First Ever Curly Haircut | Ouidad Cutting Style

I got my first ever curly haircut! I went to Roots Salon located in Nob Hill Albuquerque, New Mexico. This salon bases their haircuts off the Ouidad cutting style and include a full consultation, a scissor cut and a naturally curly style, dried with a diffuser. Sara Bassett, the owner and hairstylist did my hair. :)

Hey guys, it's natalie in today's video i'm going to be talking all about what my first ever curly haircut entailed. I hope you guys stay tuned, because the results are so good. The haircut appointment starts with the consultation and i knew that going into it. So i made sure i had my hair in its natural state. My hair was day three hair. It was styled previously, but it was already frizzy. It was stringy and it was flat, but honestly it was good because that way i could kind of show sarah what it is, i'm working with on a day-to-day basis and things that i wanted to change. I tell her that i want long layers a face frame volume at my roots. I also want to keep as much length as possible because my hair is already short. It'S done. It'S all done, okay, so i'm just going to cut out this top section and i'm going to show you the cream, this particular cream. I really like how much buoyancy all the way through okay. Can you see how those are bigger, thicker, curls yeah? She makes sure my hair is really really wet before applying the cream, and this is just a quick tip. She gave me that helps minimize frizz that you might get after styling your hair. The other thing she mentioned is to make sure there's enough product. That'S in your hair so that your hands run through it really smoothly and then once you're there, you can start creating these ropes or ribbons as she likes to call them, and she does this throughout my entire head, creating these clumps all right when it comes to The top section this is where the magic happens. This is where the volume happens. She starts off with combing my hair through just getting rid of any tangles and knots and then making sure that i have enough product in my hair and enough moisture and then she starts with separating small sections at my root breaking them straight up away from my Scalp and just lays them down, it doesn't touch them yet we're gon na scrunch later and she just separates small sections and kind of breaks up the part. This helps with creating volume at the roots, which is exactly what i wanted. So this was a really neat tip that i had never thought about doing, but man it made all the difference, so fingers crossed where you go like this. That'S like not what you want, because then you get like those weird 1800s. I can roll up the scalp and keep it together and then pull it out, so i'm not really twisting them. Okay, i'm just pulling now to see. Okay, are you trying? Are you separating them yeah, just making those big ribbons kind of so they stay together. But look at your scalp see how high it is. Yeah already, okay, so a little bit better right, then, with a flat hand under a towel, i'm just going to pick up section by section and bounce it into itself. Closing my first all right. Oh my gosh! It'S so curly, it's so curly, okay and the curls look nice, but they're a little googly right! So we're going to take them and i'm going to pull out the curl. I'M not running my fingers through it or wrapping it up at all, and i'm going to um just make it soft see how it now looks like real hair yeah, and you can feel this. This is why i don't use the gel right. It doesn't feel like it's yeah, it's like super weird. It does give it this, probably just like the bomb but like i don't know how to explain it. So does this kind of break that cast yep there we go all right and then i'll teach you. What do you think i'm super impressed? Okay, do your pointing close? That'S the whole time. I think that these things they're not really bangs, but i think that they're really cute, you did it. Oh that's good. What do you think good? Thank you welcome my first curly haircut, yeah cool, i'm back and with a haircut, the hair is done and curly and diffused here is a quick before and after of my hair notice at the top, my part is not so prominent and then at the bottom. My hair is not so stringy and then, when i put my hair into a ponytail, it's definitely much more uniform than before. I'M excited for the next wash day, because then i can style it on my own and i will keep you guys updated. So i'm back and my hair has been washed three times since my haircut, it's been roughly two and a half weeks and i've been having so much fun playing around with my curls this new length and it's been fantastic. I just thought this whole concept of doing a curly haircut was really neat, especially because i needed help with styling. My curls so going to professional was exactly what i needed and i would recommend it to anyone who has curly hair and wants to kind of see the curl potential that they have, because it's actually really cool to see uh, to walk out of the salon and Have your curls be curlier than they've ever been before it's such a cool feeling and then you kind of feel like a different person. I really hope that this was helpful to you and let me know if you want any other curly hair videos just leave them down in the comments and any questions that you have. I will answer them. Okay, so thank you so much for watching. I really appreciate it. Thank you for sticking to the end. If you did make sure to subscribe and like this video, if it was helpful i'll see you guys very soon, ciao you

thepeoplevsocialmedia: This was super helpful for a mom with a curly-haired little girl. Thank you!

Tiana Gallardo: So pretty and such a good demo video, thank you!!

Nirja Desai: Great video! My curls are almost exactly like your's, maybe just a little looser, and I started my curly journey over a year ago. It's high time for my first curly cut. Did you have trouble deciding whether you wanted a ouidad or a devacut? That's where I'm stuck right now. The ouidad cuts in my area are pretty steep (for someone who's never been to a specialist before, lol) - around $110. Was your cut around the same amount, and was it worth it?

Leila Omidvaran: Ahhhhh it came out soooo good! Thanks for sharing!

Stormy Day: Hey Natalie, this was very interesting, I’ve been hesitant about getting a haircut because I like my hair one length but it’s not good for curls. I have really long hair and I’m kind of afraid, I want everything you asked for (except for the bangs). I suppose any Ouidad salon would give the same service?

Tima: Beautiful results!!! what gel did she use? Or cream?

Lauri Patterson: Lovely

sherilynschneider: This is super interesting! Thk u!

Richard Tersero Jr: Hi around how much did this cost? I'm a hairdresser, and do this cuts often, and ppl tell me I charge too cheap

America Gathings: Hi, what was that oil she used at the very end?

Mousumi Phalung: Just wanted to know the name of that hair cream? So that I can also purchase it...
