Hello, hello, welcome back to my channel to my subscribers and welcome to my new bees. Today we are going to talk about co-washing. Why is co-washing important to curly hair? Because when you are shampooing your hair multiple times a week, you could be drying your curls out. It is recommended that we shampoo our hair every 7 to 10 days, but in between, sometimes we need to cleanse our scalp. It gets a little itchy. Sometimes we have too much product build-up. What do you do in between? You would hole eyes. Co-Washing is using a cleansing conditioner to cleanse your scalp, but to also make sure that you retain moisture in your actual hair. So you would smooth the co-wash through your hair and use it on your scalp. Let'S quickly, look at the differences between shampooing and co-washing when you are shampooing your hair, you want to focus on the scalp, do not put it through your hair because it will dry your hair out once you rinse your hair out. That is when your hair becomes cleansed. You want to follow it with a conditioner and a eat conditioner at all times versus a co-wash where you want to focus on your scalp initially, but then you want to smooth the product through here. Then you don't really need to really use a conditioner after co-washing, since the co-wash already has conditioning elements in it. I sometimes follow it with a deep conditioner. Sometimes I don't. It really just depends on the condition of my hair. At that moment, looking at products I like to use actual co-washing products, I feel like they cleanse my hair a lot better than conditioner. Does some people do like to use regular conditioner that they use on a normal basis, some like to use the lighter conditioner? I would test it out with a lighter conditioner and see how you, like those results. If you don't think it is as cleansing as you want it to be, I would go out and grab a co-wash. I am going to use a Shea Moisture co-wash in the walkthrough that we are going to get started now. As stated, I am using the coconut and hibiscus Shea Moisture co-wash and I'm putting enough to completely cover my scalp, I'm using my fingertips to go in and massage B product into my scalp to remove any product build-up, and I will now go in with my scalp Massager, to remove even more build up for my hair, as well as to stimulate growth, and this process is completely the same as if you were shampooing here is where the difference comes in. I am now putting product on my actual hair, which I would never do if I was shampooing and I'm using the smoothing and praying hands method to completely saturate my entire head. You can tell how much flip this product has, as I'm applying it to my hair, but there are still some tangles in it, so I'm going to go ahead and let it sit. While I continue to shower now before I rinse my hair, I want to in detangle it with my fingers. I always use my fingers to detangle my hair and you can see that it is so easy to get my fingers through when you are detangling your hair. You want to start at the bottom and work your way to the top to get those cables out and now it's time to rinse in cold water, always cold water. Now that my hair is rinsed, this is the final result. My hair is very easy to comb through it looks moisturized, it feels moisturized and my scalp feels extremely clean. It is definitely ready to go on to styling phase following my collage iya normally use a leave-in conditioner oil and curl cream. I just use a little bit less than I would. I shampoo my hair with a clarifying shampoo, and I just find that I get better results that way. My hair is a little bit heavier after using a co-wash. So I like to followup with a little less product - and I washed my hair - go wash my hair two days ago, and these are the results from that co-wash, along with the products that I use.
