Bangs also known as a fringe are a great way that you can change your look today on my friend, Alex I'm gon na explain to you what you need to talk to your hairstylist about before you get them before, considering a fringe, everyone always asks. Will it look good on me and I do believe that everyone can look good with a fringe as long as you choose the right one for you, so if I use Alex as an example here, the first thing that I want to assess is her overall style. So for her, she has a bit of like a classic bohemian look and with her fringe, even her hairstyle right now, it's a little bit sort of 70s, a bit rock and roll. What a fringe does is. It creates a focal point. So when I say that I have a horizontal line right here, so what that horizontal line will do it'll bring emphasis to the lower half of Alex's face what her length is doing is I have vertical lines that are then drawing the eye downward. So these are things that you need to consider for some people like in Alex's case. Her fringe starts a little bit shorter and then it gets a little bit longer through the sides. So what that's actually doing is it's. Making sort of the top half of her face appear a little smaller. If she wanted to make the top half of her head a little bigger, we could change the shape of the bang, it could come out word or it could even sit nice and high. Now, where you start and stop your bang is also important or something to consider, because if I wanted to make Alex's face appear longer, I could make sure to have my fringe section all the way to the top here, because then you wouldn't know where her forehead Was to start and stop so for someone that has a very small forehead. You want a request to take your parting higher-up. Now the opposite is true. If you have a very high forehead, what a fringe does is it covers it, and you can also make sure that you don't section too high so that it doesn't look like you're all forehead, so a lot of what a fringe does or bang do. Is it really creates focal points? Sometimes people don't like a bang if they have a very large nose or bigger features that they don't want to emphasize because you are creating a horizontal and then drawing attention to the rest of your face. One of the most popular fringe trends for 2019 is a curtain fringe which alex has a version of, but I'm gon na show you how to cut them. So, let's get started some fringes. I think you can cut at home because they're one length techniques. However, with this curtain fringe, you want to ask your hairstylist so hair stylist. This is for you. What you want to begin with is sectioning off so for Alex. I want to make sure not to take her sectioning too high, because it'll just elongate her face too much, so I'm gon na start just by sectioning, and you can even see I've made sure to have Alex come in with how she would normally blow-dry her hair. So there's a little bit of a cowlick here and that's not too flat, because if I flatten it too much, then all of a sudden it's gon na pop up when she goes to style it at home. The other thing that I'm doing is I'm cutting her fringe with it dry. If you cut hair, when it's wet all of a sudden when it dries, it could be a lot shorter than what you want. The other thing that I'm looking at is the growth pattern. So when Alex's hair line, you can see that her hair wants to grow to the side, so naturally the hair is gon na pool or sit a little fuller on this side. Another thing to consider would be the hairline. None of us are symmetrical, including our hairline, so you can see on Alex that her hairline sits a little bit lower here than it does on this side. So it's actually a good thing that her hair naturally wants to push to this side, because you can see that, even though she has less hair here, it still looks nice and full. The technique is to make sure that it's the lightest in the center and by having it sit nice and light in the center. It'S gon na push the rest of the hair out of the way. So for this I'm going to pull all of this hair into the middle of Alex's forehead, and you can see that I'm actually lifting it up and by lifting it up, it's gon na sit a little softer than if I was to cut it down here down Here it's gon na sit very solid, so I'm gon na elevate this right up, pull it in towards the center and I'm gon na cut, so by pulling everything into the center. What that does is it leaves these edges a little bit longer and softens this middle piece. The first step is complete. What I want to see is that there's enough lightness in through the center, if there isn't, you can use a texturizing shear, something like this or a scissor and just point and break up the center so with the texturizing shear, I'm just gon na pull everything back In and just on the very edge I'm gon na soften now we don't want to leave the fringe like this, because it's too small a curtain fringe needs to have the side pieces. So for that, I'm gon na go back to the top and I'm going to section one more time so Alex if you want to look down just a bit. So I'm gon na extend and include all of this hair here so depending on your face shape. You may want to include more hair than what I've sectioned off on Alex or even less so now how I blend this in I'm gon na take the last little piece from the outside edge from the center and I'm going to comb it towards the last piece. So you can see that was from my last little bit of my fringe and I'm going to cut and I'm slowly just going to slide my scissor across my finger until I get the length that I want to see on the side and I'll do the same. On the opposite side, so consider you want to section it so that it looks the same. However, as I mentioned before, our hair lines might not be symmetrical from side to side, so I always like to start so that my sectioning looks the same and then adjust as I need to so once again. Picking up the last remaining piece from the outside edge and then slowly cutting and sliding my scissor until I get the same length on either side, Alexes fringe has been cut, but I don't want to just stop there. I want to see how it looks with the rest of her haircut, so I'm going to drop down the remaining hair, that's been clipped away and I want to see how this is framing or sitting in with the fringe. So if I want to maintain more of a vertical line, I'm gon na leave this piece of length long. If I want to draw more attention to Alex's cheekbone, what I can do is just blend in these pieces here. So I am just gon na use the tips of my scissor and I'm going to just sort of open up that part of Alex's face, but still leaving all of this long and through here and there you have it a curtain fringe for Alex in 2019. Hey! It'S Morgan again, if you liked this video make sure that you've subscribed. I have a new video like this coming to you every week and while you're at it share with your friends,

K Esperanza: Wow, the trimming of the fringe changed her look from tired to elegant. It is really hard to find a good, knowledgeable hairdresser.

Sharni DEVARAJOO: A real professional hair stylist. Very confident n knows exactly what she wants to do n does it perfectly

Laura Biding: This is a rare find! A hairdresser who actually looks at the client's face shape and takes so many things into consideration. Hairdressers I've been to in the past all seem to have their own preset ideas on what they think I should have and they take no notice of what I say. I also end up with so much of my hair being cut into the fringe, which isn't good when you have fine hair. They seem to pride themselves on the speed at which they cut hair and not the precision. I guess I'll just have to start cutting my hair myself again.

Valium K.: I just cut my own bangs, I've been wanting to do that for a while, but I was scared of messing up. It was a total success, I got way more compliments today than I could handle!! Still, I'm so happy I did it

Agatha Dolan: I don’t understand why this channel doesn’t have many more subscribers! Great personality and instructional teaching and video!

srvntlilly: I absolutely love your look here! Totally late 50's, early 60's Glamour. Gorgeous!

mai567: Since I cut my own most of the time, I can really appreciate you taking into consideration so many things! Don't know any other hairdresser who does. Kudos!

Rebecca Barry: You and your model are stunning! Your clients are extremely lucky to have a hairdresser as knowledgeable as you!

Susanne Fengler: Thanks Morgan! I did my whole hair by lifting and trimming like you did in this video. After a bad haircut, what a difference. Keep up your videos please ... Maybe anything about doing wigs with this method? What a difference with this gentle cut! Thanks again.

Debasmita: I am just in love with the knowledge of every haircut you have, that too in a detailed way. I wish I could get a perfect from you!

Miss Lyntheena: The hairdresser knows what’s working on herself as well. That hairstyle is amazing and only few can rock it

Julia Gulia: Thank you so much for posting this video! You made my trimming day so much easier. Best bangs video ever!

ThePukanka: Charming and smart lady THANK YOU! I cut my own bangs since a few unfortunate hairstyling incidents because of changing living place and losing contact with a talanted hairdresser in 2017 and since I saw your video in 2019, the time that is necessary for me to cut it has improved from 1 hr to 10 mins (a perfectionist here). <3 I hope you are doing well and for myself to find at least half as considerate hairdresser as you are! Ps: I am not that pretentious, once they left even a sharp angle on my bangs, and another time - a hair silhouette of an octopus, idk how these people even get to work on clients! Still, seeing you gives me hope!

Pheonix Aerial Photography: This is the first time I've heard a hairdresser speak about checking out the client's hairline. This is so important, and yet it seems that hairdressers aren't trained in this. The "hairline" may be crooked, but as long as they cut the "hair" straight, then they're good to go.

Ginette S: Very well done ! They are both naturally good looking, but not distracting from the tutorial shown. Very pleasant looking & professional.

Centrifugal Muse: I love how gentle she is with her hair!!

Lady X: Perfect! Thank you for sharing this technique

Jennifer Dorsey: Very informative and explained easily enough to understand

Culatergater Lionwarrior: I just Love how she does her profession with her whole heart of gold. There are hair stylist who don't give a care in the world about faces just give you your hair wash, haircut and done. Ugh

Crabbeet: I’ve wanted bangs for so long, but I’m afraid a hairdresser won’t know how to properly cute curly hair I don’t wanna look like a clown

sanyogita Giri: Hello Morgan, the details you have mentioned for keeping bangs is such an great info for any lady who wants to look beautiful with it.. you are really amazingly excellent fashionista.. love you and your tips love from India. I am the new subscriber of your channel ❤️

Nenad S.: How nice of you to reveal all these tips! And such a classy haircut, which goes along and completes her looks-I hate hairsylists who looks messy and naturally you cannot trust them

KermitTime: Why should I tell all of this to the hairdresser??? Isn’t that their job? Unfortunately most hairdressers I’ve been to don’t even look at your face shape, there’re just like ‘I’ll do what you want’ well hello I’m asking for YOUR advice, you’re the professional. I guess it’s reflected in the hairdressers price. No more cheaper hairdressers for me. They just do everything automatically.

t lf: Pure genius. I wish the stylists I've run across knew as much or spent as much time.

Ricki Lynn Wolfe: Great tips Morgan darlin I'am 56 years old and have had bangs my whole life since the 60's when I was 5 years old I have always cut my own and cut the middle of my bang just a snip higher but blend in the focal point as you call it as well as my sides and I look great in them and Iam living proof your never to old to have them .I do have a callic that blends in and looks cool. I must add your right in telling the hair dresser how you want to cut it because all hair dressers cut hair different Ive learned as an example if you go to an Asian hair dresser Ive learned they layer hair different then an American hair dresser does. The Asian hair dresser told me they cut it differently and I did like there cut better . tks for sharring great tips

JulianaHereOnEarth: This came out beautiful! And Morgan, you are gorgeous!

Mike Sacco: Beautiful! Very professional.

twinklybones: wow Morgan, your hair is stunning

Vidyadevi Salunkhe: mam u explained so nicely, detailed and Crystal Clear

Lourdes Garcia: OMG!!TY SO MUCH! I got scared w thinners but it came out beautiful! What I always see and admire!!

Mina: Really well explained! Would you recommend a Brigitte Bardot bang for an oblong face? I have a small head and thin face, my hair is fine and straight. I'm bored of my look.

Amanda Kay: Wow, such subtle changes that made a huge difference. That's a talented hairdresser, right there!

モエニャーmoe moe: i learned from someone in youtube that she believed make bangs doesn’t decide from face shape... and she makes a great explanation why, and she is legit

Debbie Belden: You're a great teacher, thank you

Lydia Langford Joiner: You speak with perfect diction and you know exactly what to say and demonstrate. Thank you for sharing your knowledge in such a lovely way.

Susan Buckley: Looks beautiful!

Elena Wilson: I need this lady. Went to the hairdresser and they completely butchered my first time bangs

Alexia Kan: Omg your hairstyle is perfect!Do you have a tutorial for that?Recently cut my hair into a bob and would love to try that hairstyle!

Lauren Allen: I had asked my stylist for YEARS if she could do bangs. She blew me off,so here I am.

April Singleton: Curtain bangs sound as pretty as they look! Great video

TigerHorseTiger: This was so helpful as a customer!

Stephanie T: So helpful!!! Thank you for sharing!

Donna Keating: Thank you, thank you, thank you, for saying it like it is, a fringe, fringe is what i know it to be... Love the way you explained this... Awesome job..

I C: Sooo cool a person can look so amazingly good in a haircut like the hairdresser has. I would look like a complete idiot in that haircut but for her it brings out her beauty so well

Persephone: Wow! Alex looks great! Her hair is very pretty :)

Twisted Artdesigns: Nice video. Great job on the fringe!

Niamh McAlister: This really helped me decide whether I want a fringe!

paris scott: By far the best step by step video I have seen!

maleka58: Thanks for posting, I am always trying to decide what sort of fringe to use :)

#DreamCeline: So helpful!

Saanch Singhal: I have just cut my own bangs..... I think they look great so far

Paoula Mora: WOW! Surper skills, you are truly talented in your profession. I have yet to find a professional hair stylist, to give me the perfect bangs. I've had over 12 different professional hair stylist, ask them to give me bangs that match my feature. It always looks horrible. Either to Short, to Long, to Much, or Not Enough hair. Now I have a dreadful looking cow lick, I'm giving up! Once it's long enough to push back, I'll go around showing my big forehead. ‍♀️‍♀️

Dejana Markova: That hairstyle suits her so well

luna li: she looked so much better after the cut!!

Rashida bee Nawab Jahan: Totally impressed by you.... Actually I have face shape exactly like Alex. But i was unable to find the right haircut throughout the internet. I just bumped into your video and it helped me toooo much. Now the biggest task is to find a hairstylist like you. I will show this video to him or her. Love you.

Sibel Cakal: Thank you.you explained very easily.

Shelly: Very nice, I'm 49 and haven't ran across a beautician with your skills and attention to detail.

Secret Garden: You are beautiful and skilled, you explained everything very well and easy.. Pity I finished the course and never had a chance to work as a hairdresser, no one wants to give the opportunity to work if you never had proven experience:/ and maybe because I’m foreigner as well..

scellea: Thank you very much for this video ! What would you recommand for a square shaped face and a small nose?

Maria Aleksandrova-Howell: To be a really good hairstylist one must want to learn constantly and to improve techniques. I have had so many experiences when I went to "good" and expensive salons and the quality of the hairstylists' work was awful. I had the impression that they do not care at all and do not want to spend any time and effort to improve beyond what they have learned at school. And, yes, they do not want to spend more than 5 minutes on a haircut. This is really sad. But it may be true for people belonging to any other profession.

grey perry: Dang, this woman is knowledgeable as heck wow

sidney alligator: I’ve been really toying with the fact of having bangs. I have a long face and a big forehead. My favorite style of bangs are longer bangs that are like light and wispy with not a lot of hair ( I have thick hair so I’m terrified that I’ll go to a hairdresser and they’ll give me Dora bangs lol ) do you think that type of bang would work with my face shape?

Ellen Seeking-Truth: Wow thats the exact hair style I've been wanting for like FOREVER .. but no one could do this so I've just let my hair grow out all one length half way down my back lol.. wished you had a salon here in New Jersey.. Seriously though, thanks Morgan, Alex's hair looks amazing!!! Any tips on finding a hair stylist that can actually do what you're showing in this video?

bee xiong: This video was very helpful, thank you

Charlene: Looks excellent!!!

Roompa: So lockdown is going on currently. Thanks to Covid-19, and I wanted to have bangs in my round plump face. I went through random tutorials(except this crucial video) on youtube and cut my own bangs last week. The only problem was I did it on my wet hair. So after drying up, the bangs looked short and awful. Now I'm thinking of going 1 extra inch up near to the top portion of my head and cutting the rest of the hair down to my eyebrow length. Any tips?? It would mean a lot if I get an answer. Particularly when there are no shops open in this part of the world: India. And you got a new subscriber as well. :)

kelly k: this is the best video on bangs I have seen , thanks heaps xx

Jenn Nguyen: Whoa, a knowledgeable hairdresser! I feel like all the ones I've been to don't look at my face-shape or tell me what I should and shouldn't do. Wish they did :/

Helayne Lillo: I love your videos. And it would be great if you could put a before and after picture at the end of the videos.

Bobbi Van Eman: BEAUTIFUL ! Thank you for sharing. God bless you.

R2D2: I’m watching this professional video, almost taking notes when in reality I know I’m going to disregard all of it and chop off all my hair and mess up my face lmao

Tooba Rizwi: Thank God finally someone... someone can explain. Thank you.

Bunny: Ive been wanting to get bangs for so long. I want a type of "soft bangs" if you look up "As If It's Your Last Rose bangs" you'll know what I mean.

vera intuizione: I adore the hairdresser' s haircut! It's very elegant very old fashion...very Grace Kelly.

Denise Pfahl: What a difference this stylist made opening up her face with proper cutting of the bang...before the curtain was straight across making her look frumpy...but voila, the new bang was light airy, and made her look prettier! I think she needed to cut some of the length off to complete the look. Wow, short snips all the way down and along the side of the face made a big difference too. This was masterful. Great stylist, we more of you that know what you are doing to enhance the shape of the face. What a cute cut on the stylist too.

Eunice Ong: Watching this makes me nervous because apparently my mom's cutting my fringe any day because I asked her to. Anyways you're such a professional ❤❤

Rachel Charles: Wow! The model looks so much younger nd stunning wid the fringes! U r a pro! God bless!

Diane LovesALotofLife: Heavy bangs should NEVER be on someone with droopy eyes/sagging eyelids. Heavy bangs accentuate the aging of hooded/sag eyelids/brows.

Alexis Miller: Morgan you have a fab hairstyle!

Izzy Cameron: the model: literally wearing all black the hairdresser: "she has a classic, bohemian look." (no hate though!)

Ciko Tan: I hope when I got to hairdresser. They will talk like this! Giving advice and knowledge before what should we do with our hair!!!

melomania: I hate my hooded eyes, but they look good on your face!!

Melina Garza Meléndez: Best video ever! I always have troubles with my bangs

Greta Hamamoto: Real professional hairstylist I have round face but also big forehead, do you think that a fringe above my eyebrows will suit my face?

CHEN WANG: You look so gorgeous in this hairstyle. So elegant

Mar Martínez Camba: Hii!! I want to make my face appear more rounder and shorter! What type of bangs should i do?

Dalia Yousef: Great content! I'm wondering what would look nice on a round face w big nose? Seems like nothing in practice would work out

Marija Nikolić: She is beautiful and you did the great job

Kevin Wallis: Very interesting demo, wish i could show it to my hairdresser, she always ruins my fringe ....dont know why i keep going back!!!!!

Halsey Summer: THE MOST RESPONSIVE HAIR STYLIST EVER

timon mills: "Talk to ur hair dresser before letting them cut ur bangs" Me: I don't need to go to a hair dresser my mom can do them :D Edit: Ik she will do it right bc when I asked her for side swept Bangs she did it exactly how I wanted it

LaReece Miller: I loved watching & learning! However, please don't use scissor - there's no such word. Scissors is the word for a two-bladed tool for cutting, so it's a plural word for a singular implement. You're very articulate - don't spoil it! ;-)

Ean Nicole: I need advice. My blended parts come from the side of my face! ... but it seems like all of the fringe, (including the sides) should come from the top of the hairline, never the sides. Correct?

dany: Ok but the hairdresser’s hair is ICONIC!

cldtriplosette: i wanna go to your salon so i can get the perfect bangs

Vergelyify: What bangs would you suggest with someone who has a short hair area, normal forehead, round face and a big nose, weaker chin (convex face) ? Thank you!

WT TW: Hey I don't really have any issues with absolutely any French woman..., I love all of them.

Sal: Thank you Youtube Algorithm for this video. I want you as my stylist. I always wanted front curtain bangs but my forehead is small and i have a round face. I think you can give me that flattering look.

Dreamer Dreamer: I have a wide face similar to the one of the model, but I always ask my hairdresser to cover my cheekbones, so it wouldn't be this wide looking. I wonder where did this model take her confidence? I mean I would like to be this confident with my face shape, but when people mention my cheekbones I loose all the confidence.

Ikram Moussa: Hi i have a round face but my forhead isnt the same width as the bottom half of my face. Does this mean a short fringe will balance out my face to make it less round on the bottom? Which fringe would u recomend? I have normal textured curly/wavy hair that is medium length and is lightweight on the top
