Quick Haircut: How To Do A "Shattered Shag Haircut" In One Cut

How to Easy & Quick layered Haircut Tutorial for women | Cutting tips & techniques

Hi, i'm william watley we're here at the hair institute in manchester new hampshire. Today we're going to be doing a shattered shag with the geometric systems here at all nutrients. So i'm going to get ready, we're going to divide the hair up between 20 and 80 percent and start with our shadow check so guys. What i want you to do is do your 80 20. So how you do that is just go from the center of the top of the head from ear to ear push the 20 percent forward. So just remember, your 20 percent is always pushed out of the way so that you will have just your eighty percent. Behind the ear, and now that i've taught you zone one zone two and zone three, this is an in salon cut. So i want you to take all zones into one hand, and the key to a shattered shag is: is that zone three in the back? Eighty percent has to fall at least two inches below the occipital bone, or it does not become a shag. It becomes a mess okay, so everything is pulled up and i'm going to take my cicacia razor text. The 22 teeth to use this so just to test yourself just find out in your vortex, where your thumb is pointing where that is going to fall. Is that where occipital bone is no, it's got to be a little bit further out. So there's the occipital bone. Okay, so now i'm going to take my 22s, these are from cycacia, the razortex 22 means 22 teeth and i'm just going to start cutting and then, as i start to get all the way through that i'm gon na stop for just a second and then create Just a little texture up the strand, hence the shattered shag part, go back to my design line and keep cutting, keep cutting lightly, go in there and shatter that a little bit more until that's completely gone now. The key to this is see how even that is. Yes, but when we release this in the back of this now, you have in my day what we call a shattered, shack and that's what you did on hers, but we did it way shorter, yes, but we did it way shorter. Can i try this yet? Yes, absolutely now we can try using the razor shears the razor text, okay, but is that? Is that not an easy way? But this is where uh the sutatia razor techs they're a must. Have you can't really get this in one go with a regular thinning, shear or if you do, if you use a scissor you're going to have a line? Okay, so we're going to pass out some of the razor text. You guys can try that with that. Okay,

Maja Raj - Wasilewska: I love it. I was able to cut my own hair thanks to this video. I always wanted this kind of haircut but my last hairdresser wasn't able to cut it like that.

Megan Davis: William! I am obsessed with this video! Not only was it amazing and extremely well done, but you as the video host is the best. You are everything I have been searching for in a hair dresser and teacher. I absolutely love it!!!

End Times Rapture Generation: I love this. I tried it and it turned out great.

LCD D: Yeaaaaa it worked and is nice and even!!! Thank you ❤

•_•: I thought you did a great job explaining what you were doing very insightful

Marla Bennett: What a great instructor going to try on myself ☺️

Nasrin Davallou: I love the way you did the back, can you please show us the front too.‍♀️

Estrella🌙: I was going to do this at home But damn it's so hard. Great video btw

Virginia Webb: I would like to see the rest of the haircut!!

CODE 941 MUSIC : I always cut my hair at home because I like unique haircuts and hairdressers always assume you want something basic.

Leticia Menefee: Can You please put a link to the cutting shears you used?

frances: Is there part 2 for the front & sides?

stephanie millington: WOW! I paid $500 @ Aveda advanced training in Minneapolis in the 90's to work on the drag & shag technique for 2 days non stop.. Very insightful!!

fran: couldn't see or hear very well but it was simple and fast and a shag!

Ann Parsell: Thank You! Great!

mimii3000: What about the front?

Dee Gralak-Roe: Well done!

Gellybean Riley: Hard to tell for sure when your cutting against your dark jacket!

Das1963: I have been to a lot of salons - some cheap, some expensive - and NO ONE knows how to layer! I get short in front and long in back, but not layered all over.

Paula Schroeder: Very good indeed.!

RavennaElizabeth: He’s really pushing those thinning shears

Ephesians 2: Verse 8,9: i really think ALL hairdresser should be forbidden to own scissors

Carmen: Video starts at 2:17

Sherry G: Instructions on the front and side please

Misty Rain: I think you have a lot to offer, but please consider a different color hair to contrast against your clothing. It’s tough to see. Also, tell your cameraman that portrait view is a cardinal sin!! Thank you for sharing.

Violetta: Would it be rude to show this video to a hairdresser. I have been to 4 different hair dressers who cannot cut my hair into a short shag properly. Last time i ended up cutting some of my own hair after being at the hairdressers. My hair is very thick and wavy, not easy i guess. Always needs lots of thinning out.

Judith Rees: So how do you do the other 20%? How do you do the sides?

Ann Baker: I saw what you were doing but the volume was very poor

Kodi: This is an add for the particular brand scissors. Any thinning shears as long as they are sharp will work. The guy probably has a deal wit h the company.

michelle nuzzello: What about the rest of the hair!?!?!

Ilyene Wood: Great tip, Idig it.

Paula Schroeder: You are very good. I wish you could cut my hair.

Christine Anderson: Can you do a kate moss cut? Thank you

alloneword154: I feel like that was parallel to the opsipital bone. Not two inches under.

jaspersmom9595: 20%/80%? That was almost 50/50

Katie Stanton: I can't unsee this being Happy from Spiderman living his best post-trauma life

girl_next_doorable: The shears he is describing are chunkers.

Libia castaño: Está muy retirada la cámara. No se puede apreciar el corte!

lwray0311: Good video if you're only doing the back of your hair

Janet Hollman: He looks like a mafia godfather lol

RiaHA AlsOmo: thank many

Liz and Rudy Magen: Why would you do a haircut video and not complete the cut? Bizarre.

Lourdes Jaramillo: Perhaps you cut the hair on the sides? The exact same way you do to the back..common sense..its how I'd do it..lol

karen milano: Can't hear this. Can't see the hair, as it's dark and so is the stylist's shirt.

Lydia Man: Where can I find the scissors he used?

Dean Williams: That's the most confusing way I have ever heard anybody explain anything. Reminds me of a film flam man making a bad pitch.Seriosly this was a simple 3 step one paragraph process which took about 12 sideways turns, and 4 unrelated explanations. Geez!

Haruko Haruhara: I don't trust this guy because he is hiding his hair.

Liberty State: Yep, what about the rest?

ultracalicokittycat: it's so cold in New Hampshire that people wear coats and hats indoors

Kathi Rodden: you don’t need all the big words

Hannukka: Bad idea to have black clothing and dark haired model. Does not work on video.

Judie Tallman-Deitchman: cool shears!

Elizabeth Velez: You shouldn't even bother filming if it has to be from that distance.

PUPPY LOVE: Plz turn up your Volumne!!

hood patch: This is a monstrosity

Joan Reitzel: Why wouldn't the stylist wear a light color shirt/jacket or use a blonde mannequin? js

Juanita Sagusky: Too blurry

kim stangland: Tiny video...fuzzy. hard to see

Tina King: You said just 1 cut..

M R: what bone? close up please?

Libia castaño: No se vio nada!

Katherine Klevenow: Occipital bone? Huh? ‍♀️

Cassidy Namid: Cant hear it

CLARA3952 koss: real person would be better

Becca Crooks: why was this filmed on a potato?

Kevin291971: He lost me at some bone

amjPeace: Welcome to the "603!"
