Hey it's Shaunell from Pretty Hair is Fun, and today's video tutorial is going to be How to do a French Four Strand Braid using a Ribbon., But before we get started we have to share our exciting news... Do you want to show The tooth is gone? There'S not even a gap. Her other tooth is already grown in., We're excited. It only took about 5 months, ... ..., so we had to share But we'll get started on the video. Ok to begin this hairstyle, I have parted her hair on the side.. We will start braiding on the large side of the part and I'm going to use a ribbon as my 4th strand of hair.. So I'm going to section off the hair, I'm going to start braiding with and then I will take a section in the second section of hair.. Think of it as having one two, three four sections. So in the second place from the bottom, Take a little section and put in a small, clear elastic and put it around this little section of hair.. It doesn't have to be super tight or super close to the head.. This is what will hold in the ribbon. Wrap it around a few times to make sure it's secure. Then take the ribbon ... .but. First, my ribbon is about twice the length of her hair.. Then I'm going to take the end of it and pull it through the elastic.. This end can be tucked away later, so it won't poke out.. If it does, you can fix it. I'm going to tighten this one more time.. Now you can see the ribbon.. I like to use a skinny one because it doesn't get folded over in her hair.. One reason you will see this hairstyle with a ribbon is because, when you use four strands of hair ( rather than a ribbon ), the 4th piece never gets hair added to it and it will remain skinny.. You will get the same look, but your hair is not going to be as long as a ribbon, so the hair will run out eventually.. That'S why it works a little better with a ribbon. Once you have your ribbon in. You want to separate the rest of the hair into three sections and the ribbon will be in the third spot from the top. To begin. You will take your top section and it's going to go UNDER the section next to it and OVER the ribbon.. The bottom section is going to go OVER and then UNDER the ribbon. I'll do that again. Top section goes under then over the ribbon. Bottom goes over and then under the ribbon.. Now I will start adding in hair. I'll take my top and tuck it under and then I'll grab hair from the top and that will go under and then over. The ribbon. Bottom section will go over and then I'll add in some hair just like in french braiding, and then it will go under the ribbon. And continue on tuck it under, on the top add in hair over the ribbon, take bottom ( right, ) section and Go over add in hair and then under the ribbon. You see how the ribbon never gets hair added to it. That would be the strand of hair that never gets hair added to it., Which is fine. It just won't go as far. I'm going to continue on and add in hair. I'm going to take this braid in a diagonal across the back of her head over to her other ear and continue on in this way.. I'M just tucking it behind her ear and smoothing it down.. You just continue your braid, like you've, been doing without adding in hair. I'm going to elastic this off with a clear elastic.. Depending on how much ribbon you have left over there's a couple of things. You can do., We just have this small length down here, so I'm just going to wrap it around the end.. If you have enough, you can tie it in a bow. I'll, take another clear, elastic and wrap it around the ribbon., I'm just getting the top of it in there.. You can see how this braid keeps the ribbon right in the center. So that's what you want to remember when you are braiding --, to keep the ribbon in the center and wrap the outer pieces around it.. You can see how that twists around her head.. If that little piece is sticking out, you can just put it under the hair.. That is a French Four Strand Braid with ribbon
