A good hair straightener is hard to find, let alone a straightener that works quickly and effectively on all hair types. But the Tymo Ring Hair Straightener Comb, a hair tool that works as a comb and a straightener in one, claims to do just that.

Insider producer Nico Reyes tests the Tymo Ring Hair Straightener Comb along with two friends, Insider producers A. C. Fowler and Caroline Aghajanian, to see if the $50 hair straightener lives up to its claims of easily straightening any hair type.

Nico Reyes, You probably noticed that the only time I ever straighten my hair is when I'm doing a video about straightening, hair and today is one of those days.. I'M going to be trying out the Tymo Ring, Hair, Straightener Comb., It's essentially a hair straightener in comb form that's supposed to straighten any type of hair easily. And because it's in the comb shape it's supposed to kind of detangle. As it's straightening., I'm going to be testing this straightener out on how well it straightens and how well it straightens different hair types. So a couple of my friends will also be testing it out with me. Later., The straightener does come with this little booklet of instructions and there's a temperature-setting chart that shows you the appropriate temperature setting for your specific hair type.. I think that I would be temperature setting No. 5, which is 410 degrees, Fahrenheit for thick curly and wavy hair.. The product page says that this thing works in one stroke, which I don't know if I believe that.. Besides the heat protectant that I'm gon na be using. I have zero product in my hair right now., It's just my dry hair in its normal state.. For me at least right now, it's definitely not a one-stroke situation.. I do have to do a couple of passes, but this is still straightening pretty fast.. I am gon na try and get a little bit closer to my roots, because they're still really curly and bumpy.. I never ever straighten my hair. People who straighten their hair. All the time must be watching this, like what is she doing Right now? This is at 410 and I can easily touch it because these parts of the comb do not get hot, so people say that they can get really really close to their scalp.. So that's what I'm gon na try right! Now., It's doing pretty well.! Let'S try it! This way. There's no bumps at all. I think it's gon na be a little bit harder once I start working on the back of my head, just because it's not as easy for me to maneuver that, but this is pretty great. OK.. So I'm almost done, but just like touching the top of my hair. This, like the crown of my head, is my problem area and I can still feel some bumps back there.. So I'm gon na turn around and try to work out some of the bumps on the back of my head.. What was that video? We did where I looked exactly like Jacob Black [ ding ]. I will say I do like how my hair turned out., But before I give you my final thoughts, let's see how the Tymo comb worked out for my friends A. C. and Caroline. A. C. Fowler. So I think I have 4C hair, which is thick curly hair. Black hair. Yeah. I have never ever straightened my hair ever before., Caroline Aghajanian, I would say I have wavy hair and then it gets puffier on the bottom.. I just don't like that. It'S so flat up top., But it's fine. Nico And they have a chart on here. That says like this is the right heat for you to use on your hair, and there is actually a section that's for bleached hair., So I feel like that's. Probably the one you're gon na have to use. Caroline Yeah.. You know what That's really good, because my biggest fear, I guess anyone that goes blond is kind of -- like your hair is so damaged. So if you iron it, sometimes it might break off. Like even from here., And I'm like. I don't want my hair to break off from my scalp. Nico. I think you're gon na be the same level as me.. I was level five which is like thick curly hair and it's 410 degrees. A. C. [ gasps ]. Oh I'm so nervous, [, laughs, ]. Caroline Wow, Oh my gosh. [ gasps ]. This is good. A. C. Oh, my gosh [ laughs, ], It's so straight. Holy moly., Let's just say first little bit that was very easy.. It really did straighten it.. My hair has never been straight before.. I can like put it behind my ears. [ laughs, ] Carline. Even at this low heat, it ironed it pretty. Well. Nico. Is this faster than your normal straightener, Caroline Yeah. This is so fast. And, like my normal straightener, it's a pretty good brand, but I still smell burning hair when I use it. Yeah., Even at a very low setting., And so this one I don't. It's really good.. So I feel like I can get really close to my ears, because the outside blades aren't too hot., And so I can really get those hairs that don't really grow or like the hairs that are super close to the scalp. A. C. So yeah. Overall. I definitely think that this works for thick curly hair., My hair, type. Nico. Clearly, my friends and I loved trying out the Tymo Hair Straightener Comb and it actually straightened our hair really really well, especially the roots, which was the big point of concern for us.. Is it gon na get close enough to our roots where it doesn't burn us, but still straightens And it did.? I think if you do have wavy or curly hair and want a method of straightening that isn't gon na. Take you all day, you'd really really like this

Bri: For anyone with kinky/coily hair type 4 hair, you have to do a lot of prep work before using. The dudes hair was already pre- stretched..making it appear as if it was a “one stroke” curly to straight process.

It always stays hot and I can get so close to my scalp that I didn't need to go back over it with a flat iron. My hair was so smooth and soft and my house didn't small like burnt hair. Jennifer.777: When straightening hair it's best to use thin 1 inch wide type sections and to section your hair in larger areas first and work from back to front. That way you aren't taking large pieces which are harder to straighten,then it takes more time therefore more heat damage. Always use a straightening product that's right for your hair type & that can protect it from heat. Get as close to the root as you can without burning the scalp and spend minimal time on the ends. Also brush your hair before, during and after. The brush chase method works wonders too. If you blow dry your hair as straight as possible beforehand with heat protectant in your hair before going over with any type of straightener, that will help get the sleek look you want. I've been straightening my curly hair with all kinds of tools for over 20 years. My tips might not work for everyone, or all hair types or damaged hair but I wanted to share in case someone else could use the help.

My hair was previously straightened, but I've been pony tailing all week, so it's not super straight by any means. It straightened in 1 stroke, but I did go over it again just to be how I like it. It took about 15-20 minutes to my normal 45 minutes. The real test will be from freshly shampooed & full-on curly. But I have confidence in this one! Thank you!!

That being said, when I bought one, if came with a detangling comb that I highly recommend using beforehand as well as any serums or oils you use for detangling beforehand. Solitude: Your friend that wants volume, do it from underneath, as she was doing, but start right next to the roots and go upwards slowly with each strand. I’ve got thin hair and it works really well for me, much better than my straighteners.

Tales toTell: Just because your hair is full and curly doesn't mean it is thick. If the strands are fine then you need to use the lowest heat setting. Density is different from strand thickness.

You can't properly straighten curly hair that has product on. You have to use a clarifying shampoo, more than once to get that product off before you can see the results.
