Hey guys my name's Wynne and I make videos on how to style and manage curly hair. I made a video, maybe like a year and a half to two years ago, when my hair was a little bit shorter on how to style, curly hair at that link, and I thought, since I've been growing it out for about 22 months and it's quite a Bit longer I'd make another video showing you guys how I do it now now I will say in advance. This process is a little bit more involved than my previous process, but you know if you want balm curly hair, you got ta put in the work, so let me walk through the products. I'M using these days I'm actually gon na wash it and condition it off-camera and come back for the styling routine, but before we do that, I wanted to kind of give you an overview of what we're gon na do so lately I've been using this product. It'S called the the curl Smith curl quenching conditioning wash, and I know in my previous video. I was using a lot of diva curl and you may wonder why, as I go through this routine, I'm no longer using diva curl and if you haven't heard already, there's been a big controversy with them. I haven't personally had issues with it. I did notice when I switched my scalp stopped being a little bit flaky, but there are people claiming that it's made their hair fall out in clumps that it's given them terrible rashes on their scalp, and you know there's enough curly, hair products out there these days, That I kind of figure - you know, don't take the risk. You spent all the effort growing your hair anyways, so why would you want to take the risk of it all falling out? So this is what I washed with these days. It'S a co-wash, meaning it's a very mild wash and you don't have to use a conditioner after so after I've do that I've been using this primer before I do my styling routine. Now I will say this is the moisture memory reactivated from Carl Smith. I don't really think you need this product, but since I have it, I've been using it supposedly it gives you a bit of UV protection, which you know is always good so for my styling routine, it's similar to how I did it before, but it's evolved a Little bit, I use this hold me softly, styling, balm from Carl Smith and the good thing about this product. It'S it's similar to the Shea Moisture smoothie that product also, they change the recipe, and I noticed that it was kind of starting to behave a little bit differently and was a lot heavier for my hair and all the curl smith products they're natural and they work Really well, I've liked them, and since I needed to find something new, you know here's what I went with, but any kind of cream should work for this step. This is really just to help moisturize and tame the curls and help define them. Then I've been going in with a Denman brush which looks like this to help define them this step. You know you don't necessarily have to do, but I found it has yielded a lot of really good results, and so I've been doing it and then, finally, after all that I've been using this curl Smith, curl defining styling souffle - and this is basically a gel. I love this product out of all of those. I really like this one. I probably will try some other ones, because I've only been using this line for about a month, and I like it, but I've noticed like on day 2 or 3. It tends to like frizz out just a little bit more than I'm used to, and after all that I have been using this wonderful Dyson hairdryer that I actually got for Christmas to diffuse. My curls and I'll explain why I've been doing that a bit more later and then sometimes, if I diffuse all the way I'll take a bit of argan oil. This is a pure adore, pure organic argan oil. You can just buy it on Amazon and I actually use this for my beard as well, so it works good for me and then I'll kind of walk you through how I like finish that off, but that's kind of what I've been using right now. So let me show you my hairs like pretty frizz out, because you notice I've brushed it since looks a little bit crazy, but yeah so like I said this has been going for about 22 months. It comes down to about here on this side. The front is about this long on the sides. Probably I don't know it's probably about 10, almost 12 inches now, so it's getting pretty long but yeah. So if you like to see me, go from this to this, keep watching alright guys. So we are back. I just got out of the shower. I use that co-wash. I showed you earlier scrub, my scalp really well and just kind of clipped it up, soaking wet, so I could show you guys the styling routine. So when you do all these steps, you really really really want to have your hair soaking wet. I feel it defines the curl a lot better and you'll just have a better success rate. So take my advice there. So the first thing you're gon na want to do is prime, your hair. If you decide to do this again, I don't think this is absolutely necessary. I just have the product, so I've been doing it. I think it. If anything, it adds a little bit of slip in your hair, which is like kind of a slipperiness. So it's easier to work with I'm just gon na brush that through you make sure it's all incorporated. I know somebody's thinking it. So I'm just going to say it: I'm none of these products are sponsored. I bought these always my own money. I wish I was a big enough youtuber to have sponsored products, maybe in the future, but we are not there yet so brush that primer. All the way through and then the next step, you're gon na want to do is section your hair into two or three sections. My hair is pretty thick, especially the crown, so I will usually section it into three, and so that would be this crown area. The middle area and then the lower area, where you have the longest hairs. So I kind of go about here straight back and then just kind of make like a horizontal line to your goods that you just kind of spin it up and then any kind of click will work. I use these little scrunchie clips so flip that one up and then I go about my level straight back it up like this and really all you're doing here is sectioning it out to make sure you can get to every section and really work the product through. So, like I said, it's really good to keep your hair super soaking wet when you do these steps. So I have this little likes like a continuous spray bottle and sometimes it gets messed up so just kind of like opening and closing. Sometimes it gets stuck. But this is like a really good way. You see just click it a few times and it keeps spring just to make sure everything stays really well, while you apply this product, next will be the whole Denise Ave, styling balm from curls myth so take about. Maybe this much rub it in your hands like this and then just kind of smooth it through and sometimes I'll flip back and forth, to make sure I'm really getting in through again. This process definitely takes a little bit of time, but you know I usually only wash my hair, like I don't know, maybe once every three to four days, that's pretty much it so for me, it kind of averages out over all the days, and so the next Thing I've started doing is using this Denman brush to help sort of define the curls. I'M gon na show you kind of how I do that with one section and then I'll, probably time-lapse it through the rest, but basically I'm gon na. Do the exact same thing. I just did to the bottom section, the middle section and the crown section and then I'll be ready for the next step. So when you're using this Denman brush the cool thing about, it is because it has this sort of like curved profile. It sort of helps your curls find their curl pattern in a quick way. So usually I will brush it a couple of times just to make sure everything is straight and then get kind of close to the root, pull it out and kind of like you're curling. A ribbon - and you see how, like these all, just get really really defined and you're gon na want to kind of pull sections of each thing and are each kind of larger section like you're doing this one, and you just want to keep doing that same thing. Over and over again so see if I can brush it out and then like you're curling a ribbon see so I'm going to go ahead and do the other side of the middle layer and the top layer and I'll be back to tell you the next step. So now we're at the middle layer, I'm just kind of a recap: it's kind of the same process, I'm gon na, take a little bit more because it's a bigger section spread it through trying to get like all the pieces pretty evenly. My the back of my head is a little bit coarser, so I try to get more product in that area and then again I take a section and if this seems like you know, I'll, probably make a video in the future on how to use the denim Brush a little bit better, but just for the length of this I'm gon na save that for another time. But if you guys would like manes my Mel who's, another curly hair youtuber, who I really love her videos. She kind of approaches. Everything from like a sort of scientific way that makes a lot of sense, I'll, link her video. She did one on how to use a different brush and like kind of the differences it makes, and if you're interested in this I mean you can see like look. How well those are defined, but if you're interested in this styling technique, her video is a great place to start. I remember again: she's coming out like you're curling a ribbon yeah and you can see they kind of start to form curls. So I'm going to finish up the rest of this section and then I get to the top I'll explain what I'm doing there all right. So once you get to the top section, instead of going in sections that are kind of like vertical all the way around. I usually go and kind of like linear sections from the back to the front, I have a lot of hair on the top and have a hard time kind of managing it. So sometimes I'll switch it into two sections. So let me just kind of go through that really fast split it in the middle like this, but this one here and for each of these sections, I'm gon na use about that. Much so grab all the pieces of that section smooth the product on like this. Just make sure to get it all the way through take the brush get close to the root brush it out again, like you're curling a ribbon. I kind of smooth it down like this as well kind of Falls back nicely. So let me finish the rest of this and I'll be back to tell you the next step, so this front section here, I just want to make a quick note. This one's kind of important to get really smooth because it like is right in the front of your head and if you don't do it right, it'll, it'll kind of show all right. So that's all these all the defining with the diamond brush. It does take a little bit of time, but you know it speeds up once you've done it a couple of times, and I think it's worth it because it makes the curls stay for a couple more days. You get a really like soft and defined curl, and you know: do you want to look your best? You and you got to put in a little bit of time like I said earlier, so I'm just gon na check really fast to make sure there's no curls around the edges that are frizzy, because sometimes, if there are, you might want to like finger coil them. Like this to make sure they're looking how you want and everything seems to be looking good, so something you're looking for at this stage like if you kind of see on the on the backdrop like there's no like frizzy pieces sticking out, and that just means that, When it dries, it's gon na be very well-defined and you're, not gon na see frizz. So to lock this in. I used this curl defining styling souffle, and this is really like a gel. It'S very interesting consistency. I don't think you can tell it's almost like jello, but I take - and it's very weird like if you ever seen, flaxseed gel it's kind of similar, but I take about like this much. You have to emulsify it in your hands. Kinda like this, and then I kind of go to this side, I'm like starting on the ends. First, slowly smooth it down like this, making sure I'm getting everything - and this is really just like sort of creating a caste and like locking everything in you - can kind of push it back up. And then I get a little bit more for the other side, not too much flip everything over again about listening out, maybe a little less and just kind of smooth it down all over and once you've done this a few times honestly, it gets a lot easier. They'Re, just kind of becomes part of your like getting ready routine all right, so usually I would be - and I always have like a little a couple pieces here that get frizzy, so I just sort of put it like finger coil of them all right. So after you have this, I will usually wrap it for about like five to 10 minutes just so I can like, because I'm usually doing this in the morning, so I can get ready for work. Maybe have some coffee, whatever you like to do, and it saves a lot of time when it comes to drawing with the hairdryer. So all you do is flip everything down. Take a microfiber towel. This one is by aqueous I'll link it below I'll. Put it like this just twist everything lightly trying not to disturb anything too much, put it straight back and then clip it back and not the cutest look ever but nobody's probably gon na see you but yourself so give me about five or ten minutes and I'll Be back to finish up the styling routine! So now that we've let our hair dry a little bit in the towel again cutting a little bit of our blow-drying time. We'Re gon na! Take it out, thank goodness, being very careful not to create any frizz. At this point, it's a good time to just take another look, make sure, there's no pieces that are looking extra frizzy or anything. Oh. I think this looks pretty good, so we're gon na move on to blow-drying. So these days, I've been using this Dyson blow-dryer that I told you guys about earlier. I really like it for a couple reasons: one it tends to regulate the temperature so you're not causing as much heat damage it's fairly powerful too, and I have noticed a lot quicker drying times and honestly, that's one of the reasons that I started using it because You know before it would take me like 40 minutes to diffuse, and now I can do it in like 15 minutes, which really isn't that bad, especially in the winter, it really sucks to walk outside with wet hair. It'S freezing cold. It'S not good for your hair either. So really the dryers just been a win-win situation. So basically, what you're gon na want to do is dry all your roots. First, you can do that by kind of leaning to the side and kind of going like this and then again flipping your head doing the other side going down doing the back. I will blow dry on low heat and low heat and high speed, because the high speed and this particular dryer isn't blowing my hairs around. So it's not creating frizz and the low heat. I think I would rather just stick with low heat and not damage. My hair, any more than is necessary, so I'm going to kind of start blowing drawing my roots, I'm going to move to the middle section and then kind of go under, and one thing I've learned recently is like try not to disturb the hair. So you might, when you're doing this, just kind of stay on the outside and the reason you're doing. That is because, when you start like pushing it in and moving it all around you're breaking up the curl patterns that you work so hard to form so bear with me. I'M probably gon na put this into time-lapse just so you guys don't have to sit here and watch me blow dry right here, but stay tuned, and we will look at the result when we're finished so now that we're all dry, you just want to kind of, Like double check to make sure there's no wet spots, because you don't really want to be breaking up the curl cast before it's totally dry and when I've started doing which helps kind of like seal in the moisture and makes make this style last. A little bit. Longer is using some argan oil, so this is again the pure ador argan oil. I just take like you know, maybe one and a half pumps of it, get it all over your hands and then first start by kind of, like smoothing it down just sort of break up that cast, and you can see how it's kind of going from. Like ramen noodles to like actual curls, that's what happens and you use a gel and then I'm gon na go back and just kind of scrunch. It a little bit break up that a little bit further kind of flip, your head back and forth, and then I usually go down and shake it the roots just a little bit, get it how you like it. I usually wear all kind of one side and that's like whatever side is sort of behaving the best on whatever day and that's pretty much it. So let me kind of give you a little spin, so you can see how this looks when it's all finished after you did all that hard work. So here we have the front kind of from this side and it may be, like my. I think it might be like you know, maybe like three percent still dry wet, but that's okay, it'll air dry, the rest of the way - and it shouldn't like for is that bird get too crazy from this point on so yeah there you have it um thanks! So much for following along this long, if you're still watching your trooper. I know that was a lot of steps, but, as you can see, it'll have a good result. If you guys have any questions, please comment below or videos you'd like to see in the future. Always looking on new ideas of what I should make, if you'd like to follow me on instagram, its dot dot win so dat WI in, I started doing a couple tic TOCs, but it's a lot of work so we'll see if I keep doing them. That'S all so that way until next time, thanks for following me and good luck with your curly hair journey, thanks bye,

Jacob Ortega: Holy crap, I'm so glad I found your channel. As a curly haired dude it's so hard to find the right guidance since I started growing out my hair. There aren't nearly as many resources out there for us guys. Furthermore, your curl pattern happens to be very similar to my own, so your videos are very helpful. Thanks a bunch, please keep making videos!

Dubile: I've always felt like having curly hair is a curse but you give me hope

Alexander Nelson: I never really considered my hair to be curly. But once I grew it out, I noticed how hard it was to maintain it, and the curls really started to show once my hair got longer. I’m so glad I found this video

Marco Rosso: I've being growing my hair since may, just after a full shave due to a quarantine crisis , and I could've found a reference that matches my face shape and my hair type at the same time until I came across this video. I really apriciate the renovated perspective that you're giving me now.

Jacob Smith: My hair was super curly (full on Jewish fro) so at a young age I started to grow it out and found it far easier to stop the curls with long hair. Now I’m embracing them! Thankfully I bought curl smith products before even watching and used them to very good results but though I could do better. When you have unique hair, the extra mile is worth it. This video will help immensely when I wash it again in a few days. Thank you so much!

Its_ZakD: Keep going with the videos Win. Your inspiring us all to keep growing out our curly hair.

Rocky Tejada: Thank you!! This is exactly the tutorial I was looking for. My hair is the same length and texture as yours, and I just didn’t know what to do with it. I’m definitely going to try this! Your hair is beautiful!

Temperance Delonkcra: Thanks!! This was just the tutorial I needed! I have slightly longer hair, but I also have lots of it and yours was the first I found that had these similarities. I also appreciated the “like a ribbon” comment, that’s the step I’m missing in my routine. I’ve been trying to figure out where I’m messing up the steps, and I don’t think the combs I have are doing what I want them to. But that’s okay! I’ve got a Denman in the mail and now I know what I need to do with it

Isidro Espinosa: I first saw your TikTok videos, and damn this was so so helpful. I'm just starting to grow my curls and I had no idea how to do it or where to start. You should definitely do a video about you keep it through the other 2, 3 days and during the night. Thank you sooooo much

Nicola Di Simone: Wow i'm definitely gonna try the denman brush especially in the back where I have a lot of frizz. Plus the dyson blow dryer is amazing! Great video as always, thanks for all the tips!

Kenneth Perdigon: Currently on my 6th month of growing my curly hair!!! Hopefully it looks good on me when i reach my first year

Louise Sumner: My son has really curly long blonde hair and it's really difficult for him to manage. I know he'll really appreciate the help!

Jaime-Arturo: Your hair is glorious! I love it! My hair was very thick in my 20’s and has thinned out in my 40’s but the individual hairs are very thick. I’m trying to grow it out to just below my ears and I have a wave to my hair. Other than perming it, is there a better way to bring out the curl?

PBJoey: I love your hair so much!!! I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos they’ve been a huge help for me with my wild hair.

J: Yo, you have great hair! I always thought curly, thick, crazy hair was a curse. My hair has a mind of its own. Thanks for the tips and for the hope!

Cherish Ireland: I wish I had curls at all or half the hair you have lol. Your dedication is top notch. I'm glad you don't claim it's super easy or take no time at all. Being realistic sets your fans up for success.

24rs: Is there any specific thing you do to have your hair looking like 4:28 ? It looks great and if that comes from literally just brushing it on the 3rd or 4th day without products or w.e that's amazing, really want to know =)

ExpensiveMagic: Your hair is gorgeous! You've helped me a lot as well <3

Ryan Burwell: Your videos are super helpful. Thank you! I was kind of behind and went with the devacurl from your other video. I'm loving it so far. Any other bad feedback that I should be concerned about?

KIQUE SOCIETY: I love it! Curly hair is my new favorite look

Patrice Monvoisin: OMG! You have lovely dark and healthy curly hair. Mine is unfortunate very dry and fizzy and doesn’t have regular curls. I enjoy watching your videos hoping my hair was like yours.

Rebekah: This is amazing, THANK YOU! Hmm... My kid is 6 yrs old and has your hair type. I’m going to take all your lovely recommendations and attempt to translate them into an age-appropriate pandemic routine. Which of these products would you skip on days when you’re just lounging at home? lol

Will Westwater: This is exactly what I needed thank you!

Bleus: I feel I may be drying my hair too much with a towel but after leaving in conditioner and air drying my hair becomes a frizzy mess. Any tips for keeping in moisture?

Gabi Alas: Dude. My friend introduced to you through tiktok saying “look omg he has you hair!!” And let me just say that after seeing that I’m sooooo happy I can relate to someone and try things that can work for me too!!

Ceyris: Quick question that I never seem to find the answer to : I only shampoo 2 to 3 times a week - but in the meantime I still get my hair under the water everyday under the shower since I have curly hair and that's the only way to get rid of the frizzes and sort of "reboot" my hairstyle. I just don't use shampoo and don't rub them or anything. Also, I have extremely itchy scalp - any link with that? Or any solution? Thanks!

Sathis Babu: So many products and such a time consuming process Having curly hair I never bothered to style mine much, I start the day with one hairstyle and by the end switch dozens without any effort Ur video is teaching me patience for sure

Tyler Gorrell: Is blow drying essential when it isn’t freezing outside? Will air drying completely cause frizz? Also consider this another request for a video on what you do on the days in between those where you shampoo. Love this thanks for making these videos.

Deray Parker: The hair flip at 14:48 gave me life. Beautiful hair!

Xonica Tiana: The quarantine content we need at the moment tbh, stay safe❤️

Jinoug4: Cool to see another dude with similar hair to my own. I'm close to your length as well and this definitely teaches me that a denman brush is something I need to get. I've been struggling with my afaik very low porosity hair and trying to see if it wants protein or not. It doesn't *seem* to be protein overloading, but it's hard to tell.

S.A.S.A INK LLC: OMg! Thank you so much; I kept trying to straight my hair because I couldn't style my curls .... you are amazing, thank you again for share your routine !!!!!! i subscribed and like your videos !!!!!

Smang: I love curlsmith I have butt length curly hair, Shea and curlsmith have been my go to products. I’m almost middle aged and my hormones have made my hair behave like a toddler with behavior issues. But I’m here to find out how to use balm or pomade

witchinoz: It looks incredible !

NoLawOnlySoup: I’m a trans guy and I can’t cut my hair because my parents won’t let me. So this was helpful for me thanks for the awesome video man!

Jeff Jackson: Any advice on certain diy hair masks for moisture/growth/etc that you've found effective?

Cameron: Your hair looks amazing!

nathangelus: thank you so much for doing this!!! I have the same kind of hair of have been needing something like this

Taha Hamza: Looks amazing

Carla Hart: Great video! My friend has curly long hair and I’m hoping to help him! So, brushing doesn’t “lessen” the curl? I was thinking the opposite! Have you tried Arbonne’s True Hair line? They have some amazing curl products. If you’d be interested, I’d love to send you some.

SgtMcDick: Trying it this exact routine for the first time right now

DBD: absolutely beautiful hair. helpful video too

Connor Drake: This is amazing. Thank you!! How long do you leave your hair in the towel??

Ace Software: Make a video on how you restyle your hair on days 2, 3, 4 etc.

09 José Ovalle: Hi! I have a problem. Hope everyone has gone through it. I have like between curly and wavy hair, besides a lot of hair which give my hair a lot of volumen and makes it tangled. I have always wanted o grow my hair out but this problem is making me change my mind which I do not want. Another aspect to add is that is that my sides have been growing for less time than the rest of the hair. Is there any tip for me decrease that volume and make me look better? Hope you can help.

Kadji Amin: Are you still into the Curlsmith Souffle, or have you found something that is better with the day 2 and 3 frizzies?

Gab: Hay!!! Thank you for this kind of content, please keep going with your channel!

Manuel Diaz: I have the exact same hair but longer, I have like 20mo growing and it is my first time, I am having a really bad time with all kinds of knots, I am pretty sure brush wont make it. flabby italian: this is a really good video thank you! you should make more videos if you are able to you have a nice personality.

ninzo jimenez: Thank you for this

Logan McCormick: You should look into Not Your Mothers Curl Talk line. Way cheaper but still natural ingredients and CGM friendly. I use it all, I wasn't impressed with the foam curl reactivator and the gel tends to leave a little bit of a sticky reside after you break the cast... but that also just might be me using to much. But yeah check it out, I think you'd like it.

Internet Rob: Amazing results! thxs

Steve Reed: Need a quick tip. I plan on donating my hair to locks of love after new years 2021, however I want to go to my cousins wedding with my hair weighed down in a sense. It's now around 15in before it curls up. Any products for a dude to rock a shoulder length mullet/wcw haircut?

fibrousmc: Omg I havent finished the vid but your hair looks almost exactly like mine and I rlly need to style it better

Kevin P: When you cut your hair for the first time, what do you ask for? Is it a certain name or type of stylist I should look for? Last hair cut was 10/2018 so its the same length as yours. Haven't gotten 1 cut yet

XxVesperiaxX: Finally someone with hair like mine!

Punav Mirlekar: i shaved my head and now after 11 months of growth! i love my curls but its a lot to manage
