How to use tongs to curl hair hi, welcome to video jug, i'm richard ashford from seiko, and i'm going to show you how to use a pair of tongs to get curl in your hair. First of all, always a great idea to add a little bit of hairspray to the hair. It'S really going to help take on the heat and transfer the heat into your hair and set the curl in your hair. So i'm just going to work a bit of hairspray into there, so working from the underneath in a ponytail, but obviously this is applicable to any way you might use the tongs. I'M just going to get rid of some of that hair, so i'm working cleanly. So always try and start on the underneath, much easier and more often than not, when you're using your tongs at home, i can guarantee most of you will work like this feed the ends in and then you start to wind the hair up like so so, let's Just have a little look see what we've got from our usual method. So, as you can see, this is what we've got. We'Ve got curly ends and straight roots, so i'm going to show you how the professionals do it and how to get a nice even curl. The whole way along and what you're going to do is you're going to open your tongs through there without closing them you're going to wrap the hair around the tongue so, rather than winding the tongue from the hair you're going to wrap the hair around the tongue. We'Re going to let that close and we're going to slide the tongs down the shaft of the hair, we're going to turn in and then again we're going to slide through so each time. This point is getting shorter and shorter. We'Re going to turn the tongs around again open the tongue up a little and eventually all the ends will be tightened in i'm going to keep that in there just for a moment and slide the tongs out and the hair will set in whatever shape it. Cools down in but i'll just show you how that's dried out. So now we've got a much more, even curl the whole way down. Okay, so we finished the tongi, hey um. It all looks a little jane eyre at the moment, so um we're gon na sort of brush these wood shavings out and go for something. That'S a little bit more sophisticated just by brushing all this through. You could either go for something that just sits in nice and neat like that, just going to back brush this a little again using just the edge of the brush and there we've got something a little bit more modern, so to recap: evenly apply product throughout the Hair separate the hair into manageable sections, wind, the hair from the root to the ends cool the hair to allow it to set use a brush to soften through the curls.
