Other synthetic professional fibers use a method called heat, sealing to create a tiny molten plastic bond at the base of their pinched braided installations. Now, while shapeshifter has a high heat resistance and is not applicable for a heat sealing method by itself, we can use a bit of our Kanekalon jumbo braid to mimic the look of this installation to begin pick up your fiber that you'll use for your braid then Grab a bit of your Kanekalon fiber stack that fiber on top of your fiber and begin your braid begin, your braid, just like you normally would begin an extension braid after your second or third turn separate the shapeshifter fiber into two and the natural hair into two. As well combine these two, those become your three legs, one, two and three from the one that you already had before do a couple more turns on your braid separate some of the jumbo braid fiber. Now we're going to use that to create a wrap, we're just going to go around the extension and it's going to create a little bond right in through here now we're going to apply heat, you want to apply enough heat so that it melts back onto itself And your jumbo braid pulls away, so you should see it starting to be shiny. It'S basically melted on back onto itself. Now, since the shapeshifter fiber doesn't melt, it stays stable now you're going to find the extra leg of your jumbo braid. Then you are going to apply heat again and pull this extra leg away from your bond and that's all you do and you've created your heat seal to remove a heat seal. It'S very simple! You are just going to find the bond. Take the extension here and pull apart and that will crack the seal on that bond using a rat tail comb. You can also crack the seal and help work out that braid once the seal has cracked you'll see the bond slide down and your braid will open up. You can use a rat tail to help assist, removing the braid and then the fiber slides right out by using shapeshifter, with your heat shield install you end up with a professional installation with the durability of the shapeshifter fiber

Sacha Roberts: I was just wondering how well this install method holds up? Also, are there any ways to ensure the bonds are durable? I have pretty short hair and I'm thinking of moving from dread installs to loose extensions and this might be a way to make it look a lot nicer, I really quite like the braid at the beginning!

Doctored Locks: This is a really durable method. It can hold for three months or more. :)

missbrenn: Breaking the bond looks so aggressive with this technique. Wouldn't that be damaging to the natural hair?

Doctored Locks: Stick glue? You can always just install ShapeShifter with a fusion bonding process. That would be easier than trying to braid then seal it if you prefer a fusion method. This method was created to mimic other professional pinchbraid heat seal techniques. Most of those methods were designed to be used with hair that could not be heat styled - this method was intended to give those stylists the best of both worlds. :)

Taran Darkalisia: can we use glue stick with any hair to create this bond???

Doctored Locks: Nope, it just cracks the plastic seal - there is actually nothing aggressive about it with the natural hair. Its basically like twisting a braid, since natural hair is flexible it just bends.
