So in this video I'm going to show you how to do the basic camera on somebody else's hair. Hopefully that will help you also do it on your own hair I'll, be releasing a video soon on how to do on yourself I'll, be showing you two different techniques where you can keep braids from this angle, or this angle, you can put your hair with. Basically anything, I think so you can use a wide tooth comb emember back in the days, and I had to do people's hair at school used to part with, like pencils, pencils, plastic, a blue pin, pins, no plastic, not toothbrushes toothpick or do you eat with forks Pallet forks, you get that part there cuz we get some back in the day, tie it back to make sure doesn't get orden. What'S the work when you start camera in a hair, starts going in it's pretty life, oh well! Keep it nice and neat yeah to keep it neat, tie back up a hair band or Clips, and I put some for docs up in there. Dime sized amount, your dime size, haing-dai decison a month. The leave-in conditioner to keep her hair conditioned the way that you pack, the term, is the way that you would camera. So if you plat in words like, if you have your sections, it's three different flats, then you cross it one the right first into the middle, then you go left into the middle. I'M sorry poke out on the right into the middle left. Right left right. If you do like that, then you're going to end up with a French braid, so your cameras won't be outward it'll, be inward. That makes sense, probably not make sense. You'Ll end up outwards, inwards, hanaway, okay, so if he so then basically you'll need to have be able to braid outward where you start with the middle piece first, and then you bring that over to your left first, then you go from the right and bring that Under and bring this left one over, then your left one's going under then the right ones going under and you'll swap in it over like that. So this is how I would plat or braid so that I'm able to camera. So it goes over like this gasps. Yes, yes, okay, so get the front section separate it into three different parts. So I keep the first one in like my pinky finger, my ring finger and holding it onto my palm like so then the middle one I hold with my index finger and my thumb. Oh yeah, my middle fingers, kind of holding no one's or index finger and my thumb the placement does get a bit confusing. You have to kind of practice holding the hair like. So that's probably what gets people a bit flustered at first my left hand is holding it with the palm and my last few fingers swapping it around like so and bringing it open. So that's the first move right, bring it over there, but now we're going to need to bring this piece over with some hair. So you collect a little bit of hair like this section and you bring it over. I kind of separate sometimes with my hands, to make sure that I don't tangle it up, bring it over and now every time you move, you want to collect a little piece of hair. Just let's warm up so now you bring it over. You bring it over again, so we've crossed it over we collected hair now my hand position has kind of changed. I want to bring this first piece here over again with some hair and swap it keep every time I do it. My thumb and my index finger is always picking up the hair, so you can see here these two things are holding it. My index finger is going under and bring it and palm is holding this last piece here index finger. If I'm holding the middle piece and then my little fingers kind of blasting on with the other fingers here, I want to collect this piece of hair that applied so to do that, I need to. Whilst I'm moving this first piece here inwards. I want to collect some hair with my index finger and my thumb. So whilst it's moving in I'm picking up a piece of hair, you see that I picked up a little bit here and then now, whilst that's now moving back to the other side. So now, whilst I'm bringing this piece here into the middle, I'm collecting another piece of hair from the other pot with my left index finger and thumb collecting this piece of hair. So now that's probably over and each time I do that each mo movement. Each motion collects hair using your thumb and your index finger to keep it tight. You want to also make sure you keep your hands close to the root, otherwise it will be loose and not as neat keep your hand as close to you as you can. So. As you can see, I'm collecting it here, but I'm stay. My things are right next to us cup, so this blood figures next to the scalp. It'S one two figures. Next to the scalp, then it's next to the scalp. A lot of people have different ways of doing it. There'S this way in which I find the easiest there's, also where people have their fingers more like this and doing it, where you really can't see what I'm doing, but it all depends on how you plat. So you need to experiment with that and try to keep your plots simple and like how I am doing it right now see collecting hair with thumb and index finger, but to detangle it I bought my hand down it. So, every time I'll come down like every time I do emotion, I run my hand down the hair and make sure it's detangled. Otherwise it will tangle up and not up, and you can't really do much will be stopped. Basically, so try to keep the three different sections separate by separating your hair, bringing it down, bringing it down each time collecting at the same time downward. I just keep this one going and I'll do another one. It makes the part is straight, but to keep it a straight ladder, make sure that you're going you want to try and stay in the middle. Otherwise it will be a bit wonky. You want to kind of just keep it going and that same pickup. For the same amount of hair, each time, if you pick up too much here or if you pick up too wide like if your parting is way too thick and you're trying to make it so you pick up all the hair. That'S when your camera will be a bit more flat, so make sure your hands are central or guess. That'S the main thing: keep it in the center to make sure that they stay in. That line, keep going down, see platting it you're going to plat it. This way, this is how this is the same motion I'm doing when I'm K mowing it cutting it so that it goes in like the like there. So when I get to top off the hair my hand position kind of changes the cause the way I did it here was a lot easy on the sides, but once you start working to this point, we should start getting higher. It gets harder to be able to plate like this. Unless they're like lower down you, don't have sometimes your mommies do your hair. We are sitting on the floor, someone to do my hair you're sitting down and she's just doing the same old thing, but with me I like to have people sit on the chair. So let me show you this other method, which is more it's easier when you're doing it top of her head and also I find it's easier when I'm doing my own hair at the top of the section as well. Double the top part of the hair as well, so this method I would separate it like. I did just now put into three sections. As always, then I'll collect the front bit with the two my index and thumb, then my middle finger will be the one collecting the hair, so I would switch middle one with the last one. My middle finger collects a bit of hair there, and now my thumb and index finger is moving. With the other hand, middle finger is collecting here, thumb and index middle finger collecting a bit of it. I'M an index middle finger, collecting a bit of hair and just keep going middle finger collecting a bit of hair. I'M an inert middle finger. Collecting middle finger is collecting from the middle section, so you collect under then bring it around this left hand. You click under then bring it around to the left right hand you collect under, so I get round to the right left hand again under bring that round under bring it round to make that wrap. Some under bring back bring back, oh say, undo it and bring it round, let in little finger and little finger. So what I tend to do when I get to a midpoint is I'll switch it which kind of confused everything, but I switch it back to the way I was doing the first one so that I can get the top bit and then I'll go back to Doing it the way I was doing a bottle, so I would literally just let go of it then pick up the hair where I left off and bring it with the exactly the way I was doing in the first bit where you hold it on here, you Bring that undone, it's your thumb and your index finger. That'S picking up the hair, so your thumb and index fingers picking up the hair and with this one you're holding on what yeah so you're holding on with your thumb and your middle finger at first then, once you bring your index finger in between you, take off With your thumbs with no end of it, your index finger is kind of holding onto that first piece of hair. So you bring your thumb round and you pick it up with your index finger. Whilst it's still grasping onto that first piece of hair, you can't let go, and then you do the same thing with this. So your thought, maybe the fingers holding on you place your mitt your index finger down and you bring your thumb over, collect the hair. Make sure you separate it click the hair and then turn your hand, and then you go as long as your hand is grasping onto both the first in the middle. You can you're free to just let go fix up your own hair. You know pick up anything. That'S dropped to one hand, move your hand around and it's still holding they were unraveling about. So look at it. You just keep coming detangle yeah you're free to detangle any knots that start happening. So you could just do that as long as you're grasping on with your index finger your middle finger index finger and then thumb and you just keep good fuzzy nice. Yes, one index: is this one index finger, but this is the point if you yes in this finger, that's just middle finger ring finger middle finger. It'S blue pointy finger. If you look at 20 finger pointed so make sure your pointy finger is kind of holding on like this, and your thumb is there just to support it and you bring your thumb round underneath to then grab what is now in the middle. This is your lambda. Our model, my mother for today and you can find her at scorn - you couldn't say your own stuff in your Landis Yolanda's she's, a youtuber so at Yolanda's, both on Instagram everywhere, twittering on your youngest blog, all your under smoke on Twitter as well systems. Yes, I'll put it on this way, so this is our lovely motor. For today, what kind of hair do you have your own daughters? Do all that stuff? What does it look like? That'S cool. It looks good and she has what would you put it hopes for what BC I would say most parts. The back parts will be for C, but the front parts that's gon na work steadily son yeah it's something under before. Yes, a hair. Is you may not look that way? It'S quite thick!

Tem buck Too: I have watched many many braiding videos trying to learn how to corn row and this is the first one that made me realize that I have been braiding inward not outward and thats why my braids never came out right. Its funny because upon clicking on it I assumed this video wouldn't be helpful at all. Glad I didnt click off it.

It’s._.dessie: If braiding was a class at school i would fail

Doja Cat: As a single dad DIY'er, I get my 4 yr old daughter every weekend. Sometimes her hair is not done. I perfected bantu knots from my memories watching girlfriends back in college getting their hair done, and I'm a descent braided, but I never knew the secret to cornrows. It's about to be on and poppin'. The best part is that my daughter loves when I do her hair and she tells anyone who will listen...especially when in line at the grocery store.

Qween Nyembwa: I've been braiding for 19 years and I love this video! My fingers are used to the same braiding pattern but it's so much fun and interesting to learn new braiding technics! Great video!

Divine Diva: Best tip ever for me: "Start with middle piece first and bring it over to your left first!" THANK YOU!

Keke Cook: 2 minutes in and Im already learning. You've explained this better than most!

Georgi Michaels: Aida, I love your tutorials! From not knowing any cornrows to being able to braid my own hair and to braid my friends' hair, it's such a blessing. Keep up the great work! Blessings. ❤️

Internet Alias: I just wanted to let you know that I have been cornrowing my sons hair for the last 5 or 6 months because of how helpful your verbal explanations are in this video. This is THE BEST video I have ever watched when it came to learn how to cornrow hair. When I sat down to practice on a mannequin, it was your advice that stuck out the most and really from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for this!

Vicki Robertson: I’m a 10 year old girl and my Mom is always trying to do my hair in braids. She just can’t seem to do the top of scalp when cornrowing. I showed her a lot of videos. Non of them really worked since we can’t even see what they’re doing. But I’m so glad I found this video! We can see what your doing, see your mistakes, your saying EVERY step, and then this one video got my Mom to finally be able to do cornrows!! Thank you SO much!! ☺️

BTWCAM: So glad I watched this video! Showing me the difference between inner and outer braids made a world of difference! Thanks

Riley stansfield: Thank you! Most detailed but still understandable video of cornrowing yet! This is a life saver :)

Diamond Mugenyi Dàjj: Even though my first scalp braid look dustyright now as a beginner, I'm excited that I got the basis down!!! Thank you girl✨❗️

She’s Niki: My babies have the same texture as the gorgeous model. I taught myself box braid, corn row, crochet, gentle sew in at the back with a protective style. All with the help of brilliant youtube videos like this...... Thankyou ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Dorns: This was so helpful. I've never finished a single conrow but after watching this I did ten of them on my daughter. They are not as neat but will get better with time

Melissa Revels: This was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much

Sweet Cocoa: I've watched so many braid tutorial videos and this is the only one that explain inward and outward braiding. Now I know why I can never cornroll right, I've learned from this video that I French braid when I plait. I use to always wonder why it was so hard to get my hands in the right position and sense I thought I know how to do box braids I couldn't figure out why I couldn't cornroll, they looked so different than everyone's and they come out looking terrible! Well now I know why and for me it's so hard learning to cornroll this way because I'm so use to having my hands in the French braid position when I plait and do box braids. My hands feel so weird when I try to put my hands in the right position and when I go under the middle hair like in this video I can't figure out how to grab the other side. It's so complicated for me lol thank you for explaining this.

Phyllis Johnson: I'm sooooo happy I found this video. I've been braiding for years and couldn't figure out why my braids never looked like my hairdresser...inward vs outward. I just did the outward method and its perfect!!!

Chidera Okwueze: Thank you so much for this! The tutorial was amazing!

shanocss :D: I’ve been doing this the wrong way all the time I have been braiding it inwards all this time and upon watching this I learnt it in a day thank you soo much now I don’t have to ask anyone to comb my daughter hair practice makes perfect

Blessing TT: Best video ever, I’ve struggled to cornrow properly as it always looks messy but you explained it beautifully

Beautiful Mind: Girl!!! You officially thought me how to braid...the middle piece tip was the key to the puzzle. I was finally able to braid a cornrow after 30 years!!! I needed your tip!! I thought I would never know how to braid a cornrow Lol. Thank you so much!!

Effortlessly E: Thank you! I was braiding French braids (inwards) instead of cornrows braiding outward. First one that solved it for me

ROLL WITH LIZ: You’re such an amazing teacher I tried my first cornrows today they came out lose but next time I will watch this video am sure I will do better.. another issue I found was collecting hair it kept getting tangled together yet I had fully detangle the hair

Star bright: Thank you for sharing your talent, I never learned how to braid and your video has helped so much !

Angie Grimes: this has got to be the best video i have seen to learn how to do this. i struggled through college to get a basic cornrow and now i think with your video i can master it, the way you repeat everything never got boring and i dont feel so stupid now i always knew i braided inward and i could never master outward but now i think with your explaination i will finally get it !! thankyou thankyou thankyou

PineappleSplash: Thank you you made it real simple and easy to learn and understand. I braided my own hair

Ellecia A. Douglas: Very helpful. Thanks so much.

Sandra Chioma: Thank you soooo much, this really helped me, just by watching the beginning, I knew that this is wonderful, finally I can plait!!!!!!!!!At least straight back, generally any hair style

Shamain Obermuller: I am 13 years old and I have finished washing my hair and had an idea to cornrow it I came on youtube and found this video and automatically I know how to cornrow my parents where so surprised my mom asked me to do hers

Eliana Gonzalez: This tip is amazing thank to this video I actually did my first braid

Sugar High 1111: Thanks so much for this! My two youngest sons are mixed, and I've started braiding my preschooler's hair, since it's pretty long. The one time I did cornrows, I was like, "Why doesn't it look right.." I thought it was just because I had never done it before and messed up somewhere along the way, but I've always known how to French braid so it wasnt too dificult to figure out how to manipulate the hair on a smaller scale.. felt confused and a bit discouraged, so we had his Aunty do it the next time. But now I know I just was braiding inwards instead of out! I didn't realise that braiding inwards is what makes it a french braid! He's got box braids atm, and I'm excited to try my hand rows again in a couple weeks.

xoMissNovember: This is the BEST hair tutorial! I’m mixed with thin hair. My daughters have curly thick hair!!!! Thank you Aida you’re my new favorite channel!

Amanda Kulp: Wow your tutorial just changed my life right now. My son has been growing his hair out for a year now and recently got a thot boy fade with the top longer. The hair in the front isnt quite long enough to be pulled back in the man-bun so I've been trying to learn to cornrow so I can braid his hair into a bun. I am so used to braiding normally, I could not figure out how to get my fingers to braid under to make a cornrow. This tutorial is so clear and I actually did a decent cornrow!! Finally. I was so frustrated. Thank you. <3

Andrea Brooks: Best video on YouTube for braiding you I’ve explained overhand and underhand braiding to me in less then 2 minutes and I understand ❤️ thank you I appreciate you

Alexis Marianes: Married a Trini man and now we are stranded on a mountain in Brazil during the pandemic, far from his cousin who does his hair. I've watched countless tutorials on how to care for his hair - like hours - and this has been the most helpful by far. Youtube tutorials have taught me how to do countless things, but I was starting to doubt my faith in the Youtube educational system until I found this video. I had been giving him french braids and he kept saying "you doin dem d inside way" and when I heard you describe it that way, I knew that you were the woman with the information I needed. Thank you for doing this.

love always: Gone to many hair places and they were all so mean to me and would push my neck around. I got fed up with the abuse and am going to learn to do this myself! Thanks for taking time to teach us. I will learn this!

BaekhyunFanEndedByLip bite: I'm still trying to learn the canerow technique cause I want to do this on myself and as a kid I always had my mums two friends do this for me like free. So I want to do this on myself cause its a good protective style and always the best for washdays and wigs ❤

I MUST learn how to cornrow her hair this summer. I'm so over it! LOL How did my mother leave this Earth before making sure I knew how to do this!

JMK: New subscriber here. This is the best video I have seen explaining how to do cornrows for complete beginners like me. I have bought an amazing afro hairdressing practise head off Amazon for only £23 which arrived yesterday. It has real afro hair on it and comes with a clamp for fixing it in place on the edge of a table or on a tripod. I am going to use your video to try and learn how to cornrows and hopefully do crochet braids on my daughters hair once I've mastered it. Thank you so much for helping us white mums of mixed race kids who have no family to teach us how to do it. Respect!

A Marquez: Thank you!!! I have gone through many videos and this the first that I have understood.

tinas: I’m getting frustrated watching this ,, why is this so difficult to me! I’m about to cry

Elena VS: That hairstyle is so nice! I really wish I could do that on my hair but I don't think it would work out as I have very thin blonde hair, I think I would look bald haha Quick questions: doesn't it hurt to have the hairstyle made? It looks to me they pull the hair quite hard. Doesn't it give headaches? Sometimes when I do ponytails they hurt and give me a headache haha Also, how often do you have to change the hairstyle? Like every time you want to change... or when it grows a little bit? Does it take a lot to time to be done? Thanks in advance for the answers, just curious! XXX
