Diane GC: I’ve use to do this since the early 2000s in salons when I lived in Atlanta. I would do a root twist instead of looping the hair through the new growth, which mimics an interlock. It won’t necessarily lock the hair, however it does make it harder to untangle when you take the braids down. I feel that a root twist is a better option than looping the hair through the new growth. if you know how to do a root twist well it can extend the style an extra 3 weeks.

Shay K: Chile I did that a couple of years ago and I promise you my edges was about gone.. also it was hell taking them out and comb through the knots I actually lost more hair than anything.

Terry Lee: It won’t lock. Did this to extend my braids on several sets. It takes quite a while for hair to “lock”. Not to mention, locs can be removed.
