All right, so today we are going to be doing an inverted bob and I my lovely model Kathy. She has some beautiful air. We usually do about one her, but we're just going to accentuate it a little bit more today I make it a little more. What inverted yo? No! No sir! Now it sounds like someone's associate of mine. Okay. So now we're going to take a room, a section here and four different sections. So first I'm gon na start from the top of the head to the ear just going to bring it down for all right. So now I'm going to go from the apex down to her nape and just drive my phone all the way down and just try to go straight away as you can. You know it's not gon na make a huge different, but it just helps to know what you've cut with section 7:3 yeah. Okay, we have our angle in our head down. Let'S start with an inch section going from her neckline up. If you take a section too thick and you try to cut it, you have too much hair there you're going to get a lot of choppiness and you're not going to get a straight clean line, so we're going to do over neckline. So you can see when I pull the hair up - that's right about here. So that's about two and a half inches calm down hold my comb there like this and I'm going to start in the middle because it's going to be inverted. Some start here make my first cut and that is going to be called our guy so that I'm going to comb the side flap down pulled out. My comb go from my guide when you're cutting against the neck. You want to be very careful, so a good trick is while you're cutting we push forward and, as you cut down, pull back, that's going to ensure that you don't snip their neck, because these are very sharp shears and that is very likely to happen. The tighter you have it, the straighter, you have it in the thinner, the section, the more precise that cuts going to be, and you want to go back in detail in so many times. So then we want to do. Is you want to cross-check or check your sides, so I'm going to take these two and pull them down and just make sure they're. Even you want to angle these also a little bit. So I'm not going straight like this angling it down a little bit. So my section is thin up to where I can see, or my guide is underneath so now I just pull that down and if you ever want to double check, just sign under pull it up, and you can see where that hair is underneath and that's where You guys ever you can't see your guide, it means your sections too thick and you need a resection. So now that I have my guide at the bottom, I don't necessarily need to keep bringing all my sections down to it, because I'm just going to go back and make my layers anyways. So when I kind of get to this point right at about the occipital bone is when I start to do my layering, so that's going to so I'm going to pull this straight out and then what I'm going to do is I'm going to follow the angle. The diagonal angle that has been made from my first couple sections so the shortest is here and then, as it goes up, it gets a little longer. So I'm going to follow that and you can see it when you pull it out. You able to see your guide, but it's going to be at about a 45 degree angle. So a 90 is straight out. So then a 45 is going to be just right in the middle between straight down and straight up. So if you can make a 45 degree angle, you come up like that and you don't want to have too much tension. Just hold it loosely. You want to pull too much because it's going to affect the way the air drops, so just pull it out. Have it at a good point and then lighten your grip up and then I'm just going to go down and cut so now, when I pull it out, it has a graduated layer so that when it comes down, you can see a rodeo it wants to round. Under now, as you move on to the sides, you're going to order up those a little bit going to take this and I'm just going to pull back just like, I did the last section, comb that all and I'm going to comb, that towards the middle and Now you can see where my guide is right here, so I'm going to cut it right along there and, like I said before, the section should be thin enough to where you can see the guy underneath it so bring all that out. You can see where I need to cut I'm gon na get to this point where i grabbing these hairs. I like to do two things, and this is going to help me really get a perfect line. I'M going to bring it back to my section, cut that little bit off, but then i'm going to take it and pull it directly out from the head. So i'm going to pull it directly out and then you'll see there should be a line. If there's any hairs that surpass that just snip those - and this is kind of like cross-checking, two, so it'll still be a little shorter in the middle here, but it should be as graduated is when you pull it straight to your middle guide and then bring it Down you can see now that everything looks good, except for there's this extra length right here. That'S when you take this and then you bring it to your guide like this, and i can see that that little bit needs to go now. I have a pretty valuable line and when I come it out, you can see how it calls just like this an exception over I'm going to make sure to always over direct it to the middle. So this is the middle and I'm coming from here. So I'm not pulling it straight out from our head and pull it straight out and bring it towards the middle, where my stationary guide is I'm going to find where I left off. So when I breathe like this, I can see okay. This is where I was cutting laughs, so you can see all this hates, because just I bring it out like this, follow that guy then I'm just bringing you up a little as you get further to the side, you're going to notice that you don't have as Much to cut because obviously you're needing to pull it from there out so you're going to lose a lot of Italy, but that's okay, because you want this city longer. So that's why I credit Cutlass shorter here longer here, hence favorite! So now I'll be on the side, as you can see, I'm pulling all this up and applying it right into the middle and there's that a lot. This is a nice line. I'Ve already cut, but I'm just gon na make sure I get everything. So there's nothing. Passing my fingertips, so you can see just a nice clean line and then I'm going to take down here and I'm eliminate color weight right so anywhere that there is extra length or weight pull it out and you can see they're just like various random little hairs. So I'm just going to snip that so when I take a section right here called a mohawk section, so I'm going to pull all this up. So if I were to have, if I were to be doing like just another haircut, another layer doing like 183 layer, I would bring everything up and I would bring everything up to that. It would be like this, but for this I want the layers to be inverted as well as her length. So that means that I want everything to come back to this point, so you can see when I release that that's going to be longer than this. So it's going to be converted as I release it, so I'm going to first pick like my length of my stationary guide, which I'm not just going to choose, I'm going to go with what I've been doing. So I'm going to take a little bit from that back, which should have all come to the same point. If you were following your guide and bringing this up so you can see it's about right. Here is angle that goes up like this, so you know that's pretty much 40 good, I'm just going to clean up a little bit. So this is I everything comes to this point. Further, I'm going to first bring that up to the center of the head. So not spread out like this, but Center this and then it will be directed back tonight. So not only are you over directing it to middle the head to the park, it was hard because directing it to your stationary guy, No to my god when you bring it up. You can see like a couple little hairs here because obviously, like some parts of her hairline go further, so those are going to be a little longer, so you can just trim those alright okay, so I'm going to take a little bit from so I already have All this gun - this is okay, so now I want to take a little bit forward or go about an inch from her ear. I take that. Try not to give your me and then I'm going to pull that directly back, see with my guide. What needs to go this game? What are you doing at her trying to figure out the weird way she clearly does not like that close down? This is even I'm just going to nip that, like I said trying to be to elevate it and try to be as straight down as you can and what you can do, if you want is you can bring everything back and over direct it. That'S one way. If you're more confident and you've done more, these, you can kind of freehand it. But since her, since my guide for the front is right here and I write in my length cut here - it's a very small little section to make the cut. So I can just bring then I'm just going to go from the front and I'm just going to double-check that this is even obviously that's very important that the front wants to be eaten. You, oh he's half deaf, so I'm somebody's trying happy tears any ambient noise around me in the bathroom. So now that our hair is dried, do these wrinkles, sir you're so immature, can't even you're, not drama

Natalie S: Thank you very much for the informative, down-to-earth and easy-to-follow tutorial! I’ve never cut someone’s hair before, and I followed this video (with slight modifications) to give someone a trim. It turned out really nice! ☺️

Stephanie Smith: Love how detailed your demonstration was! You broke down every part of the cut and explained it so well! Am gonna watch it again! Ty

Annika Taylor: Thank you!! You explain so well and cut with precision will definitely watch more of your videos

Lisa Hunt: Looks very cute, and you do a great job! I would absolutely love to have my hair this way, but I have natural curly hair that is pretty curly and it does what it wants to do, not what I want it to do! I would have to blow out my hair every day, and I have such a hard time doing it myself. Plus, I have lots of health problems (I’m on disability because of them), and don’t always feel like doing much of anything to my hair! But I really love this cut! Very, very cute! Thanks for sharing!

Emma Ritchie: Watched your video this morning...passed my assesment today! Thank you so much for making this video x

Lisa Boyle: Gorgeous cut! I would love my hair like this.

Makeup by Jamie-Lee: You do great tutorials with really good explanations! I hope you make more hair videos!! Xo

blueshoes915: Very good and detailed step by step guide. It also made me realize, I cannot cut my own hair into an inverted bob. I cut my own hair into a straight bob as I have thin, fine hair; and almost every hairdresser I have went to has done a bad job because they treat it as if I have normal or thick hair. I like that your model had thin hair also, you did a wonderful job! Every time I call to make an appointment, I ask for someone who is skilled with thin, fine hair and they always say all their stylists are. Not helpful and not true. If anyone has any tips on finding a stylist who works well with thin, fine hair, I would appreciate it. No offense to stylists who are not, I get it, it’s challenging! It’s also challenging for clients with this hair type to find a good stylist.

Meshell: You killed it on the tutorial. Awesome explanation and display of technique. This is better than a dozen others i've watched. Not to mention, those dozen were presented by so called pro's endorsed by a large product line. You Rock !!

LUCKY:): great tutorial, explaining each step and with detail, thank you!

Chiki Monki: If you are not a Cosmetology teacher; you need to be. Seriously !! I've watched 4 other different "instructional " vids on this Bob. Yours is THE only one that made sense and broke it down to an doable level. Thanks for posting.. .. Please make sure your BF is outside or elsewhere for your next video. Thanks again.

Tonya Martin Hall: Love it!! Just wish there was a way to do the cut on my own hair!

Holy Frijoles: Thanks for doing this video. My daughter is 8 and has autism so I cut her hair because it's easier than taking her into a loud salon. I like her hair to look cute and this is the cut I stick to. Thanks for breaking it down like I'm 5! Lol. I needed all the details!

Andrea Bashkingy: A very good clear video of an inverted bob.no fluffy show off stuff, just real! thx

Gretchen Rininger: Really cute haircut.

Almira Leonardo: is that recommended for thick hair? if not, what haircut fits people with thick hair?

L L: I'm a student and I'm just starting but when you cut the hair at a 45° your pulling the hair at the 45 but are your fingers also at a 45 or just straight up and down?

Jan Stewart: Very nice

Crystal Parker: I am a complete amateur and I wanted to know if I could do this with already flat ironed hair???

MrDakota383b: I'd love a haircut from you :)

StarGirl WithALibrary: THIS DOESN'T HELP!!!!!!!!! I already *have* an inverted bob, but because of this quarantine, it's growing out. My hair grows FAST, and I need to trim it, but I don't trust my mom because she's 72, and there's *no way in hell* that I can do this by myself. So...I'm pretty much screwed because I can't do this, so my hair is going to end up looking stupid, because an inverted bob looks ugly when it's long. Great. Thanks a lot. *rolls eyes*

american gi: Good haircut ! What scissors are you using ?

Barbara Bivens: Cute haircut. Good job.
