Hey everyone today, I'm going to a picnic, so I wanted to do something cute with my hair, but didn't want to spend a lot of time with it. So I prefer blow-drying my hair with a this is like a boar bristle brush, because I feel like it. It smoothes it better, so I'm going to show you a quick way that you can just put a few curls in your hair and then what i have is a headband and then I'll be ready to go. So the first thing that I'm going to do is use a curling iron. This one is just by Revlon. I think it's about an inch in in an inch barrel, so it's hot and for me I like to use it on the hottest setting, because I have thick hair. But if you have thin hair, I would put it on medium. The first thing that I'm going to do is just take some pieces. My hair is cut where I've got some longer layers. I don't know if you can see some of these pieces, so I'm just going to take it and I like to start wrapping it around and I like to go back roll it back, but you can do it under. You can do it back so you're just going to hold it here, and I kind of keep my hand there, because by the time my hand gets hot. I know that my hair is hot and for me the trick is how you let it out of the barrel, so I try to let it out slowly so that the curl will stay like that. So this is what I'm going to continue around and do so. I take the piece brush it take your curling iron, I start to wrap and then I'm just rolling it backwards like rolling it away from your head and again I keep my hand there and, when my hand gets hot. I feel like that. I know that it's ready to come out so my hand is feeling hot and again I think it's all had you take it out of the barrel, so I slowly really and just let it go now. These look like Shirley Temple right now, but I like to keep them like that until I've done the whole head and then kind of play with them. So I'm just going to turn this off and finish going around my head and show you what happened. Okay. So you can see how far I've gotten and some of them have fallen. Actually, I'm down this side yet so again. What I do is just take a section and get my curling iron and I go back roll it back and you want to scoot it down and then again what I like to do is just hold it with my hand, and I know, when my hand, gets Hot that it's ready to come out, you can see some places that I've missed. It doesn't have to be perfect because really I'm just trying to get body to your hair add a little body. So again, I'm going to take that one out and they do look like Shirley Temple and they first come out here. I can see that I already need to do another one, so it probably fell. So I'm just going to again take this little piece slide. It back roll it away from my head: hold it there until it's hot till my hands hot and let it go. What I like to do is just spray it before I start messing with all the curls. This is just red. Can 18 quick dry, so I'm just going to do a quick spray and then I just kind of mess it a little with my hands like this, and you can always go back in if you mess one up too much go back in with the curling iron. Like here this one, I may want to do another one so again, brush slide it back and hold it till it gets hot. This isn't a perfect hairstyle, it's just something fun I can already see. I need to go in the back and do some more, but let it out, then I think, whenever you used a I like, whenever I put a headband in to actually tease a little bit of the hair, I'm from Texas, so I kind of like big hair. Anyway, I'm Texas - originally, this is a little headband that I found at Claire's. Actually, I took my daughter there to get some things for her to buy and it's cute. It'S got a little butterfly and it's just little headband, but if I put it in without the teasing I don't know it looks too flat for me. So what I do is take I'm in a bathroom Amy's, I'm dating myself, but back in the 80s. We call them rat tail combs, but this one actually broke, but what I'm going to do is just take the top part and in the 80s again we called it teasing or you can call it back combing, where you're just taking the hair gently and back coming. What I like to do is spray a little then I take another section back home spray and depending on where you need it, I'm going to do a little bit on the sides right here to back home. If you do it gently, I mean I've, never had a problem with it. You hear that it sometimes damages your hair, but so just a little back coming, I'm going to spray, I just kind of have to sideswiped okay, so my husband just interrupted me how embarrassing that I'm sitting here talking to no one okay, so so I just teased And now what I'm going to do is put the headband back in so I'm just picking a spot and this and there you kind of have it I mean you can see. I probably need to go back in and add a few curls there. But it's a really easy way. I can connect me probably 10 minutes to put the curls in your hair and then add you have been doing a little teasing and you're ready to go. So I hope you liked it and I hope you will watch another video online thanks. You

jennifer jimmy: I remember watching this in grade 10 at 14 when i got my first curling wand. you popped up on my recommended 6 years later when I’m in my third year of university ♥️

javaria5: Ohmygoodness, I am embarassed by how badly I have been curling my hair. Thank you so much for this! You are adorable and your hair looks great. I will be sure to watch more of your videos. I just moved to Texas so I am going to get some big hair too thanks to you! You're great!

Maria C: Amazing to see what a great look can be achieved at home- I had no idea. Glad I ordered my curling iron today! Thanks for the video.

Unique World of Eleanor: This helped me so much! Ive been trying to curl my hair for ages and never been able to really well (not that i have to much because my hair is naturally really curly) but this is great thank you :) x

shumzzzz90: This was the perfect video for me! i just bought the same curling iron last night and I was looking for tutorials. And my hair is almost exactly the same texture, cut and thickness as yours so it was perfect! Thank you! :))

Mya Williams: Thank you for teaching me how to curl my hair...I literally learned how to do it just by watching your video.....Your awesome

Whitney Cunningham: Great video! Thank you for taking the time to upload it! For girls like me (Wash hair, throw in a bun, off I go) this was great to learn new and easy steps just to give my hair some more umf - thanks again! :)

Midnight Serenity: Love the tutorial. I will have to try that when my hair gets a little longer... what's funny is I got the exact same headband at the dollar store a few years back and it's still in great shape. :)

NobodyNaboru: Wow thank you so much! You're really helpful! The most I've ever done to my hair is straighten it but tomorrow before school I think I'll try curling it. Thank you! By the way your hair is beautiful and you're very pretty and helpful.

Larissa Bieber: I loved your mini teasing tutorial! I can't tease my hair for nothing but seeing it this way really helped! Thank you.

Julie Mann: Very helpful--your hair is just lovely--excellent instructions. Thank you.

Maria Flynn: Thanks for posting this! I just bought a curling iron, and I had been using my straightener to curl but found they went dull and flat. This looks easy! Going to try it tomorrow morning!

Rebecca: This is the first video I watched on how to use a curling iron when I was about 10. I had begged my mom for one and I had no idea how to use it and she didn't either. This video brings back so many memories of trial and error. But I did eventually learn how because of this video!

The Hip Chick Online: Thank you! You can use a larger barrel on long hair or you can use this one. It depends on what you want the curls to look like. I have a few other videos and there is one called Victoria Secret Inspired Curls (see link above in description box) where I use a 1.5 inch so you can see the difference.

torie ee: Thank so much for posting this! I just bought the same curling iron a few days ago in order to make ringlet curls and the most it did was put this weird bend at the ends of my hair. I'm gonna try this soon! :)

Nicole Palumbo: I'm terrible with a curling iron but I may give it another try :) Thanks for the tutorial!

SillyFishStickks: Thanks for doing this video! :) I was planning on buying the very same curling iron (since after I saw my friend use it had gorgeous curls lol) Well done

Hannah Walker: OMG just got my very first curling iron and this just helped me A LOT!!! Thank you!!!

Jeannisa Gordon: This actually helped me a lot, for the simple fact that my hair is literally the same exact style as yours and I have very thick. Haha, I've been having difficulty figuring out how to curl my hair in a fast easy way, and this helped a lot

Hannah Powell: You're a master with a curling iron. I could only figure out how to use a wand. It's weird because I can only get my hair to curl on left, but when I start curling my right my curls look ugly and flat :(

LaMa2461: Heyy i have the exact same curling iron and have been strugling with it for days thank you for making it sooooo much easier!!!! :)

It’s Murshelena: Thank you, so simple and easy!

issamel: Wow, im using the same exact curling iron so this video is perfect! Thanks for the help :)

LadyGamer1028: Easy to follow and result is lovely. Thank you!

The Hip Chick Online: I'm so glad it helped you : -)

The Hip Chick Online: Thank you so much! Yes, anyone can use a curling iron, it may just take longer since you have thick hair and will have to work with smaller sections. You can also try using hot rollers and I have a video on that, too ;-)

Savannah Dresbach: I've always had the worst time trying to curl my hair. I'm so excited to try this tomorrow morning! Thanks!

Bree Ann: I had to curl my friend's hair for Snowball and this video came in great use since in cos. I wasn't learning thermal curling at the time. Thanks so much for posting this video! :)

J.STutorials And ETC.: WE HAVE THE SAME CURLING IRON!

The Hip Chick Online: Try using a volumizing mousse or gel when you blow dry your hair to give it texture. You can also spray each section with hair spray before you curl it. Hope that helps :-)

aTimeAsThis: Texas girl! '80's! I love your hair here! My hair is very similar to yours so I'm kind of excited to try this. Can you imagine - excited to curl my hair? I've been flat ironing for years so this will be a surprise for my husband. =D

Ashlyn Swinea: You are so good at doing hair. I wish I could get my hair to curl like that.

Paloma Camacho S.: Your hair is amazing!!!

Toe Shwe Zin Myint: Looks so beautiful! Love it!

The Hip Chick Online: It depends on the iron. Some have just high med and low and some have actual numbers up to 400 or 450. Be careful not to use the highest setting if you have fine hair.

Luna: Thank you you've helped me a lot with curling my hair I've always had trouble with it and it never turned out the way I wanted it to. So thank you! :D

SwiftiePotterWho394: Thank you, been looking for a good 'how to curl you hair' tutorial for a while now so this really helped! :)

Bianca Pino: Hey we have the same curling iron :D

The Hip Chick Online: Hi! Thank you for the comment and I think your husband will love it! I've been curling mine so much more than straightening it lately. Let's hope that 2013 is the BIG Hair year...I've heard that the 80s style is coming back...maybe big hair, too. Haha. Happy New Year!

iloveniallhoran410: i have the same kind of curling iron and i used to have difficulties using this but thanks to you i don't anymore! :)

Sophie James: That is not the healthiest way to curl your hair. If you do you will start to damage the tips( they need the least amount of heat). Start from the top and work your way down. :)

Afreen Faiyaz: hi again! Thanx for your response to my comment and suggesting this technique too. I also learnt blow-drying from you. Honestly, you elated my confidence and added sparkle to my life! Thanks and please keep uploading <3 :)

sarah amin: 2019... Finally found u...

AtmaGyan: Thanks for the video, really helpful. I really didn't know how to use my curling iron. But I have a question: Aren't you supposed to only use curling irons and straighteners on clean hair (no sprays or gels etc)?

킴라: Thanks so much! I'm new to curling so when I received the iron, I had NO idea what I was doing. The directions were no help. But you helped :) Thanks so much :)

laci dizzle: Thanks so much for this! Growing up with short hair I am figuring out all the basics late in life. lol

Dark angel: Who watch this in 2019

IBuryTheLiving: Awesome video ♥ thank you for the tips. I'll try it tomorrow ;)

Summer Moomau: Omg u helped me so much I was doing it so wrong befor u showed me I'm 12 years old and I always mess up my curls but now with you I learned the right way I always do that thing when my hand is hot I know my hair is ready ! Thanks so much

Thatpurplesloth: Hi I've been wanting to know how to curl hair for ages and you perfectly helped! Thx xD

Safia Baharoon: 2019???

The Hip Chick Online: Try it with second day hair or use a volumizing mousse or gel to give your hair some texture. Also, you can spray each section with hair spray if it still won't hold. Good luck!

Fleece: Hi. Thanks for posting this. It's very helpful! Did you put any product in your hair before starting to curl it in the video?

Jessica Carter: i love this and you look very pretty in those curls and this really helped!

ziri: i have the exact same curler thanks so much for this ♥

The Hip Chick Online: Hi, It depends on your hair type how hot to set the heat setting. I have very coarse hair that is naturally curyl so I need a high heat setting, but it should not be set that high if you have thin, fine hair. Heat is bad for your hair, I use a heat protectant and also use a mask every week to keep it healthy as well as getting trims every 6-8 weeks.

The Hip Chick Online: Try using a volumizing mousse to give your hair texture before you curl it or you can try using a flexible hold hair spray and spray each section before you curl it. Let your hair cool before you touch it or brush it. i hope that helps :-)

The Hip Chick Online: That sounds like a really cool method. Thank you so much!!

The Hip Chick Online: Hi, I filmed this in 2009 so I can't remember exactly what I used, but I normally use It's a Ten for a leave in conditioner and heat protectant. Sometimes, I use a volumizing mousse to give it more hold and I like using an Argan oil, too. I hope that helps!

The Hip Chick Online: Have you ever tried using the curling iron without opening the clamp? So, you use it like a curling wand. It will give you a different look. I think my Beachy Waves video shows that. Hope that helps.

Moira MacTaggert: Thanks so much for this! I was doing it totally wrong and it kept on crimping my hair at the end. You're really pretty by the way, I hope I look like you when I grow up.

diazmiriam83: Great video !! I'm subscribing right NOW!!! Cute curls

The Hip Chick Online: I'm so glad it helped :-)Thank you for watching!

PrincessCrabcake: So helpful. Love it!

The Hip Chick Online: Thank you!! You should try It's a Ten leave in spray - it really helps with the knots :-)

The Hip Chick Online: Super fine hair can be challenging to curl. Try adding texture to your hair by either letting it air dry, using a volumizing mousse or a dry shampoo to give it some texture. You may want to try using a "workable" hair spray to spray on each section before you curl it. It will be very important for you to let the curls cool before you put your hands through your hair. Then, use hair spray. Hope that helps.

Jyoti Singh: THANK U SO MUCH! I just got a curling iron and i needed a back to school look, now i finally have one! AHH! <3 LOVE U!

Lucky Clover: that's so cool! i literally spend 4 hours trying to curl my hair with a curling iron and fail so badly
