Everyone Kayleigh here to show you how to make a crown braid. I really think this is kind of the year of statement braids. I love them so much and I love crown braids more than ever. So I wanted to show you kind of a simplified way of how to make them so first, we're gon na create two Dutch braids you're gon na split your hair and half in the back and then on my left side, I'm braiding upward and then on. My right side, I'm gon na braid downward, so I'm gon na start out with the hard one first, which is going upward. So I'm taking a very small section from the bottom nape of my neck right there. Next to the part that I made and then I'm going to braid underneath to create a Dutch braid. This way you have that nice 3d braid that kind of sits on top of your hair and then I'm just gon na incorporate hair. As I go going about at the level that my braid is so as I'm going, I'm basically sweeping my finger along and picking up all the hair. That'S at the same level that my braid is and incorporating that into the braid, and you just want to make sure that you're keeping your fingers really really close and holding it really really tight as you're coming through here. That way, you don't accidentally lose your place or have any trouble. You know doing this upward break, so I think it really is the hardest part of this whole hairstyle. Now, if you want to leave some hair out on the front, you can leave bangs out or if you want, you can just leave some shorter layers out like I did so you can see I'm kind of choosing right here what to leave out. So I'm just picking up the stuff that I don't want to leave out and I'm braiding that in with everything else, and that way, I have a little bit of hair left down to kind of frame my face because I just like having that there. I feel, like it kind of looks like a hat when I don't have that there. It just looks like a braided hat somehow so anyway, you're just gon na go ahead and finish this off by braiding, normally and once you've reached the end of it. Go ahead and secure it with a small elastic and then I'm just clipping it out of the way after I do this so that I can move on to the other side without it getting in my way, because of course that would be frustrating so now, you're Gon na start up next to your part, and you get to do the easy side of it, which is to braid downward. If you want to leave any pieces of hair out, go ahead and choose those and leave them out now and then you're gon na go ahead and braid, just as we did before, going underneath and braiding in hair as you go as if it were a French Braid, I do have a tutorial on Dutch braiding if you guys need a little bit more of something on that, because I know I'm not really going in depth on that right now. So once you've got all that hair incorporated again, you're gon na go all the way down to the end of your hair and then secure it with an elastic band. Now we do the fun part, which is to pull the braids apart and make them look extra. Big I like to start at the base and I really pull it apart on the end where it's normally braided and then I'm very gentle on the Dutch braided section, because you can accidentally pull this apart too much, then I'm doing the same thing. On the other side, to pull it apart, really big on the regular braid and then rather gently over the Dutch braided and now all we have left to do is pin it in place. So I'm gon na wrap that top one around first and I'm gon na wrap it around the outside of the original Dutch braid. And then you can see that I can just pick up the outside of the braid and tuck the end underneath and then I just put a few bobby pins into there to hold it in place and then that's done. I also cut put a couple of bobby pins up at the top over my head, just to make sure that it didn't fall down into my face during the day, because that would be embarrassing. Then I'm gon na pick up the other one and I'm gon na. Take it on the inside of the other braid on the side, I'm just kind of lining it up with the braid and then once I reach the end of it, I'm tucking it underneath the braid in the front and pinning it underneath so that nobody can see The end of my braid and I'm just using as many bobby pins as I need to make this feel secure and pinning any flyaways down as well. And then all you have to do is add the finishing touches now. What I did because my hair is actually kind of long musta curl it, so it look a little bit shorter and not as awkward around my face. You can do whatever you feel like really frames your face. Well, it really makes you feel extra confident. Then I just kind of ran my fingers through it to break up the ringlets and pinned one little piece back, just to kind of create the illusion of having bangs and guess what guys that's it. So it's really a lot easier than it could be with like four or five different braids. It'S only two braids, just two Dutch braids and then pinions in place, and you can do that even if you only have little tiny ends left over. So I hope you guys like this. I hope you try it out and I'll see you in my next video mwah bye,

Neariah Hernandez: This is probably the most easiest and most practical tutorial on a crown braid! Of course if you don't know how to dutch braid, it will be slightly more challenging!!!

catt021: Thanks so much for sharing this. I've been try to figure out how to do this since I saw the hairstyle on Teen Wolf but my hair never seemed long enough. This actually make a lot more sense with the dutch braids incorporated. Thanks so much for the tutorial!

Kelsey Fuglestad: This is amazing :D I finally found out how to do crown braid easily (for me) Thank you so much for making the video helped so much

ebonies: I LOVE crown braids & I've been looking forward to this video ever since I saw the photo on instagram! :D And this method actually doesn't seem quite as hard as I thought it would be, which is great because I've failed spectacularly at all other crown braid tutorials that I've tried to recreate so far :P. Thank you so much for this video, I'm definitely going to try this method!

Smilin' Kate: This is an amazingly easy tutorial! I always try to do a crown braid but it never ends up good but this is so simple! Thank you so much for all your great tips! RakuenArts: I've been looking for a tutorial for this style forever! This looks so easy to do aswell. Thank you for making this.~ >w<

Hannah Nisly: I redid the first braid 4 times and the second twice. I only learned how to Dutch braid a few days ago. But I managed it! Keep going guys! You can do this! Also if you're having trouble with the first braid try getting a "spotter" to tell you if you start doing anything wrong. You could also practice the style by doing it on someone else first. Hope this helps

Mei-Mei Herondale: This hairstyle is so cute and so much easier than an actual crown braid (I always mess the upward braid) but this makes it so much easier!! Thanks so much your tutorials are amazing!

Александра Забелина: This braid was sooooo awesome today!!! i wore it. everyone was shoked!!!! Thank u for this tutorial <3

Katie Lynch: I love this. I can do the usual crown braid, the continuous one around the head but this looks easier and less likely to fall apart so I'm gonna give this a try. Everyone in college is always like "you wear your hair differently so much howwwww" and I'm like "hours and hours on YouTube because I have no talent"

poppy the terible Stocker: thank you for sharing! much easier to see and understand I have been looking for an easy way to do this braid!

Calluna Vulgaris: Lovely tutorial, thank you. You are a natural teacher!

Alex M.: This is the easiest crown braid tutorial I've ever seen! It's crazy when I see people go like around the whole entire head in one braid..that's so hard! This one I can actually do with my medium/short length hair!

CrazyMaisieMartian: i love crown braids! i usually do one dutch braid all the way round but i'll definitely try this out! :D x

hannahiswhat: I just did this and it looks too cute! I'm in love!!

Sarah Reade: As usual you and the hairstyle are gorgeous. I just wondered do you find it easiest to braid your own hair without looking in a mirror? You make it look so easy even doing it from the nape of your neck! :-)

lizzie brown: absolutely love this braid!!

Eilidh: This looks amazing deffinitely trying it!

G_Rivera: You make it look so easy! I've tried many times to do it upside down and I just can't!

Rtista724: Gorgeous! You make braided styles look so easy! I'd love to see a video or series on dance performance hairstyles...something other than the typical ballerina bun. I have a Latin dance performance coming up and don't know what to do with my long hair. :-/.

Lynzee Al-Hakeem: I love this method of doing the crown braid!! The common way, where you sweep all your hair to one side & start braiding, looked like an ugly comb-over, to me. Plus, where I started on "the common way" always gave me a headache. There's no tension on 1 side, with this way.

Humble Eurus: I can't even do a ponytail without accidentally knitting my hair into a bale of black, tangled hay.

anastasia s: just did it!!! looks fantastic! thank u!!!

Bellethiele: It looks even better when you make a zig-zag part, instead of a straight one :) Looks more natural. Excellent tutorial! :D I actually tried it today :) Thanks!

Karoline Meierhofer: really love it! my hair is now shoulder-length, I got it cut because the ends were so broken and dead, so unfortunately my hair is now to short for this look :(

Amrita Hull: I'm so happy I found this video! I tried doing this braid this morning but I just couldn't get it right, now I see where I went wrong lol

Pía: Thank you so much! This video was really helpful

Le Quyen Nguyen: beautiful hairstyle, love the width of the braids

julia norden: Thanks! I'm in a play, and we all have to do our own hair lol. The play is Snoopy, and I'm Snoopy. I somehow have to find a way to fit all my long hair into the hat, and this is perfect! Thanks!

MrsBlack Pinkie: I actually wore this hairstyle a few days ago but instead doing two braids I do only one. Right where the second braid starts, I just continue braiding so I have one braid and I wrap it around the back of my head. It looks very cool :D I have always loved braids

Mallory Clark: Really like this!  I've had a difficult time in the past with doing a crown braid, but this will help a lot.

theresonly1missmason: Wow you make it look so easy

Lab Mingou: New fave hairstyle!!! Tip for hair noobs (like me!): if the braids don't really come together the way Kayley proposes, try the opposite! I tried braiding upwards from my right side (the opposite side of what Kayley proposed), and somehow it magically worked, whereas before I couldn't do it to save my life! After practicing it twice, it has become my go-to 5 minute hairstyle!! And I wore it to Oktoberfest and got a ton of compliments, too!

Meet The Garcias: I love this!

Gabriella Berglund: Laughed when you said it can look like you've braided a hat :) totally agree! Yours look beautiful!

Courtney Smith: So cool!  Never would have guessed you can do that with only 2 braids!  Thank you!

gloriouscheesecake: this is easy. i do this regularly. my hair is long and a bit curly and it takes me a few minutes. but i do it as one braid.

AR.: step 1 and I've already failed I suck at dutch braids

The passionate Soul: BEAUTIFUL!

mica parente: What curling iron of you recommend? I've been looking for a good one :) Love this video tons, hope I can do it!

letogec: 'Easy crown braid' Start of the video: "create two Dutch braids" me: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I CAN BARELY DO A NORMAL BRAID
