is not teeth, it's growing back, so it will grow back pretty fast. You won't even notice this and right now you can just style it differently, for example, just notice if your facial features are slightly more rounded and cute just make it slightly more rounded too, maybe make this very cute updo and make that fringe a little bit more. Rounded or if you think that it's too geometric, when you just make it slightly more towels out just you know, curl it in different directions and let it be curly. For example, it can actually look pretty cool, like some women, they do have curly short bangs and it looks very, very interesting and romantic. Sometimes that is what can save the situation. If, for example, you have pretty prominent big and slightly wide and slightly squarish facial features, they that and - and you made for example, that short bangs that can sometimes save the situation just making it slightly uh tousled and making it making it slightly. Curly just give some air to this, give some volume. So if you have some volume on your face, give some volume to your fringe and that will change the whole situation for you and then you will just grow it back in time. So it's not a problem! SummerRocks50: With all due respect, you never know until you try. And even if it doesn't "suit" you according to aesthetics taught in society, doesn't mean you shouldn't even consider it. Personally, I don't have a symmetrical face, my bone structure isn't "pretty", my skin tone is hard to work with, I don't have any small rounded features, so trial and error is all I got. Most things don't "work" for me, but if it feels like *me*, I know it's right. I appreciate the videos, but I just had to say this because normal everyday women don't look like models and celebrities who have photogenic and versatile features.

Emily Vera: I love my short bangs thank god they're curly, when I straighten just for curiosity it was giving Lord Farquad realness.

Mei: I think you make such a good point about photoshoots where the "story" the photo is telling isn't cohesive, or where different elements are brought in without any thought or purpose behind them.

Jenny King: I liked what you said about the importance of the overall vibe of a look. I was thinking this about outfits for the body types too - we often focus a lot on the silhouette and how harmonised it is with the bone structure, but the overall vibe should also be taken into account

Burrito Sabanero: I appreciate you took time to make this video! I realized that many hairdressers don't take into account the person themselves when they recommend a hair style, it's like they think of the hair as a separate things. This is why we see people who could look better and I realized why I don't straight hair that many hairdressers like to do on me. My best hair style is my natural wild waves, as my face is like what you described on Russian women.

meow meow: 3:53 I completely disagree with you. I do hair for a living and personally I love a shag/mullet with a baby bang. I love layered hair with baby bangs in general. It is a juxtaposition and makes the style more interesting.

wabi_sabi: "What is true for you is true for you. Don't invalidate your perceptions" Thank you for such an in depth analysis, and for this refreshing perspective on beauty trends. I appreciate your take on how features, proportions and our vibe/essence influence how well certain hair colours and cuts will suit us, but also like how you reinforce that these are subjective opinions and we are all free to try whichever trends we like! Thanks for the fantastic and well-researched content!

NATALIA G: Great video. I would like to see one about very long hair and facial structures, vibe, general body type for it. I see SO many women with elbow length hair (extensions) and its just so unflattering

Selena Singh: I would love to see what type of makeup looks you’d recommend for women with natural dark liner around their lips and stained lids/under eyes. They’re traits I often come across in woc but there aren’t many makeup tips to enhance them/play them up. Love your content!

Fer GC: Omg I've been thinking constantly about getting short bangs for like a whole month or more, this is perfect

Christine S G: Thank you for this informative video! As an Asian woman I’ve always worried that because I don’t have a super geometric or “gamine-ish” face, I would never be able to pull off the baby bangs. Now I’m reconsidering.

Julia Raiani: me watching if I would look good with short bangs already having short bangs. Lol I love my bangs so much and everyone I see with micro bangs looks so interesting and cute.

Rene McCracken: Thank GOD you’re the only one I would listen to over this topic.

Distinct Loafer: I am very amazed at your content, such detailed analysis. Also I admire your way of speech, it's so rare these days to find someone who speak in such composed manner, not jitterly, fluent and precise, sufficient in adjectives and descriptions, not just "cute" "pretty". Apart from that, being able to share so much on the topic and extending to history, I'm utterly amazed, much respect.

Diana Banana: War flashbacks to high school when my mom cut my bangs too short but said they would be longer once they dried lmaoo I was so embarrassed to walk down the hall with bangs halfway up my forehead. Some women look amazing with short bangs, but I am definitely not one of them.

leesa tom: Wow! I accidentally cut my bangs too short and your in-depth analogy of the whole vibe matching the short bang accessory made me see my own mismatch and be able to fix it! Thank you!!!

ToastedBabybuns: I actually got short bangs accidently; I asked my husband to cut my hair and he accidently cut the front too short, giving me bangs. I had avoided them because I thought they'd look odd with curly hair, but they look pretty good! They hide my 5 head lol

Farni: Oh boy why don’t the hairdressers know this informations? I would love go to hair salon again but they don’t know what they do any like always I get some wired haircuts... some of them curled my curly hair... some of them gives me short bangs or straight cuts although I have coarse thin hair can you pls make one video about coarse thin hair?

Nat Kai: I've had short bangs for about 4 years and had regular bangs ever since I was 15 (I'm now 24). I just can't picture myself without bangs

Peteena Poodle: So thrilled I can pull off the pin-up bangs with my rounded features. I'll cut them as soon as I'm finished with the boho look!!!! Thank you Ally!!!!!!

Crystal Ann: I love this video! Love how you go into detail about topics. Had short bangs last year and it looked good even though I have round face, but also I have small nose and flat face ;) Hairdresser was suprised, she thought it will ruin my look but it didn't :"D

BLYTHE: I'm asian so my face is more on the rounded and flat side. I always felt more comfortable with the short wispy bangs because it always flattered my face. Even when hair dressers would tell me to not get bangs, I would always follow your advice and cut my bangs myself. I never felt confident with my face shape without bangs so thank you so much for this information.

D Win: WOW! Thank you for this very helpful video! A wonderful week to you and your lovedones, stay healthy! :-) <3

Jade: I certainly wouldn't look good in them, kudos to others who pull it off but I'd be looking like Lord Farquaad if I tried them

Laura Gómez Avilés: i had long hair with bangs a few years ago and once i dediced to cut my bangs short, it was awful haha. but now i have a pixie/mullet and i decided to cut my bangs, they ended up being REALLY short and i freaking love how i look?? it's so weird btw i have a round face and i'm gamine-ish

Conclave Cabal: Can you believe this woman is 36? (I’m 33 and look at least 400 years older than her ) What a brilliant, amazing, beautiful, stunning human.

Cora Butcher-Spellman: I like the contrast of shapes and styles and I appreciate you describing that as unusual but not necessarily wrong!

yoursnotmine1996: What a thorough analysis. Thank you Ally :)

indi191: Aly I loved this! Could you make a video about different brow shapes- thin/wide/bushy, arched,/straight/rounded, dark/soft? You said in this video that brows can really change your look, could you explain further?

l h: You are definitely an artist and can see shapes etc. good explanations. On top of that, you get design and know it’s more than just about a cut, but essence, vibe!

Sofia Cunha: I'm soft natural and I do like my hair and bangs in pinup/goth style, but recently I got a more layered cut and let it be free and more curly, and indeed, it looks even better. This is the right "rebel" cut for my face. And the best part is, it is natural, so my hair looks great all the time.

Paula Porras: I'm a soft natural and have baby bangs, but my hair is very wavy almost curly. This hairstyle is the one that suits me the most, it is indeed an accessory and I've been using it for years now. This hairstyle however is one that requires constant maintenance. I need to cut my bangs every 2 weeks or so. I've also experimented with colors (always leaving my roots) with bright colors. I love it.

Ági Bozsó: I had short bangs years qgo, but they werent cut by a hairdresser, so they it didnt fit me that well. One and a half year ago I cut my hair to a short pixie, with short bangs, and I love them, they make me very cute-looking and cool at the same time. Btw I'm a gamine (bit on the softer side)

Mallow: I really enjoyed your breakdown of the gothic coat photoshoot look, because it looked off to me as well but I would not have been able to express why. I really appreciate your insight, and your pointing out that not every style choice has the objective of looking more beautiful. Very entertaining video.

A. Mayer: I’ve been watching you since the beginning Ally, and your videos have become next level

U E: Can you do one for "would you suit short hair?"

Meruna Art: Had them for a while (I'm pretty sure I'm a Dramatic), they looked good when they were heavy and the shape was slightly rounded downwards, really accentuated my cheekbones. However they were difficult to maintain and I looked a bit too severe since I also have dark brown hair and a resting b* face lol. Side swept and longer bangs looked better on me, now my bangs have outgrown my face, yay!

Flora Koller: i loveeee my bangs and i love that i can just always change and experiment with them, as they grow usually quite fast :) anddddd yes i feel like a scandinavian warrior with them lol thank you for pointing that warrior look out :) i love ya videos xx

amber colored: thank you for this very informational video with visual and historical examples as well. you have lots of valuable knowledge beyond surface level and i'm grateful you share this with all of us!

Flower: Does anyone know if Aly offers consultations or a service of reviewing and advising on someone's look by photos or video? The videos are wonderful and I'd love that advice!!

Nan Corner: I did it last year, I absolutely loved it, i have small sharp face .. i’m actually thinking about bring it back!! XD I love short bangs, it has some vintage vibe to it! Thank u

Tamara Marie: I love your videos! So in-depth. You make any topic fascinating and it’s so well researched, interesting, and practical. Would you consider creating an amazing shop?

Ángeles: I have a long face but really dramatic features, now I have short feathery bangs and they balance all my face, it looks shorter and energetic. I used to wear long bangs and always looked tired without make up, so I think that exceptions are possible :)

Torrie: Alice Pagani (actress who played Ludo in Baby) still managed to look gorgeous in that hairstyle. I don't think it flatters many people.

Kinglouis: Thank you! Glad I watched before I attacked my bangs!! I totally get it now

Ciko Tan: OMG, yes... I have my short bangs for 2 years now. glad that you talked about this

MZROX: Could have done with this video 3 months ago lol TOO LATE NOW. I cut jagged short bangs on my rounded romantic face/small features. Without makeup and a natural look, no it does look great, very weird. I get what aly says about the vibe of that person all matching up. I felt I had to go heavy on the makeup, dramatic and edgier with clothes to match the style, then it looked pretty cool. But that's not me all the time. I also tried the wild warrior woman style clothing and it looked good haha but I was changing myself FOR the haircut. So if you do change up the vibe of your whole look a lot it might not be for you maybe.

Asa McCutchen: I'm excited that you keep bringing up the Amazon thing because I think that means that it's something new you're becoming interested in hopefully you will make a video about it soon

Skanky Panky: I always thought I would look awful with bangs, then I got talked into them by a hairdresser. Finally upgraded to baby bangs and GOD I love them I just love looking in the mirror and feeling hot. Every site said it would make my round face look awful, but they look awesome and pair fantastic with my weird alt Victorian librarian aesthetic

Kirra Adams: Looking extra beautiful, girl! I love the creamy makeup, and your hair shade and cut! ‍♀️

Romy Alexandra: It’s very interesting that in another point in my life, when I was maybe 10 years younger and 10kg heavier, at that time short bangs really looked amazing on me. now My face is too ”hard” to pull that look

Sonia Sunshine: Longer bangs doesn’t suit me at all but I think shorter bangs could work on me

A Blue: You are so smart! I love how into it you are , how knowledgeable and passionate you are about style and every detail. You consider everything and I love it!!! I would love to have you to consult and or do my hair!! Respect your eye and opinion sooooooo much!! Please never stop! You are born for this! Love you✊

Isabel Arellano Daste: Short answer: No, unless you have sharp or harmonious facial features.

Stacey Dalyn: Aww. This video makes me miss my short bangs. I would have bangs just shorter than my brows. It opens my face just enough and the blunt bangs look balanced on my face. I grew them out because of Covid. I have to wear a cap and face shield at my work and the they would cover and mess up the bangs if I had them.

Patrice Rogers: You're sooooo informative. This taught me sooooo much!

Tiesh: I am a SD and I LOVE huge curled bangs on me that are a little reminiscent of the 80's Check my profile pic. I feel the huge round shape works. Just fyi if you are wondering what kind of bangs might work. I feel like even if things aren't "in fashion" if you follow your lines you can "pull off" anything!! My favorite compliment is when someone tells me, i could never get away with that but it looks amazing on you....thats when I know I am dressing for my type.

Melissa Duré: You'll look amazing with bangs Aly!

lilbluefreak: Omg, I LOVE your makeup in this video! The eyeshadow and lipstick are such beautiful colors. Could you tell me what makeup you're wearing? Ima sucker for cool tones.

The 2nd To Last Unicorn: LOL her description of who doesn't look good with short bangs is me, and I have short bangs currently. :D

Parnian _: I asked the hairdresser to cut my bangs long and she gave me baby bangs:)))))) i cried a lot and now here i am trying to convince myself that it looks good on me=)

Tara: 16:19 "your face just 'moooooop' forwards more" laughing so much when you said this haha

Neiki V: I used to have side swept bangs before because I was so afraid of getting short bangs. Looking back, any kind of longish bangs arent suited to me at all because they look too visually heavy for my face.

Brenda Torres: Thank you for the informative video! I want to try it but have a strong feeling it won't like good. But still may try it.

Helena Persson: I’m a FN and I don’t even know why I watched this.. Maybe to remind me to NEVER EVER cut short bangs

Dennice Cisneros: I’m growing my bangs out for my wedding and it feels so weird as I’ve had short bangs forever. I feel like I look great in geometric short bangs but I do have a long middle portion of my face ‍♀️

phosphenevision: 6:50 girl.... "amazon women" aren't real, they are just a thing from fantasy stories. the amazon is a place but its not the same place from the stories, in the stories its an island. but short bangs are pretty common in many indigenous cultures, specially for children's hairstyles, since it protects the forehead from the sun and keeps the hair out of the eyes.

Ladynipchick2: Btw, you look wonderful in this video, Aly.

Louise Dolloff: I have tried micro bangs or short bangs and Nope. It's not for me. They make my face look huge! I can do eyebrow level or longer bangs and that looks great

Abril Bedoya: The only kind if bangs I've had and always cut them myself in moments of distress lol but they look cool and I love them on my curly hair.

Satria Utama: all i want is to cut my own fringe and research some how-to. but end up watching history video. i love it. now i can decide which fringe i need to pick.

Abrionna Clark: Here bc im a mixed race woman with round flat features and big green eyes. I love doing short bangs. I always dye it black and wear 30” extensions so very long and wavy. I feel like baby bangs are so versatile

M I M U S A: Could you elaborate on the fairy tale look? I'd love to watch that!!

Scarlet Stott: Your hair looks great! Bellissimo !

Red Maple: Got my short bangs and realized that they were cut too wide, luckily I figured out a way to make them look narrower for the time being. Also in find that pointed shaped bangs look better than ones shape like an upside down u

Morgan Gatliff: I clicked on this because you look so beautiful perfect hair

Ali: I was just talking about wanting to do short bangs on my curly hair the other day, wild timiny

Liat Oren: your videos are so interesting and professional. thank you

heavenly: could you do one for "would you look good with ginger hair?

Sonia S: The line of my head goes like a bit inward at the top so short bangs on me would look like a little wig on an egg! no need to try that

la le: It would be great if you could say, what haircut would fit them instead. I have short bangs and an "east europe face" and I am confused what would fit me better.

Amber Gorsline: “The face is gonna finish soon” *Audience breaths a sigh of relief*

Jeanne Marie: Accidentally cut my bangs too short! Lol. I feel better now!!!

Stella Müller: Hey Aly, I‘m a flamboyant natural, but I absolutely love the theatrical romantic style, what can I do??

Moe Szyslak: May as well give it a try if you're not sure, short bangs grow out SO fast

Roses: Eyebrow shape is also a good indicator of how long or short you want them.

Cola482: I Love your makeup!!

DahliaRose: Please make a video on tattoos for the different body types!!,

nella: It’s ok, if they turn out horrible I’ll just clip them back!

Dorp: I'm exactly what you described at 3:12 boho cottagecore bigfoot with wavy thick hair and a short blunt bangs ahahah

Lana O'Connor: I already have them so I hope so

N V: I'm a girl with prominent facial features like big nose, ears, chin But my hair is super thin and straight with zero volume, and it accentuates these features even more... What should I do?

Sofia: I love short bangs but the upkeep of it is so inconvenient. I would have to go to the hairdresser once every two weeks to keep it the same length.

irmalair1: Would love videos on big noses from you Aly it feels like it's the "worst" feature ever

Marcela Mendes: Hi Aly!! I really want to know if the bang style can make your eyes look Wide apart.

Avs Fan: When I have bangs I don’t like wearing the rest of my hair down because it looks so boring like lampshade. So I always grow them out and then I get bored once they are long and the cycle continues.

Skaiste Diksaityte: 16:13 Ally haha this killed me!!! I wish my face was more flat. I don't like that prominent nose and the line of my profile. I wish it was more pettite and subtle. Well now i know i'm not getting baby bangs

Elizabeth: I definitely would look horrible in short fringe/bangs. I much prefer the classic curtain bangs! ❤️

🌼Paulina Pi🌸: When I have bangs above brow I feel so French. I don't have a small face, but I cut the side hair to the jaw like in anime Asian type bangs, it makes face very slim and h7ggsthe face nicely. Short bangs above brows like Audrey H. or longer, look great on everyone who has proportional symmetrical face with good brows and big eyes. and small noses. Straight short blunt cut bangs accentuate already existent lines, including face wrinkles and face shape, nose shape, eye shape... Etc...

Sarah D: A bob & fun little bangs work well for my face, but my body is voluptuous so I felt like a cute little girl's head was placed on a curvy woman's body
