Crocheted Ribbon Braided Hairstyle

For more hair ideas, please visit our site: http://princesshairstyles.com

This unique "crochet" looking ribbon braid was inspired by a picture of a hairstyle someone posted on our facebook page and requested if we would show how to do the ribbon. I'm not sure where the picture came from or who actually made up this ribbon technique, but I think it looks pretty cool! It took me awhile to figure out how to do it, but if you know how to crochet, this should be easy for you. Of course you could use this technique in sooo many different hairstyles to spice up your braids. I'm thinking this would be great for gymnastics, cheerleading, soccer, sports and other occasions. The possibilities are endless!

We would love to see you on facebook:

Hi guys today, I'm doing a request of a ribbon braid that somebody put on our Facebook page and I started by making two braids on each side of her head. And these are just Dutch braids that I've only brought in here from the front and to start with the ribbon you're just going to make a little loop on top like this and tie a knot and I'm just doing a square knot is not anything fancy so Tie it like that, so that there's a little loop left and then I'm going to trim the tail of that so that it doesn't show just right next to the knot and then you're going to thread it through a craft needle. And I just found this needle at Walmart in the crafts department, you can probably find em at craft stores as well and then what you're going to do is starting at the top of the braid in the front, just pull the ribbon through and then pull it Until that loop is right at the top, I'm just going to tuck that knot under so it doesn't show so you've got the loop sticking up like that. So after you get it pulled through. What you're going to do is take this ribbon beneath that strand and make a loop and stick it right through the loop on top like that, and then you're going to take the needle and thread it through the next strand of hair and then make another loop And stick it through the loop you just made, so this kind of looks complicated, but if you've ever crocheted this, basically all you're doing is crocheting this into her hair. So again, you're going to stick the needle through the next strand of hair, pull it through, and you want to make sure that this ribbon doesn't twist because it won't turn out right if it's twisted make another loop right beneath that strand and thread it through the Left loop, you made okay, so I'm on the very last loop on this side and to end this. What I'm going to do is just pull the ribbon all the way through like that, and then I'm just going to bring this braid and the ribbon underneath her hair and add it in with the other side. So that's just how you end it. Okay, we finished the braids on both sides of her head. As you can see, and now I am just going to have her hold this hair up for a minute and I'm going to tie everything underneath her head. We'Ve got the braids and the ribbon that I'm tying together and she can put her hair down, and that is the finished style. You you

JuicyChina: AWWWW THE BRAIDED RIBBON IS SO CUTE I LOVE IT SO MUCH

DreamweavrHairDesign: This is really fun! I think it can be done on shorter hair so long as you can get a dutch braid to the ear, then just tie the ribbon to the end of the braid if it's not long enough to bring under the neck, yes?

Lore H.G: Hermoso,contigo aprendí. Thanks

josmali padrino: que buen video ya se lo hice a mi nena y le quedo muy bien graciassssssssss

viickyd25: amazing :) love it

MightyMouse1222: I've done something like this to my own hair, when doing it to yourself, its easier to thread the ribbon thru all the hair sections, then use a large crochet hook to make the chain loops. Mind you I can crochet, it just seems easier to me.

Pinky Sharma: very lovely hairstyle....thank u so much...!!!

Princess Hairstyles: @slideway41 Thanks! The ribbon is 1/4 wide, regular ribbon that comes on a spool. I found it at Walmart in the crafting section.

Lauren Grace: That's so cool!

Glenda Herrera: Est realmente hermoso, tienes una habilidad con las manos..

Kimberly Fernandez: I love ALL your hairstyles but I seriously can't even a simple braid. :((

Princess Hairstyles: @DreamweavrHairDesign Yes, I think that would work great!

King Quinn the Rose Sorcerer: What should the proportions be with the ribbon vs hair?

dennys blanco: hola me pueden decir como se llama la aguja que estan utilizando y donde la puedo adquirir estoy interesada

Princess Hairstyles: @stampinron Hi, the ribbon I used was about 2 feet long on each side. If you're not sure, I would say longer is better as you can always cut it at the end. Good luck!

dibia yaned martinez triana: MUY FACIL..................... GRACIAS

Iris Garcia: i like this video

DaddysGirl3181: @princessharshdeep You could. The needle she is using is not a sharp needle. Craft needles have absolutely no point at all. If it pokes your head, hand, finger, ect. it won't hurt at all

Sarah Barnhill: I want her mom to do my hair!! I've been trying to do a waterfall braid and it just won't work!! I've looked at her video on a waterfall braid, I've looked at about all the other ones, I've looked at pictures and I just can't get it!! Someone help!!!
