How To: Most Realistic Artificial Dreadlock Extensions Using This Synthetic Braid!

hi loves. I decided to make my own dreadlock extensions using Marley braid and the results were amazing!

So i don't know if you can tell this is like from my hair, and this is from the synthetic hair. This is my hair. This is synthetic hair and it has a lot of movement, so that was exactly what i was going for. I cannot wish to install this. You guys. I cannot wait to install this bad boys on my head, so i'll come back to my channel and let's get straight to the video. So this is the hair that i'll be using. It'S called molly braid and i chose the color number two because it matches well with my hair color, so you can see the kind of hairstyles that you can do with this hair, but i'm going to be creating locks with his hair sort of the pack. This is what it looks like. Let me try and focus so this is what it looks like and i love the texture of this. I find this um better than the fluffy kinky or the afro kinky, which is a bit too rough for me. So i wanted my dreadlocks to look more realistic and this is what i went for to get that look, so you can kind of see it actually mimics fossee hair, very well as opposed to the afro and fluffy kinky. I think the fluffy and afro kinky hair is a bit too rough. Even our 4c hair is not that rough. You guys. I know we have fossee hair, but i don't think it's actually like a freaking key of fluffy kinky. This is uh more closer to what african fossil hair looks like. So it's mali, braid and i love that it bounces. It has a bounce to it, yes and it in the pocket. It comes in two bundles, so um. If you're going to create this hair, i need to mention that you need to be really patient, because it's time consuming, it takes quite some time to do um the locks and you have to do them one by one. So i've taken a strand from the hair, and this is what it looks like so for the length that i went for i had to cut the strand into like i had to cut it twice, because i did not want really long locks, and this is what I have so from one strand: i've gotten 4 pieces. So what you want to do for this blunt ends is just fluff them out a little bit and yeah so that you do not have blunt ends, because the hair is more manageable if it has like fluffed ends, you're going to see what i mean in a Bit so - and i just combined the two strands like that and then i'm going to grab my crochet needle so for the crochet needle i used number eight. I don't know if you can see that my camera is quite shaky but yeah. You can see that it's number eight, so it's really small, it's a small crochet hook. So what i do at this point, let me adjust my sitting position so that i can see what i'm showing you guys here um. So what i do is just um pick. One end and that's going to be the bottom of your dread. So what i did in my case is just pick this end and sort of fold it to create something like that so sort of fold just a little bit like that, but make sure that the thickness is still the same throughout the whole um. The whole length of the hair so now get your crochet hook or needle and what you do is just go in and out like this as you twist the hair around. So it's simple, but you have to really know what you're doing at the same time. So this is what i'm sorry that i cannot actually show you what's happening inside the dreadlock, but i'm going to try and explain what is happening. So as i do this. I'M kind of locking the strands inside the dreadlock or there to be dreadlock so sort of do that as you go around, so i love working um the ends first, um, so that i can continue making the dreadlock going upwards well um. When i started, i was doing it a little bit slower, but, as time goes on, you get the hang of it and your hands get used, so you'll definitely get faster as you go. So that's what i do and then to make the rounded tip of the dreadlock. I need the camera to focus man. Okay, so you do that. So you just go in from somewhere around here, maybe and sort of do this you'll kind of feel with your finger where the hair is a bit um loose or flimsy, and you go in with your crochet hook, um, because the dreadlock has to feel a little Bit tight, so you can see what is um what has been formed so far, so i'm still going to try and make the end rounder. You can see what it looks like at this point. I'M trying to focus for you guys to see. So this is what it looks like at this point. The dread has started to form. Definitely you can see. The end is rounded and nice and it feels firm. You can kind of tell what it's supposed to look like, be careful with the needle. I forgot to mention that be careful with the needle because you can easily like poke yourself or prick yourself, because it's a really small crochet needle crochet hook. So when i started when i had started like making the locks, i pricked myself a lot. You can see what it did to me, but i sort of learned along the way, how to hold the needle and how i'm holding it right now is like this and crocheting it. It'S sort of coming like at me at this angle right here in these fingers. I was doing it like this and that's why i injured my finger, but um you'll sort of find your way through through it once you've started. Doing it like you'll, find the most comfortable position for you to crochet in so once you're done up to like that point, you want to roll it like this in your palms just to make it smooth and round and again to get perfectly round like dreadlocks, because You don't want it to be flat like to be like flat. You want it to have a really nice round shape like that, so to get that round shape when you're crocheting, you have to make sure that you're rotating it. So that's actually why we are rotating the dreadlock as we crochet or lock it to the crochet hook. That'S it, and just like that, you have your dreadlock done. You can see that um. The end is well rounded, so that is it. I promised you guys that i was going to tell you how long it took me to make one dreadlock so for a dreadlock this length, it took me um around 10 to 15 minutes to make one. So it's a bit time consuming, but the results are amazing. You guys and the molly hair does it better. So you can see it actually looks like a real dreadlock. There are 50 locks. These are 50 locks, so i've done 50 bucks. I went for the medium size as you can see, and um. Some of the locks are shorter. Some of the locks are longer. Don'T worry. I did that intentionally because i want my blocks to look as realistic as possible, because not all locks are the same and i don't i'm not a big fan of the uniform locks. Kind of look like the locks having the same um width and length. It'S not realistic to me, so the shorter ones i'm going to do around my edges and around my back, the back of my head and the longer ones are going to go. Obviously, in the middle of my head, where i have a lot of hair, so you'll notice that the longer ones are a bit thicker just slightly thicker than the rest and the shorter ones are slightly thinner. So i want it to just look as realistic as possible. The longest one is around 11 inches and the shortest one is around five inches or four and a half inches, and here in the front, what i've done is i've left some hair out. This is like hair that has not been um locked, so i'm going to be using this part to attach to my hair and then i'm going to attach the locks and then kind of crochet, my hair inside these strands of locks. If that makes any sense just stick around so that you see how i'm going to do the installation process, so this is each you guys. These are 50 locks, i'm planning to do 50 more, i'm estimating 100 locks for my head. I don't know if that is what is going to be enough for me, but i'm just estimating. If i need more locks, i'm going to definitely update you guys on how many blocks went on my head, and this is the size you guys. You can see how the hair is locked, i'm still going to seal it in hot water. I think i'm yet to find out. If that is what is done for these types of locks, i made these strands that look so so so realistic sort of stiff right now, but they're going to loosen up with time so far, so good, i'm very happy with um the way this smelly, braid um, Like comes out when you're making locks, i'm very happy with the results, this is much better than fluffy kinky or afro kinky. So these are more realistic, looking locks and more, you know light, and they have a bit of movement. That was exactly what i was going for. I cannot wish to install this. You guys. I cannot wait to install this bad boys on my head yeah, and i have one like human hair lock right here and you guys are wondering how. But i sort of got the hair that um like remains on your comb when you're combing your hair and i accumulated it within like a week or so, and i was able to make this human hair, and i don't know if you can tell i don't know If you can actually tell excuse my nails, my polishes, my polish needs help. So i don't know if you can tell this is like from my hair, and this is from the synthetic hair. This is my hair. This is synthetic hair. I think they're really close. I think, like you, cannot actually tell the difference, but this one is obviously softer. I'M going to do it, i'm going to install it maybe in front at the very front of my head. You can see how it looks. It'S certainly more flexible than this other one, which is made out of synthetic hair so yeah i have a real dreadlock one real human hair dreadlock from my hair um. I think. That'S all if there's anything else that you'd like to ask. Please ask me in the comment section down below just in case there's anything i've forgotten to tell you guys and until my next one bye, bye,

Shiroh Vexy: Do you sell them?

suan doyle: Can you use this technique for crochet individual locs also?

James Bennett: I was told to only use 100%human hair afro kinky bulk hair to make permanent Loc's because the synthetic fibers will not fuse with your natural human hair. Also the human hair doesn't feel scratchy like the synthetic fibers will. What are your thoughts about this?

Missy J: How many packs of hair did you use to get the 50 locs?

Bria Attiyah: How many locs did you make and did you do a video showing it instilled?
