Bleaching My Locs To Lighten My Green Color | Keke J.

Hey ya'll! In this video, I'm showing you how I lightened up my green locs. There weren't super vibrant and I feel like you could barely see them sometimes. So, I wanted to brighten them up a bit. I love how it turned out and the fact that I can see them more now, I love it!

Hey guys welcome and welcome back to my channel y'all, as you can see, i'm trying to get my life together. I am missing supplies i like to have everything in front of me before i get started. So, as i mentioned, if you are new here once you subscribe, you become a member of the pride look at that face. What are we doing once you subscribe? You become a member of the pride meaning we're just all beautiful, lioness and lions here, embracing our means. So once you subscribe, you join the pride okay and you know i'm gon na be making faces throughout the video, i'm just an animated being look. What, where is the smile coming from? I don't know where i got that face from, but it's just something that i do frequently. But here i went to sally's and picked up some supplies. I'Ll show you in just a minute, but i'm sectioning off my color area here with a rubber band that i only loop like once and now i'm pulling the rest of my hair away. So we don't get any bleach on there for my supplies, we're using the salon, care, quick light powder, lightener and then their cream developer. I got 20 volume developer and this is my hair. It'S looking a little dull and i want to just brighten her up a little bit but y'all you see, i'm struggling with the ingredients, not the ingredients. The instructions like they make them so small, but i just got a styrofoam bowl over here and i dumped the lightener in there and then i'm gon na start, adding in the developer and i'm just using a plastic port y'all like everything plastic. So i can just easily dispose of it and i just eyeball it. It said like one for every one scoop of powder to some developer. I don't know i just i bought it and whenever the consistency was right, we was good to go and don't put this too close to your face because look, it was stinking when i tell you stinking so i'm just mixing and mixing until we're ready. I got my black gloves. I got these from sally's as well everything i got from sally's we getting suited up, they go to face again, i'm excited i'm excited and these gloves were tight. I got a smile, i'm usually a small, but those were super tight, but we bout to get started. Let'S go so y'all, i'm being straight up, i'm just taking the fork and lightly distributing the product on my ends and i wasn't rough at all. You know i just felt like that was the most effective way to get the most bleach on there at one time, and i didn't like squeeze it into my hair. Anything i just raked over it and then later on, you'll see me try to like distribute it. A little bit more evenly, so i can make sure you know they're, all lifting at the same color i decided i wanted to take the color up a little bit further, so i did add the more bleach closer, not on my root, but a little bit closer To my root, because i want more than just a section that was colored to have color, so i know it's going to turn like a um like an orangey yellow. So i have a plan, don't fear. But yes, this is me just making sure the product is distributed and y'all. When i tell you, i did not even leave this on for not even like seven minutes it lifted so fast with the 20 volume developer, and i was like whoa. I didn't expect that to happen so fast because i know they say you know like leave the bleach on maximum processing time of 45 minutes. I'M not doing that because you can already tell my curls have loosened over time like i've done a lot to my hair. I think this is like the the third time i've bleached this area, so i don't want to do anything else to her at least not anytime. Soon. I don't want to process her too long. I just don't want nothing sitting on there too long, but i want the color and i know this is what i got to do to achieve it. But, as you can see, look she's already lifting and you can see my lucent curl pattern. But you know it's all right: we ain't doing a happy dance because i see the progress, but now i'm just rinsing my gloves off because i'm gon na go ahead and probably start. You know, i think, i'm actually gon na go ahead and rinse her out, because look got ta get a bag to dispose. My stuff, i just don't like that type of stuff sitting out because it stink it stain but yeah in just a minute. I'M gon na start rinsing around and do a quick, shampoo and then we'll get to the second step of me doing the color and, as you can see, i'm just rinsing out the bleach and squeezing that out and then i'm gon na go in with my shampoo. Here in just a second yep and then we're just gon na lightly shampoo, that area just to make sure all of the bleach is gone, and i'm just doing this before we go back in and add the additional color. Now that that is rinsed out and shampooed out, i'm just taking my hair down just to see how i'm liking how the color is looking, and i do like how she's looking right now. But as i mentioned earlier, we do have a couple of orange pieces that i knew were going to come up because i took the bleach up a little bit higher because i wanted a little bit more green, but as you can see it's a little yellow. I like the ends, but i want to go in with my adore semi-permanent, hair, color and kind of touch on those areas a little bit i feel like this is going to help me get like a more ombre look from black to emerald. To this light. Green. That'S what i'm hoping so i'm trusting the process right now and i'm just taking a little bit of that die and, as you can see, just kind of running it along the strands, i'm not like, squeezing it in just more so kind of making sure it's evenly Distributed if that makes sense, but yeah as you can see as well my ends, they are looking a little loose, but as it dries up, everything looks fine, and after this i did go in and deep condition because y'all know i'm always about deep conditioning. My locks. Um, so i know there's some people who don't agree with that, but my hair is still my hair, regardless of it being loose or locked. So i just think it works for me and that's what i'm gon na keep doing got ta. Give that moisture, whether she's out or locked in so that's what i do but yeah, i'm just gon na speed this up a little bit and vibe with me to the music and then we'll be back okay. So now we're all complete with the lightning. But here's what she looks like my hair is about 80 percent dry. I just wanted her to be a little bit lighter because i feel like she's, been dark for a while y'all i feel like i haven't, sat down and talked to y'all in a minute too. Like it feels good to just be sitting here talking to y'all, but yes, this is how she looks y'all. I did wash my hair four times and then i deconditioned with my shea moisture raw shea butter, deep mass, deep treatment mask. I know i said that wrong, but it's right here what i use - and i do condition with that. While i finish my shower routine - and this is what we have - i did go in and add some of my uh lion locks watch moisturizer as well. The lion locks for a hot minute, like those are my products, but yes now i did do this a little while back, but i ain't telling nobody, because sometimes i just want to have some stuff in myself. You know, but my hair was looking a little dusty. So i went back in with what i did about almost a year ago now i feel remember when i dyed my hair blue black. That'S what i used again and got my blue black here and yeah. I, like that she's lighter she is a little pale which i'm not mad at i'm, not mad at that it kind of like kind of sets the fall mood a little bit for me, but before this i feel like you couldn't really see her anymore. So i wanted to make her a little bit more visible and, as you can see, i'm glad that i went in and kind of did like the little ombre up here, because some of that was like an odd color. So i think that leveled it out pretty well, you can see it looks kind of like um brush, which is cool. I like it. I think it turned out great y'all, the hair she's growing. Okay, we already know we already know she's growing, but this is where she is in the back. This is how she looks y'all. If i can do that now, you can't tell me nothing now remember it was always i'm not about to know who i am you're not about to be able to tell me nothing when she gets down my back and she's creeping she's, creeping. Okay, you see that she's creeping, oh, lionel come on lionel baby hush y'all. Forgive me! Oh my gosh. I don't know what i'm doing, but this is what she looks like on this side. Like i said she almost looks. Kind of like i've had to die for a long time and she's just fading, but i'm okay with that, because you can see her a lot more like i like her and that's all that matters y'all. Let me know how y'all are feeling about her in the comments and y'all. I'M not doing this a lot like. I probably do this like the last time i bleached her was probably like over six months ago, so i bleached these areas, but i have retouched her with just the the emerald adore color that last time, but it just came out very dark. I wanted to lighten her back up, but yeah yeah. Look it look this thing i get repeat bumps here and they just give me migraines. I don't i don't know why they keep coming back in that area, but we don't tussle because, like you can't keep doing me like that, just keep coming up like i'm talking about. I had at least five of these in the same spot. Bye y'all. I keep saying hairstyle y'all, don't believe me at this point and that's totally fine, i'm gon na just throw them at gym. Y'All gon na be like whoa. I wasn't ready. I know i know it's. Okay, cuz! I hit you with the surprise attack. I ain't even gon na say when, but they come in the hairstyle videos, but yes, i hope you guys enjoy this video. Let me know what your thoughts are in the comments. Uh. BeautySchool Dropout: That green looks soo good! I started my locs on bleached hair. Then I went with a purple pink and turquoise mix for a while. I recently bleached the front middle patch cause I was missing the blonde! But we’ll see how long that lasts. Another great video!!

Tra'C: Your locs are out of control, love HER!❤️

Renita Fernández: Loving your journey❤️and the versatility. I’m 10 months into my loc journey. You make me excited for the future Thank you for sharing

Nikki Naseem: You are too much!!! Love the energy. I like the green. It's your color. I would love to do that in red but afraid to use bleach. The brows are beautiful!!

Nona Ray: Keke! Not the fork. Girl!

Ashley: Your hair is thriving love the color.

Heather iza: Loved everything about this video. Looks amazing ❣️

Kiara Johnson-Mckinnis : Love the energy and the hair, AS EXPECTED per usual! Beautiful

Kisahgi TV: It turned out beautifully

Destiny Jones: I just started my micro locs. You inspired me ❤️ The ends of my hair are purple.

Lena's Lovely Locs: But your facial expressions though!! Giiirl the green definitely stands out now. Thanks so much for this video!❤️❤️❤️

huniebon: Love the green! Next time just bleach the newest area so you don't get any damage. If you keep bleaching the same areas, it's going to eventually be damaged.

Chantal Smith: Love this! I’m definitely getting the color itch so I’m doing my research now! Would recommend box or bleach first, I want a honey blondish color. Also those brows are beautiful!!!

Havootu: I love the green I think you would look good with the green tips all over.. omyg that would be so pretty!!

James Bennett: The color looks great!

Lakia Dorsey: I’m scared to bleach my locs, but I want to dye them blue. That green looks good on u also I like the way ur coordinating with the shirt

denise jackson: So if conditioning gives me the moisture and luster that your locs have, I'm conditioning! I believe in a deep conditioner as well. Like, why wouldn't I? Your hair is gorgeous

T.: I can’t wait for your 2 year update!! Can’t wait to see a video with the progression from the start up to the 2 year mark. Patiently waiting until you hit two years

Lechey Jones: I’m getting ready to bleach my locs this video couldn’t have come at a more perfect time

Shades of Sage: Wow! Your locs have really grown! So beautiful ❤️!

James Bennett: Bleach is damaging to hair over time. Try using the clip in loc’s that you made, dye them any color that you like and clip them in any place you like without damaging your natural hair.

T SB: Keke, love love your locs!!! How do you keep your locs sooo healthy after dying it? Could you give some tips about that? Also do you feel that dying your locs sped up the locing process? I dyed my hair black and I feel like my hair changed, not in a bad way...but definitely in texture somewhat.

Aramide Ugbomeh: It's good, it turned out good and surprisingly the green is beautiful. I dyed my locs a few days ago and I thought they look too black but seeing yours calm me down.

Jessica Shemone: Babe just a small tip next time you can just just crest a bleach cap whereas it’s just bleach that you mix regular and shampoo and you get a nice even lather. It’s much easier when doing a quick job. It’s also good to lift a color that you want gone out your hair. It comes in clutch for me since I’m always dying my hair. This knowledge comes from me being in my mothers shop all my life lmaoooo

Godz Gurl: Green is my favorite color. It looks good on you.

Omega Sim: You and I have the same shirt❤️I want to color my hair so badly but I’m not as confident yet Love your journey and progress Cheers to Loc longevity ❤️❤️

Buffy the Internet Bully Slayer: I started my microlocs with red hair and I have kept up the color. So I do bleach 2x a year. I use 40 developer. My hair is used to it. Love the green on you!

FT: You always make me laugh. Yes for the growth!

Lena V.: The locs, the personality ❤️ such a beautiful vibe. You remind me so much of Keke Palmer.

Imani Harrison: I’m excited for the future hairstyle videos!! Please include some of your turban looks

Dstrong.Legend: Beautiful!!

LaTonya Poole: It’s the StevieJ face for me Gurlll you’re hilarious I love your page and your locs

Kenya Scott: Beautiful!

Destiny Jones: Super cute

Maame Esi Amissah 🥰😍: I realised from your post on ig that the green was lighter but I thought it was fading out or something. It looks really beautiful tho

DeeBos71: Still in love with your hair ❤️

keke smith: Love it ...i got my hAir color a month ago And it change colors 4 times but hey im hear for my girls

Tiera S: Do you think sisterlocs are too small vs microlocs? I found a loctician ( hope i spelled that right ) lol… and she does sisterlocs on all her customers but i love both since they look the same but don’t want anything too tiny if it could cause them to thin my natural hair and fall out

Blackhawk Mahone: You are a beautiful lady with a great voice.

CrownedTressesbyMel: We made the same face at the same time soulmates lol

xxEvyonaxx: Can you do what products you use video I’m almost at a year lol and I want to start putting water and moisture back in the hair but I don’t know where to start. I was advised by my loctitian not to wet my hair unless she was washing but she’s given me the ok now
