Hi, my friend Sam VA here with Andrew Carruthers education director for Sam via Andrew I'm excited because we're going to show them some real, simple braids. Yet a lot of people ask me: how did I learn how to braid? Well, it starts with ropes. So here's what we've done - we've made a ring with four different colors of ropes, grade white red and black. I'M going to start with three and show you really good mechanics on how to work with three strands. Now there's three types of raised inside and outside and then you can combine the two and create what's called a twisted flat. So I like to call braids plats inside flat outside plant and a twisted plat plat braids plant European braid, North American, so hands are most important things to work but stayin in control. If I go to the hair first, I would find Andra I get tangled up. So going to the ropes I don't get tangled up. So let's talk about the first one in this particular segment is going to be an inside, make sure you watch the other two videos we're going to be posting out later. Okay, here we go inside palm. You work with the palms of your hands so when I say palm to myself the entire palm grabs that session next. One word that goes through my mind: teaching you, the rhythm is pinch, my index finger and my thumb pinch that middle section now, because I'm going to do an inside plant, I'm going to move to an inside position. So my middle finger releases itself in the palm and comes over that middle section. Take your outside section, bring it to the middle, so everything from the outside is going to go to the middle, and we slide it right in between that thumb and index finger, and we pinch now what's cool about doing it. This way, as I have a free hand, most cases we are like this - this is a great way to cornrow. I found myself when I learned how to do this. I was limited in doing other braids, so it's great to know this way, but I also want you to perfect the palm motion to pinch motion and a flip motion. Here we go palm right pinch middle flip right and to the middle now watch left palm left pinch. The left X, flip to the middle slide to the middle. This pinch here is critical. It controls your sections, gives my right hand free now. My right hand works right palm pinch. The right X, flip middle into the center left hand, pinch palm pinch X, middle right hand, palm pinch, flip palm pinch, flip middle palm pinch, flip middle palm pinch. Flip middle love. This because now at this point I can adhere to that middle section. Palm pinch, flip middle palm pinch, flip middle palm page, flip middle palm pinch, flip middle, get your rhythm! Once you got your rhythm speed will come once you got your rhythm and speed. Now take it to the hand so watch how we're going to take an inside plan. Let'S take it to the hair work with a tail comb. When you go in and braid it really helps to give you the sectioning that you need so we're going to work in this right side. Front area here now watch I'm going to take a diagonal forward section I'm going to over direct back to me now. There'S mechanics when I'm working with the head now that I need to understand that we didn't need to know when we worked with a rope war. Rope was teaching our fingers now the knuckles in everything come involved when we're at the head. So we're going to come through we're going to slice three sections now watch exactly what we did on the rope palm right pinch right flip to the middle left hand is free left hand palms. The left section watch me pull the left see when I pull the left. You see that X pinch. The left now flip to the middle palm the right hand so right hand palm is a section pull to the right. You'Ll see the right X, pinch it and slip to the middle. Here we go left hand left hand, palms, pull left, look at my right hand slide down. So I can see the X pinch it flip to the middle. Here we go right hand palm left hand slide pinch. The right X, flip to the middle palm pinch flip now. Look at my right hands free now simply take a slice and add that to this middle section now continue your rhythm poem pinch right flip to the middle left is free, so you can add sections of hair on both sides and right to that middle. Don'T worry about feeding in now it's when I'll come in watch left hand palm left now pinch all of that flip to the middle slice and feed palm pinch, flip slice and feed palm pinch, flip slice and feed palm pinch, flip slice and feed. So you don't have to feed on both sides, so andr I'm going to continue this to new. So I want you step over here. My left shoulder now watch on a coach and you can continue this palm left hand. Andrew good now pinch with your index finger and thumb that section now watch look how he's got control of three sections here. Great job Andrew now right hand grabs that he brings that section to the middle excellent. Now, let's slice him feed some hair into the middle Andrew excellent into the middle good, now he's going to palm right hand. Now what I want Andrew to do is I want Andrew speaking, the rhythm inside of his head, that is so critical. So it's important that this speaks into the rhythm, so slice and feed Andrew okay in the middle palm right, pinch right, X and flip right hand, flip good middle now, good now, slice with your left hand and just pinch a section. So you can see how simple this can be in terms of working with the rope first to control the rhythm. That'S really critical control that rhythm, then what happens when you go in the hair you're, not getting all tangled up. Look at the control andrew has Andrew. Do you braid on a normal basis, no it's honestly kind of a weak spot for resetting right, but this is if you can learn the mechanics of something it's all about practice, practice and practice. Once again, Andrew crevice education, director for Sam, via and Sam via here, we're going to continue to bring you things that you can use in the salon to help you with your guests in your clients, education is what Sam via is all about.
